Biscuits and Gravy. So good the gravy was poured on another dish.
Michael D.

Never disappoints. Been for dinner, now brunch. Both memorable. The staff is always amazing and attentive. But let's get real the food is the star of this place. You can go tapas and share or not depending on your style. We like to try everything and suggest you do the same. Josh was our server and was always there for a refill or to answer our questions about the food. We will be back.

10 visits later, and it's still one of my favorite dining (esp brunch) spots in Boston!!! Food (5/5): Brassica nails the balance of creating an evolving "American" menu with crowd-pleasing staples as well as bites with extra splashes of deliciously balanced creativity. - staples: the chicken and waffles as well as the sweet fried rice are my go-tos. the balance of sweet and salty is perfection - donuts/biscuits: soul-comforting doughy delights Ambience (4.5/5): the dress code is anywhere from "put together casual" to business casual. Music never too loud for meaningful convo. With the expansion, tables are now spaced for comfortable and intimate convo. Other: - service: casual, relatable, and attentive - parking by the forest hills mbta is pretty reliable - resy: must book in advance and show up within 15min We'll be back!!!

Brunch fried rice & pancake
Miranda S.

I really like what Brassica is doing. The entire menu has a fresh spin on items you might haveve had, but prepared in a unique way that you won't forget. I got a latte, the brunch fried rice, and a pancake. All 3 were great! Our server was also great and it was so cozy inside. I'm excited to go back and try the new space, as well as try the dinner menu, which I believe they are known for.

Walking into Brassica the vibe is instantly casual and welcoming. Our server Ana was fantastic. My husband can't have any food with alcohol in the cooking and instantly upon hearing that she had the chef mark up a menu - something we SO appreciate. At a new to us place We like to know "what shouldn't we miss", and Ana's recs were spot on. The Crab & Donuts were incredible, with the sauce being "lick the bowl clean" delicious. The pork belly with brown butter marshmallow is not to be missed. The risotto - using Parmesan 3 ways was also delicious. And the pizza was incredibly fresh and spring-like topped with snap peas and arugula. We (i) also enjoyed a cocktail (First Date), sweet but balanced. And the chocolate flan a perfect meal ender. We can't wait to go back and try brunch there

Pretzel biscuit

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed brunch this much. The pretzel biscuit was simply incredible. As someone who loves pretzel anything, this was like heaven for me. So soft and warm, and the honey butter was great. The hashbrowns were also excellent. Perfect little potato bites, soft on the inside and the perfect crisp on the outside. Cheese sauce also great. The brunch fried rice was the most unique thing we tried, and it did not disappoint. Super yummy, and had a nice kick to it. Big fan. And chicken and waffles were also great. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and paired well with the very soft waffles. Good to mix and match with all the hot sauces, too! The service was great, the coffee was great, all around can't say enough good things about Brassica!

Yummy donuts

Quaint place near the arboretum we were visiting. Great food and service. We went there for brunch on Saturday. I had the tofu gravy and pretzel biscuit...really good. Marinated firm tofu worked well with the dish. I tried my wife's fried rice and sausage, which was quite tasty, as well as my son's pancakes...also yummy. Had some great homemade donuts at the end. Go there!

Tower Street Sando

Celebration brunch after our daughter graduated from college on Saturday. Reservations absolutely recommended as it is a very popular restaurant! Bustling high energy ambience with small tables best suited for 2-4 people. Friendly staff. We ordered the brunch fried rice, the tower street sando, the chicken and waffles, and the tamale with caramelized mushrooms. Very satisfying delicious meal! Our daughter mentioned Brassica a few times in the past 4 years, so I'm glad we got to check it out!

It's been a while since I've reviewed brassica but that's what happens when you are a frequent visitor. They do a solid brunch. There's enough savory and sweet options for all palates. I love that they do a breakfast fried rice; not a lot of places have this option- it's usually waffles, french toast, and pancakes, which are great but hey, more choices more fun. I also get their maple umeboshi latte which is phenomenal. No one else makes this flavor. Umeboshi is a sour Japanese plum btw, I googled for you! Always worth a trip and yes, make a reservation way in advance.

Corn salad

So yummy! Very diverse and interesting flavors. Plates are small but filling, the fried chicken was delicious and juicy and had a side of pickled cabbage and I believe strong wasabi mustard that complimented the sweet chicken sauce. The risotto had a very strong parmesan umami flavor, it might be too strong for some but I added some hot sauce to help. The corn salsa was amazing, a good soft heat. The inside is a cool vibe and outside seating feels very private. The dishes were all different, with cute patterns. Our server Josh was very kind, funny and knowledgable about the menu! Very welcoming and I appreciate the pricing transparency, the tip and tax is included in the menu, big fan.

Even though I gave it a 5/5, I actually don't know if I would come again. The pasta was very steeply priced for not that much food. I think the chef is one of those people, because I had the muscles today and it was so salt forward. I mean it was dangerously full salt, but I was so hungry that I ate it anyway and then I told the waitress I said I should not even complain because I ate the dish however they should watch out for the salt. She said it's one of the most popular dishes and people like it that way . The restaurant decided to be gracious enough and swap that off of my order and let me get something else instead, but I was already full, so I took home a salad. Hours later, I figured it would be nice to have something refreshing after all that salt. I'm eating the salad and something crunchy and it's not the normal crunch. So I decide to like look into the lettuce and I see dirt. Especially now with everything going on around lettuce I am beyond shocked. I tried to call the restaurant granted it was dinner time but no answer so I called the sister company in another city and they said they would have the manager reach out to me which never happened . What surprised me as well as the manager from the sister location said he finds this surprising because the lettuce comes in triple washed, and they wash it themselves. All I could say to that is maybe open up the lettuce leaves and rinse them or open your eyes. So I'm putting it out there, I would like my money back, but since you can't answer the phone or own up to any responsibility, I'm leaving this message for you because I get a lot of hits on my reviews and I'm gonna tell people do not eat at this place unless your taste buds are completely dead and you just need salt and dirt survive. PS the ambience is so dark. It's decorated nicely, but they definitely need more light can barely read the menu.. Update, Stewart the owner wouldn't take my call, but they did issue a refund .

This is not a very large restaurant, with a bar, tables lined up along the wall, and window ledge seating near the front. She was extremely friendly, with such an inviting smile and warm demeanor. You could tell she meant business! She got our order in quickly and made us feel welcome from the start. We ordered the spicy ong choy appetizer (Pak Boong Fai Dang), which came with a serious chili kick and was absolutely delish! If you enjoy some heat, this one delivers. The whole branzino (Pla Lui Suan) was another winner, cooked beautifully to the point where the meat was flaky, tender, and practically fell off the bones. We rounded out the meal with crab fried rice to get some carbs into the mix. I especially enjoyed the nice lumps of crab throughout the rice, and the accompanying sauce was a match made in heaven! My only wish? Bigger portions! Everything tasted so good that I wanted more of it. Perhaps that's why they call it Thai tapas? The portions are definitely on the smaller side, especially if you're coming in with a big appetite. You'll probably want to order a few dishes to share. Overall, Mahaniyom delivers some seriously good Thai food with bold flavors, excellent execution, and genuinely hospitable service. Despite the wait and smaller portions, I walked away impressed and would gladly return to try more of their menu. Quality Thai food in Boston that's worth checking out!

Overall, everything tasted great (esp the fried chicken and home fries) and the portions were massive to just right. If there were a few kinks to iron out, I'd say that the beignets weren't really airy and some of the mushroom stems in the omelette were really tough and should've been discarded before cooking. Next for dinner: their fried chicken dinner which came with Mac and cheese, collard greens/broccolini, cornbread, and the tempura hake, and a side of cornbread with pecan butter. That pecan butter was delicious, we definitely asked for more. The fried chicken dinner was also amazing, every single dish in it. The hake while crispy, didn't have enough salt. The server fixed it immediately with a side of garlic aioli and that was great. If I could make a suggestion, I would say they should swap out the celery root slaw for something that goes better with the fish. Service was excellent both times. Very friendly and accommodating, always asking if we enjoyed our meal and they were quick to make things right if we had requests. It's a bit on the newer side and while they continue to make improvements, there weren't any disappointments this evening. Sat at the bar to start waiting for friends and try a couple of their signature cocktails. I'm a huge fan of bourbon followed by tequila. There was a drink on the menu called, "Orange you Glad" that blended both. Too tempting not to give it a shot so I did. There's one shot of bourbon and a half a shot of tequila along with a quarter shot of banana liquor, banana liquor, green mango and lime.... spectacular. Four roses bourbon is the foundation making it an excellent start. There's not a huge choice of appetizers or entrées, but what they do offer is a nice variety with something you should easily find to your liking. We had two appetizers, the pickled veggies and the mussels. The pickled veggies were good, but the muscles were outstanding. Plenty of muscles to share. The sauce they were a part of was out of this world tasting. Of all the choices on the menu I actually went with the half chicken because it sounded so good. Many can make an argument that you can't screw up chicken, but few can make an argument when the chicken is outstanding. This was absolutely outstanding. Even the sides were amazingly good. If you're looking for a new restaurant and tired of the same old, same old, this one is worth your effort.
