    Country Fried Chicken Sandwich
    Matt L.

Meh. I was excited for this place and it was a bit of a thud. Start with the good: good service, good Americano. I asked for tips between the Cuban and fried chicken sandwiches, and the waiter confidently recommended the chicken. "Great," thought I. No. No, not at all. It wasn't bad, but this was an airport-tier chicken sandwich, overcooked beyond moistness and then half-rescued by a good slaw. Surely fries will save it? Nah. The fries were also lifeless and overcooked, starchy. I wanted to like this place. They were so nice! I also saw other people with what looked like tasty plates. I wouldn't bother again.

Amazing brunch this morning at Milkweed in Mission Hill! It has been years since I had been to this spot but I've been wanting to come back and the timing finally worked out. The space is very popular so there was a wait but there is a great park across the street. We were sat at the chefs counter which is always my favorite! We got to see so many of the dishes prepared and waiting for pickup. Extreme props to the back of house staff who were hauling today and it was great to watch them at work! Service was great and the food was incredible. I had the Shakshuka with meatball served with crusty bread. It was packed with flavor and I literally could've licked the pan clean. We also shared a chocolate chip pancake and my partner had traditional sausage and eggs - all cooked perfectly. A final shout-out to their iced pumpkin coffee, just the right amount and not overpowering with the pumpkin flavor. We will definitely be back, hopefully for dinner sometime soon!

Good service and cute spot, unfortunately not my favorite food. Everyone working there was very friendly and service was fast despite it being busy. We sat outside which was really nice. I ordered an iced chai latte which was a bit weak and my sister ordered their speciality Lucky Charms latte which was good. To eat, I got the avocado toast which came with potatoes. It was all a bit bland to me, no seasoning on anything. My sister ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant which was very greasy. I would be open to coming back and trying something else.

Hidden gem! Portions are massive!! All the flavors are there too. Their french toast is very good! Definitely coming back more often! Service was prompt and ambiance was low key and no frills

01/17/26 7am came in with my Mom this local spot is great! The food is quality and delicious food is prepared great! The customer service is on point, staff is friendly and attentive. This is our go to spot for breakfast in the morning! The place is welcoming and has a a wholesome vibe! The chef can cook their ass off! No complaints with the food here! I had the morning madness and my mom LOVES I means LOVES the Hash. She gets is 90% time we come her! My order was the sausage, bacon, ham and home fries and French toast. I like my sausage, ham, bacon well done it was cooed perfectly! So today I ordered a lunch item to go! Fried chicken sandwich it had slaw fresh sliced apples and the bun was fresh and side of fries to go either it, fries crispy on outside and soft inside! The chicken sandwich was phenomenal chicken was moist inside and nice crisp on the outer layer. Was very satisfied with my choice! Will have to try the dinner menu one of these days! But if you haven't been here you need to, you won't be disappointed!

I ordered breakfast for delivery to my Airbnb, even though the restaurant wasn't far from me. Since it was snowing in Boston, I decided to opt for delivery instead. I went with the French toast with bacon and a nice cup of hot chocolate. Unfortunately, the delivery person dropped my food off at the wrong location, despite me being very specific when I placed the order. That wasn't the restaurant's fault, though. When I finally got my food, everything was still hot--especially the hot chocolate, which was a nice touch. The only thing I'd suggest is providing more than one little syrup for the French toast. For the hefty portion I got, at least three would've been ideal. Overall, it was a delicious and enjoyable breakfast. I'll definitely be back, hopefully next time in person when I'm in Boston!

Overall, this is a super cute brunch spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate its large crowd. We were served quickly and efficiently all while being served with friendliness and understanding! I loved the variety of options on the menu ranging from breakfast all the way to dinner (which I definitely intend to come back and compare to their brunch), as well as classic egg scrambles to their unique dutch babies! My only complaint is that menu is pretty pricey, even for Boston, and I felt that the dishes didn't deliver on portion size or flavor in terms of their cost. However, I would still say this iconic breakfast spot is one of the best in the area and worth a try if you're nearby!

Great savory and sweet menu options. I ordered the steak scramble and it was an excellent portion size (I took home a doggy bag). Love the location in Mission Hill, it's right across the street from a library and playground which made for a great start to my day when we were in Boston.

We were attracted by the pictures posted by many other yelpers, and decided to stop in to give it a try. We were seated right away and after 5 minutes of placing an order, our order came out! I went with the Nutella and strawberry French toast and my brother went with a power bowl. The French toast was soft and had a slight crunch to it, and my brother ended up finishing his entire bowl. The food tasted super fresh and service was extremely respectful and kind. Would definitely give this location a try if you're ever in town. The food is A-mazing!

Cute down to earth warm vibe brunch restaurant. My two-egg any way was okay with a big amount of potatoes and two pieces of toast. I also got the beef empanada that was extremely disappointing. The crust outside was overly deep fried and hard to chew, and the inside was mostly potato without much flavor or beef Overall pricey and not worth it.

I came here on a Sunday around 12 and was able to be seated within 5 minutes. Employees are very friendly. Cute restaurant. The menu had some great options. I loved the bacon avocado scramble. Solid brunch spot.

Side of berry pancake and side of scrambled eggs (no kids menu but they were nice enough to give us just a single pancake)

Fun warm atmosphere. Very nice staff. Really fun items on the menu--will try out more. The items we landed on didn't really impress. Chorizo Benedict Benedict's come with poached eggs, but these were so overdone they were hard and rubbery. Like they were microwaved for 10 minutes. And the "chipotle" hollandaise was pretty bland. Not sure how they keep their hollandaise warmed throughout breakfast, but they should check the temp to make sure it's not too hot a cooking the egg yolk while it's on the warmer. Chorizo tasted exactly like a lunchables pepperoni. It's definitely not high quality. It's low grade, over cured mystery meat with synthetic nitrates or something fake tasting. Not real chorizo. The chorizo also disappointed the Huevos Rancheros rancheros I got. The ranchero sauce was nice, and black beans with salsa roja wasn't bad. Would've liked fresh pico or more fresh ingredients than the "from the bottle" sauces they threw on top--but it would've been fine had there been a central taste to drive it all home. The chorizo just disappointed the whole dish. For the kid, we got a Side of berry pancake and a side of scrambled eggs (no kids menu but they were very nice to give us just a single pancake instead of the whole 3 stack meal) I think if we went with the other fun menu items and steered clear of the Mexican food I was hoping for when I ordered, i think it would've been a better experience. It's clear that they had something that worked at the original restaurant. And their menu has a bunch of fun creative ideas. Some of the plates I saw come out looked a little too cookie cutter, like they were pre packaged and just microwaved, but I won't judge the other dishes til I try em. Again, fun atmosphere, exciting stuff on the menu, and lovely staff. We will try em again !

    Dutch Baby Pancake
    Kim D.

I loved the Milkweed experience. I wanted to love the Dutch baby pancake. (Keep reading Dutch baby fans!!) I'd been eyeing it since the early Covid days (five years in the making), and my anticipation set expectations that didn't quite align. There's some personal backstory here. When I lived in Buffalo, NY, a restaurant made something like a Dutch baby one weekend a month--and I was there every time. I wanted that meal, not the one I got. But that's on me, not Milkweed. My friend, on the other hand, thought the Dutch baby was perfect (and she's a chef), so clearly, this was a me issue, not a Milkweed issue. The restaurant itself? Very cool. It was PACKED. The host was incredibly nice, especially considering the hour-long wait had some people getting cranky. I had a reservation, and even though we were five minutes late, he kept apologizing. Honestly, I felt bad--he was handling a lot of very crabby customers. Service was fantastic--attentive and on point. My friend requested a soft scramble for her eggs, and they nailed it. Parking can be tricky, but on a Sunday, it was surprisingly easy. .

In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.
