Our server was such a delight and so fun, guided us to some great dishes on the menu. The oysters were, and i'm not kidding, the BEST i've ever had in my life! i started with 3 and then decided to skip dessert and get three more lol!! Supper club around Boston with our friends is fast becoming a tradition and this weekend, we set our sights on Porto. As a group of avid foodies, expectations were high and appetites loomed large and Porto did not disappoint. After a few years battling to find its identity and plowing through COVID lockdowns, Porto has indeed found its footing. If you are a consistent reader of mine, you know that our group likes to experience restaurant menus head on by ordering a number of dishes and sharing everything, and this night was no different. We started with orders of the meatballs, focaccia, tuna tartar, calamari fritti, octopus a la plancha, gnocco fritto, and cauliflower agrodolce and everything was excellent. The octopus and cauliflower were my personal top two of the bunch. The octopus was cooked perfectly with amazing flavor and I don't think I've ever had better cauliflower. Both were truly amazing. After finishing up the antipasti, we made our way to the homemade pasta. We ordered the roasted mushroom mafalde, duck ragu pappardelle, and rigatoni bolognese and not to sound like a broken record, but wow. The mushroom mafalde stood out to me as a big mushroom fan, but each of the 3 was fantastic and unique in its own right. The bolognese was creamy and delicious while the ragu had tender duck and a kick that would have made for a great meal in and of itself. As the waiter cleared our plates following the pasta dishes, it was time for the main event. Leading the way was the eggplant parm which in my opinion was a top contender with the mafalde for best dish of the night. I am usually not much of an eggplant person, but this dish was outrageously good. We also got the seared branzino and hanger steak which made for a terrific surf and turf, one-two punch for the table. At this point we were very happy, but no meal of that caliber is complete without homemade, warm chocolate chip cookies a la mode, cappuccinos, and espresso martinis to serve as the coup de grâce. Well idk where to start. We had a complete feast here and everything was really delicious. Service was amazing and high quality. The ambiance was very elegant and intimate. I ordered two cocktails, the first was Siesta in the sun, a tequila based cocktail. It was delicious and not too sweet. Not very strong but I enjoyed it. I then tried the No Jacket Required cocktail which was prickly pear and tequila. I liked this one a lot more, it was more my speed on flavor profiles. I did try my coworkers drink and she got the topical therapy, I think that was the best drink I tasted all night. It was very unique and smooth. I recommend that one for sure. We got a lot of shareables for the table. we tried the shrimp cocktail, The octopus a la plancha, the calamari fritti, porto meatballs, and burrata. My fav was the octopus and the calamari fritti. The octopus was slightly crispy on the exterior and tender on the inside, flavor was amazing. The calamari cooked perfectly with the crispy breading and an amazing spicy tomato aioli dipping sauce. I ordered the lamb chops and my co worker order the scallops and we shared the dishes. The lamb chops were so good and tender, cooked perfectly with a delicious rosemary yogurt sauce and salsa verde. The scallops also 10/10 with a meyer-lemon cherry relish sauce that just had the perfect amount of acid and sweetness. for dessert we tried the Churros and the warm chocolate chip cookie, by this time I was too full to really enjoy it but I did have a bite and the chocolate chip cookie was so gooey and perfect with a vanilla gelato on top and sea salt sprinkled. I really have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food quality was top notch. Fine dining for sure. Definitely recommend Porto if you are near one. Had an amazing meal at Porto tonight. We started off with the octopus à la plancha. It was perfectly cooked and the sauces were light but flavorful. I had the ricotta gnocchi--it was tender, pillowy, and balanced beautifully with fried sage. My son had the double rib lamb chops and loved them. We finished with the warm chocolate chip cookie, served in a mini skillet with vanilla ice cream. It is large enough to share and was also delicious. Beautiful restaurant. I sat outside on their patio, which is tucked away from the main road. Plus I had a really good meal! I started with the beet salad. Very elegantly prepared. And it tasted great. Not sure if this makes sense, but each ingredient had a purpose. I'd take a bite and notice one ingredient, then another bite and I noticed another ingredient. And they all worked. For my main course, I had the pappardelle and braised duck. The pappardelle was obviously homemade, and the duck ragú was very flavorful. I give this a 3.5 overall. Arancini, salad, clam pasta, lamb chops were all really good. Lamb chops were small but perfectly cooked! Sorbet was just ok. I could live without it. Service was really good here. They do auto add the 20% tip which you could miss if you don't look at the portalable billing device in detail so you may end up over tipping as they show you another prompt to add on more tip (kind of weird) The ambiance wasn't nothing special though for me. The last time I was here was on New Year's Eve and had a fantastic feast with the seafood platter and lamb chops. Service was wonderful the place was chique. Recently I went to the grand opening of the Amalfi Coast Patio. They did a really good job with putting a bunch of lemon trees and lights and just made it a very plain looking patio to an Amalfi oasis. The drinks were phenomenal and very Italian. They definitely know how to use their aperol liquor. I had something called the Red Berry it was very strong. They have passed others like calamari oysters and meatballs. Very delicious and I will definitely come here again to try their octopus that the owner Eric had recommended. If you haven't met him he's such a charming guy. read more

Hats off to the service at Porto We went to dinner tonight at Porto with reservations on their covered patio which is supposed to accommodate guests even when it's raining. However, as soon as we sat down, a thunderstorm with high winds came through. Plates and glasses slid off tables, making the patio unsafe despite the covered awning. Staff worked quickly to get everyone inside safely. Once everyone was safely inside the Porto staff pivoted to get guests seated and served inside during the dinner rush. It was cold and tli think the pasta was not fully drained to the sauce seemed to be diluted. I usually say something, but I let it go. I'm sure they would have re-made it. My friend and I shared one appetizer and one meal. Service was kind of slow, but they had a table for us around 7:30pm, and we didn't make a reservation. In my opinion, the food was a little too expensive, but it was very delicious. I really liked the pickled peppers on the Calamari and the lemon aioli went along very well with it. The free bread was very nice and warm, and a great start while waiting for your food. There wasn't much of the Wild Mushroom pasta, but it was very delicious, and you could taste the truffle. We had a great meal at Porto for Valentine's Day. We order a bottle of Trebbiano, split the wild boar pappardelle as a starter, and had the potato di mare for our entree. We were served warm bread with olive oil before our meal and they were very accommodating and split the wild boar pappardelle into two plates for us. The pappardelle was delicious and fresh. The piatto di mare was fantastic. The Bronzino, grilled octopus and the potato and broccolini sides were absolutely delicious. The scallops were okay, felt like they could have had a little more seasoning. Our server was great and very friendly. Sadly disappointing. First course consisted of tuna tartare. The tuna consisted of minuscule morsels that could not be placed on these colossal chips! The second course, ricotta gnocchi, was, even more disappointing. The flavor was totally overwhelmed by an over-abundance of parmesan cheese spread all over the dish. It appeared the gnocchi had been prepared in a pan and then cut, rather than rolled and was overly salty and floating in a thin liquid. None of the dessert suggestions would improve the first two courses, so I opted only for coffee. The prosecco was excellent, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was lively. I was surprised that I was offered outdoor dining, given that nothing was set up outside and it was a very cool evening, in spite of the fact I had my small service dog and I explained I wanted to be seated in a corner of the restaurant and that he just goes to sleep under the table! For $115, including tip, I think one can do better many other places; but, more importantly, get much better food! read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our early weekend dinner at Porto. Despite the heat, we ate on the patio and it was quite delightful. The restaurant has an aesthetic that transported us right to the Mediterranean, and the staff were all very friendly (our server Marjorie was lovely!). While the price point is high, the food and ambiance were well worth it. The Burrata came with two large balls of burrata, a delightful zucchini/tomato salad, and crunchy croutons. My only gripe was the salad was slightly overly dressed for my liking. The pasta in the Wild Mushroom Mafalde was perfectly cooked with a fun texture that paired well with the umami mushrooms. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Lamb Chops, which were cooked a perfect medium rare and were so tender that we couldn't resist eating every bite off the bone. A few things that slightly missed the mark -- my partner said the Vrum Vrum cocktail had good individual flavors but not great overall. We had a nice dinner at Porto last night. They have a beautiful space in Back Bay. They also have a very attentive waitstaff. Since we had seven people, we split the seafood platter appetizer- which was perfect. For my main course, I had the lamb with polenta. It was pretty good, but honestly some of the pasta dishes that my friends got were more flavorful. We had the cookie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
