    Cranberry gin cocktail

Wow. The Chef's Counter was exquisite, what an amazing tasting journey and experience for all your senses! I knew from the moment the smoked miso maple butter hit my tongue that we were in for a treat -- and that was just the amuse bouche with a nice lil' warm biscuit bite. Cocktails were also very good and well balanced, especially the one with butter-washed mezcal, charred corn, and lime. Chef Erin and her talented crew carefully crafted sheer magic with each dish from start to finish. Each element was thoughtfully prepared, with the flavors and textures coming together beautifully in each bite. Many of their purveyors are local or they directly forage some of the ingredients themselves...and you can tell, so fresh and delicious! All the dishes were wonderful but the star for me was the duck, which was cooked perfectly with bold and sophisticated sauces. I will definitely remember this meal. Service was impeccable and the vibes were relaxed, which was very noticeable given the busy kitchen we witnessed over the course of the meal. No yelling or banging, just a smooth team of talented folks (mostly women) making gorgeous food - some plates were truly works of art. Similarly the acoustics of the small room were pretty impressive, as it never felt too loud and it was easy to talk to my partner. After living in the PNW for 10 years, I finally found a farm-to-table place in the Boston area worth going to, and Urban Hearth is it. I will definitely be back!

Went back again after a good experience first time. Chef was not there. Most dishes went well. Service was very good. Here's what we ate this time.

Wow wow wow! My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Urban Hearth, and it was easily one of our top 5 favorite meals of all time. I had emailed ahead of time with my allergies and they went above and beyond to accommodate so that I could enjoy their seasonal menu. We got 5 dishes to share (which meant we were too full for dessert): biscuit, tomatoes with black sesame and goat cheese, squash blossoms with corn, savory zucchini peach creme brulee, and littleneck clams in corn broth. The flavors were all so unique and fresh! I also enjoyed a chamomile mocktail. We can't wait to see what the fall/winter menu brings! Note: the cozy room can get quite warm, so dress accordingly.

I can't say enough about the food, staff and chef at this restaurant. My husband can't have anything cooked in any alcohol which we always mention ahead of time in any reservation we make. We walked in and were handed a menu specially marked up for him so that he knew what he couldn't have. On top of that the chef came to our table to talk about some incredible options for my husband, offering up a spectacular specially made sea bass dish on top of some other ideas. Additionally, each of our appetizers were tweaked just enough so that we could both enjoy them. For a foodie like my husband it is sometimes difficult not to be able to eat everything he wants, so for a chef to go above and beyond and really give us such a personal, special and delicious experience was truly amazing. We will definitely be back.

A small and intimate restaurant with a rustic feel and farm-to-table concept. Went to try out this restaurant for the first time with a friend and loved the homey vibes. The staff were incredibly friendly and we were sat at a cute corner. The menu is made to be shareable and the waitress recommended we order about 2-3 dishes per person. Their menu is seasonal and also depends on what they get from local farms which are listed on the menu as well. We ordered the marinated olives (nothing fancy, just warmed olives in oil), seasonal salad with white strawberries, little neck clams in a sweet corn and saffron broth (my favorite as it was a symphony of flavors), biscuit with smoked miso maple butter (the butter was delectable with the hint of smoke), and strip steak. Can definitely see this as place earning a Michelin shout out, and it was cool to see the 2 chefs cooking everything. The only downsides were that service was a bit slow (makes sense with the size and number of tables), and didn't seem to have AC so it felt a bit warm on a Summer evening. We enjoyed every dish and definitely want to return.

Came for the tasting menu and it was outstanding. No point reviewing individual dishes. They were all beautifully prepared, very creative, and full of flavor! You could feel the love and soul in every delicious bite. The entire staff was personable and friendly. We talked about our favorite TV shows and moves :) if you are considering trying urban hearth out , just do yourself a favor and do it. I have already made reservations to dine again next month. So that should say something. 10 out of 5. outstanding experience!! I forgot to photograph one dish because I was so entranced by the experience Oo

I had the pleasure of seeing Chef Erin Miller crowned Queen of Seafood at the 2024 Great American Seafood Cook Off in New Orleans. So, on a vacation to Boston I was excited to get reservations at her restaurant. The restaurant is small and comfortable. I had the impression of sitting in my family kitchen, watching a fantastic meal be prepared. We ordered a trio of cocktails and charcuterie appetizer. Our server, Sam, explained the best way to experience their menu. She recommended a few selections that were protein focused, and a few that were more starch/veg focused. Each dish was brought to the table as it was completed. Which I really enjoyed vs. everything being delivered at once allowing it to get cold. I thought each ingredient was strategically planned out to work together in each dish. Three of us shared; the short ribs, the swordfish, the duck, the scallops, and the cauliflower. Please look at the menu for a full description. We loved everything we tried. We wrapped up our meal with dessert and a coffee. Many times throughout our meal I witnessed the kitchen & waitstaff interacting like a well oiled machine. This definitely was one of my all time favorite meals.

Having won bostons best chefs counter, we were excited to try this place. It's only a 4 seat chefs counter and it was the best seat in the house. It was a joy to watch them prepare dishes throughout the night and all the chefs are so nice and friendly. In regards to the tasting menu, they are farm to table and chef Erin loves foraging with the menu changing daily so you really get the best, freshest ingredients and it was very fun to not know what we were getting next. It was five course total with small bites in between. Everything was beautiful and delicious. Chef Erin presented most of the dishes to us herself and really took the time to describe every element. The experience was so memorable and we truly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here. We will definitely be back!

I can't emphasize enough how wonderful everyone is at Urban Hearth - Erin is masterful in her selection of flavors, the menu is always fresh and current, and the feel is friendly and like home in the most loving way!

Last night, I finally tried Urban Hearth. It has been on my list of places to get to for a while, but it wasn't a place I wanted to try with my five-year-old, so I had to wait. The restaurant is tiny, 24 seats in total, with a little kitchen in the dining room. There are some additional seats outside too in good weather. Our reservation was for 7:00 and it seemed like just about everyone sat down at the same time. All the empty tables and even some seats outside filled up at once, making for a slightly frantic start to the meal. I ordered a very nice Summer Boulevardier with bourbon, strawberry infused campari, and vermouth. I also got a bottle of French Chablis. It was Bastille Day after all! The style is farm-to-table with shared plates, perfect for date night. We opted for five small plates, skipping over the larger ones. First to arrive were the Crispy Harissa Duck Wings which were falling off the bone like slow cooked ribs. They were intensely seasoned and served with addictive bread and butter pickles. I would have bought a jar to take home if offered one. Next came the scallops, which were so beautiful. They were garnished with a bacon agrodolce and bbq snow peas. Next came my favorite dish of the evening, Smoked Bluefish Pâté served with grilled focaccia. This dish is worth the visit alone. I'm not one to sit out on Mass Ave, but I think I might go back and sit outside and just have the pâté and a glass of wine for dinner one night. The last two dishes came roughly at the same time. First to arrive was an off menu special of squash blossoms stuffed with rice and goat cheese served over a fennel salad. One bite into it I was in heaven. The rich goat cheese and the fried blossom balanced with the acidic salad was perfect. A moment later the quail arrived. It was semi-boneless and halved, decadent with a bright green tomato sauce. Quail is one of my favorite meats and the preparation was outstanding. There is a lot to like about Urban Hearth. The space is charming and the service is friendly. But the real reason to go is the food. Every dish was exceptional. Although the pâté was my favorite, I adored the squash blossoms almost as much. It still isn't the place I want to bring my kid, but hopefully we will find a way to get back. Maybe he can sit outside with me while I eat pâté.

We celebrated my husband's birthday with the Chef's Counter Experience and it was amazing!! Each dish had unique flavors and textures that worked so well together. They offered me a mocktail tasting of 3 different mocktails throughout the evening and each one was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and the service was excellent. I was worried about there being enough space at the counter, but it is totally fine. The kitchen vibe is also very calm - no yelling or loud dishes slamming - just a truly lovely experience. I am amazed at the talent and hard work that goes into perfecting an ever changing menu like this. Highly recommend!

It caught me off guard how kind and attentive everyone was. The service was EXCELLENT , and I'd easily give five stars for both cleanliness and hospitality. As for the food, it was okay. I ordered the calamari, and it was decent. I should have tried the spice bag because the folks seated next to us ordered it and it smelled delicious! The espresso martini was absolutely bomb, and everything coming out of that kitchen looked and smelled great. The service and atmosphere made the experience memorable. I could definitely see myself going back for a couple of drinks or to catch a game -- especially because it felt good to be treated with such genuine warmth in a space where I didn't necessarily expect it. Wow talk about a hidden gem!…read more I hadn't heard much about this place so I wasn't sure what to expect-- located in Inman square with nearby limited street parking (there's a metered lot on Springfield street nearby!), Oak Bistro is a medium sized restaurant with a simple but chic decor and true focus on hospitality. When we came in we were greeted and our coats were taken and put away. They have rotating specials that our server walked us through. We ordered all three of the mock tails on the menu -- Odin's Oracle was a sparkling elderflower and passion fruit drink, the Northern Rose was fruity with a slight thick cream of coconut base (and the tables favorite!) and the last drink was a warm ginger drink. They all came out looking beautiful. For food, we started with the Halloumi Cheese which was delicious and perfect for sharing (comes with four pieces), then tried the Blueberry Ricotta Cornbread (really well made and yummy but needed a little more butter spread) and the fried burrata (huge serving of burrata with balsamic, fig jam, warm bread, just as good as it sounds). We tried the Braised Short Rib Croquettes which were stuffed with short rib and topped with sooo much yummy cheese. We also had the Pappardelle braised shore rib Ragu which was truly delicious-- would highly recommend. For dessert we tried a special menu bread pudding which was a perfect end to the night. Our leftovers came perfectly packaged in little baggies with dish names and dates written on them which is so cute and thoughtful! Overall I would order everything we got again and was so pleasantly surprised by the caliber of food at Oak Bistro-- get in and try it before it gets too popular!

The pancakes were not crispy at all and ate very mushy. The carrot curry was delish but all the flavors together with the raita didn't really do it for me.
