The red fox is a restaurant that has speakeasy vibes. We were sat in the back area away from the bar which was a bit more intimate which is my preference. The decor and ambiance of the place is interesting and vibey. Drinks were great, but on the pricier side. Food was also good and the portions are heftyyy. Overall it was a great experience and I'd go back. The only area where that fell just a bit short was the overall taste of the food, it didn't blow me away, but again, good. Oh and lastly service was pretty good, no complaints.

Great food and vibes. There was a small issue last time and the manager took care of things immediately.

The Red Fox is such a vibe. It feels like eating in your Italian grandma's basement (in the best way). Cozy, old school, and charming. Service was amazing and super friendly. We ordered the arancini, bolognese, and rigatoni which were all so good, and the rigatoni had a little spice to it. Classic Italian comfort food done right. Would definitely go back.

We only had drinks, but the experience was lovely. We popped in for a quick round, and the hosted was gracious enough to let us sit for one round of drinks before a reservation came in. This is unheard of at so many other speakeasies in the city - normally you're turned away without a second thought! The drinks we got were the Alpine Spritzes and they were so delicious - a perfect take on a spritz for winter. The ambience is sultry and romantic, perfect for a GNO, romantic date night, or even an elevated family outing! Will definitely come back for dinner service soon.

I came for my birthday and greatly enjoyed the ambiance and service as well as the small menu. I took a risk and got the aglio e pepe martini (garlic, parm, and black pepper) and was pleasantly surprised. The garlic flavor cut some of the burn from the alcohol and it paired nicely with my arancini and rigatoni alla vodka. I do have to say that the vodka pasta was pretty spicy which distracted me from the flavor but my tolerance is low. I loved my experience here and will be returning to try more of the menu

Stepping down into The Red Fox, nestled discreetly beneath the streets of Boston's North End, feels like descending into a different era. This is not just a bar; it's a masterpiece of atmosphere and design that perfectly blends classic speakeasy swagger with Italian charm. The first thing that commands your attention is the sheer gorgeousness of the interior (Yes, I am a male writing this review), dominated, as the name suggests, by the rich, passionate hue of red. From the plush velvet banquettes to the carefully selected lighting fixtures, the color red bathes the room in an intimate, seductive glow. Every detail shows meticulous care: the upholstered bar seats are not merely functional but luxurious, and the deeply cushioned booths offer private pockets of romance and conversation, designed for lingering (although I don't recommend it. I mean, they need to turn table!! ). The overall vibe is nothing short of amazingly comfortable yet distinctly swanky--it's the kind of place where you feel instantly sophisticated but utterly relaxed. This high standard of excellence extends beautifully to the culinary offerings. While The Red Fox specializes in drinks, the Italian cuisine is pulled off perfectly. We sampled a few of the appetizers, and they were what the three of us needed before our dinner, small, flavorful portions that act as the ideal complement to the cocktails without overwhelming. This is well-executed food that respects its North End roots. Finally, the experience was sealed by the magnificent staff and the quality of the bar program. The curated drink menu is focused and clever, offering complex spins on classics and unique signatures that truly hit the spot. More impressively, the staff was everywhere, attentive without being intrusive and totally accommodating to every request. I think The Red Fox is a must-visit destination, a subterranean gem that delivers, comfort, and culinary finesse in equal measure. Oh.. And I want the person's name that made those booths and where they got the bar seats!

I was trying to find the extra dirty cocktail club which is behind this place. I sat at the bar and grabbed a drink called Scottish lavender which was a scotch mezcal sip drink. It was very tasty. I didn't have a reservation and was able to seat at the bar immediately. I did come on a Friday night and chatted with the bartender who gave some recommendations of other places to check out in the city. I also got the tiramisu which is definitely for two people but one person if you don't have much before. It came quickly and the service was very personable. For a place I stumbled upon, I would definitely come back again for dinner.

Best espresso martini of my life! Ambience is great for a girls night out or date night. Booths are cozy.

This was my first time at The Red Fox. Good luck finding it. The ambiance of this establishment was amazing. I had bar reservations. The bartender was friendly and made the best drinks on and off of the menu. The pistachio martini was delicious; the martini is offered with or without a scoop of pistachio gelato. We asked the bartender to make a pretty tequila cocktail and she delivered. The lobster ravioli was so good in the butter sauce. I'm not a fan of risotto, however this was best risotto I've had in a long time. I will definitely return to The Red Fox!

Loved the whole vibe - the ambiance was great. Our service was very attentive. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing. I would love nothing more than to come back and sit at the bar with their martinis and pasta. We had the red fox parm. Not a big parm person but it was cooked perfectly. The pasta was delicious. The Cesar salad was a huge hit. The pepper and parm martini was very savory but delicious

Made a reservation in advance but didn't have trouble getting in! Seems still new and building up hype/following. Super cute bar and restaurant speakeasy in Boston North End Italian area. You go downstairs and it's like walking into a dimly lit parlor - wood paneled, red fabrics and simple fixtures. Drinks were good and food was great! We split two pastas to try. Smaller menu but felt still had a lot of options. The pasta was a decent serving so good for sharing a few and was PERFECTLY cooked. Almost too Al dente if that's even possible? The sauce to pasta ratio was fabulous and loved both. Service was just fine - food/drinks came fast. Would absolutely come again!

The Red Fox is a super cool speakeasy (in an unassuming building) with great food, cocktails, & service. We had the special Melon Margarita cocktail, which was so light and flavorful. Highly suggest if it's still on the menu. To eat we had the Carpaccio, Orecchiette and Malloreddus pastas and Tiramisu to finish. The carpaccio and tiramisu were both amazing. The pastas were quite good, but didn't wow us. They also give you table bread with olives and oil to dip, which was really good! I would certainly go back and try a few more dishes. Tip: While the website does show a well lit bar on the homepage, you may be sitting in a dimly lit backroom. This is not a deal breaker by any means, we just didn't expect it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, as I tend to be wary of aesthetic places trending on TikTok. If you're a savory over sweet cocktail person, I could not recommend their Aglio E Pepe enough!

For two straight years, my top-tier chum who…read moreliterally went to the school of hospitality and I mistakenly thought we could just wing it in the North End prior to Celtics games on the weekends and find a decent place to eat without a reservation. We were burned two times (not egregiously, but where we had to go to mediocre establishments that had seating availability for a reason), but no more. Parla isn't an off-the-charts Italian restaurant, but it was above average and the cocktail situation is excellent. I stumbled across Parla last year when we were looking for dining options, but alas, not in time to secure a reservation. The cocktail menu looked intriguing (particularly their ye olde shrub cocktail mix and match section) and the location seemed convenient. This time around we made dinner reservations about two months in advance, which I'd pretty much recommend for anything in this neighborhood if you have the ability. We came by this past Sunday before the Celtics/Timberwolves (there were multiple patrons wearing jerseys, including us) around 5pm in the rain. The entrance is a little nondescript but ultimately easy enough to spot. It's a pretty intimate interior with limited seating (maybe 10 tables or so?) and only four bar stools at the bar in the back. We were seated by the front window which was nice but again, offered at that time merely an excellent view of early spring weather. The food we had was good, and yet not the selling point - sort of a compliment, sort of not. We split the seared octopus app, which was interesting but ultimately not my favorite way to eat that particular seafood; I'm used to it grilled. We were both a little surprised to see it in salad form and had to refer back to the menu, which did mention one of the other ingredients as arugula (a fair clue). I would recommend they put the word "salad" in the official name of the app though; my guess is we probably opt for something else if we had that additional information. That said, it was fine - I wasn't crazy about the pairing of octopus and balsamic vinegar/arugula, which to me and my chum dominated the palate over the octopus, which should totally be the star of the dish. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm, which was very good - decent portion for sure and I almost finished it despite eating two other meals fairly recently. Interestingly, the best part is the sauce - it's a sweeter sauce that's thick but not chunky. Really good, and something I'd get again in a pinch. The cocktails are really something. For me, I stumbled a little out of the gate with the shrub section, opting for a mule with strawberry peppercorn. It wasn't bad but for my palate, it felt off - that's a drink I should be getting in July, not a nippy/rainy March evening. On me completely. My chum got the margarita equivalent and liked it enough to order it two more times. But I shifted to a very cool gimmick they had, which I believe was called Dungeon Master (an homage to D&D?), where you rolled a 20-sided die and had to pick whatever cocktail was associated with the specific number, no questions asked. My chum gets a little naughty with gin so couldn't risk it and had to just watch mournfully on the other side of the table as I played twice. Both of my mystery cocktails had gin in it, so...probably the right decision, at least from my perspective. I don't want to provide spoilers and damage the integrity of the game, but the nuanced layers to each drink are exactly why I love mixology/a good cocktail - the only kind of science I truly get behind. (I also liked learning about clouds in 5th grade). Very cool feature and something I'd love to make an annual tradition. Our waitress was great. She initially seemed a little eccentric/ditzy (in a good way), but it was clear that that was a mirage - she was VERY observant and at the end of the meal knew my first name for my specific credit card because earlier she'd noticed my head tilt when someone at another table used it. Really impressive stuff and a huge asset for the restaurant. She also was super knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails specifically, and it was fun to guess what was in each of my mystery beverages with her after I took a few experimental nips. Very cool, very unique establishment. Glad to finally find a selling point for the North End.
