We enjoyed our first visit for a Mother's Day Brunch. The prefix menu was very nice with a glass of wine, pulled bread and appetizer . We enjoyed the hot fried chicken and pickles. For entree I had the chicken parm with gnocchi and mushrooms. It was a very large portion. For dessert we had key lime pie. Others at the table had steak which they enjoyed. The ambiance is beautiful and modern. There are many rooms with different looks. The patio bar was very bright with a greenhouse look. So I'll start with the vibes here are excellent - perfect for an upscale meal, date, happy hour, or celebration. The service matched the vibes and was great with no complaints. The drinks were fun, although a tad pricy even for Boston (but again, matching the upscale vibe). The food was just a bit disappointing, especially for the price. While there was nothing wrong or distasteful about the meal, it did not live up to the premium prices they were charging. A $45 steak frites (as the cheapest steak option) only to get a fairly bland steak was pretty disappointing. All in all, you're definitely paying for the ambiance which is good in the right situation. Would recommend for the events I mentioned and especially on a corporate card. Would like to try some more of the food options another time, to see if I just ordered a bad plate. read more

Finally made it to Cactus Club Cafe! The atmosphere is a total vibe--perfectly classy but casual. Just a heads-up that the lounge seats are a bit of a tight squeeze to slide into, but they are so comfy once you're settled! ​The food is definitely a highlight. They use real truffle sprinkled on almost everything, and the truffle butter was so good we couldn't waste a single drop. The sticky ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and not too sweet, but the gnocchi was the absolute star. The bartenders were beautiful and very attentive. The vibe was very cool and energetic, especially for a Monday night. I'd give this review 5 stars of if I stopped here but the food. Very excited for the opening of this restaurant! I saw their sign in the window for months and had to snag a res when they announced their opening. The inside is really spacious and had a very nice ambiance. Perfect for a date night or a girls night! We ordered some drinks, which were really good and sweet. It was happy hour, so we also got the sushi platter. Unfortunately, they were all out of crab so we couldn't try the crab roll or the crab dip. We opted for calamari and extra salmon instead. We also tried the fish tacos, which were really well seasoned and crunchy. Our server recommended the key lime pie for dessert, and it was probably my favorite thing we tried!!! Back again at Cactus Club Cafe Boston on a Friday night, and it continues to earn its spot in my rotation. This place continues to be reliable in the best way from great vibes along with solid food and drinks. We stuck with mocktails this time as we were doing dry January. The Margarita Zero, Little Pearl, and Hey Hibiscus were all refreshing, balanced, and thoughtfully made. My personal ranking was Hey Hibiscus (favorite), Little Pearl and then the Margarita Zero. Food highlights were strong: the Sticky Garlic Ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, and the Warm Pull Apart Bread made a repeat appearance because it's simply a must-order. The Sushi Set was clean and satisfying. My personal favorites from the Sushi Set were Torched Salmon Aburi and Tuna Temaki. The Steak & Lobster was the only miss for me as both lacked flavor, but the truffle fries were excellent. Finished the night with the Six Layer Chocolate Slice dessert, which was rich, indulgent, and worth every bite. What really elevated the night was the phenomenal service. We arrived 20 mins late to our 5pm reservation and they kindly held our table. Honestly think it's worth the wait- cocktails and mocktails are fantastic. My best friend heard the Cactus Club Cafe had recently opened so we decided to give it a try for dinner. The two of us had a res for 7:45 and were seated after a few minutes of waiting. The restaurant is beautiful and we got a cozy booth. I was really pleased with my experience!! The service was lovely - very attentive. And we absolutely loved the food and drinks, to the point where there was not a single item that we wouldn't come back for. We tried the bellini and blood orange margarita, both frozen drinks, which were so delicious and refreshing (not too boozy either). To start we shared the pull apart bread (comes with an herb butter that is so soft and divine) and an avocado dip that we inhaled. For entrees I had the rigatoni bolognese, which contains a beautiful mix of beef and pork ragu, and my friend had the cajun chicken sandwich. We both deeply enjoyed these plates. Hip new place for good cocktails and bites. Came here a few days ago with friends and almost couldn't get in because they were so busy but we managed to get a table. The hosts and waiter were very very friendly and even recommended some cocktails and appetizers which did not disappoint. I had the Penicillin and the paper crane: both very well made though not strong. We also got the Szechuan lettuce wraps and butternut squash ravioli with shrimp which came recommended. Both were great but the ravioli were standout. And I can't forget the 6 layer chocolate cake; SOO chocolatey and moist! You could definitely tell that this was a "going out" kind of place that has live end up the Boston food and overall outgoing scene. I came here to the weekend before the Boston marathon show was definitely packed, but I was able to make it in with my family while being on a standby line to the bar. It was about 20 minutes so it wasn't terrible. This place felt more like a Boston influencer café than the upscale dining experience they market themselves as online. The vibe just didn't match the image they try to project and it was very crowded chaotic and cramped. What really started things off on the wrong foot was the dress code. When a restaurant goes as far as texting guests before their reservation saying they "value style" and may refuse entry if you don't fit their "smart and classy" standards, you expect them to actually enforce it. Instead, there were plenty of people wearing hats, hoodies, sports t-shirts, and flat brims. If you're going to have a strict dress code, stand by it. Otherwise, don't advertise one at all. We had a reservation and chose to sit at the bar, which ended up being a mistake. The space was incredibly cramped. There was barely any room to move, and at one point I felt like I was practically sitting in my fiancée's lap while trying to eat our appetizers. For a place positioning itself as elevated dining, the seating experience felt clustered and uncomfortable. It was impossible for the food runners to deliver the food without bumping into whoever we were next to because there wasn't any room. The cocktails were decent, but nowhere near worth the price point. I ordered the Penicillin, one of my favorite cocktails and something I order often when it's available, and it was just okay. Drinkable, but not memorable, especially considering the cost. My fiancé had a mezcal marg then a spicy marg.. the spicy marg had cilantro in it? It was a weird move and it wasn't spicy at all, and I hate spicy drinks. The sushi appetizers were actually very good and probably the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the beef carpaccio completely missed the mark. It was bland, lacked seasoning, and honestly tasted unfinished. It needed salt, acidity, or something to give it life. By the time we finished the appetizers, we had already made a reservation at the steakhouse down the street because we genuinely didn't trust the experience was going to improve. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we wanted somewhere we knew the food and cocktails would deliver consistently instead of continuing to gamble on expensive menu items. Our reservation was honored and we were seated in less than five minutes after arriving. Kennedy took amazing care of us and made the experience even more enjoyable. We indulged in the signature Peach Bellinis, a whiskey sour, Cadillac margarita, dynamite roll, crab dip, pasta, and cheddar burger, finishing off the meal with the cheesecake and crème brûlée. I used to come here in the winter right after it opened, and before the crazy lines to get inside. I've met some great people sitting at the bar, and always had great service from the bartenders. I've met up with friends here and told people about the place. Food was great as well. That's until the hype started. There is always a line, always. Even when there are open seats at the bar, you're walked over to them as if it's table service. That's fine - I get it. You want the attention. I guess fine. I dine out often solo, and love to sit at the bar to meet people and have a general good time. I had a doctor's appointment earlier in the day and to cheer myself up, I decided to treat myself to dinner and a drink and maybe dessert (which I passed on and you'll read why soon). At one point, there were two empty seats to my left and two empty seats to my right - enough to seat two couples. I was asked by the hostess if I could move over to my farthest left to make space for a group that wanted to "flex and be seen." Once I moved to sit next to an older couple, who also overheard what was happening, they stated "well it better be Matt Damon and Ben Affleck." What walked in was NOT even remotely close and they were only ordering drinks to eventually sit at a table. The bartenders serving me were also confused as to what was happening, which is never a good sign if you ask me. I quickly finished my glass of wine and closed out my tab. But if you ask me, had the group been willing to wait 15 minutes like normal people, I still would have left within the same time. Solo diners need just as much respect as groups. Two couples could have easily been seated. And for someone who already had a rough day, it is an inconvenience to me to move for a group that eventually was going to be seated for dinner anyway.
