Friendly, skilled, knowledgeable staff (so international, so many accents!), helpfully worked with my dairy allergy. Prompt, attentive service! We shared a beet and farro salad, it was lightly dressed, the farro so nutty and slightly toasted and delicious. My spouse enjoyed spreading the goat cheese (which we got on the side) onto the immaculately fresh baked bread; I, of course, had quality EVOO instead of the farm butter my spouse so enjoyed. My spouse found the scrod (never menu'd in southern california) light, and flaky, describing it "like unbattered fish n chips," the asparagus pleasantly not overcooked. My salmon was fresh and the "risotto-style" (dairy free) rice nutty and flavorful. So much better than first impressions; we were delightfully surprised by our experience. Was a little sad that the table was bussed so quickly because we would have taken bread up to our room. I generally really like this restaurant and the overall concept. Depending on the day and the order, the food can be exceptional. That said, I recently asked about swapping proteins on a salad and was told there would be an " add on" charge of $26... essentially doubling the price of the salad. So - while the food is good - an HT Protein Bowl is NOT worth $51!!! Unfortunate. This is a huge customer service miss. They should be able to figure this out! read more

Decided on having dinner here for my last night in Boston, and it ended up being the perfect send off. Got here around 8pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant has a warm, cozy New England charm with plenty of seating. They start you off with a bread and butter basket which we loved. Came with a variety of different breads like cranberry nut bread, sourdough, and some type of corn bread. What we ordered: Crab & corn chowder (6/10): Decent, with a nice sweetness from the corn. A little light on the crab and heavy on the potatoes. Duck breast (10/10): Duck was cooked perfectly. Rich flavor, tender, and beautifully presented. Pork chop (8/10): Ordered medium but was a little over. The crispy onions were a little stale, but the cranberry pecan bread stuffing made up for it. Pie of the day (100/10): Star of the show. Mixed berry apple pie served warm with vanilla bean ice cream. Buttery crust, perfect balance of tart and sweet. Truly one of the best pies I've ever had. This was a wonderful meal to finish off my trip. The service was outstanding. Big shoutout to our server Yosselin who was kind, attentive, and thoughtful. After I casually mentioned the stale fried onions(not a complaint at all), she surprised us by comping our dessert. Such a small gesture, but really thoughtful and made our night. I can say I truly had mixed experiences here at this restaurant. I've had some very good dishes here, such as the house-smoked salmon, duck breast, and pies. And then I find a piece of tile inside my bread. I've had some really nice servers make my visits here enjoyable, while I've had less-than-stellar service experiences of overcharging and ridiculous cake-cutting charges (really, $5 per person???). The restaurant is tucked in the rear of the Charles Hotel, so it's can hard to spot. The decor reminds me of a visit to a friend's colonial-style home in some nice part of New England for lunch. The decor here is rather bright (without being blinding) and inviting. I came here for a rather sizable party and we were overcharged by a significant amount. It took more haggling that I'd like to rectify the situation, and that did not impress me. Not only that, we were told that cake-cutting fee was $5 per person, so just having a cake for 10 people would cost significantly more than the cake itself! Their Restaurant Week menu (n/k/a Dine Out Boston) is one of the more diverse and larger menus, so there's that. read more

3.5 star is pretty accurate. Love the fact that this is one of the few restaurants that open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Harvard square. It's more geared towards faculty, staff, and visitors given the price point. It's located on the second floor of the hotel. They have outdoor seating as of September 2023, not sure if outdoor seating continues throughout the colder months. Came here for dinner and the food was great. The service was okay, but it's Boston, so what do you expect. They take reservations via OpenTable, which is a plus. Probably won't be back anytime in the near future, but will keep this place in mind. Ambiance is good for a date night or a large group of friends/colleagues. This beautiful hotel restaurant was an excellent choice for breakfast. I was truly amazed by the interior as soon as the elevator doors opened; it felt like stepping into an upscale library. Great to come back here and see that while menus and staff change the quality of food, service, ambience and dining experience stay the same. HT's food remains wholesome, flavorful and fairly priced. Visited Henrietta's Table during Dine Out Boston and got to try their 3-course dinner special. We chose the Spinach Salad, Scrod, and Chocolate Bread Pudding and the Burrata, Sirloin, and Baklava Cheesecake. The food was delicious, though the portions were very big. Highlights were the burrata, steak and cheddar mashed potatoes, and chocolate bread pudding. Service was great - our server had great wine recommendations and the pre-dinner cocktails were delicious. Sunday January 18 2025 Brunch reservation 12:30PM. Check in at 12:15 with the Male host (a gentlemen with curly hair). The host said your reservation is for 12:30 and we will seat you then when we open. No problem. There was one family ahead of us as we were sitting where the host could see us.Next thing I notice they started seating people who were after us. The other family and I asked why were these other family's seated first he gave a blank looked. We were eventually seated and it took at least 15 minutes to be acknowledged. It appeared that certain parties were given better services than others. Read between the lines. Our waitress was unattended, had to request several times for cream sugar refills and to remove the plates and glasses that were used. It got to a point where we had to ask the other emoyees to remove these items. It appeared this waitress just kept congregating by the bar. The food was decent . Waffles were inconsistent the bacon was overcooked and it appeared some items were sitting for awhile. The oysters and shrimp were excellent. The desert bar was very good. I reported a serious bathroom issue to the same host that seated us and it was not taken care off. I had to reported the issue again before we left 30 minutes later. The price you pay for this brunch should not have this happen. It appeared the managers on duty were not very observant and only concerned with certain guest. Yet again Read between the lines. When we cime to Boston twice a year we make an effort to have Brunch here We will consider elsewhere. Hopefully management will read and respond. read more

(Dine Out Boston, August 2022) It would probably come as no surprise that I love dining out. But why? To try things I couldn't make at home. If I can make something, it is about a new interpretation/execution. I also enjoy good service and hospitality. Case in point: breakfast: I am lukewarm about IHOP but adore The Farmer's Daughter (Easton, MA). At Henrietta's Table, the execution, interpretation, and service were on point! I absolutely want to make a return visit. That's five stars in my book - exceeded expectations and a desire to return. I had the opportunity to try the following: - Maine Rock Crab and Corn Chowder - Pig Under a Brick - Pie of the Day - HT Greyhound The Maine Rock Crab and Corn Chowder was excellent. It was hearty, savory, flavorful, and well-balanced. They did not skimp on the ingredients (esp. seafood) but did not go overboard. It also did not go too heavy on the salt or the sugar (as corn chowders sometimes tend to do). Pig Under a Brick was a surprising delight. While this resembles pulled pork, while tender, I typically look for sauce. Here, they used watermelon on top, and it was served on a bed of veggies. If enjoyed together, the veggies and watermelon combine stupendously, and the sauce seems like something best left at the BBQ. This is a terrific interpretation of pulled pork, coming from someone who is not a fan of watermelon! The Pie of the Day is not to be missed if you are even remotely a pie lover. The crust was spectacular, crisp, and flaky. Puts those supermarket pies to shame! The filling was terrific as well and was warm (IIRC). Really gave it fresh feelings. Ice cream was a nice touch, too, as a means of balancing out the warmth of the pie. Added some creamy notes as well! HT Greyhound was a well put together drink! It had good strength/booziness, a little sweet, a little tart, a little savory, and very refreshing! Gin isn't my spirit of choice, but this drink makes it work. Then there's the service! It was attentive, fast, and all-around very professional. Service doesn't usually make or break a place, but it is nice to be well taken care of when going out. As a party of 5 we ordered a wide variety of dishes, tasted each others meals and all reported everything was mediocre. For the price this food should knock your socks off! Came here for the Valentine's Day menu. The fare here is very much American Thanksgiving core - meat, lots of fat (butter or gravy or oil), cranberries, lots of sugar, etc. Starting bread was interesting. There were three different kinds of untoasted slices: a sourdough, a sweeter squash or carrot bread (the yellow one, I'm guessing that it has a veggie mixed in to make it sweeter and yellow), and a cranberry walnut bread. Bread was good but I would have appreciated it toasted. The caesar salad here is amazing; on par with the one from Ma Maison. I would come back just for the salad. It's creamy, has a nice tang from the pickled onions, and good crunch from the croutons. I do wish there was more lettuce to dressing ratio because the dressing pooled up at the bottom. I wasn't a huge fan of the corn and crab chowder just because it was sweeter and I prefer a more savory chowder but I do appreciate that the flavor of corn was drawn through. I don't think I saw any pieces of crab though... The pork chops were just okay, if not disappointing. While juicy, they did not have much flavor, possibly because of how thick the meat was. I was hoping the cranberry sauce would complement it but it ended up being too sweet and overpowering. The veggies were soggy and not seasoned and the potato/apple latke did not add much to the plate. I had high hopes for the pork chops after reading all the reviews but I just have to say - try the spareribs from Monkfish in Central Square. The lobster stuffed with scallops and shrimp was in a pool of butter. It was incredibly rich, fatty, and difficult to pick out the pieces of lobster without getting your hands oily. I know that lobster and butter is a classic combo and this might be appealing to others but this dish wasn't my cup of tea at all. We got the Valentine's Day dessert for two. It was very chocolate-y with two tiny chocolate covered strawberries. The sauce drizzle on the plate had gone hard and I was hoping for more acidity to cut through the sugar, as well as more use of dark chocolate vs just white and milk chocolate. Chocolate soufflé was dry and not as light/airy as I was hoping for. I wonder if this dessert had been sitting out on the counter for a while. We arrived 45 minutes before closing (which might be an explanation for the dessert) but did not feel rushed. Our server was kind and our food came out very quickly. The restaurant has a homey atmosphere to complement the Thanksgiving-esque food. While I wouldn't choose to come here again (unless it's for the incredible salad), I would recommend this place if this type of food sounds like something you would enjoy. read more

I had been to Henrietta's in the past and found it fair. I have recently gone back 4 times in the past month and have only sparkling reviews. The food and the service were both great. But there is one person, Isabella (hostess), that stands out. She performs her job as though she is the owner of the restaurant. She remembers the customers and calls them by name. She checks to make sure you enjoyed your meal and always has a smile on her face. If you ate at Henrietta's Table in the past, try it again and enjoy it all. read more

I was quite surprised with how good was here at this point dining restaurant in Boston. The staff were extremely accommodating in seating our large group, and we were appropriately waited on in a reasonable time. We started out with some sides of their roasted cauliflower and asparagus. The roasted cauliflower is incredible - beautifully charred and infused with great flavors. The asparagus was roasted and infused with a lemon butter and shepherd's cheese from Vermont. The bread that they serve is awesome album. They provide three different types of bread, sourdough, one with Craisins, and the wheat bread. All of them are freshly baked and sliced. Served with butter, it's the perfect starter to a meal. For the main courses, I got to try their grain bowl with tofu, their veggie burger, and their Yankee pot roast. The grain bowl was filled with warm grains, roasted veggies, toasted pistachios, arugula, and all topped with crispy tofu and a warm vinaigrette. The veggie burger was incredible, with the buns being grilled with butter. They put a generous amount of avocado and a spicy mayo on top. The pot roast was my favorite. The beef was incredibly tender and covered with a sweet and savory gravy. It was all laid on top of beautifully mashed and buttery potatoes. They also provide some soft, grilled carrots on top for color and flavor. Do note that this restaurant includes a 20% gratuity charge already in the bill, and they do bring out your final bill with another spot for additional tip. I would suggest that they inform the diners that tip has already been included so that people aren't unknowingly double tipping. read more

"Homey"| Service | Value "HOMEY" - the Henrietta's has a homey feel. It has am interesting blend of "magnolia" and "southern charm." They have a classic northeastern bed and breakfast decor. Service - they have amazing service. It's a throwback in a wag because each person on staff views every table as their own and they do a great job of checking in on you, refilling drinks, and providing great recommendations. Their staff really upgrade the experience make you raise your expectation for a restaurant. Value - given where you are in harvard square and inside the Charles hotel their price are extremely reasonable. I had the waffle and hash browns with a unlimited coffee and with a generous tip was under $30 dollars. Both the waffle and hash browns were substantial in size and I left very full. Pro tip: they only do reservations for brunch and dinner. Breakfast is first come first serve, so plan accordingly. Pro tip: there isn't a lot of parking in general in Harvard square. But there is parking underneath the Charles hotel, so you can pay to park there. They will validate a portion of your parking if you have a meal at the restaurant. read more

Well, I was half-right in my last review - I would be back for Dine Out week - but definitely much faster than I expected! Less than a week later, I found myself back at Henrietta's to take advantage of their $25 lunch special. The meal had a choice of either a starter and a main, or a main and a dessert - so my friend and I ordered one of each, sharing our starter/dessert. We started with the local mixed greens - vegetables were extremely fresh, and the sliced radishes and tomatoes were a nice touch. I found the vinaigrette dressing to be a little too much though, and really covered up a lot of the natural flavour of the leafy greens. For my main, I ordered the salmon burger - the patty was rich and flavourful, and the buns were nicely toasted and paired very nicely with the salmon. The accompanying 'spicy' tartar sauce was not spicy but still tasty regardless, and complemented the fish flavour very well. The side salad was more of the local mixed greens from earlier, also with the very heavy vinaigrette flavour. My friend ordered the warm grain bowl with chicken - a wonderful combination of flavours, vegetables were fresh as usual, and the chicken was cooked nicely and was a nice 'topper' for the overall bowl. For dessert, we ordered the pie of the day, which was a nectarine pie. The fruit, as always, was incredibly fresh - and the nice tartness of the nectarine paired wonderfully with the sweet, warm crust for an amazing end to the meal. Again, a rather satisfying meal (and I was happy with the Dine Out week prices) - but I still maintain, as with my last visit, that at their normal price point, there are enough local comparable restaurants to make me think twice about coming back. read more

We got the meat and cheese platter to start which is not your normal charcuterie board (a little heavy on the puréed meats and light on the cheese). I got the pork chop with Swiss chard, crispy onion, cheese grits and a blackberry sauce. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. For dessert, we got the key lime pie special. The vanilla ice cream and key lime filling were to die for, the actual pastry crust was a little on the thick side and required elbow grease to cut through with a spoon.
