This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and while I enjoyed the food, the experience left me very disappointed. We initially ordered our food to go, but after arriving, we decided we would rather dine in. We informed our waiter, who brought us water and seemed to acknowledge our request. However, shortly after, another waiter brought our food in to-go containers and told us that because we had originally placed a takeout order, we could not stay and eat because they were expecting to get busy. I have never experienced anything like this before. We were already there, had purchased our food, and simply wanted to enjoy our meal in the restaurant. Being asked to leave because they anticipated getting busy felt unwelcoming and poor customer service. It's unfortunate because I liked the food, but the overall experience has left a bad impression. I went there to do my schoolwork, and ate in, ordering a Genovese, house fries, and a coffee with cream and sugar. I sat at my table and worked, occasionally sipping my coffee or eating some of my sandwich. I used the clock on the wall to keep track of time. I ordered a second coffee, and then finished the sandwich and asked for my house fries to be put in a to go box. I paid a little less than 24 dollars and the employees were very polite, which I returned and then I was able to make my train to go turn in my work. read more

Loved the take on breakfast potatoes which were well seasoned and made on the grill. Not too greasy or heavy. Green omelette with green pepper, avocado and spinach was a great and unique combo. Omelette was prepared well without being too oily. One singular chocolate chip pancake was sufficient. Pancake was fluffy and well endowed with chocolate chips. Went here for the first time in 30 years , it has what should be a cool old school diner vibe, but, honestly what I ordered was overpriced and mostly inedible.Fresh squeezed orange juice that clearly wasnt AND it tasted spoiled. Pork chops that were small and overcooked to the point of one bite, I gave up chewing. Pancakes that I literally had to spit back into a napkin AFTER I paid extra to get real maple syrup. None of these things taken off except the orange juice where the girl clearly felt guilty after seeing me take one sip and grimace. I was told I had to talk to a manager about the other things. I didn't bother. I won't be going back. I love a good mom and pop business but this one with the upcharging and TRULY bad quality food should hang up the apron.They look good in theory but they're clearly riding on their past reputation. You know the portions are enormous when your order comes in TWO takeout containers! I ordered the eiffel tower ($16.95 on Uber eats) which came with 3 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of ham, a lot of potatoes, and 2 slices of buttered toast. In a separate container there were two pancakes and a bunch of fruit (apples, pears, oranges, mandarins, cantaloupe, kiwi, two types of grapes, blackberries, and raspberries). I wasn't particularly blown away by anything, everything tasted good. The fruit was sweet and all the pieces they gave were fresh. The potatoes were on the soft side (no crispy edges) but I liked how their potatoes weren't super salty the way other diners or brunch places sometimes do their potatoes. The pancakes were solid but almost tasted like they were made from pancake mix. I also ordered the albanian breakfast ($15.95 on Uber eats). This came with 3 eggs, buttered toast, lamb gyro, potatoes, lots of roasted red pepper, lots of olives, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, feta cheese, and tzatziki. The lamb gyro was really flavorful and the roasted red peppers were nice and smoky. I liked this plate better than the eiffel tower because I felt that there was a bigger variety of flavor. For eggs you can choose any style-- I asked for over medium and the eggs were perfectly cooked! For toast you can also choose between rye, raisin, white, and wheat. I'll definitely order from here again when I'm in the mood for diner food. read more

First off, I love this place. I love a good diner and this place is an old time classic diner. Big portions, comfort food, a true greasy spoon. It's been run by I think the same family for like forever. My issue this morning was I ordered two egg roll ups (burritos) with bacon and avocado and they came to $42. No sides, no coffee, just a burrito. I will grant you it was delicious, but $21 for an a tortilla two eggs a slice of avocado and one strip of bacon and slice of cheese does not make $21. Had a bad experience here today. They try to oversell on everything. My kids ordered pancakes and the waiter asked if they would like the bacon or sausage on the side, without informing us it's $6.99 for each item. They tried to upsell on everything and when I told the front staff that we weren't aware of these charges, she pretty much gave me a look like "I don't give a shit." What she actually said was "yeah we can make it more clear next time." I would NEVER go back. It smelled, it was overpriced, overcrowded, and food quality is poor - the club sandwich was cold and disgusting. Everything is deeply fried. Don't go there! read more

Completely underwhelming. After waiting for a seat for close to 40 mins, I was looking forward to trying this "neighborhood favorite." I ordered the Mediterranean breakfast. What i got was: greasy eggs (redeeming quality: they were over easy as requested) greasy mushy tasteless potatoes (no redeeming qualities, not even crispy edges), the thinnest slices of eggplant that were (sadly) breaded and fried in what must be stale oil given the taste, steak tips (chewy), and the best part -- and only fresh ingredient! -- feta cheese. Orange juice (they claim is fresh...but tasted exactly like bottled - you can kind of tell from the color; you'll have to trust me on the taste) was a whopping $6. You can literally buy a whole half gallon of OJ at the grocery store for less than that. Other reviews said it was reasonable for the price - this entrée was $19. Trendy brunch places charge the same and serve fresh, higher quality food & more creative dishes. This may have been a large quantity, but the quality was severely lacking. I feel duped. read more

Review for delivery only: I ordered though the yelp app. There is a great variety of food, it was hard to choose what to order! We got the veggie breakfast and the 2222. Estimated deli every time was an hour. After an hour had passed and out food wasn't here I called to ask where the delivery was and they said it just left. Our food was about 10 min late, and still semi warm (I don't blame them, it's 20 degrees outside). It was SO much food- I wasn't expecting two boxes for each order! We have breakfast for the next couple days. Food was good- quantity was what really impressed me. You get a lot of bang for your buck. read more

I have been to Martin's in the past and the food is just OK. Typical low-end diner. However, I thought I would try them again for old time's sake and I was reminded why I stopped going some years ago. First, there is a very uncomfortable, crowded bar. If you are by yourself, they always try to push you to it. However, in this case there were several small tables available and I asked or one. The host said they needed to ask for "permission" to seat me there. If you want to insist that customers sit at your bar, invest in one that is not so uncomfortable and crowded. Also, invest in some ventilation so that you don't smell like grease when you leave. I went to Eagle's Deli and had the experience I should have had at Martin's. Maybe next time I will remember why I haven't been in so long and won't make the same mistake again. read more

Martins is a hidden Jem I went twice this weekend and both times had a great breakfast. The place is small but the menu is huge and the portions are great left stuffed both days . It's worth driving too or don't go and there will be more room for me LOL read more

I would never have believed anyone who told me that there was a legit diner in Brookline Village. I stumbled across Martin's Coffee Shop when I was actually just looking for coffee. But I had some free time, so I grabbed a seat at the bar and was promptly given a menu and poured a cup of coffee. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast, which was a ridiculous feast (that cost less than most entrees at your normal Boston brunch spot). I got french toast, a mound of fresh fruit, three eggs, fresh veggies, and breakfast potatoes. Nothing was out of this world delicious, but it was flavorful and well cooked and I don't actually need anything else to be happy. I'm planning on returning very soon. read more

Refreshingly old-fashioned and unpretentious for a high-buck neighborhood. Stopped by mid-morning on a Friday and there was room at the counter: I imagine there's a wait at busier times. Food was kind of diner+ with a varied menu. Props for having both Red Hot and Tabasco Sauce, and providing real butter for my English muffin. A little puzzled that the corned beef hash comes with hash browns. I was certainly not happy to see a giant block of margarine, probably used for frying eggs. This place is fine if you have no other options. They nickel and dime you for everything. I added strawberries, blueberries and raspberries to my French toast and each were $1. I got 8 blueberries, one strawberry cut in quarters and 6-7 visibly moldy raspberries. If you're looking for a holistic breakfast, go for the Eiffel Tower. 3 eggs, potatoes, 2 ham, a couple bacons, 2 pieces of toast, 2 pancakes with an AMAZING display and array of fruits. I know with every Martin's visit, I'm set for the whole day without eating anything else. American breakfasts are the best! I think it was cute how one of the old men in charge offered me a steak knife as he noticed it was difficult for me separating out the orange from the peel with a blunt knife. Despite the hectic atmosphere of the kitchen, they still manage to make customer service a priority. Little shop but food was amazing! I had the Genovese with onion rings and it was great, juicy chicken breast pressed and juicy, two layers thick, the pesto was perfect without being overwhelming and just the right amount of tomatoes. The onion rings were dark but perfect only about the size of a half dollar, but cooked perfectly, when you bite through it the onion does not pull out, and the batter was flaky and just a dab crispy. My sister had the California club and it was also tasty and juicy, cooked perfectly. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but the food is top notch! It's a must try and we will be going back! This place has really gone down hill. I ordered French toast with ricotta and berries. It was delivered cold, dry, and without ricotta. After eating a few bites, I returned it and ordered an omelette. At the end, I was charged for the French toast, because I "ate half of it". I paid the bill, no complaints--but I won't be eating there again (and by extension neither will friends and family, who I used to bring to Martins on a regular basis). Definitely average breakfast, nothing worth raving about. VERY small place to eat, not somewhere to have a comfortable, enjoyable or slow morning. Customer service is bottom of the barrel. Servers wear gloves, but also take their lunch breaks to eat with them on. Not sanitary by any means. Not to mention $6.99 for a glass of orange juice?
