I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon before happy hour so it was not busy at all. There are both indoor and outdoor seatings. I absolutely love the interior of the restaurant, very spacious and classy looking. We were a group of four and ordered 6 dishes and that were enough portions for all of us. My favorite dishes: Vietnamese pork rib tips: the meat was tender and just with enough sweet and savory. The rice and veggies were a nice touch to help balance out the flavorful meat. Selection of daily oysters: I am not a big fan of oysters but these were surprisingly great. The size was just right and there were three different sauces. I tried them all and personally I think they were all great. The other dishes rigatoni, and steamed curry mussels. I think they were all fairly tasty. Service was wonderful!!! Food was excellent. Ambiance was great - the inside is modern and nice- We sat outside because it was a beautiful evening and a bit quieter. The food was excellent. From the chicken bites app to the pork shop and Salisbury steak, it was al delicious and well prepared. It would be a 5* if it wasn't for the service. Nice and friendly, just slow. Drinks came after the appetizer, had to ask for silverware after the meal arrived. I ordered a second beer and it took so long we asked to cash out before it came. Mermaid's Kiss $16 I got the blue cocktail made with Barcardi rum, blue curacao, Cointreau, lemon, pineapple, and simple syrup. Really like Blue Hawaiian cocktail. Fortune Teller $16 One of our friend ordered the cute cocktail made with Gordon's gin, luxardo maraschino, gifford violette, lime, and sage decorated on top. Hibiscus Arnold Palmer $6 My husband got the hibiscus lemon iced tea. Denver Omelet $20 For the food, I ordered from the brunch special menu. The Denver omelet has ham, bell peppers, onion, and cheddar on top. With crispy golden hash browns on the side. Great experience overall! This was my first time visiting Shepherd & Sims, and I was really impressed. The host was incredibly gracious and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with my friend. I asked for an iced coffee, even though it wasn't on the menu, and they happily made one for me. Sal's suggestion for me was the Chi-Chi (vodka, trader Vic's macadamia nut, pineapple, coco lopez), $12!! The ladies all loved it; we had to order another round of Chi-Chis! We arrived early enough to enjoy Happy Hour appetizers. We ordered a dozen oysters, $2.50 each, New England Clam Chowder bowls, $7, Fried Chicken bites, $15, Coconut Shrimp, $14, Beer Battered Fish Sticks, $12, Patatas Bravas (Yukon gold potatoes, salsa brava, aioli), $12, and a Focaccia bread service, $7. Patty was concerned that the meat entrees were lacking for one friend and offered to bring him something else. Her concern for his happiness showed and was greatly appreciated. Enjoyed the sauces: sangrita, cucumber mignonette, smoked cocktail sauce. * Heirloom Tomatoes: melons, burrata, mint, orange zest, pomegranate syrup, lemon oil. It was refreshing and light. * Ceviche*: local catch (scallops), lime, onion, tomato, cucumber, pico de gallo, salsa macha, blue corn tostada. This appetizer was delish! Well balanced. The blue chips paired well. MAINS * Baby Back Ribs: Korean BBQ sauce, sesame, pickled cucumber salad, cilantro. I ordered this and absolutely enjoyed every bite. The meat was tender and slid off the ribs. However, they were slightly over. * The Only Burger That Belongs On The Table: American cheese, bacon jam, crispy onion string, awesome sauce, pickles, lettuce. They did have one guy that was really nice, filling up our waters and being hospitable while we waited but our waitress took orders from people around us but came to us very late, at the end of the meal they also chased me out to tell me I didn't pay for the bill in front of my friends. Fried chicken and empanada were both seasoned well and flavorful. Burger was amazing and would order everything again. The beet salad was one of the better ones I've had. Was here for a birthday celebration and this place is pretty nice inside and clean. You can totally dress up or be a bit more casual without an issue. They have a bar with a huge TV and happy hour everyday so if you're close by, would be a great place to grab a drink and a bite. I ended up getting a wedge and the scallop risotto and both were excellent. I always like a wedge salad and the scallops had a great sear and the risotto had a ton of mushrooms and well cooked. Second visit to Shepherd & Sims, this time for dinner. Service - since we had a reservation, the host seated us right away -- initially in the noisier bar area but I asked if we could sit on the other side which was much quieter, and he seated us over there. Waiter was also attentive and explained the specials, checked on us several times. Food - I was disappointed that they were out of their delish empanadas (which I had at HH last month) but the Coconut Shrimp were really good. For dinner my husband had one of the specials, a rabbit ragu on fettuccine. He really enjoyed it, I'm not such a fan of rabbit but I had a taste too. I had the Cauliflower gratin which was really good with cheese, good spices and sauce. My Cosmo was also as good as I remembered from HH. For dessert we had the pear tart with Caramel gelato which was a delicious finish to the meal. We'll be back. We were a big fan of Forthright in Campbell and were bummed when it closed. But we were excited to learn that Sheherd & Sims was owned by the same owner. We've come here twice and enjoyed it both times. Servers are friendly and attentive and we enjoy the food. My wife likes raw oysters so she gets the Sip and Slurp, and I always enjoy the One Hitter Quitter (burger with beer and a shot). Fries were crispy and light, burger was delicious. My wife also had the clams. They have Happy Hour from 2-5:30 and there was quite a crowd inside and out. They have a pretty large covered patio that's totally shaded - nice to sit out there and enjoy the nice weather. If you didn't know, Shepherd and Sims is in the same restaurant group as The Table, The Vesper, and Forthright (RIP). If you're used to the menu at those places, this one will have a similar vibe, in a good way. Food is seafood centric, but also has some great land-meats on the menu. The Forthright in Campbell was our favorite restaurant, we used to drive all the way from San Francisco just to get dinner there. Glad to find this place belong to the same company, and it didn't disappoint. In fact we're full of surprises. This place is much bigger and very comfortable. Love the patio with good weather. The happy hour oyster all week is awesome. Must try the green curry mussels, we were like, "Wow!" It has quite nice decor, a cool blend of hip with a touch of modern rustic class. But service was slow and we felt unattended all evening. From ordering to food to water to the bill. When the waitress WAS with us, she was quite nice and attentive though. But still, wasn't expecting an hour and a half dinner on a Monday. Food was hit or miss. Oysters, risotto scallops, and octopus were good. Chicken liver mousse was an odd combination of flavors IMO. The sweetness overpowered the savory pate characteristic. The burger was average at best. I've had the same at my favorite restaurant (Forthright, now closed) which used to be a sister place to here. Seemed better there. And the seafood bucatini noodles were really undercooked.
