What a wild experience! No reservations are needed and do grab a seat as soon as you arrive. Do place your order with the QR code on the table. Works well and is very easy. I ordered the egg white with spinach and kale and my friend ordered corned beef hash. Food was delicious. And loads of choices for whatever you might want. The place is very busy so please be patient. Only reason for not 5 stars is the service for coffee was a bit pokey. I'll be back, this was great. read more

We were a group of 11 paying customers excited to enjoy after work appetizers together, but our experience at this establishment was incredibly disappointing. After placing and paying for our order, staff members were overheard making comments about the amount of food we ordered. Food shaming customers, especially a large group sharing appetizers is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. What made the situation worse was the manager's response. When we called to address the issue, the apology focused on the fact that we overheard the comment, not on the fact that the comment was made in the first place. That speaks volumes about the culture and customer service at this establishment. No customer should feel judged or mocked for ordering food at a restaurant they are paying to support. Right off the Orange line, it's convenient with a wide-ranging menu. Food is very good -- nothing amazing but consistently good in whatever you order. It very diner in aesthetic, lots of families eat here, so its very accepting of small children. Don't recommend if you don't want to deal with that. Long term employees are pretty good, manager is great. I've had some rude wait staff, but they were quickly rotated out. Otherwise they've been understanding. Recommend the eggs benny. read more

Edit: a customer from a month ago submitted a review that says she noticed a difference between staff treatment of customers with melanin vs those without. I'm not sure it means anything but I am also a POC. I want to preface this review by saying I served tables through college and grad school. I understand how hard the job is, treat staff with respect and tip appropriately. I tried to take my 9 and 7 year olds to Evergreen today and had the worst service experience I've had in a restaurant. It is the 7 year olds birthday tomorrow and he asked to go out for breakfast and then to play with the pup in a park, so it was the four of us in tow. The restaurant was busy but not beyond capacity and we immediately found an open seat. From there it took a half hour for us to order even after I flagged down two separate servers asking to order (which was not easy). There didn't appear to be any designated sections for servers, and staff was doing their darndest to not make eye contact, which I understand but isn't optimal. We finally got to enter an order at the prompting of a nearby table that we go to the front and demand service. From there we waited another half hour without drinks while all the tables around us who came later were served. I checked in at the front multiple times, but it wasn't until I literally blocked the entrance/egress to the counter that I was able to pin down a manager who let us know that our order wasn't entered. Today was the first time I've ever raised my voice at staff which I am embarrassed by (and I'm glad that they offered to comp a meal) but my kids who were honestly taking it like champions weren't going to be able to wait longer. I don't like leaving a bad review but this kind of breakdown in processes, communication and teamwork would not have been possible at any of the restaurants I worked at and is frankly something I've never experienced before. read more

I got a latte and it wasn't bad but wasn't spectacular. The primary reason I didn't enjoy my time here was the ambience and atmosphere. The staff were extremely loud and made it difficult to enjoy the restaurant. Most patrons were calm, but some were extremely loud as well. I've come here many times because the food is great, reasonably priced, and the ambiance is cute. However, I continue to have unfortunate service experiences. One time, a server was eating pizza in one hand while making my coffee in the other, getting crumbs into it. recently, I came before the lunch rush with a group. It took 45 minutes to receive 2 out of 4 drinks (one was wrong). After being ignored repeatedly, we checked in on the food. Turns out they never put in our order. They suggested we just leave and eat elsewhere. At this point, we requested to still eat there but with a discount. The manager came out, we thought to apologize, but instead to rave about the waitress who has forgotten the order and then suggested we leave. We were polite despite the situation, but hearing how "busy" staff is does not instill confidence. Restaurants should want to be busy, not turning away customers. read more

Based on the reviews, I had high expectation but was severely disappointed. I came here for a lunch/work date with a friend of mine and the vibes were nice and lively, however upon sitting down, it took a while for someone to come over to take my order. The waitress was sweet, but when my friend asked to switch her chai for a latte as the chai did not taste good, she then proceeded to smell it and say "this is chai". Nevertheless, she did offer to switch it out, but then I began to think, even if she did not, would she have expected my friend to drink something that 1. did not taste good or 2. she out her nose to and smelled? Lastly, I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it was not good at all. The eggs tasted like they were cooked in dirty dish water and nothing tasted fresh. I only took 3 bites and did not finish my food. My friend, however, enjoyed her eggs benedict. In conjunction with the reviews, maybe it was just an off day? I really enjoyed this cozy eatery (including the cozy tents for outdoor tables) for breakfast. Staff was friendly and efficient. Coffee was excellent, and the Fried Green Tomato Benny (for Benedict, like "Eggs Benedict" - perhaps this is a Bostonism?) were glorious. Eggs perfectly poached, with a delicious hollandaise sauce. We sat indoors given the 20F weather, but there is also plenty of outdoor seating with some enclosed in plastic igloos. the staff was incredibly rude, dismissive and unavailable to customers with melanin. the staff ironically, were very friendly and helpful to customers who had no color. the fried green tomatoes and hash benedict were burnt and tasteless. The water tub was empty, unable to get water, they ignored the request to refill it. None of the syrup i asked for and the wrong milk. Multiple times I have stood at the Pick Up counter and they all look but no one comes to help me or the other guests waiting. I once waited 45 minutes for 1 burger... Talked to 3 employees and kept getting "one sec" "you'll have to wait a minute" until finally the older nice dude came out, asked me what I got, grabbed it and I was out the door albeit 45 minutes later. I wasn't rude to anyone. I smile, I say hello, I place my order and they are always douche bags. I heard a few other patrons complain about the "younger staff" and was relieved I wasn't the only one. I worked at Starbucks for 6 years. I get it! I still work in the service industry. Work can suck and be stressful 90% of the time but we all have bills to pay. You're not special because you have a piss poor attitude about the work you do. Please go back to mommy and daddies house where you belong! P.S. Fantastic place to eat and chill and chat. Easy-going but still serious about providing some nicely-prepared food. Breakfast anytime and a variety of good looking items come the midday. Tried the Western Omelette, which was deeply satisfying. The veggies were properly wilted from the skillet, tucked into the fluffy eggy half-circle. (I asked for salsa on the side, which wasn't as memorable; jarred I think). The home fries were fine, though I prefer them a bit longer cooked. Chunky triangles of red potato coated in a light seasoning. I respect how there are all sorts of ways to try items on the menu. A la cart eggs, fries, pancakes, you name it. Couldn't resist trying one single pancake - and that was the best hunch. Moist, flavorful with a hint of cinnamon. Delish. My dining companion loved the Wake Up Burger, enjoying the fries that come with. They swapped out the American for cheddar cheese, no problem. Can't wait to come back. So here's the thing, I'm all about supporting local businesses I have no problem with food taking a while , I honestly have no problem if the food isn't that great......things happen. The problem I have is staff that treat their customers like they are an inconvenience! The very basic customer service would be great. Restaurants like these are all around Boston, there are too many other options for eateries like Evergreen to treat their customers like they don't care if you patronize them Food was good, nothing special. The main issue was the person at the register, male, gauges, mustache. You know the type of little man that makes the customers wait long enough at the counter so you know he's ignoring you, no other customer waiting, no eye contact, no "I'll be with you in a second". The counter staff clearly hate their jobs, a toxic workplace no doubt. It's not clear when you walk in, that the wait person doesn't take your order, they just deliver the orders. After sitting down, another customer, who was also confused and I realized we could scan the QR code on a table to order....there was only one table I could find outside that had the QR code, so I opted to order at the counter. After waiting about 30mins for the order, I went to the counter to check. After ignoring me as I stood at the counter with no other customers, for their standard period of time, the woman behind the counter went to check. She came back, no update, just continued with her work, until I finally got their attention and asked for the order to be cancelled The whole experience was just disappointing and unnecessary! read more

My roommate and her partner are obsessed with evergreen. They go there basically on a weekly basis, and I decided to try it after a long Costco shopping day. FYI if you want to have breakfast on a Sunday you have to place your order before 3pm because they don't serve it afterwards. We ordered an iced caramel latte with oat milk, mashed burger, and mushroom/ kale omelette with cheese. The latte was SO good, and perfectly sweetened. The burger had a side of french fries (bagged frozen fries) and the omelette had seasoned potatoes (could have used more seasoning). The burger and the Russian sauce were really scrumptious and the omelette was really big and tasty. I give it a four star rating because although I try to avoid potatoes/fries, I do like to pick at them and they could have tasted more fresh and had more seasoning. read more

Solid little cafe with outdoor dining and plenty of options to eat. I came here for brunch and generally had a good time. I ended up eating outside, since it was HOT that day. However, I wouldn't recommend eating inside (on a date or with friends), it's just a bit rinky dink for the location and the food they offer. Getting a table was easy, just walked in, since they don't take reservations. They don't offer table service, you either order on your phone or at the counter and they bring the food to you. You also have to clear your own table. I ordered french toast and it was good, but the bread was a bit too hard. Not a deal breaker, just not my style. I also ordered eggs and bacon and it was just fine. Honestly, nothing to write home about. Overall, this is a decent spot and I would absolutely come here again. This has become one of my favorite places to stop by for many reasons: it's convenient location (xcr Green St Station), the atmosphere (comfy cozy), it's small but there's seating outdoors with little private pods available and family friendly but there are times when there are no seats available so be prepared, cool customer service (friendly not bubbly) which is fine it feels genuine, the food (tasty)-i get the smash burger $8 and fries$3, lemonade $5 and peanut butter cookie all the time and sometimes a salad with chicken, avocado, and boiled egg added which is extra but my belly wants what my belly wants, the prices(affordable$-$$). Josh was extremely rude and sarcastic when I called and the owner Phil while not as sarcastic but had some undertones when he told me two slices is too much carbs and that they've always only used 1 slice of the multigrain bread for a sandwich. The food is good, Asia is God sent and very courteous to Phil's clients and if he's smart he would make her assistant manager over Phil and avoid losing longstanding loyal patrons such as myself. It had originally seemed like most of the food was half-assed due to the drinking culture (why waste time making foods with complex ingredients/flavors when most of the eaters will be intoxicated). But.. man.. Evergreen restored hope. I typed in "Real Maple" and Evergreen was one of the first places to pop up. Let me say that It did not disappoint. Started off with the brioche french toast and till date, it is the best tasting french toast that i've ever had. Thick exterior with a nice buttery and moist cinnamon interior..my God. And then topped off with REAL maple. My only gripe is the lack of regular sausage and the thin costco bacon. The location could also be better.. it can get very cramped. WOAH this place is awesome for a more upscale breakfast. The atmosphere is busy and warm. They have outdoor seating and a bar to sit at in addition to quite a few tables. I had the vegan avocado toast, which was truly AMAZING. The visual of the plate was just the beginning, because the taste was even more impressive. My friend had an omelette which she highly recommended. I tried her home fries and truth be told I did not think they were as crispy as I would have liked (personal preference). But she loved them and they were in fact spiced really nicely. Also as a coffee snob, their coffee was pretty good, which also helps their rating. They had a large variety of coffee drinks, and even a light and a dark roast option for drip. It was definitely much better than your average diner coffee. ALSO this place gets cooler because it also has fully stocked to go area, which I didn't get to peak at. BUT I definitely want to check it out when I need more of a coffee shop stop. read more

7:55am Visited this local business for breakfast this morning! Got the multi grain pancakes with blueberries cooked inside of them, and ordered corn beef hash and rye toast, scrambled eggs with American cheese. The place was clean and the server was warm and friendly greeted with a smile and she seemed like she enjoyed her job! While waiting for my order staff let me know there was spring water or filtered water to drink if I wanted a cup while waiting. Received my order and went home to eat. The pancakes where tasty and cooked delicious the batter was light not heavy they where golden brown, the blueberries where plentiful inside the pancakes. They gave me syrup and butter. The scrambled eggs with cheese good fresh tasting, rye toasted just right fresh tasting bread and the corn beef hash was delicious season well not over salty and a excellent portion with the plate! It's the unpaved lot directly across the street from the restaurant. That's a huge bonus! When you go in, the smaller area is for to go orders only. The area with actual tables is for dine in. We made the mistake of ordering from the take out section. They had to cancel and refund in order for us to eat at the dine in section. Plenty of seating inside and out. We ordered the following: Avocado toast w/ smoked salmon Breakfast wrap Brioche French toast Side of fruit and bacon. Everything was amazing. They even wiped the grease off the bacon before serving!
