Cactus Club has become my unofficial Boston HQ this summer, think: date nights, casual lunches, full office reserved space for celebration. Most recent visit: spontaneous, no reservation, fully prepared to abandon the queue if the line was too long. We stayed. The walk-in line moves faster than you'd expect, and within minutes we were settled in with cocktails while the couple next to us got serenaded for their birthday. Didn't plan on catching feelings at a bar on a weekend night, but the bar had other ideas. On food: the Miso Caramel Seabass (dashi butter, rice, asparagus, in generous portion) is a non-negotiable at this point. It comes out steaming and perfectly balanced--I've ordered it enough times to know it never misses. Their rice is also legit; the rice in sushi alone tells you they're not cutting corners back there. And as an Asian woman, I love me some delicious rice, so this is well-deserved compliment. Cocktails worth your attention: many I'm sure, but these ones I can confidently recommend you give a try: (1) the Hand of God - bright, a little dangerous, deeply refreshing. (2) For something sweeter and prettier: The Bellini (peach schnapps, peach, sangria, bacardi, wine) is the move. Their sushi Blood 'n Blanco and Paper Crane are also worth the detour. As for service: consistently warm! The front-of-house team are always pleasantly welcoming from what I saw. And the crowd: ladies dressed to the nines, nervous first-daters who definitely met on an app, corporate groups attempting to relax. All coexisting beautifully. Space is beautiful, AC works well, hostess was nice and seated us promptly. We arrived before happy hour, but the HH deals saved you a few bucks nothing huge. The food did take quite a long time to get out to us, even though the restaurant did seem to be in its slow period, wasn't packed or anything. Calamari - could have been crispy, but it did taste fresh, dipping sauce was sort of like zesty sauce : spicy mayo, batter didn't have much seasoning but looked nice. Bacon cheddar burgers were cooked well, as we asked for and the truffle fries were on point. Crispy, well seasoned. The sushi platter was very clean and overall pretty good. For the price to portion / pieces? Not worth it IMO maybe for happy hour II believe you save 5-6 bucks on the plate. But again it was a nice platter, so not mad at it. Went on a Sunday afternoon with friends. Nice atmosphere and great service. We had a relaxing brunch for 3 hours and were never rushed or made to feel uncomfortable. Don't stress over the dress code. There were casual dressers (tees, jeans, sneakers) but people looked nice/presentable for the most part. The food was good. We ordered hot chicken bites, spinach & crab dip, the truffle chicken entree, the creole chicken entree, and crème brûlée. I really enjoyed the truffle chicken and crème brûlée. My friends enjoyed the creole chicken. Only food feedback was there were some fatty/gristle bits on the hot chicken bites app that weren't edible, but we enjoyed the flavoring. My wife and I absolutely love Cactus Club! It's a franchise that's originally from Canada, but this is their first American branch. This restaurant is huge! They have two bars, a large indoor dining area, an enclosed patio, and an outdoor seating area. The menu is American with seafood and steaks plus Asian fusion with items like poke bowls and sushi. It's the best deal to come here during happy hour for their food specials! It's Monday to Friday 3 to 6pm or Sunday to Thursday 9pm to closing. I personally think their appetizers are better than their mains. I would highly recommend the sushi set (12 pieces), short ribs (very tender and juicy and comes with 5 pieces), Szechuan Lettuce wraps (big portion with sweet crunchy chicken), Brioche with Truffle Butter (soft and the butter is to die for) and the Butternut Squash Ravioli (soft and very flavorful). The service here is awesome, they're quick, friendly, and checked on us often. This is one the few places were the server actually made small talk with us. I had a perfect girls dinner on Saturday at Cactus Club Cafe. Reservations are highly recommended. The interior is boujie and gorgeous. A perfect place for date night!! I appreciated the Basquiat artwork. Our server was great. We had the crab and spinach dip and salmon aburi to start both were fantastic! The dip was cheesy and warm and the salmon aburi was perfection. The salmon was smoky and I will be thinking about it for a long time. I had the steak frites with truffle fries and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think $40 is a very fair price for that quality and amount of food. My friend did the steak and lobster and loved that as well. I love that we can still find beautiful places with a great happy hour food menu. I tried many things and there is nothing I wouldn't eat again. Every bone in my body was saying this place is going to be overrated BUT happy to report back it wasn't. The hype is real and the food is amazing! We tried their iconic pull apart bread which was so soft so butter and really well seasoned. For drinks, we had sugar free margs (was good but not the greatest) and Peach Bellinis. Peach Bellini was my fav and sooo every time I go back you best believe I will be sipping on that. For the entree, I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli (w/o the Shrimp). Cactus Club Cafe reminds me so much of Earl's! Similar vibes, aesthetic, & unfortunately also pretty mid food. The interior is beautiful! They have a lot of seating, both indoor & outdoor. We went for lunch and wanted to try their happy hour menu, however, it starts @3pm. We arrived @2pm & didn't have much time to stay for it. As we flipped through the menu though, we noticed there wasn't much of a price difference between the happy hour prices of the dishes vs. regular prices. Only noticeable difference was for their chili citrus calamari ($8 difference). We ordered these dishes to try: - bacon cheddar burger (x2) - truffle fries - chili citrus calamari - sushi set The food took a LONG time... way longer than expected. Chili citrus calamari arrived to the table first. It tasted okay. Wished it was crispier and the sauce it came with tasted flat. Not impressed by this dish. I enjoyed the sushi set but don't think it's worth the price. I've never had sushi made this way! Fish tasted fresh. Still, didn't "wow" me though. We got two bacon cheddar burgers, one with a side of truffle fries. The fries were yummy! Perfect crispiness and had good flavor. Burgers were cooked how we requested, so no complaints for the burgers. The service was meh. Most of our dining experience was spent looking for our server, rather than getting to enjoy the food. Asking for the check took forever too somehow because she was nowhere to be found for a bit. Overall, I see the Cactus Club Cafe as more of just an aesthetically pleasing restaurant for cute pictures & strictly for the vibes. This experience did not live up to my expectations and in fact was quite disappointing. I'd rate the food and service "5" and the rest of the experience "1", hence my rating of 3-stars. My two BFFs and I were eager to try this new-to-us spot and were surprised to find a 6-week wait for a Saturday night reservation, but, okay. Given that, our expectations were high. Perhaps we are not the target demographic for the CC. We noted with surprise in their communications about the reservation, and on the website, an emphasis on a particular dress code. In their words: Dress Code Policy To complement the tone of our space, we kindly ask guests to dress in stylish, smart casual attire. We celebrate personal style that aligns with a refined atmosphere. Admission is at the discretion of our management, with the goal of ensuring an exceptional experience for everyone. We had a few conversations about this before we arrived, and took it seriously, so imagine our surprise to find, waiting in line and seated in the restaurant, people in blue jean shorts and sneakers, well worn blue jeans (not the stylish ones), backward baseball caps, etc. Not refined. It wouldn't have bothered us except for the emphasis made which was clearly for show and not enforced. Seemed a bit pretentious. The ambience is as described in other reviews: lively, energetic, trendy, etc. The design is lovely. There are two sections, a dining room and an enclosed patio. We waited to be seated and were led to the patio, the focal point of which is a bar. We were surprised not to be seated in the dining area, having made our reservations 6 weeks before, but didn't ask for a different table as the place was quite busy, the banquette to which we were shown looked comfy, and we didn't want to wait further. We later looked at the email reservation and noted that as was requested, "dining room" was specified. Had we realized that at the time we would have asked to be re-seated. The banquette was along the window, and each table had a shawl/blanket draped over a chair, which was a nice touch, as window seating can sometimes get chilly. However, the space between us (the banquette could easily have seated 5) plus the noise made it difficult to hear each other. We walked through the dining room on the way out and that space was only a tad less noisy. Our server, Nicole S., was pleasant, attentive, and efficient, answering our questions and making sure we got our drinks and meals quickly and as ordered. I had a glass of sauvignon blanc and the rigatoni bolognese with the fennel topping on the side; the bolognese was delicious and the pasta al dente. One companion had the spaghetti portofino, which looked amazing and she declared was very good. My other companion had the truffle parmesan chicken with grilled mushrooms and gnocchi in a sauce served on the side as she requested. She said this was quite good as well, so no complaints about the food. Stopped in here late on a Sunday night, and we were delighted to learn about the happy hour menu. The Smashburger is truly such a steal, but everything else is about like three dollars off. I got the Bellini, which was delicious; however, as someone who doesn't really like sweet drinks, I really benefited from cutting it with some soda water. Really good martini, but not sure it was worth $21 (wish I had known this before hand). We got the smash burger, fries, and the avocado dip - all of which were really delicious. Definitely recommend the smash burger (it isn't super huge). The avocado dip was like a guacamole and the perfect size. The mousse cup desert left a lot to be desired. It's very small. Most importantly, the mousse looked and tastes like it had fallen, so it was kind of like a sad pudding. Super disappointing and wish I hadn't ordered. Cactus Club Cafe is definitely a statement restaurant. They have such an elevated vibe with decor and design that feels very hand picked in every way. The ceiling had these metal bars with these spheres similar to an abacus and everything just looks so organic and cool.I could literally go on and on about how nice it was inside. In addition, their music selection was great. I heard Purple disco machine (edm/disco) at the perfect level to not affect conversations. Usually for places like this its beautiful vibes, food is bad and staff are meh but I've got to be honest all parts of the experience were great for me. Our server was such a sweetheart and we had some nice chit chat whenever she came over to check in on us. I never felt like I was ever waiting for anything. Now to the important stuff: the drinks and food. If you looked around the restaurant you could probably spot 5-15 of the Bellini (their fan favorite frozen cocktail). I mean I could see why it is sweet AF and just tastes like your drinking juice ...so delicious. The sushi set was fun and the salmon aburi was so delicious, I haven't had salmon on sushi like that a lot and it being torched really adds another depth of flavor. Truffle fries were perfect, the quality of potato was at another level from the first bite. Brioche was DELICIOUS but the truffle butter really elevated the flavor to me. Literally not a single thing I can complain about. Then, we finished off with a HUGE piece of chocolate cake, the type kids dream about. Me and my friend barely managed to finish most of it, it felt like those cheesecake factory slices but somehow more dense. The thing is the price points are definitely high here so expect to spend at least $60-100 if you get a drink or two. This is a great place for a date or celebrating a birthday. Honestly, I would come back just for the Peach Bellinis alone. For food, we got the Sushi Set, Sticky Garlic Ribs, Baja Fish Tacos, and Truffle Parmesan Chicken. From the minute I saw Cactus Club's peach bellinis and heard the infamous sound attached to it lol, I knew I had to make my way over to the closest one, and Boston was the winner lol. Arriving there, I was loving the paintings, design, and overall ambiance that they had to offer! The host was also so sweet and accommodating, which is always a plus:) After waiting a bit after our reservation, we were able to be seated at the outdoor seating, which was perfect on this nice summer day. Since we came for drinks and apps, we didn't have to look at the menu as we knew we needed a round of peach bellinis to start! From the first taste, not even being dramatic, but it definitely superseded my expectations as it really has everything I love in one drink, and it's so good that we had to order another round! Though they really weren't strong at all, unfortunately, the presentation and taste made up for it. The frozen peach Bellini has been all over social media and it definitely makes sense why since it was delicious. I also got the frozen blood orange margarita which was also delicious. One thing worth noting is that reservations require a credit card. Some areas offered views of the outdoors, while others felt more private and intimate. My only observation regarding accessibility is that portions of the enclosed patio felt a bit tight. Guests using wheelchairs or strollers might occasionally need to wait for others to pass through before moving comfortably in certain areas. The menu was fantastic. I was genuinely impressed by the diversity of offerings and ended up ordering several shareable appetizers rather than sticking to one main dish. It was definitely the right choice. Everything I tried was excellent, including the sushi, the tofu lettuce wraps, and a ravioli-style dish. I'm not usually a tofu fan, but the lettuce wraps were flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. Likewise, I'm not typically drawn to truffle dishes, but the truffle in the ravioli was balanced beautifully and never overpowered the dish. As someone who loves mocktails, I was excited to try one. Presentation-wise, it was adorable, but the flavor didn't quite match the visual appeal. I found myself needing to pop the flavor-filled pearls inside the drink to bring out more complexity and depth. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was probably the one area of the meal that didn't fully meet the high standard set by everything else. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Everyone was friendly, engaging, attentive, and welcoming. Combined with the beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful design, and delicious food, it made for a memorable experience. Cactus Club has an elegant and trendy vibe with food that matches the aesthetic of the space. Their signature frozen bellinis are super cute and a fun drink to order. They taste JUST like peach rings. A little sweet for me personally but still enjoyable. For food we ordered an assortment of appetizers including my favorite, the parker house rolls. Cactus Club Cafe was so elegant and beautiful inside. Also, a lot bigger than you'd expect! The food was delicious. The crispy chicken sandwiches and truffle fries were perfect to share. I enjoyed my poke bowl. Everything on the menu seemed great, I would definitely come back again for brunch or dinner. Our server was Eddie and he was so kind and helpful. Very excited for the opening of this restaurant! I saw their sign in the window for months and had to snag a res when they announced their opening. The inside is really spacious and had a very nice ambiance. Perfect for a date night or a girls night! We ordered some drinks, which were really good and sweet. It was happy hour, so we also got the sushi platter. Unfortunately, they were all out of crab so we couldn't try the crab roll or the crab dip. We opted for calamari and extra salmon instead. We also tried the fish tacos, which were really well seasoned and crunchy. Our server recommended the key lime pie for dessert, and it was probably my favorite thing we tried!!! Overall, I think the service was kind of slow (took like 20min to get the check) but that's probably because they just opened. Pricey, but fun to visit! read more

We enjoyed our first visit for a Mother's Day Brunch. The prefix menu was very nice with a glass of wine, pulled bread and appetizer . We enjoyed the hot fried chicken and pickles. For entree I had the chicken parm with gnocchi and mushrooms. It was a very large portion. For dessert we had key lime pie. Others at the table had steak which they enjoyed. The ambiance is beautiful and modern. There are many rooms with different looks. The patio bar was very bright with a greenhouse look. Was in Boston for business for a few nights and went to Cactus Club because they looked like a modern take on sushi and Latino flavors. Being a party of one, I sat at the bar. The bartenders were beautiful and very attentive. The vibe was very cool and energetic, especially for a Monday night. I'd give this review 5 stars of if I stopped here but the food. The food was just ok. Was on the heavy handed side, salty, sour, too big of flavors. I was very excited to try the cactus club Café, as it had been under construction in my neighborhood all year... and it did not disappoint! Our waitress got off you a rocky start by calling me the wrong name and wishing me happy birthday... But, it was actually our 25th anniversary. (They personalized our reservation and special occasion... but clearly she had the wrong table.) Nonetheless, she was very friendly, informal, and "hanging with us tonight." I LOVE that they actually offered non-alcoholic drinks tempting enough to order. They were almost $10 apiece... And I'd order them again. The food was exceptionally good and the chef put a new twist on every dish that we've already tried. We had the ziti Bolognese, and they added crunchy fennel seeds and spicy sausage. We had the salmon and they placed it on a subtle savory Dijon sauce. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with dim lighting and comfy corner booths. The perfect place for a girls night!! Such a pretty restaurant. Vibes are so high inside - they play great music. I can imagine the bar getting pretty busy on weekends. We came on opening night and had such a great time. The frozen bellini is worth the hype! It was so good and not headache-inducing, overly sweet. The sushi set is also the perfect thing to share because you get to try a few rolls. The server was so nice and actually came back and gave us her card after too! Bar line was ridiculous, fortunately we had a reservation. Ambience is INSTAGRAM in a good way. It's moody and natural with lighting they really did to flatter everyone. Food was pretty good too. Not a ton of veggie options unless I wanted it to be fake meat, which I'm really not a fan of. I don't want meat, and I don't want fake meat as a substitute. We got ceviche that was good but unusual, avocado spread, calamari, creme brûlée and key lime pie. Each dish was somewhat smaller than we expected, but they were appetizers. 4 stars for food, 5 for everything else. Avocado was definitely not guac, too smooth but tasted nice. Calamari was great. Earl grey creme brûlée was a little off, tasted like over-brewed tea and wasn't very flavorful. Brûlée part was very thick. Key lime pie was nice, the crust was also thick and dry and half of it was whipped cream. The drinks were phenomenal. Both cocktails and mocktails were great. read more
