One weird thing - during the one hour I was there for breakfast on Saturday, at least three glasses were dropped and shattered. We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast at Grana after our stay at the Langham hotel. The space is unbelievable insanely vaulted ceilings chandeliers it feels like you're walking into a castle or a mansion. I can see why they host weddings there. The Christmas decor they had was the icing on the cake. The service was magnificent as well we had told them we were celebrating a recent engagement and they made us feel so special by giving us milkshakes and cupcakes with our breakfast. A little bit of a funny choice with our bacon and eggs, but we appreciated it nonetheless. We got the classic breakfast spread and the farro grain bowl and both were delicious. The green bowl was a nice shift from a traditional breakfast. It had really crispy fried kale in it a delicious green goddess sauce that I wanted another entire cup of and the potatoes and mushrooms were impeccable. We also got the Cacio E Pepe omelette but I would never get that again. The omelette itself was not good at all. We thought it would have a little bit more innovation, but it was really just some scrambled eggs with what tasted like jarred sauce poured on top of it. I do not recommend this dish. The bread and potatoes and bacon were all crispy and delicious. The waiter came around asking if we wanted hot coffee. My fiancé said yes, and poured him a glass. We later looked at the menu and noticed the coffee was $8. I was absolutely appalled since it was the same coffee they were serving for free in the hotel lobby and of course it's not the waiter's fault but that's obscene. Forgive me if I thought I walked up the staircase and settled in a grand tearoom in Rome in the 1920's. A brush across the breakfast menu tells you they are trying to pull Italian classics into breakfast. Not sure how a Roman would feel about Cacio e Pepe scramble or a Caprese omelette. The host asked how my stay was and I didn't complain-just said it was 'okay.' Most people would have just ignored that. Instead, he asked questions and I told him my first world woes. He wanted to help but I advised that someone was already engaged in this issue. I noticed he spoke to my server and I suspected he told her I had some challenges. She was extra friendly and helpful with suggestions. After I ordered, the host brought over a complimentary fruit plate. It was beautiful. I had the most fantastic experience here celebrating my hunny's birthday. It is located inside of the Langham Hotel, which is a beautiful luxurious hotel in downtown Boston. There is no open lot parking, so you are restricted to street or valet parking. When you enter the hotel someone will guide you to the restaurant which is a small walk from the lobby area of the hotel. The restaurant is absolutely GORGEOUS! Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the walls are lined with pictures of previous presidents and the whole aesthetic is very posh. Our waiter was so sweet and kind, and was prompt in taking our orders and discussing the specials of the day. My man ordered the lobster roll with fries and I got a pasta dish. Both were absolutely delicious. I also ordered some kind of pear mimosa and it was the most wonderful way to start of my time there. My ONLY hang up is that their menu is heavily salad based - like they seem to have a lot of salad entrees which isn't bad but a girl likes carbs lols. Wow, wow, wow! We were in town visiting family and came in for Brunch at Grana. Our group of 4 decided to order several different dishes so we could all share, and I'm so glad we did! From the Lemon cello French toast and Scottish eggs (with a delicious Dijon sauce and pickled mushrooms), to their unique take on Sausage gravy and biscuits (they serve it over pasta instead) and the show stopping Cannoli pancakes, each dish quickly became our favorite! I don't understand the dismal reviews for this beautiful brunch spot. I stayed at the hotel for three nights while in town for the Boston Half Marathon and had breakfast included so had breakfast and brunch here all three days. Each day was wonderful with excellent service, food, ambiance and timing of my tickets. I believe earlier issues have been seen in these reviews and addressed by management bc I was worried about all I had read and experienced none of it happened to me. My server the entire time, Jean, was polite, professional, prompt, around often, and all my food was out within minutes of order. My drinks never took longer than 5 minutes (including smoothies and hot tea) and my food never took longer than 10 minutes and I had a range of items. Over three days I tried: -Overnight Oats - served with strawberries, cacao and a hazelnut crunch -Almond Cinnamon and Berry Smoothies - fresh and yummy, nice size too -Egg Benedict - perfectly poached eggs, delicious bread, and perfectly cooked breakfast potatoes -Egg White Frittata - really really good! You can sub out mushrooms if needed. -Daily Danish/Muffin - ask for these warmed up! SUPER fresh and yummy. The danish when I was here was an apricot/almond and was stellar. I ordered it twice! -Hot Tea with cream / Dirty Chai Latte - both out in minutes and delish! -The Instagram Secret Milkshake - mine was a vanilla pumpkin pie creation. Service is not what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. My so and I have both served so we understand that there are other things going on that customers don't see. But when we had to wait quite a while to get our order taken (sometimes that comes from the back of the house as they are swamped), but we had water dropped and that was it for about 15 min... about an hour to get our food. Our server never checked on us and when we wanted ketchup, we had to both keep our eyes peeled for them and they couldn't be more annoyed. When we wanted to order more coffee... rinse repeat... get our check... rinse repeat. On the bright side, our experience in their other restaurant the night before was worse. Their decor is grand and bright, perfect for an early day date. It was quiet and echo-ey in their dining room, but it was still very kid-friendly. Usually I love Grana. Mostly for power breakfasts to discuss business but today we went for Easter brunch. Never again! It was shockingly bad! FYI, I have been to Grana in the past for their Easter brunch. It has always been spectacular until now. Having your girlfriend and her 12 yr old son say "This menu is so bizarre and we don't know what to order" was a clear indicator of a problem. The menu was so limited with no beef, meat or poultry dishes. In the past there were carving stations along with a variety of food. There were no egg dishes other than a mushroom frittata. The only bread was hot cross buns. We complained about the menu. The waiter was not apologetic because he said the menu was on the website for more than a month. Totally not true. I checked OpenTable and the website and there was nothing. Even the manager said the menu wasn't settled on until a week ago and wasn't available until last week. Makes me think that the chef was so ill prepared that they missed out on ordering the food for the brunch. They allowed us to order off their normal menu. Unfortunately that was a mistake. It took them well over an hour, 75 minutes, to get us any food. Then when they got it to us they forgot my meal. My girlfriend's meal had undercooked poached eggs in some form of sauce. It was disgusting because the egg whites were mixed in with the sauces creating this snot like consistency. Service was non-existent. We would go 10-15 minutes without seeing our waiter or the manager. Kind of bizarre since our table was by the entrance to the kitchen. When they did show up they were trying to be helpful. I should have paid nothing but paid for our meals and left. I had them take my girlfriend's meal off the bill. Apparently this place is pretty instagram/TikTok famous but I wasn't aware when we came here for a 10:30 breakfast reservation mid-week during February vacation. We literally had the entire restaurant to ourselves at this point. Hostess was friendly and seated us promptly. Took a little bit for the waitress to come over- which was odd given we were 1 of only 2 tables with guests! Kids menu included old school view finders- which was very cool- I must say, my son and my best friends daughter had never seen such devices but had gotten a kick out of it! I can't get my son to ever look at a menu so this was probably the first time he was excited to pick out his meal! He ordered the silver dollar pancakes and a fresh squeezed orange cake juice. For an empty restaurant the wait for the food was pretty long, and for whatever strange reason- my sons orange juice did not come out until halfway through his breakfast... I get that it's fresh squeezed but that was really strange and a tad annoying as we were both thirsty and I was planning on splitting it with him. My go to breakfast choose is ALWAYS French toast if I'm not doing eggs/bacon. The French toast they had on their menu looked ABSOLUTELY amazing however the flavor it featured was banana which I HATE- so I knew I couldn't order it no matter what way I twisted and turned. But I really wanted to so badly try it! Unfortunately I had to pass because that was the only flavor they had! I ended up ordering a Belgian waffle which was HUGE- I think I ended up eating half of it! It was good, but nothing "special" about it- for the price it could have been much better! The Bolognese Arancini definitely tasted like bolognese, although too sutil. The outside was very crunchy, but the breading was too thick and the inside lacked creaminess. Carbonara Benedict was my favorite! The textures were perfect all arounds - the eggs, the sauce, the crispy pancetta. I loved the ciabatta english muffin because it hold well together as you ate it and it was nicely buttered and toasted. A bit more sauce would've gone a long way. The Egg White Frittata was very delicate but delicious, and you could taste all the ingredients well. Should be more especial for $26 though and the presentation was a bit sad. The Eggs in Purgatory were also delicious and tasted like an Italian Shakshuka. I just kept wishing there was something unique or espectacular about them. The saddest part about Grana is it could easily get a five star review if they wanted to. The staff were exceedingly nice; but were clearly overwhelmed and the kitchen backed up. We were staying at the Langham and breakfast at Grana was included. But the first issue isn't the food, it's just getting seated. There is a long set of stairs leading up to the host stand. The issue is there's no room by the host stand, so if there's a line, you're waiting on the stairs. The hostess when we visited physically went to the floor of the restaurant to look and see which tables were available; doing this took 1-2 minutes, and doing it every time a party was to be seated meant when there were 5+ parties in line to be seated meant you were waiting 10+ minutes just to be seated. But we finally got seated, all good. Except that it took ten minutes for our waitress to just come by - but when she did, she was exceedingly apologetic. We ordered our coffees and food in one go and she disappears. Another full ten minutes pass, and our water glasses haven't even been filled. I have to go and flag our waitress down, and she apologizes because they're "out of tap water" (...how?) but she will bring by a complementary bottle of still spring water. Minute 40 (10 waiting + 30 at the table) rolls around, and we finally have water. Our coffee is also brought, but because we had ordered the coffee 20 minutes ago, the hot coffee is cold. We had to send it back. Minute 45, our hot coffees arrive actually hot. And then there was a large wait for our food. It was another full 15 minutes until our breakfast - keep in mind, we ordered banana bread and eggs, not something that is terribly complicated - to arrive. The banana French toast was amazing, as is the sticky bun. But the eggs Benedict was so disappointing, because it was flavored so well, but it was severely over cooked. I found out about this place on social media and it did not disappoint! My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and we got the "Al tavolo" 3-course brunch. Everything was so delicious - I'd highly recommend this, especially if you're willing to splurge for a special occasion. I had the passion fruit spritz to drink which was so pretty, sweet, and delicious. For the second course, I ordered the zucchini bread French toast which was sooo good. The tartness of the sour cherry syrup balanced well with the richness of the mascarpone. The ambience is the main draw here - the place is gorgeous and historical. There are interesting paintings on the wall that our waitress even took the time to explain. I was pretty impressed by the service. We left absolutely stuffed, I didn't have room for dessert.
