5-star experience at Theo's Cozy Corner this morning. Owner Theo came from Brazil in 1989, started working here as a dishwasher and bought the business a few years later. Smart man, great little corner. (Note: I asked him his story, he's attentive yet will leave you alone if you don't want to chat.) This place is clean, the menu variety is plentiful without being overwhelming. Prices are extremely reasonable. Food is fast, high quality, and tasty. Came here on a sunday around noon for brunch, and didn't have to wait too long to be seated for a table of 3. It's a very small and cozy restaurant, with a classic diner vibe. It was very standard brunch food. The chicken in my sandwich was fried well and was very crispy, but I would have liked more lettuce and tomato in my sandwich. Nothing super memorable about the food, but the staff was very kind and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Do note that they are cash only, and there isn't an atm in the restaurant. read more

The cutest little dinner in the North End. Cash only and fantastic owners who are so friendly. They have an extensive menu but I've really only had the breakfast. It's great, large breakfasts and very good. I will say I wish they had better lattes and or more alternative milks. But definitely a must try! read more

My husband and I had breakfast here today and the staff were so friendly. I had the supreme omelette (cream cheese, sweet corn and tomato inside) and my husband had the corned beef hash omelette. We enjoyed both. Both came with home potatoes (cubed) and toast. They also had numerous Brazilian dishes on the menu, in addition to breakfast. It's a small, cash-only restaurant. read more

Now this is a special place and I am so happy to have found it. Cozy corner indeed and it was awesome. First time here and won't be the last, I'll make my trip into Boston for here! The service and owners are outstanding. They love what they do and you see it in their passion. So so so kind and helpful! I have celiac so I need to eat gluten free and the owner gave me a few great options (and they were great!) My mom had the chocolate French toast, super sweet and extremely chocolatey but she loved it! I had the basic breakfast with eggs, ham and potatoes. The portion sizes here are massive and delicious! Came in on a Monday morning around 11 o'clock. It was fairly busy. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and our order was taken right away. The server we had was very nice ! She was very polite. Our food came out very quickly and it was delicious! We ordered the Picanha Steak Plate & Eggs Benedict. The steak plate was great! And the eggs Benedict, in my opinion, the hollandaise sauce was a bit runny, but still a great plate! If we are ever in the state again, we will definitely be back! I saw a photo of these chocolate French toast on Yelp, and went there exclusively for it. They were absolutely delicious! We split them, and the plate in front of me is half of a regular order. Very generous portion! Service was great, and you can tell there are a lot of locals. Very cute cozy atmosphere as well. read more

I visited Theo's based on the positive Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did! Theo's is a small spot with a cozy, homely atmosphere. Just a heads-up, they only accept cash, which I didn't realize at first (but there's a small sign on a torn piece of paper inside, which I missed until I noticed everyone paying with cash). Thankfully, they were kind enough to let me go to the nearby ATM to withdraw money. I sat at the high-top area and ordered an omelet with white toast and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate came in a glass that I absolutely loved, and the omelet was good, though it could have used a little more salt and pepper. The server was friendly, and the owners (I think?) gave off a warm and welcoming vibe. Although it was a bit of a surprise with the cash-only policy, I would definitely return if I'm ever back in Boston to try out their lunch options! read more

First off, for the tiny space they have to work with, they have mastered how to be the most efficient as possible, down to the line outside being provided menus! I had an Italian omelette with hot Italian sausage, provolone cheese and lots of peppers and onions! It was delicious! The service was amazing, everyone is checking in to make sure you're taken care of. They make it a point to talk to everyone walking in. It appeared to be run entirely by family (I could be wrong with that) and it felt very authentic and local. My husband and I originally went in solely because his name is also Theo, but we're so grateful we did! The Italian Cold Cut was stuffed full and delicious. The food here is amazing. Every single bite of pancakes had chocolate chips and bananas. The bacon was crispy. The French toast was so good. And the steak and eggs were a hit too. Found this little neighborhood gem of a cozy cafe located in little Italy that was open on Thanksgiving day until 2pm. Very nice genuine hospitality and a nice selection of sandwiches, breakfast and brunch items. Very friendly family and staff running it. Not too big but cozy! Enjoyed our breakfast here on a snowy/icy Wednesday morning. They are indeed ***cash only*** as the sign on the window says, so come prepared for that :) Food was solid, I got the breakfast special ($13.95 with a meat) and my friend got the corn beef hash ($17.95). Subtracting a star because our server forgot to bring our coffee until the end of our meal and double charged for my coffee (only $2.25 but it was supposed to be included in the breakfast special per their menu) and always feel awk asking for clarification haha but he ultimately removed the coffee charge from one of our orders. Coffee is served in those classic thick diner mugs which was a plus. Otherwise a cute spot to grab a solid breakfast in the North End. It wasn't too busy today, but I can imagine it could be harder to find a seat there on the weekends! read more

Here on vacation from Los Angeles and my wife and I were craving eggs and sausage and pancakes. Found this gem on Yelp and this place is so freaking delicious!! The bacon was perfect!! Even though the space is tight, everything moves smoothly--they've truly mastered the balance of efficiency and genuine friendliness. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and they were fantastic--perfectly cooked and the kind of meal you want to slow down and enjoy. I was in town while my wife was at a work conference, and I kept wishing she could've been there too. Watching the omelettes being cooked right behind the counter made it very hard not to change my order on the spot. Theo's is a great place! Perfect for a good hungover breakfast and honestly always a very friendly staff. It's a little small so we usually get it to go! I've had a number of things on their menu including eggs Benedict, French toast, hash, pancakes, and a few others and every single one of them is made with that special diner-style love that you'd find at any good mom and pops diner. Sometimes there is a wait and you might think it might not be worth it - just wait it out. Food is definitely worth the sometimes ~30 minute wait. Waking up slightly late on a weekend after a night of drinking and having a plate of eggs, sausage, home fries, toast and pancake in front of you is a very satisfying feeling. Pair that up with some diner coffee (don't take this the wrong way, I love diner coffee) and you feel like your world is complete. They also have this special in-house made hot sauce which can be a little hot at times, but it'll definitely provides a nice kick that helps you finish off that plate of food. Slightly crammed in there at times, but I think it just adds to the charm of this place. Can go wrong with a no frills diner that serve some awesome breakfast food! Have not tried their Brazilian items so will have to try them the next time I am there! read more

Maybe I'm just picky... didn't realize this place was cash only but should've been more prepared since a lot of places in the north end are. Had $33 bucks on me and my friend had $0, so we had to make the most of it for breakfast. My friend got a plain cheese omelet that we lovingly refer to now as "that sheet of paper". I think I got the hot Italian sausage and provolone omelet, and with the peppers and onions, it really reminded me of a combo pizza flavor in an egg, which was yummy. A good deal for something like $14, it came with coffee and home fries. It's a good price for some average food, and I love how it felt very local when we walked in early on a Friday morning. It felt like a place regulars come to grab a cup of Joe and a quick breakfast while catching up with some neighbors. A cozy corner indeed, but I just can't get over the sad looking cheese omelet. Oh and $33 was perfectly enough to cover the bill + tips. read more

Line out the door mainly due to there only being 30 seats inside. Probably looking at 300 square feet, including kitchen. Inside, I'm not exaggerating when I say it was pushing 95° in our little preheated oven of a dining room. There is a 90% chance your food will have the chef's sweat in it, so fair warning. Helps build character, so won't hurt. My personal biggest complaint was my omelette -- no bueno. Mushrooms were a bad choice for my in-omelette items, as these were canned pre-sliced mushrooms. Cheddar cheese would've made the omelette much better than the (I think provolone?) cheese they used, but that's just me. However, country potatoes were great, and my moms strawberry waffles were melt-in-your-mouth. Theo's is an experience, to say the least. Good spot to go to just to say you've gone to. read more

On my most recent visit, I ordered the seafood pasta for two, which used to be one of my favorite dishes. The sauce was much more tomato-forward and spicy than I remembered. In the past, it was creamier, richer, and had a better balance of flavors that really complemented the seafood. The dish just didn't have the same depth and consistency that made it stand out before. I've also noticed that the service has gone downhill. The experience feels more rushed, and the level of attentiveness isn't what it used to be.

Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala.
