My egg sandwich was incredible! One of the best I've had in Boston. Blueberry muffin was also great. The staff was very kind. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

So slow, I've never been at a place that takes over 45 minutes to make a coffee and a bagel. Please hire new staff, the current ones are inept. read more

This place is a GEM! So thrilled to have a nice cafe in the neighborhood. The cold brew is strong and tasty and there is an array of yuppie-friendly non-dairy milks, perfect for my new oat milk addiction. Reliable wifi and plenty of space to work, although it's a smallish space. Nice art and lots of plants inside to add to a chill vibe. The baked goods look fresh. read more

A much needed addition to the Mission Hill/Longwood area! I love spending weekend mornings sipping on one of their unique Lattes of the Month (the coconut pandan and black sesame are a couple notable favorites from last year). During the warmer months, I really enjoy their cold-brew thai tea on tap, which you can get nitro'd. Sandwich-wise, I find myself getting the Lucia Special (grilled tomato jam and cheese on sourdough) regularly. But really everything on the menu is very solid. And the baked goods! Oh the baked goods! Really the highlight of my trips to Solid Ground. If you're very lucky, you'll walk in and find the black ube sesame tart sitting in the case, which was an occasional weekend special last summer. If you see it, do yourself a favor and buy the whole dang tart (while a shake my fist at you for getting the last one)! It is one of the best desserts I've had, full stop. Think pumpkin pie, but earthier and infinitely more instagrammable. No ube tart? Definitely check out the biscuit with homemade jam. Biscuits are nice and flaky, and there's a nice spread of butter to cut through the sweetness of the fresh jam. Really, this place is perfection. read more

Solid Ground is amazing! Friendly staff serving fantastic Speedwell Coffee in a modest setting, and a really great selection of baked goods to boot. My mornings have been so much better since they opened. I wish they were open later (until 6 at least please?), but considering the other options in this neighborhood I'll take what I can get. Update: They extended their opening hours. Love this place. read more

I was so excited to try this place after all the amazing reviews. I ordered the cranberry chicken salad sandwich for lunch and when I picked it up, the bag was surprisingly lightweight, which concerned me - had they mistakenly given me a croissant? When I opened it and unwrapped the sandwich, I was shocked at how unbelievably tiny it was! There was not much filling and the whole thing was over in just a few bites. This definitely wasn't a regular-sized sandwich and certainly not worth almost $10. I will rate 2 starts instead of 1, because the actual filling was quite tasty, but the portion was so small I can't possibly justify giving this place another chance! read more

Solid Ground Cafe - I wish I had used something for scale, but the paper bag it's on is a small typical sandwich brown bag.. sandwich was good but TINY - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

FINALLY! A local cafe makes its way to to the Brigham Circle area. Longwood has a shortage of local cafes, and Solid Ground Cafe helps fill the void. There are only a few places inside to site, but it's rarely crowded. Most people seem to grab and go, so if you're looking for somewhere to site, you will likely find space. The food and drinks are incredible and reasonably priced. I love that they offer unique drinks that aren't offered everywhere else -- for example, this morning that had a cold-brewed Thai iced tea for sale as their drink special. Their pastries and food options are also fantastic. Whether I want a quick bite to eat for breakfast or a filling lunch, I can count on Solid Ground Cafe to provide an excellent array of options. read more

I was so excited when this long-awaited cafe finally opened! I've stopped by every two weeks or so since, though I've been tempted to go much more often. You can't go wrong with any of the drip coffee options. Last week I tried the coconut pandan latte -- not too sweet and with just the right amount of that nice, earthy pandan flavor. Bagels are great (and it's not easy to find a good bagel in Boston). I've tried the lox and capers, bacon cheddar scallion, and veggie cream cheeses. Again, you can't go wrong with any of them but I'm partial to the lox and capers, which comes w/ no extra charge. Hope Solid Ground Cafe sticks around for a long time!! read more

Delicious sandwiches - I got egg and cheese on a sesame bagel and my wife got egg and cheese on a croissant. We both loved them. Tea lattes were also tasty. read more

If you're in the area, come to this cute cafe! I was eagerly awaiting their opening for a while, so when they finally opened, I was super excited. Since then, I've had a lunch sandwich, a few types of pastries, and a latte and tea. Everything was quite good! I would recommend following them on Instagram to see the cool specials they often have--I'm planning on trying an ube sesame tart tomorrow. It also feels great to be supporting a local business, and the neighborhood feel of this cafe is evident in the friendly way the owners greet you when you walk in. I have studied once or twice at Solid Ground, and while it's not a very large space, I've always found somewhere to sit. They have WiFi too, so a pretty solid (hah!) place to get some work done. read more

Solid Ground Cafe - Cold brew Thai iced tea--amazing! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

A welcome addition to Brigham Circle since Green T (RIP!) burned down. I've tried two different lattes thus far- the mocha (with Taza chocolate) and the seasonal special Oats and Honey- and both were tasty and solid, although both had some grounds in the dregs (not a big deal IMO, but just FYI). Nice staff, cozy atmosphere, ticks the boxes for what you look for in a cafe. Their food menu looks tasty, as do the pastries, so I'll have to check those out soon too. read more

I work in the area and most shops don't open till around 7 or 8. I bumped into this place by accident. The place is small and has the cutest little atmosphere. I went for the wake up sandwich on crosssiant which I didn't notice I had to add the meAt and cheese lol. So I had egg and bacon no cheese. It was good just noticed the cheese missing after a few bites lol. I also ordered some kinda tropical ice tea which was good. For lunch or snack when ever I ordered a fruit pebble treat. I would say I'll be back again. Everything looks fresh and it was pretty good and reasonably priced. read more

So far, I'm impressed! We've been waiting months, and what seems like years, for a good coffee shop on the hill, and I think we've got it! It's been open maybe a week, and I've already been twice. The drip coffee options was either a single origin Ethiopian or the house, and both were excellent. The Ethiopian was a floral, aromatic coffee you'd expect from the region, so I know they've got their coffee business right. The bagel with bacon-cheddar-scallion cream cheese was delightful! (Yes, you read that right, they added another cheese to their cream cheese, and it was a good decision.) I'll update more after a few weeks, but from what I can tell, this place is off to a great start! read more

Prices are cheap, food and drinks have been nothing but absolutely stellar (as well as unique!), and really nice service! The seasonal beverages have been quite impressive. As a New Yorker, this place has the best bagel I've had in Boston so far, and I've lived here about two years now. Super friendly staff and I love the support they show their community through art exhibits on the walls! If you like your iced matcha sweet like me, I recommend that too!! And if you haven't had the Rock Solid sandwich yet... you're missing out. read more

Such an awesome neighborhood spot! Tried the biscuit with honey and jam and it was phenomenal. Also loved their seasonal latte special-- French toast latte macchiato was the perfect sweet treat. Great local place for bagels and coffee. They have a variety of options on the menu from savory to sweet and also have a special dessert or coffee on the menu for the day or throughout the week. It is a bit expensive for a place in this neighborhood but overall very happy with my experience there. The cashiers and chefs are wonderful as well. read more

Solid Ground Cafe - Everything bagel with sausage egg and American cheese - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Solid Ground has improved their service since my last review. Orders are much faster now. Keep it up!

Good coffee and great breakfast sandwiches. They have good vegetarian options (including Impossible Sausage).

I stopped here for the first time with some friends after brunch. On a whim, I tried their fall latte with almond milk. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of PSL's or other flavored lattes because they are too sweet, especially the ones from an unnamed large chain coffee shop run by a green mermaid... The fall latte, however, was excellent! If I ordered it again I would probably ask for a little less sweetener just because I personally prefer less sweet coffee, but it was also delicious in its original form. If you like a dirty chai latte, I think you'll really like this drink. They accept credit card and Apple Pay. There's no seating because of COVID, but the surrounding area makes for a nice place to stroll around with coffee in hand. Parking was primarily metered. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be back! read more

Their sandwiches are sooo good! I ordered a sandwich and iced latte for pick up. I usually don't like cafe food but the food here is always fresh no matter what time I come in and the hot coffees are a nice pick me up. However, I ordered something for pick up to be picked up right before my shift, but it felt like they created my iced latte right when I put in the order instead of closer to the set time for pick up because when I got it, it was watered down & it was disappointing. Nonetheless I'm never upset with what I get here! read more

I came in May and got the special drink of the month, an iced french toast latte macchiato. It was absolutely divine!! Their honey butter biscuit with jam hit the spot. Cafe staff were very helpful as well. read more

One of my favorite spots around this area!! Their prices are super reasonable, everyone is so kind, and the quality is amazing! I mean what more could you ask for? Been going here for a little over a year, and just tried their new Ruben sandwich... to die for!! Also during the pandemic it feels so much better supporting a small business. read more

Often a line at busy times but understandable because the coffee and food is great! They offer a pay it forward option which offers a chance for those not able to afford the food to receive some, which I love. Overall, cute little place in an otherwise questionable neighborhood. read more

My go-to coffee shop ever since I moved to Mission Hill! I've been here several times and ordered different drinks each time, and every single one has been delicious. They have some unique pastry options which are also super tasty. Local coffee shops with quality drinks usually tend to overcharge, but they have very fair prices too! read more

Me and my boyfriend love this place, we used to go almost every weekend when we lived in Roxbury. The coffee is always phenomenal, whether you get your own order or something from their specialty menu. The reason I'm leaving the 3/5 stars is because of the sandwiches. Today was the fourth time they've gotten my breakfast sandwich order wrong. I'm not sure how, the order is printed correctly on the ticket every time. I've gone back to get it corrected 2 of the 4 times, but it ends up taking them 30 min plus to give me a new sandwich OR they give me the wrong sandwich again. Today i didn't bother to go back and ask for my original order because i had to be somewhere and it would've taken too long. I've been disappointed too many times now, i don't think i'll be getting any more food from Solid Ground. read more

Love the staff, love the food, love the drinks! What ruins everything is the hour wait for a breakfast sandwich... what is that about? Even ordering ahead online and then going half an hour later to pick it up and it won't be started yet. Change your system for getting these sandwiches made because I want to love you so badly! SG isn't a restaurant, and barely a cafe (quite obvious with your complete lack of seating), so streamline everything so no one has to be on their legs, waiting, taking up what little space you have! read more

Solid place for the most part. Great coffee and yummy sandwiches. Sometimes the wait is a bit too long but I am going to cut them some slack as they are always working. I will return when i'm in the area. read more

Enjoyed the good food and coffee. While I want to support independent businesses, I'm not comfortable ordering food from here anymore. I witnessed unmasked and partial-masked (mouth covered only, nose exposed) patrons indoors with no enforcement by the cafe owners/staff. I didn't want to engage in confrontations so I just left. I'm concerned it's not a sanitary environment for food preparation or food pickup, due to risk of covid spread obviously, and regretfully I'm going to avoid Solid Ground now. I hope this (and all businesses) start taking policies which risk health of customers more seriously. read more

I've been waiting for Solid Ground Cafe to open for nearly a year. Mission Hill has sorely needed a good coffee shop and I'm so glad that Solid Ground chose to open here. The coffee options are great! They seem to be light roasts from Speedwell (based out of Plymouth, MA). The food options suffice for a cafe if your vegetarian or not. The lattes are well done and the alt milks they have are oat and soy, which is my preference with oat milk in a solid first place. The spot is key which is right in the heart of Brigham Circle. I'm so glad to have Solid Ground here. Did I mention they open at 6am so you can stop in on your way into downtown and grab a drink before school/work/etc. read more

Honestly my favorite cafe! Perfect for some take out, meeting up with a friend, or just treating yourself to some breakfast! The staff is amazing, the food's great, and their honey butter biscuit is TO DIE FOR. Not to mention, their decor/vibe is so calming and cute. Great place! read more

For $6.50, you would think this place would serve you the greatest bacon egg and cheese in the world, dipped in gold. Although the sandwich was edible, I've never left a breakfast place hungrier. I could've walked 100 feet to Dunkin and ordered a cheaper and tastier sandwich twice the size. To make matters worse, my girlfriend received almond milk in her tea when she asked for soymilk. The seating inside is not comfortable, so I honestly don't see a reason to ever come here when Mike's Donuts, Dunkin, and Milkweed are right around the corner. read more

Best breakfast sandwhich in Boston! You'd think it would be easy to make a simple egg and cheese but so many places just can't get it right. They use real eggs here! I know, crazy. I'm excited to finally see an independent cafe in Brigham Circle after so long! The hot chocolate was good, and I got a tasty blueberry muffin. This will now be my go to place to meet coworkers outside of work during the day. I didn't try any of their lunch food, but I was impressed by their offerings. The friend I went with got a honey and oat latte, which I found creative. Will be heading back for more gatherings and to try their lunch menu! read more
