No hard feelings but I just wasn't impressed with this place. We got stuck sitting right by the door which meant we were freezing especially every time someone came in. The drinks are very overpriced ($18) and I would be fine paying that if the drinks were amazing but it seems like they spend more time on the presentation than the taste. And finally the menu was completely different than what's posted online. For someone who has food restrictions, that's a little annoying. Overall, it's a nice place, great little speakeasy in an easy to get to location and even has parking. Service was great too. I just don't think it's worth the price and the drinks won't make me come back.

Such a fun time! I feel like this place was actually a speakeasy, hidden and with a password. I made a reservation for a large party and we were promptly seated. Inside is big enough to fit a couple tables and bar seating. Kitchen closes at 11pm and last call was around 10:45pm. We got there for our 10:30pm seating and ordered almost the entire menu! Everything tasted sooo delicious! I was surprised at the quality of food given it was a speakeasy bar. The drinks were also very special and we even shared the fishbowl at the end! Some of the drinks came with a show, some came with a nice presentation. Their music selection was also on point! Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely come back with friends!

Next Door is the perfect spot for your next date night or girls night out! Nextdoor has a classy, intimate , and sexy ambiance that makes it a fun late night spot. I love the elevated decor and that you feel like you're in a hidden cellar. The cocktail menu is very unique and playful - you can tell a lot of thought went into the drinks. My first round was the starboy which was fruity and a bit sour - the dry ice presentation was fun as well. My second was the Walter white which tasted like a fruity soda and was even served with a little blue bag of rock candy to resemble breaking bad. Very fun experience and both drinks were not strong but had a kick. Service is very attentive!

Wow! Loved this speakeasy. Drinks and ambiance were so pretty. Service was awesome and we sat next to the bar. The bartender was so open to help guide us through the menu and made me my own drink based on what i liked! Loved coming here and will be back.

The drinks here are out of this world. The flavor combination and balance is mind blowing. Super cute vibes and very good, friendly service. I was so lucky to find it when I went to visit Boston. Can't wait to come back again

A bit out of the way from the regular Boston area, but well worth it for a fun experience! The vibes were really fun! Make a res, check the res for info beforehand, and have a fun time!! Really chill yet lowkey fancy vibes inside. The drinks are really really fun! With a fancy presentation. Good ol speakeasy vibes Got the - Catch Me If You Can (fun presentation) - Serenade (seasonal but not super special imo) - Walter White (would get again) - Starboy (really yummy)

The best, most creative, delicious, and beautifully/originally presented cocktails I've EVER had. Gorgeous interior with the perfect vibes for a speakeasy. A must visit bar for anyone in Boston! Service is always great and while the drinks can be pricey, they are seriously worth every penny. A great spot for a romantic date night or fun night of cocktails with the girls. Can't say enough good things about this place.

If I could recommend only one bar in Boston, it would be this! Refer to my earlier review! Been here SO MANY TIMES! Best speakeasy, great drinks and wonderful time! Good vibes!

This was so much fun, and definitely worth the visit. The atmosphere is swanky yet cozy, without being pretentious. This was an impromptu trip, and neither of us had fancy outfits which made me a little nervous, but our "business casual" attire didn't leave us sticking out too badly. I felt like the Tier 2 shellfish tower was a worthy splurge, and I love places that essentially serve snacks to share, so this was right up my alley. That being said, the cocktails were the star here, so even if you just go for a drink, it's a lovely experience.

I really enjoyed Next Door. I thought the food and drink were great, even if service was a bit off. You enter through Pazza on Porter and advise the staff you are there for Next Door. We were a bit early and they wouldn't take us until our reservation time, which is fine. But since they wouldn't seat us early, they then didn't take us to Next Door until after our reservation. Instead, they took those who arrived later than us and with later reservations. And then we get in there and the place was not at all full. Make it make sense. Anyway, once we get to Next Door, the staff is really friendly. It's so pretty inside. Their cocktail selection is really awesome. Food selection is super curated and there were definitely a few dishes I liked. I loved my cocktails, especially La Ultimate Vez. In another make it make sense moment, I asked for no aioli on my tuna tacos, so they added roe, which doesn't come on the tacos? I had to send it back. My friend and I were so confused. Clearly, not the brightest here, hence the three stars. Though it wasn't our server's fault--she was amazing. But once they got it right, it was delicious. And so was the ceviche. The fish was fresh and tasty. I'd return but pray for better service.

It's definitely an experience. Don't go without a reservation. If you can find it (good luck *giggle*) you'll have to wait to be taken back. Once you're being escorted, prepare for the experience. It's actually really cute if you like that kind of thing. The cocktails were lovely, but I didn't care for the wines. The food was nice, but missed a little on flavor. The presentation, however, was top notch. Overall a good experience.

I've heard this is one of the best speakeasies in Boston and I can see why! This was a very traditional speakeasy where the entrance is hidden and you have to go through the pizzeria and answer a riddle and give a passcode for the door! It was so fun and really amplified the experience of the place! Upon entering, the space is really small but elegantly designed and they have a mix of classy and fun drinks! I tried the lock and key (clear) and this blue bag one that's supposed to be breaking bad crystal meth vibes with the fun touch of the rock candy! The drinks itself were both flavors I didn't expect and not as sweet which made them just ok. The lock and key was giving aloe juice and the blue drink was more sour than expected, almost lemony. Presentation was a 5/5 though and it was a nice surprise when they gave the lock and key drink in a treasure chest teeming with dry ice! Would recommend coming here at least once for the experience!

A cocktail is served in a coconut shell with a textured exterior, topped with pineapple leaves, a grilled lime slice, and a decorative straw. The drink is placed on a dark marble table, with other glasses and drinks visible in the background, indicating a bar setting.

Met 4 colleagues at The Red Fox for dinner, a recommendation from a friend of my colleague. Tough to find initially and very unsuspecting upon arrival. As you enter the front door (think like walking into a foyer of a small apartment building) you go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. Then wow, this place is awesome! Small entry way into the restaurant with a hostess immediately greeting you. The bar is your first view of the place and it was packed. I'd describe it as dimly light, great atmosphere and ambience, almost a speakeasy feel. I'd recommend a reservation. The hostess walked us to our table, walking along the bar line with small 2-4 top tables to our left, we then turned left into the main dining room. 5 of us and we were seated at a horseshoe style table, plenty of room for up to 6 adults. Service was instant, she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps. The drinks arrived along with bread service. They added small side plates with oils and olives, a nice touch. The cocktails were fantastic as was the homemade bread. A unique twist with my cocktail (kettle one & soda), was the single ice cube that was a long rectangle cube that was so clear you couldn't see it! The cubes length was the same as the tall glass it was served in and didn't melt. For dinner I listened to our server who recommended the Chicken Parmigiana with a chefs twist using a vodka infused sauce, this dish was amazing! My colleagues all shared the same feelings that this meal was spectacular. Highly recommend The Red Fox!

Their martinis are always spot on. The Parmesan martini is shockingly good, especially as someone who doesn't like dirty Martinis. The spinach and ricotta appetizer with the sage butter is so good. We were burned two times (not egregiously, but where we had to go to mediocre establishments that had seating availability for a reason), but no more. Parla isn't an off-the-charts Italian restaurant, but it was above average and the cocktail situation is excellent. I stumbled across Parla last year when we were looking for dining options, but alas, not in time to secure a reservation. The cocktail menu looked intriguing (particularly their ye olde shrub cocktail mix and match section) and the location seemed convenient. This time around we made dinner reservations about two months in advance, which I'd pretty much recommend for anything in this neighborhood if you have the ability. We came by this past Sunday before the Celtics/Timberwolves (there were multiple patrons wearing jerseys, including us) around 5pm in the rain. The entrance is a little nondescript but ultimately easy enough to spot. It's a pretty intimate interior with limited seating (maybe 10 tables or so?) and only four bar stools at the bar in the back. We were seated by the front window which was nice but again, offered at that time merely an excellent view of early spring weather. The food we had was good, and yet not the selling point - sort of a compliment, sort of not. We split the seared octopus app, which was interesting but ultimately not my favorite way to eat that particular seafood; I'm used to it grilled. We were both a little surprised to see it in salad form and had to refer back to the menu, which did mention one of the other ingredients as arugula (a fair clue). I would recommend they put the word "salad" in the official name of the app though; my guess is we probably opt for something else if we had that additional information. That said, it was fine - I wasn't crazy about the pairing of octopus and balsamic vinegar/arugula, which to me and my chum dominated the palate over the octopus, which should totally be the star of the dish. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm, which was very good - decent portion for sure and I almost finished it despite eating two other meals fairly recently. Interestingly, the best part is the sauce - it's a sweeter sauce that's thick but not chunky. Really good, and something I'd get again in a pinch. The cocktails are really something. For me, I stumbled a little out of the gate with the shrub section, opting for a mule with strawberry peppercorn. It wasn't bad but for my palate, it felt off - that's a drink I should be getting in July, not a nippy/rainy March evening. On me completely. My chum got the margarita equivalent and liked it enough to order it two more times. But I shifted to a very cool gimmick they had, which I believe was called Dungeon Master (an homage to D&D?), where you rolled a 20-sided die and had to pick whatever cocktail was associated with the specific number, no questions asked. My chum gets a little naughty with gin so couldn't risk it and had to just watch mournfully on the other side of the table as I played twice. Both of my mystery cocktails had gin in it, so...probably the right decision, at least from my perspective. I don't want to provide spoilers and damage the integrity of the game, but the nuanced layers to each drink are exactly why I love mixology/a good cocktail - the only kind of science I truly get behind. (I also liked learning about clouds in 5th grade). Very cool feature and something I'd love to make an annual tradition. Our waitress was great. She initially seemed a little eccentric/ditzy (in a good way), but it was clear that that was a mirage - she was VERY observant and at the end of the meal knew my first name for my specific credit card because earlier she'd noticed my head tilt when someone at another table used it. Really impressive stuff and a huge asset for the restaurant. She also was super knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails specifically, and it was fun to guess what was in each of my mystery beverages with her after I took a few experimental nips. Very cool, very unique establishment. Glad to finally find a selling point for the North End.
