This is a really good neighborhood breakfast spot with a community vibe. It is a little pricey for breakfast but I have never been disappointed by the food or the service. On Saturdays it gets duper busy around 10-11, so try to get there an hour before or after that window. Lots of parents bring their little ones do it I'd definitely family friendly. I appreciate leaving a breakfast place every time not smelling like grease. Skip IHOP and support a local spot. And the pancakes, though on the smaller side, are light and fluffy! read more

Great vibes, disappointing food: This was my first time at Jpizle. My group was greeted and seated quickly upon entering despite it being a busy Saturday morning. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and fun with beautiful artwork and wall decor. All the servers I interacted with were very patient and kind. I was so excited for a community/culturally-centered brunch spot. But then came our breakfast... The coffee was undrinkably sour (every mug at our table went untouched) and the food was okay at best. While the variety of American and Colombian dishes was impressive - none of them were yummy. I unfortunately won't be returning, I can't justify spending money on food and drinks that barely border on edible. read more

Had a nice Saturday stop-in with my friends in JP. We were greeted by a very welcoming and charismatic server -- he was the highlight of our experience. The menu was primarily breakfast food with an odd assembly of other options (like Chicken Parm). The food wasn't amazing but wasn't bad either.... It got the job done and scratched our diner-itch. My meal, the avocado toast, wasn't very flavorful unfortunately. Prices were solid for the area. We will probably be back! read more

Jpizle is a Centre Street Icon in Jamaica Plain. If you want tasty Columbian Food as well as American staples like burgers and fries, please stop by. Breakfast, lunch and early dinner are all recommended, although breakfast/brunch is my favorite. I must mention that you ask for Mr Elijah. He is my preferred waiter. So knowledgeable of the various dishes and will enhance your visit there. Don't get me wrong. The staff is very good. Mr. Elijah however is to put it in more urban terms, Da Bomb, IMO. That bwing said. Whomever you have on the waitstaff will serve you admirably. Pictures next visit. read more

I first visited JPizle 2 years ago when my daughter moved to JP. It was great. The food was made with care. Good coffee drinks and friendly service. We went today and things have clearly gone downhill. The menus were covered with a layer of grime. The floor, also, was grimy and sticky to walk on. The coffee was too strong. The chicken and waffles were so dry that no amount of syrup could remedy the situation. The folks are still friendly and it's still a cool atmosphere, but we will go somewhere else for breakfast next time. read more

The service makes this place special. Elijah was great and makes the experience whole. We travel a lot and this spot reminds me of the diners in the DR. I love the open concept. This was my second trip, my first time there was for coffee and let's say I live 49 minutes away but yet the coffee was worth the drive. The food was pretty good and the menu has a decent variety. Overall the vibe and service of this place is what makes it. read more

I never thought to find a very authentic Colombian restaurant in Boston. My friend moved to this area to be closer to his work. Him and his buddies all grew up with authentic South American, Caribbean, and dishes with a strong kick of flavors. Everything was so delicious down to the T. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and he gave us good tips on how to even order our breakfast signature smoothies. My drink was a passion fruit smoothie so I had the option to select it with milk or water. Went with the water choice but he made a face and nudged me to try with milk. It's not a common mixture but it worked out quite well. Forgot to take pictures of the drink because I couldn't stop myself from finishing it. Thanks for the great advice. My friends who suggested this place came back the second time they were visiting Boston. They had the specials so just settled on the traditional breakfast items like omelettes and pancakes. I will say we did get the blueberry mascarpone cheese pancakes. Two stacks of rolled fresh off the stove pancakes and the steam was still leaving the pancake. So mellowed and perfect in sweet levels and taste. I was in love. But that wasn't the end of that breakfast love affair. Because I was a first timer, I was recommended to get the Calentado, traditional Colombian breakfast. There was no flaw with this dish. As a girl who loves pork dishes of all the animals to eat, I made my way through each item one by one. Started from the chicharon, to the rice and beans with the arepa butter and cheese on top, and finally the scrambled eggs with tomatoes and scallions. This was the wake up breakfast I needed after a late night rock concert and Mario Kart because you were too wired to go back to sleep. A good breakfast booth experience in Boston away from seafood and good for a gal who grew up with this type of food. read more

I love a diner with some character, and Jpizle has that charm I'm looking for. The beatiful thing is that in addition to your classic diner menu items, they have a long list of colombian dishes, which I've been wanting to try for a while. Yes, the service is a bit slow, but it's worth the wait. Plus, time feels like a construct in there, it's so calming and restful. Check this out next time you're in JP! read more

Every time we've come to JPizzle for brunch, we've been happy with our experience, the atmosphere is pleasant, the food is delish and we love when we get Elijah as our server (to be clear, all of the employees are lovely, Elijah just makes you feel like a regular and recognizes us when we come in)! I tried the huevos rancheros today and they were excellent-it was a hard choice though as I usually go for the Nutella and berries French toast or pancakes. Highly recommend!!! read more

one of my fave spots in the neighborhood. every time i go in there i feel like i'm treated like family. Elijah is the best and always makes me smile. The sausage on the taquito which is my favorite and the colombian breakfast is the best sausage i have ever tasted and my hubby loves the pancakes with everything on them. It's truly a decadent dessert. The ambience reminds me of an old diner and i adore diners coming from NJ. The owner is wonderful too. read more

Came here for brunch with 3 other people on a Sunday morning. We got there at around 11 and we got seated right away. We ordered the bean town benny, breakfast taquitos, Colombian omelette, and a chicken and waffle. We also had a mac and cheese for the table. The chicken and waffle was my entree and I would give it a 4/5! The waffle was perfectly made, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I like how it also came with a side of gravy other than the syrup. You can also choose to have bacon with it and that's what I did! The only thing that I didn't like about this is that the chicken was chicken pieces and not an entire piece of chicken. I also got a pina colada smoothie and it was really good! The smoothie was sooo smooth and creamy, almost like a milkshake and I highly recommend it! I also tried some mac and cheese and the Benny other than the entree. The mac and cheese was very cheesy and I like the addition of the spring onion on top. I just wish that little cast iron would retain heat better and keep the dish warmer for longer. The egg of the Benny was perfectly cooked but I'm not sure if using a corn muffin instead of an English muffin a great idea. The corn muffin was a little too sweet for the dish and it got really crumbly, which made it messy to eat. The side of potatoes were delicious and perfectly seasoned though. Overall, we enjoyed our meals a lot here! Food was reasonably priced and everything was pretty delicious. Will come here again if we come to Boston next time! read more

Wished it was better than it is. The coffee is good, which makes a lot of sense as this place turns into a Columbian restaurant in the evening. The breakfast/brunch fare is, unfortunately, uninspired with mediocre ingredients. For science's sake, and my own craving, I tried the exact same breakfast order that I tried the day before at another Jamaica Plain restaurant: Western Omelet, with potatoes, and a pancake ala carte. While the pancake was moist and flavorful, the syrup was pretty generic and thin. The omelet was just OK. Needed faith and a magnifying glass to locate the onions and peppers. The Virginia Ham was good, and the cheese worked just fine. The body of the omelet was pretty meh. Not fluffy, but more of a flat, slightly dry envelope of egg which didn't help the overall flavor. I asked for salsa or pico de Gallo et al, and I was offered a near-empty and slightly soiled bottle of Tabasco. No, I was not expecting the Ritz. However, I was hungry for so much more than JPizle was able to bring to the table. read more

Delicious brunch I had here. I really enjoyed my chicken and waffles. Now it wasn't the best fried chicken I had because it was basically chicken tenders on waffles. But for fried chicken tenders, the combination wasn't bad at all and I ate everything with maple syrup...delish. This is a super fun place, an energetic but not at all aggressive vibe; perfect for a late brunch on a slow sunny Saturday. The menu is full of fun (and healthy and GF and vegan and... everything) options. They have enough of a full bar to give you a long list of creative cocktail twists on the standard mimosa/Bloody Mary type offerings. The cheese/broccoli omelette was perfect with just right amount of cheese, so many places slather so much cheese it just takes over. Not these guys, this omelette knew its RATIOS. Coffee was just ok, a little sour. Service was great- friendly, fast and non-invasive We recommend! (Also fresh OJ was mmmmm read more

Great place for brunch! Tried it for the first time today and at 11 the place was packed but we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for a table. The service was quick and friendly and the place had a cozy, diner-esque environment. We got the blueberry marscapone pancakes to share which were fluffy and rich and full of fresh blueberries. These weren't too sweet which I appreciated. I got the country fried chicken which came with eggs, toast and home fries! The chicken was crispy and moist and home fries were well seasoned. The other two got The Reservoir (I think was the name) which came with eggs, choice of meat, home fries, and French toast/pancakes. Our table almost couldn't fit all the food! The prices here are what threw me off for the portions we got. Each meal was $10-11 and I was expecting it to be smaller sized. Overall great place for food and service! Will definitely be back for brunch and to try their dinner service of Colombian tapas! read more

We are a suspicious lot, unopen to new restaurants because God Only Knows, Let's Play It Galway House Safe until this new place has proved it doesn't serve kitten tartare-stuffed baby calves or some such ethical culinary throat-clutch. Most particularly This Place With the Silly Name. Well, color us convinced. The food is delicious, the decor is happy, vivid and bold, and the service is wowee-wow. We shall return, and we shall proclaim the goodness of JPizle to our Airbnb guests, sending a trickle of Ukrainians and New Jerseyans and other exotic foreigners to them. Attached is a photo of sauteed Spinach, graciously swapped for keto no-no sides during brunch. Fresh, garlicky, sesame seedy: the nicest spinach side dish i could have asked for. JPizle is hands down the best breakfast place in JP. They nail all of the classics you could want while adding some awesome Colombian and Texmex flavors to the mix. Whenever we have friends or family visiting from out of town we always order in JPizle for breakfast one morning. I don't even have a go-to order because there's so many dishes we like. A few of our favorites are the Bean Town Bennie (eggs benedict on a corn muffin is a game changer), the Colombian breakfast/calentado (the arepas and pork rind are pure hangover cure goodness) and the blueberry marscapone pancakes. The huevos rancheros and breakfast taquitos also never disappoint and all your breakfast staples are solid. We've only had dinner here once and we ordered delivery. I had the steak tips and had them underwhelming. I forget what M ordered but he also didn't love it. I don't know if it was an off night, we ordered the wrong things, or they're just not as fire at dinner food but I'd hesitate to do dinner here again given so many great restaurants in JP. The biggest downside to breakfast at JPizle is the coffee. I don't drink drip coffee (too acidic for me) and I've been underwhelmed by their espresso drinks. Pro-move: pick up breakfast from JPizle, coffees from any number of awesome coffee shops of Center St and bring the whole meal home or if it's nice out, for a picnic at Loring Greenough. read more

Appreciate this local place in JP! I had a chicken rice bowl and my friend had the salmon which he loved! My bowl had a nice flavor with lots of rice and beans. The chicken was a bit over cooked. What a homey place! The food was quite delicious and felt like it was prepared with loveeeee. It wasn't standoffish or "fancy" but just...felt nice to eat, if that makes sense. We ordered the arepa sampler, the rice explosion, and the chocolo con queso. Everything was good (admittedly not mindblowing). The arepa "toppings" were flavorful and fresh, and the arepa itself crumbly without being dry. The rice explosion was richly flavored with chorizo, egg, avocado, and braised pork (I think). The chocolo was interesting--something like a corn cake (I could be wrong) in a cast iron skillet, drizzled with condensed milk and topped with LOADS of melted cheese. It was a little too rich for us to finish but it was plenty tasty! Service was pretty fast and very friendly. A nice addition to the neighborhood. read more

PSA yelpiverse, JPizle is trying out serving Columbian food from 5:30-9:30pm and it is a MUST try. It's mostly tapas style plates. Our group ordered 7 different plates and they each were ah-may-zing. Our favorites were the papas rellenos and the empanadas! (We ordered more of each of these plates because we loved them so much) The service was wonderful and they even gave us samples of the lentil soup (to die for) and aguapenela (a sweet Columbian drink). Delicious Breakfast. I liked the treatment of the eggs and the home fries (oregano added, I think?) and I got a lot more bacon than I ever expect (most places give you two strips... I feel like I got 5 or 6). Fluffy french toast is a new concept for me... but I buy it. =) Waitstaff was prompt and friendly.
