I'm definitely a pasta connoisseur and this place is AMAZING! Stumbled upon this place and i'm always in the mood for Italian so I knew I had to try it. It was such a beautiful day outside leading me to decide to sit on the patio. Great decision. It's covered with umbrellas and a few wire patio tables. The chairs are actually quite comfortable. I decided on the Rigitoni with vodka sauce (one of my favorite pastas) It was absolutely amazing!! My boyfriend got the scampi and it was full of amazing flavors. I've never had a scampi be so flavorful! I love that there was a hint of lemon. I add the breaded chicken cutlet to my pasta and it was a great choice. We had dinner positions and it was enough for leftover, which might I add heat up very well due to the high quality of the food. We were also offered bread with oil and it was the perfect mix of soft and chewy from the crust. 10/10 food. The atmosphere is very classy with a hit of casual sense to it. This may have been the particular dishes I chose , but unfortunately, the food was just okay I ordered the shrimp scampi and Brussels sprouts. The sprouts had too much balsamic reduction on it which was cloying, and the garlic aioli didn't have a distinctive taste. Together it was too much sauce and the sprouts were generally overcooked, the mushy texture that makes people dislike them. The shrimp was cooked perfectly but the seasoning was on the bland side and too little sauce. It did have a nice brightness on the lemon and butter. The pasta had good texture (freshly made), but not enough flavor. The place was quite busy on a Monday night, but I don't think I'll return. read more

Thought that I was gonna get pasta, but decided to settle for sandwiches instead and it ended up being a great decision! The pesto chicken sandwich is absolutely delicious-- from the focaccia bread being heavily seasoned to the chicken being juicy and crunchy at the same time, with the pesto, bring a great taste to the table overall, I absolutely loved this sandwich. The meatball Panini was also delicious if you are a meatball fan! Service was good. I just wish that it was a little bit more attentive at times as we waited a little longer to have gotten our check. I will come back here again to try more of their dishes and to try some of their drinks as well! read more

I called the restaurant shortly before 1PM on a Wednesday to see if they had any open tables for a solo diner. As it turns out, they had plenty of open tables and I opted to sit outside on a whim since it was sunny and gorgeous out. I ordered the Clelia's Penne and a glass of the Hess Chardonnay. The chicken was browned beautifully, pasta was cooked perfectly, the micro greens and squash also brightened up the dish. And when ordering this, it doesn't hurt to top it with some more cheese! Don't be fooled by size of the serving plate, the look is light & delicate - but I was seriously stuffed after this lunch special. I had just enough room for a light dessert. So I asked for a single scoop of the mango gelato. I saw people a few tables down getting as many as 3 scoops, perhaps I'll follow suit the next time I'm visiting Boston. I came for lunch, but if I'm ever in the area again - I'd seriously consider ordering their truffle ravioli for dinner. read more

As a wine lover, I was excited to try Piattini after several of my friends in Boston highly recommended it, and it definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered two glasses of Merlot, the shrimp scampi, and the garlic bread. Everything was delicious. The food was flavorful, well-prepared, and the portions were generous. We chose to sit on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the lovely weather with a nice breeze. My only small complaint is that the patio feels a bit cramped. There are quite a few tables in a relatively small space, so it can feel a little tight when it's busy. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back. read more

every once in a awhile, i give a place a chance to redeem themselves. unfortunately, i won't be in a rush back here again. not terrible, not great, but great views outside and gorgeous interior. i come for the food primarily though. it was a beautiful day on Newbury street and i wanted to get a little bite to eat while eating outside on a gorgeous summer day. sabrina was extremely nice & checked in often before my meal and once after, but i was waiting for awhile for the check. i forgot my wallet but they have apple pay! i didn't receive the check, i was told it was $59 which seemed a bit high, but i paid it and 25% tip, but when i went in and had to ask for a receipt. while walking back to my car in a rush, i felt ripped off like a tourist when i saw the receipt. i ordered a chicken pesto sandwich with a side caesar salad, and had asked if they had half portions of pasta to try. she said yes and i asked which of two options she would choose, and she suggested the chicken, ziti & broccoli. i figured a half portion would be half price, or at least less than the full size. i was overcharged for the half pasta with chicken and broccoli costing additional fees to $27, when the full size is $19. i did call a few hours later and spoke with the assistant manager, melissa, regarding my experience. she said it was not rung in the correct way and i did receive a refund for the overcharge & inconvenience, and she handled it very well. she said they take customer complaints very seriously and was happy to help address the issue quickly on a busy friday night. the chicken, ziti, broccoli was creamier than expected and has fresh homemade fusilli, covered in cheese & good amount of chicken but it could use a bit extra flavor. i liked it, but i would have preferred more olive oil than cream, topped with fresh parmesan & cracked black pepper. the chicken pesto sandwich is solid, on delicious focaccia but would be better with some basil, spinach or arugula. the caesar salad had a bunch of white lettuce & ends, and i completely forgot about the cyclospora outbreak but it's fine because i didn't get sick here. sabrina was happy to provide fresh parmesan & cracked pepper. chicken ziti broccoli 6.8/10 chicken pesto sandwich 8.2/10 side caesar salad 4/10 berry mocktail 8.2/10 overall, this place is beautiful, the vibes inside and out are there, but i'm always wishing the food was a bit better for a newbury street restaurant. ambiance: 5/5 food: 3.6/5 drinks: 4.6/5 service: 4.8/5 piattini: 3.5/5 (docked point for overcharge, happy it was fixed but still inconvenient. what if i hadn't asked for the check that wasn't offered?) read more

After a long walk on Newberry St., our family was craving Italian food and chose this spot for its proximity and solid Yelp reviews. We sat indoors on a cooler evening--the space was warm and cozy, though our table was a bit too close to the bathroom for my liking. Service was decent and reasonably attentive. We started with the burrata appetizer, which was enjoyable, though the peppers leaned more toward a shakshuka-style flavor than a traditional Italian preparation. Stumbled in here for lunch after not eating the entire day. The hostess immediately sat us however gave us the worst two person table downstairs in the heart of foot traffic even though others were open, but I was too hungry to do anything. Our server was friendly and hardworking-5/5. Good cocktail menu- Piattini lemonade was 5/5, super refreshing but not too sweet. Overall the food was extremely average. We got the Caesar salad, garlic bread, rigatoni alla vodka, and lobster ravioli. Nothing stood out but nothing was bad, again just average. We stopped by for dinner and had an incredible experience from start to finish. we tried the Hugo Alla Guava, which had a wonderfully subtle and tasty guava flavor, along with the Passion For Mojito Mocktail--both were fantastic and refreshing accompaniments to the meal.  For food, we ordered the Burrata Classico Pizza and the Frutti Di Mare, and both were outstanding. The pizza was a total standout--extremely light, perfectly balanced, and not overloaded with heavy cheese. Normally I can never finish an entire pizza on my own, but this was so well-crafted and light to eat that finishing it was easy.  We also got the frutti di mare and asked for it not to be spicy, and the kitchen nailed it. We ordered the pesto gnocchi, which was light and creamy with chunks of tomatoes. Very good. We also had the fig pizza, which was also very good. Crisp , thin crust, and toppings that worked well together. But as a second-gen Italian American, the real test eas going to be the marinara sauce. So I ordered the spaghetti. I'm here to tell you it was excellent! Made from scratch with plum tomatoes simmered in garlic, it was so good I finished a hearty-sized portion! Simple, basic, spot on Italian. I'm always surprised at how these newbury st establishments are much bigger and spruced up inside than what meets the eye from outside. The walls have these nice murals/paintings that cover the whole wall space. Food was delicioussss. The eggplant appetizer was a crowd pleaser and the tiramisu was outstanding. My seafood pasta was loaded up with mussels, salmon, octopus, and shrimp and a good portion. All the drinks were on point - would recommend the espresso and pistachio martini. read more

I ordered a wine flight, and they gave me these adorable little informational cards detailing the region and tasting notes for every unique bottle I tried. It was such a cute, elevated touch that made the experience feel special! The food came out in a very timely fashion, but unfortunately, it was the weak point of the visit. I started with the bruschetta, hoping for the best, but it was incredibly under-seasoned. The cherry tomatoes were left whole, which meant I was chewing on tomato skins for far too long, and the juices immediately made the middle of the toast completely soggy. Next came the pasta. I truly appreciated that the kitchen can customize anything you want even vegan style. On the plus side, the food arrives piping hot, and the portion size was wonderful! However, just like the appetizer, it was seriously lacking flavor. I had to add as much salt and pepper as I possibly could just to make it worth my while. Ultimately, the overall experience was the best part of the deal--from the gorgeous views to the wonderful wine flight and the stellar service. Visited here on a warm night recently. I used to always come here back when I was a student at NEU. Food and vibes are always so cozy and inviting here. Great spot for a date. The only thing I feel like can be improved is service level. You can easily be neglected and not have a single waiter walk past you for 15+ mins (and I've been here 10+ times). It's also not very clear where you go to get seated. You'd think you walk through the front entrance to the desk, but you actually have to look for a small table on the sidewalk and wait for someone to get to the table to seat you. read more

I came solo for dinner one night back in June. It looked like there were some tables free outside, but was told that they'd only be able to sit me inside. That was fine, though I got tucked away in a corner so it took a few minutes for people to recognize that there was someone sitting there that needed water, drinks, etc. Once they saw me though, my service overall was pretty good. I ended up with a small roasted pear and pomegranate salad and the melanzana affumicate (crispy eggplant). Both were really tasty. Hands down the best Italian restaurant I've been to. The ambience in this restaurant is just so refreshing especially after a long day of shopping and walking around Newbury Street. We came here hungry and everything on the menu looked so good, but we decided to get multiple items so that we can share and try out different foods. The meatballs were so delicious and it was my favorite dish. You can't go wrong with an arugula salad as a light starter, and all the toppings were just the perfect addition. The pizza was super cheesy and flavorful, and we were able to do a fun and super long cheese pull when we grabbed our slice. I came here with a friend to try out some Italian food in Newbury St. All the serving portions are a little smaller making it great for sharing. We got the black truffle ravioli, melanzane affumicate and for dessert we got the warm chocolate torta. The ravioli and eggplant dish were amazing but my favorite was the black truffle ravioli. Piattini's is an Italian restaurant on Newbury St. that's known for its small plates and great pasta. It's semi-walkable from the Boston Public Garden/Boston Commons and the Boston Public Library. It's also close to the Copley Green Line Station. There's outdoor seating and indoor seating, which usually fills up on the weekends. Indoors is a bit crowded and dark but it has a nice date vibe to it. The servers were really nice & brought us bread/water quickly even though it was busy. The bread was delicious but my favorite thing on the table was the rigatoni alla vodka. Before adding the red chili flakes, the pasta was a great balance creamy and tangy. Once the spices were added, it elevated the dish to the next level. I originally thought that the portion size was small for the price, but it was surprisingly filling. This pasta has been added to my top 3 favorites. The pizza was good - it tasted like an average Margherita pizza. The ratio of cheese to sauce to crust was nice and the flavor was the right amount of tomatoe-y. Both dishes were great for sharing. I'd definitely recommend coming here while you're visiting Boston for a classy and hearty meal after strolling Newbury St! read more

Two of us shared the Boscaiola which was rich but because it is vegetable based, filling but light. I really enjoyed the creamy mushroom flavor and the peas were a sweet addition. We also shared the Burrata Raviola. I am not very familiar with burrata, but is like a creamier version of mozzarella cheese. There is just the right amount of truffle flavor in the dish.
