I was excited to try this spot given all the hype surrounding it, and while the patio is undeniably cute, the overall experience fell well short of expectations. The restaurant is consistently busy, so I would recommend making a reservation in advance. I was seated in the downstairs area near the doors, which offered a nice indoor-outdoor feel. Unfortunately, the service and food quality did not justify the price. Despite ordering quite a few items, the experience felt rushed, and the bottle of wine I wanted was unavailable. My filet mignon arrived overcooked, so I sent it back, only for the replacement to arrive ice cold. To make matters worse, the server did not remove one of the steaks from the bill until I specifically asked to speak with a manager. The interaction with the manager was equally disappointing. He came across as arrogant and offered no meaningful resolution, simply handing me his business card in case I needed assistance making a future reservation. I had also mentioned that I was celebrating my engagement, but there was no acknowledgment of the occasion. Ultimately, the atmosphere and patio are appealing, but they are not enough to make up for the inconsistent food, disappointing service, and high prices. Given the lack of attention to detail and the way the situation was handled, I would not return.
The place is gorgeous and gets hoppin on the weekends! The space is huge with a more formal vibe inside with a bar and additional dining options outside, which is super trendy against the backdrop of the neighborhood. Wine selection is stellar. I was disappointed with the Nebbiolo tbh--I used to keep some awesome selections at home--but nearly fell off my chair when I tried the Montepulchiano (somm's choice btw, to accompany my dinner). Start with their garlic bread-- completely worth it. I had the rigatoni bulognese, which they adjusted to be GF and dairy free. Staff were friendly, our server was awesome.
Before Capri (and Daily Catch), I had given up on Boston Italian. I think arguably there is no restaurant in Boston that can beat the ambiance and interior of Capri coupled with its incredible food and great service. I went for a friend's birthday brunch and we were seated in their outside patio, which is gorgeous and felt like an Italian summer in the South End. The honey buns and caesar salad are perfect starters. We had their tuna tartare and octopus carpaccio as well, which was excellent and I loved the passion fruit and apple as sweet components. Chicken parm is one of the best in Boston. I also love their garganelli alla pollo as a pasta entree. The french toast is also a lovely brunch option, but I do prefer savory dishes and think that their savory items are much more outstanding. Would love to come back for dinner service and sit indoors, it looks beautiful inside!
Capri was delicious! First of all, I loved the theming on the inside! They have a big tree in the middle and a giant striped tent/canvas on the ceiling. The "Italian steakhouse" theming is present throughout. They have a beautiful bar and lots of seating. Also they have a giant outdoor space that seats separately from the restaurant. Would be great for a happy hour in the evening. We had a delicious espresso martinis with limoncello cold foam! Appetizers we did the honey buns, which was this super soft pull apart bread with honey butter. For dinner I did the vodka pasta which was super yummy. She had the surf and turf plus mashed potatoes. Evening was delicious. The potatoes were whipped, so it was super creamy. For dessert we did little scoops of gelato! Service was ever good the entire visit, I would love to come back!
Free parking is very convenient. The outside patio was very cute, warm, cozy and didn't feel like dining out in the city. The service was great -- very friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was good. The honey buns were amazing and the meatballs were fantastic. We ordered chicken and eggplant parmigiana - both were tasty. The chicken and eggplant were very crispy. Not a huge portion of pasta and the vodka sauce was kind of bland. We would go back to try different entrees. The cocktails were great as well - really good espresso martini and spritz. Overall, not sure it's worth the difficulty in snagging a reservation but a good meal.
The restaurant is so beautiful - both the inside and outside sections are stunning. We came here for lunch on the weekend and really enjoyed our experience. The service was attentive and the food came out quickly. I will say while I liked the food it didn't wow me, but still a great spot!
Beautiful place, mediocre food. The outside bar is very nice, great ambiance. Sadly, I had to eat inside as it was all full. The inside is just as nice with a beautiful bar. My bartender was great. Very attentive and my aperol spritz was delicious. Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre. I got the radicchio salad and it just wasn't that pleasing. First, it came out extremely rustic, the leaves uncut. I assume the orange was added to offset the radicchio bitterness but the oranges were not sweet at all. Just a very bland salad with terrible presentation. The cavatelli with sausage was average the broccoli was hard and not soft. It was ok, nothing special. I'll return because I always give places a second chance, maybe I didn't order the best options.
I've been wanting to try Capri since it opened, so I was excited to finally visit for my birthday. The ambiance is definitely upscale and suave, with dim lighting, long couches, and a spacious layout upstairs and downstairs. The space itself sets the expectation for a special experience. Unfortunately, the service and food did not match that expectation. My reservation noted that it was my birthday and included a seating request. I understand seating requests are not guaranteed, but no one acknowledged the birthday or explained that the requested seating wasn't available. At the front desk, there were several people standing around, including three others chatting behind the desk, yet I barely felt acknowledged. Two people were looking at a device trying to figure out my check-in and seating, followed by a slow handoff of who would actually seat me. I'm not sure what was happening, but it made the arrival feel unnecessarily cold and disorganized. The food had similar issues. The cheese board was three small pieces of cheese with grapes, cantaloupe, and crackers. For the price point, it felt very basic and lacked thoughtful presentation. I also wanted a zero-proof mocktail, but one of the three options contained Prosecco, which obviously does not make it zero-proof. The drink I ordered was not good, and I eventually left it sitting. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka and added shrimp after specifically asking if it was grilled. I was told it was, but it arrived not grilled. The waitress did take it back and have it prepared correctly, which I appreciated, but this was exactly why I asked the question beforehand. By the end of the meal, I skipped dessert because I simply wasn't impressed with the food or drinks. Capri is not inexpensive, and for that price, I expected more thoughtful food, better execution, and more attentive service. I left and continued my dining experience at Frenchie Wine Bistro down the street from Capri. In addition, I actually texted one of my group chats afterward to let them know I finally had the opportunity to visit Capri, and I also told them I have no interest in returning. I'm glad I tried it for myself, but the experience did not give me a reason to come back. One accessibility note: there is a side walkway that appears to lead toward the back and downstairs areas. I did not see an elevator, so if stairs are difficult or you need mobility accommodations, I would recommend confirming seating options ahead of time.
The honey buns taste as good as they look, maybe even better, but save room for dinner! I know it's tempting but trust me there is more good food coming. The chicken parmigiana was amazing. Usually when I order chicken parmigiana, the chicken is small and there's a lot of pasta, but that was not the case at Capri. They give you a decent sized piece of chicken, which is great, but the pasta was also amazing. I actually wish I had ordered more pasta. The Caesar salad was average. The grilled lemon on the side was a nice touch when drizzled over the salad, but I wasn't blown away by the Caesar dressing. We sat at the bar on the patio, and the waiter was super kind and hardworking. He was managing a lot of groups coming and going and still provided great service.
Came here in a Friday evening with a dinner reservation at 6:15. We were promptly seated in the outdoor patio area. It is in a lovely courtyard surrounded on three sides by the adjacent brick building. The very helpful waitstaff came by and answered questions we had about the menu. We put in our drink orders and all of the cocktails were lovely. The standout appetizers were the tuna tartare, Sicilian citrus, and the honey buns. For entrees, the chicken parmigiana was lovely and crispy, I enjoyed it much more than the same dish at their sister restaurant Prima. For dessert, the limoncello tiramisu was lovely, nothing like a tiramisu aside from the ladyfingers, but it was still delicious! Definitely recommend trying this popular restaurant out if you're looking to try a hot, new restaurant. Probably make a reservation though!
I'd rate the food a 4/5 but the service/ambiance pushes this review up to a 5 for me. Our server was SO nice and I love that you're able to order half portions of pasta here if you want to try more things. It's also a very beautiful restaurant for pictures. They're known for their honey buns appetizer, which a good way to start the meal (didn't wow me but was still yummy). Of the pastas, I liked the garganelli the best (the chicken sausage was good). Also like the vodka sauce they use. Dessert was good but again didn't wow me. I actually wasn't the biggest fan of the cocktails-- they're beautiful but flavor was a bit one dimensional. Overall though, I'd recommend as a place to go with friends!
Capri's an upscale Italian restaurant in Boston. The space is gorgeous with an elegant downstairs, vibrant upstairs, and they even have outdoor seating that I can't wait to enjoy once summer arrives. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They answered all our questions and offered great recommendations. The cocktails are creative and tasty, and the food is even better. Their pasta dishes are phenomenal, especially anything that includes the Italian sausage. We also tried the espresso martini with limoncello, which was different, but delicious. We also got steak, which was surprisingly excellent for an Italian restaurant and definitely worth ordering. Overall this was a fun experience and we will definitely come back!
Super super difficult to get a table, glad I tried it but I'm not sure I'd come back. The food options are what you'd expect for food that tastes pretty good and photographs well. But, i think it's telling that this is a steakhouse and no one orders steak but instead goes for the pasta. Food was good but nothing special across the board at standard mid range prices ($24-$36 for a main). The space was beautiful but it's always so crowded. Service is inattentive at best, passable if you're there to hang out a while I suppose. Not sure I'll be back.

The photos speak for themselves! This place is absolutely beautiful, and I loved the ambiance. The fireplace where we sat was stunning, the bar was gorgeous, and the entire upstairs space had such an elegant feel. The service was truly exceptional, the food tasted every bit as good as it looked, and the cocktails were delicious! We had an amazing time and captured some really great photos along the way. We did venture downstairs to the floral room, and while I can appreciate the creativity, I found it a bit overwhelming, and the design didn't quite flow. I much preferred the elegance and atmosphere upstairs. Overall, a fantastic experience with incredible food, top-tier service, and a beautiful setting. I would highly recommend it! read more
What a beautiful restaurant! When we walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was the Baroque/Rococo inspired cabinetry in the bar area. Gorgeous! We had a reservation, so we were escorted to our seats promptly. James, our server, greeted us once we were all seated. From the moment he introduced himself, we all knew our dining experience was going to be a great one. Our daughter told us we had to try the Honey Buns and Crunchy Caesar. The Honey Buns to me, were similar to Parker House Rolls, but with a honey glaze drizzled over them. They were delicious, nonetheless! The Crunchy Caesar was enough for our party of 8 and was gone in 60 seconds! When it came time to order, our party had a few questions, and James gave great suggestions. I had enough red sauces and pasta during our visit, so I ordered the Cioppino (Chef's local selections) with Lobster Brodo. The shrimp were succulent, the scallops had a lovely crust and were soooo tender, and the clams and mussels were plump and juicy. But the Lobster Brodo! I would have drunk the broth out of the bowl, had I not exercised great restraint! Deliziosa!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't tell you what we had for dessert because I didn't partake. But I saw 3 different selections, and one minute they were there; the next, they disappeared! James, thank you for making our dinner so enjoyable and memorable. We hope to see you on our next visit! read more

Everything we ate and drank here was delicious! We started off with the honey buns with ricotta and it was so good. I definitely recommend starting with this for any meal here! We also decided to get the Zucca salad which was the most surprising and most delightful part of the meal for me. The roasted fruits and veggies alongside the fresh kale and vinaigrette was heavenly! For the main course we split the 12oz filet with a side of brown butter pasta and a side of rigatoni with vodka sauce. They offer half portions of pasta which was perfect for trying different options and flavors! We had an early reservation which was really nice because it was crowded at all and we could see the whole venue. The dining area is beautiful. I also recommend going downstairs for another gorgeous view. read more
Wow. We had heard that Capri was good but it really amazed us still. The atmosphere is striking- two levels and a beautiful outdoor space with lots of greenery, lighting, glass.. it's a fun place to be wherever you sit. It's very popular but also quite big so room for lots of people. Our server was excellent- very well-informed and practiced with a sense of humor. The food was outstanding. We started with the much-vaunted honey buns and they didn't disappoint! YUM! As often happens they were so good that I didn't get a camera aimed at them fast enough! We had the Chicken Milanese, Chicken Piccata, and a mussels special with pasta. All were really flavorful. I had the piccata, which I almost didn't order because it's a classic dish that I can get in most Italian restaurants. Fortunately they did what I had hoped- they took a classic and nailed every aspect of it. It had lots of strong lemon, buttery sauce, light, fresh crispy chicken, perfectly cooked pasta, and nice capers and herbs to round it all out. We had to run to a movie (I know, desperate times), so didn't plan to have dessert. The menu pulled us in enough though to get a single scoop of the housemade Fior di latte honey gelato to share. It was spot-on, with a smooth texture and distinct almost liquid swirl of honey throughout. Mmmmm! Great date spot! read more

Had a great dinner at Capri Italian Steakhouse in Boston! We started with the arancini, which were crispy and delicious, then had the bolognese--rich, flavorful, and comforting. The honey buns were such a fun and tasty addition, and the Aperol Spritz was the perfect drink to go with everything. Great atmosphere, too notch service, delicious food, and a really enjoyable night overall. Always a pleasure to return to capri read more

They were completely booked for Valentine's day reservations and were not taking a wait list. Only option was the bar which was also completely full. We waited for a seat and I had a glass of moscato in the meantime. Bartender didn't give us the valentines menu at first so I had to ask, yet everyone around us had it. We started with honeybuns served with whipped ricotta and a half portion cesar salad. Honeybuns were delicious and sweet and the ricotta was just the opposite so it paired nicely. The cesar salad had a different taste but I liked it, good portion to split. My entree, the chicken parmesan, was actually underwhelming. Online the pictures looked really good but I wasn't impressed. The pasta it came with also lacked flavor. My boyfriend ordered a special off the featured menu, I liked it more than he did. It was an interesting dish but the beets threw him off. The highlight for me was the interior for sure, classic style with drapes and lamps--straight out of a movie. But the food was lackluster unfortunately and I was disappointed after seeing tons of cool reels online. read more
Finding a spot in town where the service actually matches the hype is getting harder, but this place pulls it off. Shyanne was absolutely amazing. Maybe the best server I've ever had. She gave recommendations, was friendly, and super attentive. She made the experience 10/10. After two visits now, it's clear they know what they're doing, especially if you can snag a table on the outdoor patio while the weather is nice. It's always packed and you absolutely need a reservation, but it's so worth it. What we got: Honey Buns (5/5): Served hot and crusty with a great balance of sweet and salty. The ricotta on the side is a nice addition, though the buns are good enough to stand on their own. Tuna Tartare (5/5): Creative with Calabrian chili that brings a solid hit of heat. Crunchy Caesar (4/5): A very good salad, even if it's not the absolute best version around. Wish they threw some anchovies on there. Meatballs (5/5): Outstanding texture that just falls apart, heavy on the herbs, which we loved. Rigatoni Alla Vodka (5/5): Exactly what you want out of a classic vodka sauce. Tortellini Di Mais (5/5): A new menu addition that hits the right notes for a summer dish. Big portion. Slightly sweet and perfectly cooked tortellini. Lobster spaghetti (3/5): The only real miss. Flavor was off and couldn't find any actual lobster meat, so skip this one. Chicken Milanese (5/5): Topped with an olive salad over a bed of pesto. It's simply outstanding. Acqua Pazza (5/5): Another winner The service really puts this place over the top, which is rare for a spot this busy. It makes sense for a special occasion or just a night out with a group. Bathroom review: Downstairs features a shared bathroom that's clean and stocks very nice paper towels, which is always a plus. read more
The ambiance in here is so lovely, I think it makes the perfect girls night or date night when you're in the mood to grab drinks/apps. I loved my Hugo spritz and loved the size of it as well! Worth the hype, to an extent. The service is amazing! The hosts are super nice and our waiter was super friendly and on top of it. The only thing is that since they're extremely busy, the bar gets backed up. The cocktails I had were all delicious but my favorite was the Sophia. You must get the hot honey rolls and crunchy caesar salad! The table also got tuna scottato and arancini, which I feel like we could've skipped. There was soooo much food and the arancini wasn't that great. We ordered the bolognese and tortellini. I thought they were delicious but they were more al dente than others at the table would've liked. For protein, we got the 27oz ribeye and veal milanese. The veal was amazing, while the ribeye was tough and not that flavorful. Although this was my first time here, I'd skip the steaks at Capri and order it at a proper steakhouse. There are so many other delicious dishes to try. We also found it best to do family style. read more

Amazing. Amazing. Absolutely new favorite restaurant in Boston. Anyone who has written a bad review either only went here the first month, doesn't know what they are talking about, or is holding a grudge. Honey buns were 10/10. Prosciutto and burrata was 8/10. Citrus salad was 9/10. Chicken piccata was 9.5/10. Bolognese was 9/10. Drinks were pretty fun though my least favorite part. Service was great, a little inconsistent with timing but I do give them a pass since they're newer. Gave us free champagne for my partners birthday AND brought out a dessert with a candle. Beautiful location too and honestly not expensive for everything we got. read more
Oh Capri, I really, really wanted to love you!! I'll start with the positives. Our server was fantastic! Super kind, funny, and attentive. He really made our experience so much more enjoyable. The other nice aspect of Capri is the gorgeous outdoor patio. You truly feel transported to Italy! My drink (the Sophia) was also pretty good. Unfortunately, all of the food fell incredibly flat for me. The appetizers were just fine, very unmemorable. The prosciutto & burrata was unfortunately a miss. Almost tasted like nothing, and the peaches did not add anything to the dish. The honey buns were okay. They were probably the best thing of the night. For my meal, I had the Tortellini De Mais, which was just not good at all. It had zero flavor at all, and the worst part was that it actually became SLIMY in my mouth after a couple of seconds of chewing it. How is that even possible? It just was not a good experience. It's so unfortunate because Capri is such a nice-looking restaurant, but I think they almost put too much time and attention into the optics and making it a pretty restaurant while the food is severely lacking. read more

Finally got a reservation here on a Tuesday night and it was worth the hype. This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. And the food was great! Arancini, chicken parm with vodka sauce, and the tortellini with corn were all incredible. Our waitress Maddy was the sweetest! 100% coming back to try more and get a cocktail at their beautiful outside bar. read more

This place showed up on my TikTok and I had to make a reservation three weeks in advance. The interior is beautiful, and it feels like each section of the restaurant has its own theme and different vibe. Our server was very attentive, and the service overall was great. It's a wonderful place to go for the ambience or to enjoy drinks at the bar. The Zio Ugo, was very refreshing and well-balanced. I was most excited for the honey buns, but they were underwhelming. They were lightly glazed, not very sweet, and after the first bite of glaze the rest just tasted like a normal bun. The Funghi al Forno was deliciously seasoned, but the portion was very small and left me wanting more. For pastas, we ordered the Spaghetti all'Aragosta and the Garganelli alla Pollo. Both were flavorful and had a generous amount of protein. It's also good to note that you can order half sizes of the pastas to try more dishes. The filet mignon was just okay, nothing special. Overall, I would come back for the pasta and drinks. The atmosphere was beautiful, but I wouldn't say it was worth the long reservation wait. read more
Capri has to be my favorite Italian spot in the city. The restaurant is large and the decor is stunning. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and checked on us frequently throughout the night. He recommended a lot of the dishes we got which included: honey buns (so good we ended up ordering another), crunchy Caesar, meatballs, arancini, rigatoni alla vodka, tortellini, filet mignon and brown butter mashed potatoes. Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. Out of all of it, our least favorite was the meatballs (I am picky with meatballs in general) and the brown butter mashed potatoes but other than those, would order the other items again. Also the free parking in the lot next door with validation is game-changing. Can't wait to come back soon! read more
I give the food a 4/5 overall but the review gets 5 stars because this was genuinely some of the best service I have ever had (and I am so mad at myself for not remembering our server's name). It's a beautiful interior with a ton of tables and a small patio outside. Drinks: very creative, versatile cocktail menu. We got the Cello and it was absolutely delicious. Honey buns: must get 5:5, good sized large bun that breaks into individual pieces with a sweet ricotta dip. Arancini: 4.5, so good but only comes with 3 which is annoying for the price, the pistachio pesto is to die for Meatballs: 2/5, bland and crumbled as you tried to eat them but the red sauce is good ***For entrees I was struggling between pasta choices and they let you get half orders of them so you can try more!!!*** Rigatoni alla vodka: 3.8/5, definitely some of the better vodka sauce I've had and it has a tiny kick at the end, but overall a boring dish unless you add meat (and they do have a variety of meat options) Radiatore al pesto: 5/5, such a delicious thick pesto over al dente pasta, would absolutely get this again Rigatoni alla bolognese: 4/5, the meat sauce is so delicious but I took a point off because I wish it had more meat Cavatelli con salsiccia: 10/5, THIS STOLE THE SHOW ORDER THIS, it was so flavorful I kept stealing it off my boyfriend's plate Chocolate hazelnut mousse: 5/5, passionfruit ice cream is a little bleb that comes on the side (not in the cake), the cake was to die for. It was such a moist flavorful mousse- I just wish it was bigger. I think this place is well worth the hype for its decor, service, and specific dishes. We will definitely be back! read more

Booked a month out and worth the wait! They have such a beautiful interior and patio, some of the best vibes in Boston. Came for brunch--they have a few brunch specials, but the full dinner menu is available too. Of course, we had to start with the honey buns, which lived up to the hype! So fluffy with a touch of sweetness. The waitress suggested we branch out from the typical dishes (*cough* rigatoni alla vodka *cough*), and we happily obliged. The garganelli alla pollo and chicken piccata were both divine. The garganelli had a rich, smokey flavor, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The chicken piccata was crispy and lemony in all the best ways. It came with rigatoni, which was a welcome surprise. The prices were very reasonable imo for this level of food and ambiance. Most dishes less than $30 and decent portions. Def want to return for a special occasion--if I can get a res! read more

Do they accept walk-in's?
Yes! We walked in. I’m sure it’s best to have a reservation at popular times.
