I just have no words for how beautiful and romantic this restaurant is. It sits on a peninsula. Which is viewed from both side sides, I spotted the beautiful café lights from a block away and knew we just had to go there. We stepped inside and made reservations for the next evening. This is a very popular restaurant so I really highly recommend you make reservations. It's worth it. The food is so delicious. The pasta is cooked perfectly. The wine list is amazing. It's just dripping in romance this restaurant. They have a gorgeous indoor restaurant and bar as well as a beautiful candle lit patio. We had the best evening. Let me tell you about a horrible experience. Food took FOREVER and when it came it was dish water and mud, no personable customer service. handicap accessible only inside the walking entrance FYI. I called ahead to confirm that it was going to meet our needs and it did not. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Dropped in on a busy night and was able to snag a couple seats at the bar. The bar tender was very nice and attentive, checked in on us multiple times. This place is super cute also, the lights were low and moody and I loved it. We had one of there cheese and bread apps but the real reason I wanted to come here was for the drinks. The tiramisu martini was delicious, was more of a whipped cream on top vs mascarpone but I'm not complaining! Would love to go back the next time we're in Boston read more

Lovely weekend brunch experience at Prima! I appreciated that we could walk in, and the outdoor seating space is so nice and peaceful. A highlight was the blueberry breakfast roll, and their eggs Benedict and meatball sub were excellent as well. Generous portion size, enough to have some leftover to take home, and the latte was also well done! Would love to come back again to their try pastas read more

Prima is a great choice for date night in Charlestown. The inside has a super romantic and fun vibe with a lot of dining space and lively bar area. We started off with the bread plate which included delicious fresh bread and ricotta. For our main courses, we got the tuna steak and spaghetti, which had tuna tartare. The dishes were really yummy, with decent sized portions. I was really surprised with how unique and flavorful the spaghetti dish was! We ended the meal with a scoop of pistachio gelato. Overall, I enjoyed our experience at Prima, but it's definitely on the pricier side. Also make a reservation because it can get really busy. Service can also be a bit slow because of how busy it is which is totally understandable! We appreciated how hard working and kind the staff was given how many people were in the restaurant. read more

Consistently good. My favorite drink is the Scorsese. 11/10 The wait staff is super nice and the vibe is always great inside. Good date spot. The portions are good and the caesar salad never misses. Same with the filet. It's massive. They have plenty of gluten free options (pasta etc.) read more

The food and service were great. Also really enjoyed the interior and overall ambience. It was spacious but busy. Lively, but not too loud. For tourists going for a historical trip and walking the Freedom Trail, this is a great dinner option if you're ending the day at the USS Constitution or Bunker Hill. It IS a 40-45 min walk back to Boston Common, so it may require a rideshare back to the hotel if the weather isn't great. Overall, a really good experience. read more

Our daughter lives in the area and she's been wanting to try this place, so here we are! Parking on the weekend is challenging, but we found a spot on our second try. We came for Brunch, so come mimis and bellinis were in order. The Fusilli Alla Pesto ($26) was so good! I don't recall what everyone else got, but we all agreed that we will be back to try dinner! read more

Prima is a must! Excellent food, service and drinks. It's a fun, lively restaurant but is perfect for any occasion - date, girls night, parents, a good bar hang, large groups, etc. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. We ordered a bit of everything and had no misses. I also really appreciated our server letting us know that the Caesar was large and she could half portion that for us. It's a nice option when restaurants offer it. read more

Absolutely loved my first dinner experience at Prima- it was relatively easy to get a reservation for a Monday night, just know that Mondays the menu is gluten free! But I wouldn't have known if you didn't say, because everything was still spectacular. Especially loved the veal chop, chicken parm, and rigatoni alla vodka- the ambience inside the restaurant is so cozy and everything is very fairly priced. Such a cute spot for a date night, girls night, or for celebrations! Will absolutely be back. Food: 4.5/5 Price: 4.5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 4.5/5 read more

Got the half Caesar (it's huge!!) and rigatoni the first time I visited. They were both really good. The decor is super vibey and elegant. Sat at the back bar because the front one was insane/service was slow. I later ordered the same things on uber eats and felt like the pasta tasted super off/different. It was maybe oddly tart? There was a lot of rosemary and the chili crisp seemed different. Ended up not feeling good/having upset stomach next day so have been scared to order again :( read more

The BACK ROOM is the best spot in the house. They made it seem like we'd be unhappy about it since we didn't have a reservation. It was the most beautiful spot in the whole place! The front was crowded and so loud. The back was quiet, you could actually talk, hear the music, etc. As someone who has to eat gluten free their offerings are great. One thing I want to point out is that their gluten free menu online shows EXACTLY the same items as the regular menu, this is NOT true. Please call ahead for clarity so you won't be disappointed. My meal was amazing from start to finish but yes, I was sad I couldn't have some things that I thought I could. Overall great experience! read more

I love this restaurant part because they cater to GF and also because the food is good the atmosphere nice. I had a party of 4 for new years and needed to add 2 more the day before, they were able to accommodate and put us in a beautiful side room. The bonus we could actually hear each other and sat and enjoyed food and wine for 3 hrs. The staff were friendly and the food great. I highly recommend Prima! read more

I've been to Prima previously and it's always very lovely. The spicy pici pasta dish is my favorite, always so flavorful. However, the portion was definitely smaller than the previous orders of it I've had. Also I had to wait almost an hour even though the restaurant had less than 5 tables filled during lunch. The scallop dish was tasty but ultimately left a bit to be desired as the the raw scallop was very room temperature almost warm in an unsettling way and the butter in the dish started to solidify quickly which was a weird texture. All the flavors were still very complimentary. My server was extremely attentive and kind! I will definitely return but there was just a few quality issues. read more

Prima is my new favorite restaurant. The decor is absolutely amazing. This makes for an amazing date night or an amazing celebratory night. I hope I get taken here for my birthday. I had the field job melanie's, which was excellent and a true value for the price. My fiancé had the lobster which she loved. I had a cardamom and ghost pepper to kill a drink, which is a combination. You don't see often, in fact, I've never seen it. It was amazing. The staff gave us a gratis pistachio gelato served in what appeared to be a hollowed out cinnamon roll and it was fantastic! I can't recommend this enough. I can't wait to go back. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars mainly because of how accommodating they are. You rarely see gluten free options on an Italian menu but you could have any pasta as gluten free! I wanted to try them all. It's always really busy so definitely need a reservation or to get there early enough for a spot at the bar. It's a pretty big restaurant, great location in Charlestown. Service was great as well. Prices are reasonable for Italian restaurants (about $28 for pasta). read more

Great ambiance and nice busy vibe. If only the food were good! Took my wife here for her birthday and was a bit surprised by how lackluster most of the dishes were. Eggplant Parmesan was decent but lacked a good red sauce (a core part of the dish!) Ribeye was well-done despite being ordered medium rare. Was also surprisingly fatty and gristly, really not a great cut. Saved by a good steak sauce, but at a steakhouse, the steak should shine on its own. Sweet potato agnolotti was supposedly in a brown butter Marsala sauce but neither of those flavors were detectable AT ALL. Dish was essentially tasteless. Truffle fries were cut too big, too tasteless and potato-y, and had no detectable trace of truffle. Grilled octopus appetizer was good, with a nice puttanesca. Desserts and drinks were pretty good but couldn't save the mediocre food. I will never be back for a meal. Late night drinks, maybe. read more

LOVED LOVED THIS PLACE! Two starving tourists trying to visit the USS Constitution run into this delectable restaurant. That is how every adventure should start when you are talking about Prima! Wandering in off the street into a wonderful vibe hidden gem was amazing. We were extremely tired and hungry and I think anything would have tasted amazing at that point, but Prima took it to the next level. We arrived in-between lunch and dinner and did not want to wait until the dinner menu came out, so ordered off of the afternoon/always available type menu. It was a Saturday afternoon and this place was filled with conversation and felt like a wonderful local hangout that was more upscale. We were able to get wonderful drinks, including an afternoon aperol spritz (felt like I was back in Italy) and then tried the food. The food was exceptional. The staff were preparing for the dinner rush, so it was a little longer than normal I am sure for service. But, once our orders were in, it was a wonderful pace. Food: Tried the meatballs, cheese pizza, garlic bread, and a seafood salad that my hubby loved! PROS: Ambience and venue are wonderful Great bar with many seats Lovely outside area Great choices on food CONS: Parking read more

I went to Prima on Thursday at 6:00pm for dinner with a friend. We had a reservation and I was there almost 20 minutes early but they were so accommodating and I was seated immediately! We sat in the back dining room, the restaurant is way bigger than I expected! The space is cozy while still remaining fancy. Noise level was ideal, not too loud or too quiet. We started with the meatballs, the house made mozzarella and a half portion of the snap pea salad. For mains, a half order of Spicy Pici and a half order of the Sweet Potato Agnolotti. It isn't written on the menu but they offer half portions of all 3 salads and most of their pasta. Service was great! They offered to take my coat and brought it back after we paid. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and had great recommendations. No one was hovering but was still very attentive. We spent less than $100 each for 1 glass of wine and more than enough food! Quick notes: - Skip the mozzarella - Meatballs were amazing - Spicy Pici was incredible - If you want to share, ask about half orders of pasta an salad - A great spot for drinks at the bar, a date, larger group dinner, or anything in between. read more

As someone with celiac I absolutely love the dedicated gluten free night here. You would never know any of it was made gluten free, it's absolutely delicious. The focaccia bread is a must, idk how they get it so dense and squishy but it's the best with their ricotta. The Caesar salad is my top salad in life, you can never get rid of this salad, it will impact me so much lol. Truly the most delicious salad, I love how all the toppings are shaved so tiny! The arancini is amazing and the sauce with it really throws it over, just such a good appetizer. I had the spicy chicken entree. I was too full for dessert but the gluten free chocolate cake, is my actual favorite cake ever. I've never had a better cake anywhere else! Thank you for the gluten free options read more

To start, the ambiance and service at Prima are both fantastic. Our waitress was so sweet and very efficient. The decor is gorgeous and it was a very warm inviting atmosphere. Our only gripe was how loud it was as the tables against the wall next to the bar. It was honestly hard to hear each other talk over the bar guests practically screaming. We started with the Pumpkin Arancini and a half order of the Sweet Potato Agnolotti. The arancini were super delicious but we didn't pick up any pumpkin flavor. The agnolotti was absolutely fantastic. We were wishing we got a full order! For our mains, we had chicken milanese and filet mignon. The filet was ordered medium rare but came out more on the rare side. The chicken was nicely cooked and crispy but the baby kale and pesto kind of overpowered the dish. For dessert we had the Spiced Apple Blueberry Crostata. It was absolutely outstanding. 10/10! Overall I probably wouldn't return to Prima but I still enjoyed my experience and I'm glad I crossed it off my list! read more

Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion! We were sat in back room ( the rose room ) and it was just so beautiful, it made the experience that much better. The service was fast and the food was excellent. The caesar salad is a must if you visit Prima, the portion is pretty large so good to share. We ordered the mashed potatoes, tomahawk, and truffle fries and it was all wonderful. I would say the fries were our least favorite but the steak and mashed potatoes were 10/10. read more

Prima is a great place to eat with a wonderful atmosphere. The service was excellent whenever I needed something, the staff was attentive and quick to help. The food itself was unique, but for the price, I expected more. I ordered the filet mignon, and unfortunately it came out overcooked and lacking flavor. For a $40 entrée, I would have expected it to be cooked properly and have a richer taste. The fries were also served cold. Despite these issues, I can see the potential in the food and believe the experience would have been much better if those problems had not occurred. Overall, the ambience and service were outstanding, but the food quality did not quite match the price. read more

Decor and ambiance are a vibe, definitely date night worthy. If you can, book a table in the back bar and ask to see the Park Room, both stunning. Service is wonderful. But a restaurant cannot live off of instagram worthy photo opts and good service alone. The food was underwhelming. It was all beautiful but the flavor was not there. The fried mozzarella and caviar was fine but needed salt and something bright/tart to set it off. Lack of salt was a theme throughout all the dishes I tried. The filet mignon was beautifully cooked, needed salt. Mashed potatoes were good, we really enjoyed the addition of sage. The fries were soggy and an awkward thickness, not crispy, needed salt and weirdly had what tasted like fried preserved lemon. And boy do they like their lemon and preserved lemons here! The chicken piccata though again lacking salt was overpowered with an overkill of preserved lemon bits which made the dish bitter and unenjoyable. Not impressed by the house made pasta. The pizza was fine, not something I would go back for. The best thing I ate was the torta gialla. We ordered the dessert trio but the torta was the only dessert worth ordering in my opinion. Cake was moist, chocolate fudge was perfect and the crumble added great texture and complementary flavor. The strawberry tiramisu was very muted and the chocolate mousse was a miss for me. It's dark chocolate and very rich, the olive oil is unnecessary here and only made the mouth greasy. Portions are fine. Not sure we will be back, but I would be open to giving them another try. read more

Went to prima for my birthday. Got a reservation a bit late so sat at the high tops. The place had a nice aesthetic and really didn't get overly busy, though all tables were sat at and had reservations. The music choice was nice and staff were very friendly. We had an excellent waiter who came to check on us often. Our food took a bit to come out, but it was well worth it. We started with a flatbread which was very delicious and well made. My partner had a chicken parm which was huge, which came with a side of red sauce pasta which was very good and home made. I ordered a 12 oz filet with a side of mashed potatoes. Both were incredible. I am a huge fan of the rosemary encrusted filet which itself didn't really need the side of sauce i got with it. The mashed potatoes were super rich, flavorful, and buttery. Probably the best ive had since being here in the boston area! For dessert we got a chocolate cake and pumpkin chocolate cake thing. Both delicious and the one I got even had gold fake on it. Very nice. Prices were more on the expensive side, but the cost to food ratio in my opinion is really good for what you get. We had leftovers for the next day and they were still great. I highly recommend this place and will 100% be back. It would be a nice dinner during the week. Easy to snag a seat at the bar if you don't reserve. read more

Very cute restaurant in Charlestown. We were visiting Boston and decided to journey over and try this place out. I got a glass of Chardonnay and my boyfriend got an Allagash. Service was attentive and quick. We split the 12 oz filet and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, could basically cut it with a butter knife. It comes with a lemon and side of pesto which the pesto was perfect. We also did the chicken parm with vodka sauce and side of pasta with vodka sauce. Sauce was slightly spicy and delicious. Chicken was juicy but still maintained a good crisp. Two drinks and two entrees for a total of 140$ with tip. A little pricy but worth the ambiance, service and food. A cute little date night spot. We would return on our next visit to Boston! read more

Such a lovely restaurant. I walked in and truly felt like I wasn't in Massachusetts. The ambiance was great, the restaurant felt intimate but spacious. The service was phenomenal. I wish I could remember our servers name because he was so kind, personable, and really fun. The food: WOW. The garlic bread was phenomenal. I wanted to eat the whole plate and more! Would definitely order again. The meat and cheese board was really great too. It was bigger than we thought. My favorite was the truffle cheese and the homemade whipped salted ricotta. The snap pea salad was delicious too. The dressing was limey and so fresh, I brought the leftovers home and it stayed fresh for another day! After having these amazing Antipasti's, the pasta wasn't the best. It was a little bland and not as flavor filled as the antipasti dishes. read more

I've been to Prima 3-4 times and each time is been great! What we've eaten recently: - Bread Plate: Would suggest, the fresh ricotta is great - Caesar Salad: really really good caesar. Highly suggest - Snap Pea Salad: Good, if you want a salad but not the caesar. - Meatballs: Great meatballs! Can't go wrong with these. Save some bread to go with these - Rigatoni alla Vodka: Consistent, spicy and delicious. - Chicken Parmesan: Really really good! More chicken than pasta - Chicken Scarpariello: Amazing, very unique and delicious - Brandt Tomahawk: Steak was great and it fed 3+ men, but I wouldn't suggest it because other steaks on the menu are just as good. Don Melon is an excellent cocktail! The only downfall of Prima is parking can be difficult if you're looking for street parking. Paid lots are nearby though. Pro Tip: There's a speakeasy style back room (called the Rose Room) to grab drinks before or after dinner. read more

Second try here. Still not really impressed. The drinks that we got were just ok. I consider myself an old fashioned expert (of sort). It was lacking any flavor and candidly just tasted like rye on ice. The meat and cheese board is good - and the meatball appetizer is good. The marinara has a spicy side which we enjoy. The tuna crudo was rather basic, I wouldn't get it again. For our meals we got chicken parm, and veal parm. Both are oddly average. I wouldn't come back here for it again. For the price and the difficulty of getting a reservation here - there are much better restaurants for the price. I would recommend taking a 5 or so minute drive to the North End. read more
