Kpop inspired, Butter - cognac, rye, rum and butter tincture. Very good.

Fantastic artsy speakeasy that actually isn't very dark that does a great job with classic cocktails as well as offering some very creative drinks. I started off with genever Martinez not on the menu, and it was done perfectly. I also tried drinks off of their menu and for that week, there was a KPop theme, so I went with BUTTER - cognac, rye, rum, amaro and butter tincture. As a huge fan of a vieux carre, this drink hit all of the right notes and is easily one of my favorite cocktails this year. Service is solid and the whole experience is informal yet provides one of the best cocktail experiences in Boston.

I loved this place! It has a very subtle entrance, just a door among a bunch of other little restaurants/ businesses. And you go into a dim painted hallway to wait (the line was sorta long but it moved decently quickly) The host was super friendly and enthusiastically explained the bug themed menu -- which was so cool and beautiful. Each page has fun facts abt the bugs too :) The interior was also super well decorated, with more bug things hanging around. We were seated at the bar, bartender was also super cool and friendly! Drinks: Ordered the locust, ladybug, and a special yuzu drink that came in a baby yoda. They all come out with such character and style! -- The locust was very strongly minty and chocolatey, which is not my favorite flavor profile in a drink, but the vibes of it were too fun not to try. -- The ladybug was very tasty and strawberry! Was a solid drink -- And the yoda one we were able to try a yuzu liquor before that was nicely tart w a hint of bitterness, but unfortunately the drink itself was very strong in alcohol taste. Overall loved the vibes, perhaps ordered the wrong drinks but I'd 100% go back to try other drinks and do it for the experience

Such a cute little speakeasy type bar! The entrance is in an alley but once you pass two doors, it is a cute and cozy place! I wished I found this place much earlier while I lived in Boston! They have an ever changing menu. I came for pre dinner drinks and the menu was bug themed. While I don't specifically like bugs, I did like the drinks! I got the ladybug drink which was fruity and tart (just right for me). I would come back again to try out the different menus

I don't drink cocktails as much as I used to, so I am not the best judge of the quality of the drinks here, but I did sample my friends' drinks! Each drink is $15 (so not bad by Manhattan standards?) and they include an automatic gratuity of 20%, so at least you don't have to think about calculating at the end in a slightly buzzed state. We came on a Wednesday night and waited around 20+ minutes for a table of three. The guy manning the line was really funny and personable and was wearing the best Golden Girls/TMNT t-shirt. My only critique is we went from standing at the door to standing in a high-traffic spot for at least one round of drinks before we finally nabbed a table. I knew this place was my jam by the heavily cat-themed decor and menu. Each cocktail was named after one of the cats of backbar and the names were pretty funny (and rather appropriate for each kitty). For an orange cat - "Clementine: Golden, Fluffy, Citrus." Peep the decor, including a small book with a cat on it that said "I Could Pee on This" and a spam tin labeled CRAM. I liked my mocktail, which was a no-alcohol version of their Kimchee drink, which tasted like cold kimchee soup (actually incredibly refreshing on an unseasonably warm day). Also tried my friend's Eno, which was a bit too heavy for me on the whiskey. Overall, a fun place to hang out with buddies or to take a date. The sign is very easy to find from the street, so not technically a speakeasy. I recommend going early on Tuesday to beat the line.

Best bartender ever!!! Attentive service and delicious drinks. Definitely worth a visit. We shall return!

Best cocktails I've had since I moved to the Boston area. The bartender was knowledgeable and attentive, if you don't know what you like, they can figure something out! The bar itself is small and cozy, there is normally a line to get in though so expect a wait!

New favorite cocktail bar in Boston! This place is a little speakeasy tucked away in an alley in Somerville. I've tried to visit a couple times before, but it's tiny and if you don't arrive right when it opens the line gets pretty crazy. I've just given up every other time I've tried to check it out. I showed up right around 5:30pm this time and the place was already full, but with only two groups ahead of us we knew it was worth the wait. While we were waiting in the hall, a closet door popped open with a tiny little bar inside and we were able to grab a cocktail from a limited menu before we were seated. Such a genius idea that made the 30 minute wait a lot more bearable. Once we got inside, the experience definitely lived up to the hype. They have an extensive bird-themed cocktail menu at the moment, along with a few impressive small bites to snack on (A+ pimento cheese dip and friend chicken sandwich!) All the cocktails we tried were really well balanced with so many complex flavors. The menu also includes all the ingredients and helpful descriptions so it's easy to find something you like. You get the vibe that every single person who works there is a mixologist - they're all so helpful and excited to walk you through the different options. Awesome date night spot if you're willing to wait for your table. I loved trying drinks I normally wouldn't because this place has a way of making sophisticated cocktails really approachable. I also learned that they host all kinds of classes and events which are officially on my Boston bucket list. Very cool spot!

    Off menu drink was amazing

Such a great experience. The drinks were tasty and the vibes were so high. We loved the bartenders they made such fun and unique drinks and are so knowledgeable.

It was hard to choose one, but I got the A Perfect Circle and it was quite tasty. I'm eager to try some of their other drinks, since the cocktails were definitely the highlight of the experience for me. The dim sum portions were larger than I expected, which meant we ordered way too much food. We had the fried chicken, the cucumber salad, the shrimp, the pork wontons, the soy sauce noodles, the daikon/enoki dish (I forget the name) and the charred broccoli. There wasn't anything I didn't like, but I did find that the flavor profile seemed very similar for many of the items--it seemed like most things were topped with a generous portion of chili oil, scallions, and sesame seeds. I found that this contributed to a fairly uniform flavor experience and was getting a little weary of chili oil after several dishes. The food was also spicier than I anticipated (though to be fair, I have a low spice tolerance, so others might disagree.) I would have enjoyed some less spicy options to balance out our meal. Overall, all the food was good, though, but I think if I come back I'd get fewer items (3-4 would have been plenty for 2 people) and that might also help with everything blurring together. The service was great and our waitstaff was helpful and attentive.

The bartender was great, he was so patient even with how busy it was making sure to always check up. For food, the Goi Ca/Fluke was so good. It was flavorful and the texture. The peanut butter sauce wasn't too nutty and went so well with the fish. I ate every little piece up. We also ordered the Wagyu Viet Carpaccio which was also good. Not a fan of the layout of the restaurant. I don't like the long table in the center for parties of 2, it felt a bit awkward to be so close to other groups and there were large vases of fresh flowers which, albeit were very beautiful, I think should have been moved after parties are seated. We ordered quickly after perusing the (rather short) menu, most of which was either small plates and cocktails . Our first plate was the hainan chicken arancini. I really liked the contrast in textures between the crispy exterior and the tender chicken and rice mix on the inside. Overall flavour was not bad, too, but I'm not sure that it was exactly good enough to merit the price point of $18. Next was the Xi'an street noodles, which was probably my favourite dish of the meal. The noodles were very well cooked - chewy but not too soft - and I loved the sauce, with the gentle peanut aroma on top of the various spices they used. One comment was that the chilli crisp, which was tasty, was very lacking (in amount) and as a consequence the dish was really not spicy at all. Finally we had the chilli crisp buffalo chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was boneless (I was expecting something more like chicken wings), which made for very clean eating :) The buffalo sauce was nice (and perhaps a bit spicier than the aforementioned chilli crisp) and the chicken itself was very rich and juicy. Portion size was quite large too and overall I was very happy with this plate. For drinks we ordered the Jaded, which was a fun matcha-themed cocktail (even the marshmallow was matcha-flavoured) and a (spirit-free) cranberry limeade, which was surprisingly refreshing and sweet. Overall a yummy meal, but definitely very expensive. I would be interested to try some more of their cocktails, which seem very creative, but I'm not sure if I would be keen to come again primarily for the food. (To be fair, though, this is often the modus operandi of these restaurants that specialise in small plates and drinks )

To drink, I got a coffee. The coffee was fine - not amazing but not bad either. The omelet was just okay - it could have used some more salt. A little bland. I did love the home fries - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and very well seasoned. The toast tasted like grocery store bread, so that was a little disappointing for the price. So to sum up: on the positive side, ambiance and service were great. Home fries were delicious. Portions were generous. On the meh side, omelette and bread were bland (plus they were no longer hot by the time they came out, so that was strange). The one star is solely for the cocktails and the excellent service from the bartender. We started with the Hazlet Rye sourdough, which was dense and dry. It was surprising that they thought this was acceptable to serve. For the four courses we had the Hamachi crudo and kohlrabi salad, leek cannelloni, silken tofu and local lobster, and for dessert panna cotta and chocolate torte. The kohlrabi salad was the only bright spot -- it was at least fresh and tasted okay. The hamachi crudo had almost no flavor. The leek cannelloni was overwhelmingly bitter, it was supposed to be a burnt onion miso sauce that tasted totaaly burnt. The silken tofu was literally a large block of tofu with broth poured over it, with no real texture or flavor. The lobster dish was heavy and overly rich. The hollandaise and lobster pie on the side did not balance each other and the overall dish felt dense. Dessert was equally disappointing. The chocolate torte was not a torte but a slice of dry, mediocre cake. A grocery store cake would have been better. The panna cotta was essentially whipped cream and lacked the texture that panna cotta should have. On a positive note, the cocktails were very good. We had the Timepiece and One Tricky Pony and both were excellent. The non alcoholic Automat Spritz was also well done. The bartender provided great service and was the highlight of the night. This restaurant has good reviews and we were super excited to try it. Maybe the Valentine's Day menu was an off night and the regular menu is better. However, at this price point the lack of flavor and cohesion is hard to overlook. There are many better options in this range and we likely won't be back.
