I came here for dine-out boston and was so impressed by the three course meal i received. I loved how there were classic dishes but they all had a unique take on flavors I would have never expected but simultaneously were still so delicious. The $46 dineout menu included an app, entree, and dessert. My friend and I decided to share all the dishes we each ordered. For apps we got the salmon crudo which was fresh and had a great sweet sauce and onion crunch, we also had the pork belly. It was tender and i loved the sweet glaze! they topped it on watermelon which seems odd but worked very well. For the mains we had the spicy crab spaghetti - this may have been my favorite dish! It was in fact spicy, there was that seafood signature crab flavor, and it worked so well with the noodles. The other main we shared was the brisket - the was so soft and fell to the forks touch, paired perfectly with the most delicious mashed potatoes. The desserts were insanely delicious - tres leches and peach cobbler (cant go wrong with either). The inside ambiance is a bit moody and modern, they also have a large gorgeous patio. Service was very friendly!

Really nice food presentation, the patio is cute and service was good. Mushroom arancini very tasty, grilled calamari tasty and beautifully plated. The only thing I didn't like was the Brussels, they were too burnt.

I thought Althea was just ok. Glad I tried it, but probably won't be back, at least not for brunch. The ambiance is lovely - lots of plants, comfortable seating. Service was very friendly and timely. The food was just not great. I ordered the mushroom and goat cheese omelet, and they were nice enough to let me swap goat cheese for Parmesan. To drink, I got a coffee. The coffee was fine - not amazing but not bad either. The omelet was just okay - it could have used some more salt. A little bland. I did love the home fries - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and very well seasoned. The toast tasted like grocery store bread, so that was a little disappointing for the price. So to sum up: on the positive side, ambiance and service were great. Home fries were delicious. Portions were generous. On the meh side, omelette and bread were bland (plus they were no longer hot by the time they came out, so that was strange). The only really bad thing I have to say is that they served my mom sour milk for her coffee, but they were very apologetic and gifted us blueberry muffins to make up for it, so I won't hold it against them.

I've been loving the hip vibe at Althea! It's tucked into a hotel in Central Square with a pretty main dining area and large super cute patio. They do pretty frequent musical and special events. 5 stars for the decor, ambiance, and overall service. Seems like an industry spot and a good place for foodies who like to get their drink on.... I've enjoyed chatting with all the staff members including the super friendly owner- it's the kind of place where they want you to have a good time and enjoy your food & drink. I've tried a number of dishes and enjoy the variety of smaller and bigger dish options. Some items were a bit more of a hit than others for me... I really enjoyed the spicy pasta, croquetas, chowder, salad, and dessert. I think the cocktails might be my favorite part! If you want a hip but friendly and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere check out Althea!

Came here on a Friday night for Dine Out Boston and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed every dish that we ordered! We also tried some cocktails too as they were reasonably priced at $15. For Dine out Boston you can choose from a list of small plates, large plates and desserts. We chose the smoked potatoes and chicken croquette, the beef brisket and spicy crab spaghetti and for dessert the upside down banana cake and coconut dream mousse. Everything was delicious and really good value! Would come back and try more of their dishes!

I'm not in Cambridge very often so I wanted to check out a restaurant that my local friend recommended and decided to go to Althea. We sat in the outdoor courtyard area which was really nice and has the smoker in one corner so it smelled pleasantly like a barbecue. I started off with one of their cocktails which has rhubarb puree in it and it was deliciously tart and sweet. We also ordered a couple dishes to share: the brussel sprouts, the octopus, and the Norwegian salmon and all the dishes were delicious. It was the perfect amount of food for two females. The service was also great and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back to try their other dishes!

Beautiful inside and out. The food was amazing from the beginning. The smoked beet salad was fresh and served warm. The braised beef with horseradish cream was delicious and my friends enjoyed the bass and salmon. I'd definitely return here for another dinner is was delicious. The staff were kind, informative and attentive. A wonderful place for drinks and dinner.

Really charming outdoor patio seating! They also have a smoker there which they use to smoke a lot of fruits/veg/meats. We had the milk punch which was made with smoked peaches, and it was delicious!! The service was really good, and the little bar outside is cute with string lights outside once it gets dark.

Made me a little anxious bc you have to put a credit card down and my friend is flakier than a KFC fried chicken bucket. Funny enough - she beat me there. I thought the cucumber were phenomenal. Almost ate the whole thing myself. As for the drinks, for me, it's another place where the ingredient list is too complicated. I hate having to google 3 out of 4 of things in my drink - the 4th being the type of liquor in it.. they do have a blurb at the end to explain what the drinks going to be like. I went with the one that's supposed to be close to a margarita. Unfortunately it came with bubbles which wasn't noted on the menu. I can't have bubbles :( which is a bummer bc they're so fun - something about infusing with their own CO2? Yo no se pero the bartender was lovely and gave me another beverage with no extra charge. I also ordered the non-alcoholic old fashioned which was quite nice and pretty light. We ordered the cheesecake bc it's gf (house but they have other flavors) and holy hell.. should I eat cheesecake? No. Did I keep going back for more after I said only a couple bites? Duh. It's from a local spot - Korean Mama. FAVORITE item of the night. When making the reservation I noted that we were going for a birthday and the bartender brought us over some small pours of sake to celebrate since they heard us talking about it earlier. I may not rush back, but my friend has been back twice already.

A majority of the drinks were more on the savory side which was very interesting like "may all your bacon burn" with bacon bites at the top of the drink. The drinks my friend had were all stunning with the use of egg yolk to elevate the drink. We ended the evening by walking over to Bow Market and trying Viet Citron which was so DANG GOOD my gosh. The to go orders were insane but looks like they are doing very well despite recently opening in. I got the grilled lemongrass pork ribs bowl and youtiao and the side sauce was so good. We ordered quickly after perusing the (rather short) menu, most of which was either small plates and cocktails . Our first plate was the hainan chicken arancini. I really liked the contrast in textures between the crispy exterior and the tender chicken and rice mix on the inside. Overall flavour was not bad, too, but I'm not sure that it was exactly good enough to merit the price point of $18. Next was the Xi'an street noodles, which was probably my favourite dish of the meal. The noodles were very well cooked - chewy but not too soft - and I loved the sauce, with the gentle peanut aroma on top of the various spices they used. One comment was that the chilli crisp, which was tasty, was very lacking (in amount) and as a consequence the dish was really not spicy at all. Finally we had the chilli crisp buffalo chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was boneless (I was expecting something more like chicken wings), which made for very clean eating :) The buffalo sauce was nice (and perhaps a bit spicier than the aforementioned chilli crisp) and the chicken itself was very rich and juicy. Portion size was quite large too and overall I was very happy with this plate. For drinks we ordered the Jaded, which was a fun matcha-themed cocktail (even the marshmallow was matcha-flavoured) and a (spirit-free) cranberry limeade, which was surprisingly refreshing and sweet. Overall a yummy meal, but definitely very expensive. I would be interested to try some more of their cocktails, which seem very creative, but I'm not sure if I would be keen to come again primarily for the food. (To be fair, though, this is often the modus operandi of these restaurants that specialise in small plates and drinks )

One thing I thought was really nice is that they allow you to grab food from the surrounding restaurants and bring it in to eat there. We didn't end up doing that, but we did get the charcuterie board they had. It came with cheeses, crackers, and some fruit, and you can add meats for $10, which we opted out for. I will say I was a little disappointed by the fruit portion. The menu mentioned fresh fruit, so I expected more than three thin orange slices and one sliced strawberry. HOWEVER, when I asked for more strawberries, our waiter kindly brought out a whole bowl for me, which I really appreciated. We stayed for about two hours, and as the night went on the place definitely got more crowded, so we headed out. Overall, this is such a cute and cozy cocktail bar. This was our first time at Viale and restaurant week is always a good way to try somewhere new. Unfortunately our party of 3 all agreed Viale was a miss, especially for the price point. I ordered the salmon crudo, swordfish, and tiramisu. The salmon in the crudo was fresh as was the avocado, but it felt bland and like it was missing multiple ingredients - salt? Citrus? My friend said the sauce with the fried cauliflower she ordered didn't pair well with the cauliflower. The mains were the strong point of the meal - my swordfish was cooked well but still felt like it was missing something and I desperately wanted to ask for a lemon wedge but didn't get the opportunity to. My friend said her chicken parm was very good and my other friend said her crab risotto was decent and better than the salmon crudo. However, the desserts were once again disappointing like the starters. The lemon cheesecake was OK and the berry compote was my friend's favorite part - she ate that and left the rest. My friend's panna cotta was bland and the hazelnuts on it tasted stale or not prepared properly. My tiramisu was soggy and barely had the cream layer - sadly one of the worst tiramisus I've ever had at a formal dining restaurant. The service was a little slow but overall very good. Our server Marcelo was very good at checking in and keeping our water glasses full. There was complimentary bread which I really appreciated while waiting for the dishes. The ambiance was nice! We chose to sit inside for the AC, but I wish we'd chosen to sit outside because the inside was a little loud and we were struggling to hear at some points. This got better later in the evening when the restaurant was less full. All in all, it was an interesting experience. But the disappointing food means I won't be back and couldn't give this place more than 3 stars, especially when there are plenty of other restaurants in the Central area to try that can probably do better.
