Would be great for a happy hour in the evening. We had a delicious espresso martinis with limoncello cold foam! Appetizers we did the honey buns, which was this super soft pull apart bread with honey butter. For dinner I did the vodka pasta which was super yummy. She had the surf and turf plus mashed potatoes. The space is huge with a more formal vibe inside with a bar and additional dining options outside, which is super trendy against the backdrop of the neighborhood. Wine selection is stellar. I was disappointed with the Nebbiolo tbh--I used to keep some awesome selections at home--but nearly fell off my chair when I tried the Montepulchiano (somm's choice btw, to accompany my dinner). First, I wondered why this place is considered the South End--it's basically SoWa, almost Dorchester. I actually liked the flavor of the Caprese salad because it was very different, but with that much liquid it was almost like gazpacho and pretty messy to eat. Kind of a slop, even though the flavors were good. I had to try the Chicken Milanese because I love pesto, the reviews of this dish have been amazing, and the photos look great. Unfortunately, the pesto was completely overwhelmed by the sweet-and-sour pepper mixture on top, and the chicken itself didn't have much flavor either. There were just too many things competing with each other. I'd probably recommend coming here for a drink and maybe a snack. The space is beautiful, although VERY loud. For me, though, the food matters much more than the scene, and with all the hype around the food, I was really disappointed. I don't see myself going back. I had also read so many comments about how great the service is, but maybe we had a newer server because our service definitely wasn't great. If they're open to constructive criticism: lower the music a little, but more importantly, simplify the food. Boston has some excellent Italian chefs, both in the North End and the actual South End. Great Italian food doesn't need a pile of creative additions on every dish. In Italy--and at many of the best Italian restaurants--the food is often simple, balanced and properly seasoned. Salt and pepper are okay! Let good ingredients taste like what they're supposed to taste like. And lastly, if someone is brand new, maybe don't throw them into a busy Saturday afternoon in Boston without enough support. It's not Kansas. My friends and I had been waiting a while to get a reservation here since they're pretty hard to come by. We had an early reservation for 4 people and got seated right away when we arrived. Our server was awesome!! He was super friendly, polite, and professional, and the service throughout the meal was quick and very, very attentive. We started with the Zio Ugo, Moonstruck, and Poire Spritz cocktails, plus the honey bread for the table. For mains, two of us split the chicken piccata with an extra side of noodles, and others ordered the rigatoni alla vodka with chicken cutlet. For dessert we got espresso martinis and an affogato. Overall, the food was good, just a solid Italian meal. The restaurant is beautiful, everyone working there was really nice, and the location is great. My only complaint is that there are no prices listed anywhere. They're not on the menu or online. In today's economy, prices should be listed ~somewhere~. It puts us in the uncomfortable position of needing to ask the price of something if you're trying to adhere to a budget. When the bill comes at the end, you also have to trust that they didn't make any mistakes... For example, the waiter encouraged us to order an extra side of noodles to go with the chicken piccata since we were splitting it. I thought the waiter said it was $12 for a side of noodles, but when the check came it was $20. There wasn't any way for me to double check, and it felt uncomfortable to question it. If we'd known it was $20, we probably would've skipped it because we weren't really wanting pasta that badly, hence the chicken dish. Came here in a Friday evening with a dinner reservation at 6:15. We were promptly seated in the outdoor patio area. It is in a lovely courtyard surrounded on three sides by the adjacent brick building. The very helpful waitstaff came by and answered questions we had about the menu. We put in our drink orders and all of the cocktails were lovely. The standout appetizers were the tuna tartare, Sicilian citrus, and the honey buns. For entrees, the chicken parmigiana was lovely and crispy, I enjoyed it much more than the same dish at their sister restaurant Prima. For dessert, the limoncello tiramisu was lovely, nothing like a tiramisu aside from the ladyfingers, but it was still delicious! Our server was SO nice and I love that you're able to order half portions of pasta here if you want to try more things. It's also a very beautiful restaurant for pictures. The atmosphere is striking- two levels and a beautiful outdoor space with lots of greenery, lighting, glass.. it's a fun place to be wherever you sit. We started with the much-vaunted honey buns and they didn't disappoint! YUM! As often happens they were so good that I didn't get a camera aimed at them fast enough! We had the Chicken Milanese, Chicken Piccata, and a mussels special with pasta. All were really flavorful. I had the piccata, which I almost didn't order because it's a classic dish that I can get in most Italian restaurants. Fortunately they did what I had hoped- they took a classic and nailed every aspect of it. It had lots of strong lemon, buttery sauce, light, fresh crispy chicken, perfectly cooked pasta, and nice capers and herbs to round it all out. We had to run to a movie (I know, desperate times), so didn't plan to have dessert. The menu pulled us in enough though to get a single scoop of the housemade Fior di latte honey gelato to share. The moment there's any complaints or even feedbacks, they go on the defense and get just too in-secured and come up with all possible -- any excuses a or justifications -- even when they don't make any sense! As for the Italian steaks. Go to Davio's -- the quality of the meat is way better, and it just because they are way more experienced in this niche, but because Davio's definitely care more about their food than this newbie Capri. We waited for a seat and I had a glass of moscato in the meantime. Bartender didn't give us the valentines menu at first so I had to ask, yet everyone around us had it. We started with honeybuns served with whipped ricotta and a half portion cesar salad. Honeybuns were delicious and sweet and the ricotta was just the opposite so it paired nicely. The cesar salad had a different taste but I liked it, good portion to split. My entree, the chicken parmesan, was actually underwhelming. Our experience started TERRIBLE. Upon arrival, we were given 5 different reasons why we couldn't be seated (all nonsense). Eventually, after complaining to the manager, we were led to our table. The interior is beautiful, and it feels like each section of the restaurant has its own theme and different vibe. Our server was very attentive, and the service overall was great. It's a wonderful place to go for the ambience or to enjoy drinks at the bar. The Zio Ugo, was very refreshing and well-balanced. I was most excited for the honey buns, but they were underwhelming. They were lightly glazed, not very sweet, and after the first bite of glaze the rest just tasted like a normal bun. The Funghi al Forno was deliciously seasoned, but the portion was very small and left me wanting more. For pastas, we ordered the Spaghetti all'Aragosta and the Garganelli alla Pollo. Both were flavorful and had a generous amount of protein. It's also good to note that you can order half sizes of the pastas to try more dishes. The filet mignon was just okay, nothing special. We have been trying to get a reservation for about a year, finally got one for today at lunch. I will say it was worth the wait. Started off with a couple drinks and scallop crudo and tuna scottato. Both were so good that we could have eaten them as a main course. My wife at the fusilli with shrimp and I had the spaghetti with lobster. Capri has such a beautiful interior- the space feels warm and stylish, and it really sets the tone for a nice night out. It reminds me a lot of Prima in Charlestown. The food, though, was a miss for me. The chicken piccata was unfortunately very salty, and the sauce leaned more oily than I'd like. The honey buns with ricotta were SO good and had great texture, but again, the salt overpowered what could've been a perfect balance. The Caesar salad was fresh and enjoyable, but I wished it had more anchovy or seasoning to really bring out that bold Caesar flavor. The service was alittle weird to be honest. We wanted to order 2 appetizers before the last person in our party arrived and the server kind of gave us a hard time about not ordering the whole meal at the same time. Multiple times we were in the middle of eating something and a busser or server asked if they could clear. Like our salad was only half done and the server was trying to take away our appetizer plates, utensils, and the remaining half of the salad. Again, when we were eating the entrees multiple people asked if they could take our plates that still were full of food and we had our forks in our hands. Everyone was nice but it felt like they wanted to rush us out. Loved the decor, design and ambiance! The service we had was excellent and we loved all the food. The honey buns with homemade ricotta is a MUST and we shared arancini, prosciutto & burrata and tuna scottato as apps. The fusilli and clams, chicken parm and acqua pazza (sea bass with lobster in tomato broth) were all delicious. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but will definitely be back.
