I came here for some drinks and food with a few friends after an event in the Wyeth Room of the hotel (oh, the Langham. So beautiful and relatively un-fussy or pretentious). I had previously bookmarked the Fed for the jazz nights they put on every Friday - the bar is stunning and the menu harkens back to the building's history as the Federal Reserve of Boston. I went with a classic gin martini because, well, given the surroundings, how could I not. Expertly made, with extra olives. Worth the headache the day after. We also ordered the lobster roll with fries, the pork belly bites, the crab cakes and the Brussels sprouts. My favorite item was the fries - super crispy, wide planks of potato. Give me a martini and the fries and I'm a happy camper. I thought the pork belly was a bit too on the fatty side, and didn't try the other dishes. Loved the complimentary kettle chips to start. Overall, a beautiful, classy atmosphere for a date night or special occasion - not too loud (I truly mean that, we were probably the loudest people there, and that's saying something). GM walks around like Oceans 13, an arrogant and useless propeitor, totally ignorant of impending fall. (And they won't make it) Feel bad for the investors. Meh food. Salty industry people, less one. Loved the cozy, yet chic pub vibe and charming staff! We came to try The Fed's famous cocktails, but we were blown away by all our dinner selections as well. When the staff heard it was my mother's first time in Boston, Chef John made it extra special by creating a delicious Seafood tower for us! (The scallop ceviche was to die for!) We also had their pretzel, clam chowder, pasta dish, and I'll be making another trip back just to have the grilled asparagus salad again. So fresh and tasty. I gave 'Mix Master Marco' a challenge to surprise me with a cocktail, and the refreshing daiquiri he created was just amazing. Hats off to the whole team, we'll definitely be back! read more

I stayed at the hotel and had dinner here with my husband after he arrived late one evening. I love the English pub feel and they have beautiful and elegant furniture (like the rest of this gorgeous hotel). We sat at a quiet table in the corner and our server came over and gave us water and some complimentary chips. I chose one of their mocktail drinks called the Blood Orange Diesel, which consisted of blood orange, rosemary, and grapefruit tonic. VERY good. $10. It was actually really delicious - I loved the ginger/orange flavor. Not too sweet like mocktails tend to be. Noms. On Sunday and Monday from 3-9pm they have $2 oysters so my husband ordered 6 of those and loved them. We settled on their fresh salad as a starter with spinach, pears, candied nuts and vanilla dressing. For entrees we split their tavern burger and the steak frittes. Both served with perfectly cooked French fries - I didn't want to stop eating them... steak was delicious and the burger was VERY good. Great ambiance and a huge specialty cocktail menu - a nice place to come for lite bites and drinks before or after an event. I stopped by for a few drinks after work on a Monday night. The vibes were great from the start. It's a pretty swanky place, what you'd expect from a nice hotel bar, but elevated. I really liked the seating, with each person getting their own couch-like chair. Before our drinks came, the waitress brought over some complimentary snacks (chicharrones and nuts). I'm not sure what kind of nuts those were, but if I could, I'd buy a big bag of them. Usually I'm not a fan of grabbing expensive cocktails, but this place did it right. The drinks were sizable and had flair to them. The Gerri Hawaii drink actually came out on fire, which was pretty exciting to see. I really enjoyed the "I'm Fed Up" drink, which had a fun candy-coated rim. I'd recommend for anyone stating at the hotel or for group drinks after work! read more

Stopped in for dessert after dinner before heading to my room for the night. Jasmine took care of me. She was delightful. Had a glass of a lovely Barolo and a completely decadent copper skillet chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. The bar was nicely lit and comfortable. Pleasant, classy experience with reasonably priced drinks! Came here for some after work drinks with a larger party and we were seated quickly with a reservation. Overall the space wasn't too full though so I don't know if we would've needed to wait without it. The ambiance is pretth fancy, but given it's in a Langham, it makes sense. I felt rather underdressed coming from a casual work building environment, but the service was kind enough and it didn't actually make too much of a difference. Our orders were taken quickly and we were given sharable popcorn to start. The spice for the snack was really good - similar to a salty, almost barbecue-y flavor. The drinks came out soon after and were fantastic - I really enjoyed mine ( I love anything with gin and fruit ) and thought it was decently priced for the restaurant location. The food was good as well - they were just appetizers, but I thought they were pretty high quality. The size of the charcuterie board was disappointing in my opinion for its price, but the toastie was definitely very delicious. Again, priced high, but the quality of the food was good. I definitely loved the taste! Overall, I found the experience to be really pleasant and nice. The vibe was clean and calming while the food was tasty and the service was quick and efficient. Gorgeous and spacious bar with a fun menu located in downtown Boston at the Langham hotel. The bar is beautiful. The seats fully wrap around the bartending area, with tables lining the edges of the room. I would come here for various functions- altho last night the bar area had more of a date-y vibe to it. The drinks are delicious- I actually had a grapefruit based mock tail which I loved- and my friends had different cocktails which they enjoyed. We ordered the banoffee dessert and a mezze platter- all memorable. The only downside is that their menu prices range from $$$-$$$$. Little to choose from in terms of light finger foods that won't break your wallet on top of the $$$ drinks. Service was OK- sparse in between drinks yet asked at least a few times "how we were doing on the drinks etc" which gave a tone of wanting to ask us to either close the tab or order another drink. The best part of this bar is the elegant but cozy atmosphere. I was seated in a corner with comfy couch seats. The service was great and they were very accommodating. The drinks were great and very creative although the two we got were a little on the sweeter side. For food we shared the charcuterie board which came with a great sample of cheeses meats nuts olives and apricot jam. They didn't give us enough bread for the ratio of cheeses and meats though. Lastly we shared the glizzy corn dogs which were small but had great flavor with the mustard sauce on top and sauerkraut. Delicious and fun - and who doesn't love a glitter lemon? But, while we were here, we needed to discover what makes "The Fed" a cocktails lovers staple! There drinks menu is split between "Signatures" and "Residents", and we made sure to select from both: DURANGO DURANZO Tequila, Mezcal, Sherry, Peach, & Ancho Chili! Walked in and the place was fairly busy but was emptying out... by the time we finished, there was only 2 other people... why is that note worthy? It took over an hour to get CHICKEN. My so and I have both served in restaurants and I've worked at a number of hotel restaurants. The server thought it was a good idea to say that our dinner was dragging because of the chicken and the amount of time it takes to cook and then walked away... that's right chicken apparently takes over an hour. 1- how dumb do you think we are 2- I've worked at restaurants that would be considered lower and higher end, and at NONE of them would I NEVER go to a table that was waiting an extra ordinary amount of time empty handed... she could even bother to bring us more of the amuse (house made potato chips). Even if they started the chicken when the restaurant emptied out, we would have gotten it sooner. Someone screwed up and instead of owning it (a common theme at this langham, they made an excuse). At well over $100 for a shared app, 2 dinners and 2 drinks, it was disappointing and we had a 3rd join us... a spider was running around the bookcase next to our table. read more

***NO CLASS, RACIST, TRASHY, UNPROFESSIONAL HOTEL MANAGERS -- Do not go here. *** I wish I could give this establishment 0 stars. I do not recommend you dine or stay here as their customer service is absolutely disgraceful. Where do I start... Their restaurant manager, Alex is extremely unprofessional and rude. He led my party of 6 and I to an empty table that had no place settings, no menus, no silverware. He then says, "I will be right back, don't sit down yet until I wipe the table." He then disappeared and never came back. We literally just stood there waiting in the middle of the restaurant. Finally, a host comes over and instead of assisting us he rudely asks if we have a reservation. I made sure he was aware that Alex had led us here, and said he would be back. However, Alex never came back which caused a lot of confusion within their staff. Instead of resolving the matter, he had us uncomfortably stand there in the middle of the restaurant and it caused a scene that could have easily been avoided. To make matters worse. Just as we were finally seated, the host comes back over for a final time and asks us if we have a reservation... Keep in mind, the restaurant was empty. No one was dining there at "The Fed" (A restaurant in their hotel). We then kindly asked, "Do we need a reservation?" The host then rudely snapped back and said, "No, I am just making sure." The interaction was very odd and uncomfortable. It was as though our presence alone was not welcome. This completely tainted our dining experience especially since Alex, the restaurant manager is the one who brought us to this specific table in the first place. Now I am not the one to bring up the race card, as I find it to be a cop out in most arguments. However the people I had with me were all of brown skin. We are all professional Bostonians meeting for business, dressed in business attire -- and still treated as though we were not human, not welcome, not allowed. Finally, when we thought things were beginning to run smoothly, the waiter forgot to bring one of our guest's meals. We have a party of 6, and all guests were served except for one. This would not be a big deal if they quickly rectified the situation, however her meal was not served until we had all finished eating. The waiter did not even apologize at first. I had to bring this to his attention that this was unacceptable. Had I not told him we were unhappy, he would have gladly carried on knowing our guest had to watch us all eat. After our troubling experience, I called to speak with the hotel manager. He is even more unprofessional than all of the hotel staff that he governs. When I told him about our experience and how the staff was rude, forgot one of our meals. His response was, "This isn't the establishment for you." Not only that but he did not believe anything I told him. The interaction with him was quite bizarre. I personally have worked in the restaurant industry for years, and when a customer tells you they didn't receive their meal -- you believe them. He proudly did not. In disbelief I asked him for his name so I could keep record of this awful experience, he refused to provide his name. People of Boston reading this, I don't advise you spend your hard-earned money in a place where the staff cannot provide their name. How can you trust someone who is nameless? How can you eat somewhere, where the people making your food are nameless? I am repulsed. If you are looking for a place to stay in Boston that is respectful, has class, and will treat you like a human being go to the Fairmont Copley or The Four Seasons. I will be letting everyone know on all social media accounts to avoid this place at all costs. For these prices and this type of low-class service? They won't last long here in Boston... We were staying at the Langham hotel and came in on a late flight so we took a chance the first night at 10:30 and decided to get some food and drinks. The food is incredible as was the drinks and the atmosphere everything was so good we ended up there every night and tried a different drink and meal each night. Nothing we had was short of amazing. I was very disappointed with the food and the drinks. The restaurant was beautiful aesthetically but unfortunately all else was disappointing. We were a party of 4 and ordered 4 entrees and bread. We had just driven in from Rehoboth beach after eating at beautiful upscale eateries. We were excited to try the Fed in our 5 star hotel and of course we were drawn to it bc of the upscale decor. I ordered a jalapeño margarita which tasted like spiced rum, this was not a $20 handcrafted cocktail and I only could drink a couple sips. The bread was a sweet bread that no one could finish even a piece of and usually we ask for seconds. I had a crab cake that was slathered in dijon mustard. Should have been something similar to tartar sauce for a better flavor. My daughter had the lobster roll and it tasted like Mayo and onion and fishy low grade tuna. My husband had a bland hamburger and my son a small serving of a corn dog that wasn't special nor tempting. The bill was $200 and we couldn't eat barely anything and left hungry. I won't even return for a drink during our stay bc it was such a let down. I never post negative reviews this is my first.
