The Love in Tokyo cocktail was very sweet and creamy, at the cost of the matcha taste. First sip (even after mixing) was heavy on the vodka, but this gets less overpowering as you continue to sip and let the ice melt to dilute it. Unfortunately, despite the sprinkling of matcha on top and the pleasant light green color of the cocktail, there was minimal matcha flavor in it. I was rather disappointed by how overwhelmingly cream-forward the taste was. However, this and many other cocktails are very pretty. If you're looking for a place with drinks that are more for the show or aesthetics, then this would probably be a good choice. The place was fairly accommodating of our large-ish party (~11 people)- it probably helped that we went on a Wednesday night when they were pretty much empty. They just let us sit in the corner and pull up chairs. Service was rather minimal and lackluster. read more

I LOVED the February/Valentines cocktails I drank at Roxanne's! I wasn't sure how I'd like an alcoholic matcha but the "in Tokyo" was so creamy and delicious. I also had the "sugar cookie latte" which tasted as scrumptious as it sounds. The cocktails were pretty reasonably priced for Boston ($12-16). The music was kind of silly and went in and out of being super loud/dancy to slow/quieter, which fit the Saturday night ambiance of half people huddled around the bar and a few with reserved seating. Fortunately there were two seats a the bar which was much better than the seats facing the wall where the hostess had place us initially. I tried their Fortune teller while my friend got a burger medium well and a ginger beer mock tail. The bartender made refreshing and easy to sip on cocktails. The bar is in a busy corner of the city, but when you sit down at the bar that all goes away for the time being. I've been wanting to visit Roxanne's for ages and my experience here did not disappoint! I made a reservation here to get drinks to celebrate my friend's 21st birthday. We went on a Tuesday evening but it was still rather hectic on a weekday! If you're interested in going here, I definitely recommend making a reservation far in advance since the place is small and gets packed rather quickly. Perhaps it was because I noted we were celebrating a friend's 21st birthday, but the drinks were STRONG. Although strong, they were great drinks that were super tasty and aesthetic. The decor and cute drinks made this place perfect for Instagram photos. My friends had the Fortune Teller, The Side Chick, and The Staycation. I personally ended up getting Love in Tokyo and ended up pleasantly surprised. With Love in Tokyo, I was at first concerned about the matcha being too bitter and not going well with the vodka, but it was actually sweet matcha! This was my favorite drink of the night because the matcha and the vanilla + sweet cream were amazing and very tasty. The Side Chick and Staycation were both fairly refreshing but not too sweet. The Fortune Teller was easily the most fun drink. It comes with a foam bubble that resembles a crystal ball! I thought it tasted pretty good as well, but not as good as the other drinks. Overall, their cocktails are pretty reasonably priced for the Boston area (some of the cheapest I've seen) and are solid in terms of taste. Since the drinks were so strong, we actually ended up getting some food to balance it out. We LOVE the Fried Goat Cheese!! If you come to Roxanne's... you have to get the Fried Goat Cheese. We ended up getting some TO-GO because that's how good it was. The honey drizzle with the crispy panko-covered goat cheese balls was delicious. We savored every single bite. The fries are also pretty good, we liked the sauces that were drizzled over the fries. The buffalo cauliflower bites were a little too soggy, but still pretty decent. Lastly, we got the shishito peppers which were also pretty good, but the aioli really elevated their taste of them. I'm excited to visit Roxanne's again to try more of their food and drinks! (FYI, parking here is nearly impossible to find unless you park a bit far and walk. You can also pay unreasonable prices for garage parking). read more

My first (non)interaction with Roxanne's was trying to make a reservation yesterday on their website for drinks last night (a Sat night). Right when I go to put in my credit card info in, I would get an error that says there is a technical issue and to try again later. I tried several times and it never worked. There is no phone number to call on their website, only an email address. I emailed them, I messaged them directly through their website and I messaged them on instagram and didn't hear back from them in any form. We came in at 9:30pm and were seated right away in the booth, which I didn't like because it's pretty closed off from the rest of the bar. If you do come here, I suggest requesting a seat at the bar if you are 2 people or on the raised platform behind the main bar if you have more people. I typically order a Tom Collins or a Corpse Reviver #2 at a cocktail bar to test them out. This time I got a Corpse Revivier #2 and it was disgusting. I couldn't drink it and they were nice and switched it out. So I went with something on their list, the Naked and Instafamous. I didn't like the taste of it with their well tequila (someone else with me ordered it) so I replaced it with Don Julio and it was alot better. The drink was decent but not great. I came here with a friend after having seen Roxane's on a lot of cocktail bar lists. We had a reservation and had to hang around for a while before any staff noticed that we were waiting. The drinks are a bit lower priced than other cocktail bars in the area, which was nice. That said, we both tried a few different cocktails, like the Staycation. I was intrigued by the butterfly pea flower infused tequila (because clearly!) but found the drink to be overpoweringly sweet. Like, REALLY sweet. That was the case for both of us with all the drinks we tried--actually too sweet for me to finish, even for some cocktails that seemed, based on the ingredients list, like they would lean on the more robust or less sweet side. On the bright side, I was famished and the House Burger was just what I needed. But overall, I'm really not a super sweet drink kind of person, so I don't think I'll be returning to Roxane's for drinks. read more
