Serafina is a very good upscale casual Italian restaurant. Nobody is going to confuse it with Boston's elite Italian dining rooms, and that's okay. The mistake people make is rating restaurants instead of rating dishes. Great dishes can come from anywhere. The black truffle burrata ravioli is proof. Truffles often get an unfair reputation because so many restaurants use them as a marketing tool. They put "truffle" on the menu for the prestige and the higher price, but then use so little that you barely notice it's there. Too often, you're left wondering what all the fuss was about. Not here. The moment this dish hits the table, the aroma of real black truffle rises from the plate. Every bite delivers that unmistakable earthy, silky richness that makes truffles one of the world's great luxury ingredients. I would love to come back and eat outside but I wouldn't come to eat inside, less I decide to welcome overstimulation. I got the penne alla vodka (substituted rigatoni, though, since it's the superior pasta shape) and it was quite delicious! Portion was about average-- filling, but not nearly enough to have leftovers (which I do love at a pasta place). Every guest enjoyed their drinks: kiss of Eden was our favorite, espresso martini is a little bitter. The food here was delicious! The bread that came to the table was moist and melted in my mouth. I came here with my husband and two other friends after seeing the Tall Ships in this area (until Wednesday) and we all had great food meals. We shared a brushetta and calamari that was sweet and cooked very well. We each enjoyed our entrees and took some home to enjoy later too. Our waiter was serving many tables around us but he made sure we had everything we needed from the drinks to helping with questions we had about the foods we wanted to order. He even made sure that our meals were to our liking as well after the meals arrived. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable and they made sure we did not have to wait long since our arrival time (which we were there a little early) for our reservation time was not yet ready. It's a beautiful atmosphere me and my friends sat at the bar, we got there before the rush, so it wasn't too busy, but it was also hard to get our orders going even for drinks. They're sparkling water is probably one of the best I've had and they're mimosas are to die for me and my friends split the carbonara which was really good. Everything was fantastic. We had the private dining area for 18 people. The staff was very attentive and took our drink order straight away. Not long after they brought over all of our appetizers. The menu was quite extensive, lots of great options to choose from. The lobster ravioli was very good. You can also add extra lobster on top, which I did. Huge chunks of lobster. Very filling. We also enjoyed a round of after dinner drinks. Staff was extremely polite and attentive. I'll have to check out the Serafina closer to my house, because my experience here was 10/10! My main dish, the bolognese, was decent but nothing to rave about. It definitely needed more sauce. For the price point, I expected better. I dine out often and spend well, so I noticed right away that even something as simple as the water felt overpriced, a small that I would usually pay the same for a large elsewhere. Service was decent, but I was a little annoyed that the server did not write down who ordered what. Instead, food came out with the staff announcing and guessing at the table. Stopped in for a cocktail and the staff blew me away with their service. We sat next to a couple of locals and they were talking about one of their favorite drinks they have had from Serafina. The bartenders made that drink for us, even though it was not currently listed on the menu. And let me say - it was absolutely delicious! This is the perfect spot for date night, grabbing drinks with the girls, or starting/ending the night. It offers high class vibes, that has enough going on to avoid any awkward silences, but not so loud you can't hear the person sitting next to you. The restaurant also closes at midnight, so no fear of staying later than you'd originally plan. I also liked the twist with the added olives. The ambience of this place is beautiful - the decor is pretty and the vibe feels very comforting and casual while also chic. We always eat at the bar because we love to watch the Sox as we eat the best gluten free pizza in Boston. I have spent a small fortune on their spicy margs and I'm obsessed with the buttery, rich, garlic drenched alfredo that isn't on the menu but definitely on the POS ipad. The bar staff is incredible and even when there are tables available, we still opt for the bar. If you want a MCM spot with the warm lighting, delicious pasta, and cocktails made from local beloved bartenders, Serafina is the spot. The only tip I would give is to pace yourself because the food is legitimately rich. We came here for a 10-15 person team dinner while at a conference and it was perfect. They accommodated food allergies and had vegetarian options. I had the chicken Milanese which was incredible. Nothing was bad about the service, but nothing stood out. Unfortunately, I have to say the same about the food. I however am someone with celiac disease and I found the brunch menu very very limited. The staff was so kind and did point out 2 options I could have for breakfast. They make gluten free pizza and pasta here but I was here for brunch and was really hoping to be able to have one of the eggs Benedict. But they don't have any gluten free bread. The hash browns are also not celiac safe as they're fried in a shared fryer. If there were just some gluten free options like pancakes, avocado toast, a breakfast hash etc, it would be amazing. We opted for couple drinks, the pizzas was a must since they have the open oven right there in the kitchen that you can see. I personally opted for the carbonara pasta with grilled chicken, the bowl came out and may have looked small but it was in fact mighty, i was so full after finishing it. The right al dente pasta, sauce was creamy and salty with the bacon bits and chicken was NOT dry! Yippee! The pizza i tried was the sausage based one, it's not spicy but it had good flavor, good crust and it was a lighter (not heavy feeling after eating pizza). Good friends good convos, plenty of space. Once seated service was prompt and friendly, not once did we wait too long. We started with the Burrata Tomato e Prosciutto and a side of Focaccia di Sofia. The tomatoes and mozzarella were fresh and flavorful, and the focaccia struck the perfect balance of fluffy and salty which complimented the oil and burrata. I am a Serafina Back Bay regular, but this was my first time in the Seaport location. The location is not very convenient-- no parking and far from public transportation, but the food makes the trek worth it. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, my favorite at Italian restaurants, and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade sauce was to die for, and the cheese was generous on the chicken, it was so good. The pasta was good but slightly (subjectively) overcooked, it would have been perfect Al Dente. Overall, 5/5 stars for food, though. I'll be back! read more

A wonderful evening for my daughter's16th birthday. She was at a table for 8 in a semi-private space, and my husband and I were at another table nearby. Both tables had Jhoan as our waiter and he was the best! Great service, even came and got us when they were bringing a birthday dessert to my daughter so we could join in. We had tons of food as we all got apps and entrees and food was served at a good pace and waiter always made sure the drinks were flowing. I had a mimosa and a mocktail (I'm a lightweight) and both were fantastic. Apps were perfect, the whipped ricotta with fig was such a perfect starter, it's shareable and had a generous amount of dip. The short rib arancini was perfectly fried, super savory, I could have eaten them all. We got the truffle pizza to share and it was incredible, somehow not too rich despite the generous truffle amount l. I had the tiramisu French toast, it tasted just like the dessert and is served with melted chocolate and maple syrup, the syrup honestly wasn't even necessary as the dish was not dry at all and already was pretty sweet.
