I came to Boston to celebrate my cousin's graduation and we had a dinner reservation here for 10 people. The space is absolutely stunning: high ceilings, dim lights, lots of natural colors and greenery. We got seated right away in this really cute table in the middle of the big dining room. Service was exceptional! I feel like our waiters went above and beyond to make the experience very special for us. They also really helped us with recommendations on how much to order for our table and what the best dishes to get were. For drinks we got a few bottles of white wine and I opted to get a lemonade which had cucumber and mint. It was so delicious and refreshing! We ended up getting an assortment of apps as well as mains for each person. I tried: - Dips and pita: assortment of 3 dips: spicy feta, tzaitziki, and fava dip. All were amazing but somehow the fava dip felt particularly good compared to others that I have had before. The pita came out warm and had a very nice flavor, like they toasted it lightly with a bit of olive oil. Super good to share! - Lamb meatballs: amazing! One of my favorite apps. The meatballs were tender without being crumbly, the lamb was flavorful without being gamey, and the tomato sauce added a perfect acidic/ sweet balance to the spices of the lamb. The touch of labneh on top also added a really delicate creamy balance. - Baked feta: literally amazing! The feta they use there is some of the best quality, creamiest feta I've had at a Greek restaurant. It was also not too salty. This came baked in a delicate layer of perfectly crispy phyllo, topped with a light drizzle of honey, roasted grapes, and olives. If I had known in advance how good this was, I may have actually asked for it as dessert. A table-wide favorite! - Caramelized carrots: another very solid dish. Perfectly caramelized carrots over a bed of dill yogurt. Really simple but good! - Eggplant salata: I'd probably skip this one next time. I was expecting a warm baked eggplant but this was cold and a bit difficult to eat since it came with the skin of the eggplant that was tough. The flavors were a bit flat but the presentation was definitely nice. - Whole branzino: usually comes with head and tail but we asked if we could have it deboned since we would be sharing between two. The two perfectly cooked fillets had a nice crispy skin and tender meat. The green herb dressing was perfectly tangy and complemented the mild white fish flavor very nicely, - Village salad: another hit for me! I'm usually not too impressed by "Greek" salads at places, however, they used such high quality product here, that it was impossible not to enjoy this. The feta was creamy and perfect, the peppers/tomatoes/cucumbers were so fresh, the olives and onions were not overpowering at all. It also came with a touch of capers which I have not seen before but really enjoyed. The olive oil they used felt 1A grade. Pretty filling and would recommend sharing. - Lamb chops: I stole a few bites from my husband's lamb chops which were perfectly cooked, tender, and had a generous amount of fat. The seasoning was amazing also though a bit salty for my taste. Not gamey at all! - Baklava: we thought this would be a traditional baklava but it was more like a reimagined baklava with some yogurt, pistachios, cranberry sauce, halva. While it has great textures, and nice healthy flavors, I think we were hoping for something a bit more traditional. Very big though so probably ideal if you have a larger group. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here! The ambiance was super cute and the food was good. This is a perfect place to have a big celebratory meal since the dishes are so shareable and the set up is sufficiently smart casual- formal without being over the top or stuffy. If I'm being honest, I don't think I'd bother going back to Trade. I really didn't think the food was that great, especially for the price. Nothing was objectively wrong with it, but just nothing special. However, I did enjoy the lamb... but I'll just about always like a good lamb dish, so I'm not sure if that's saying much. If you're going just after work, expect a pretty corporate crowd, especially given the location. I did appreciate the upscale vibes and the staff was very attentive. We had a wonderful meal at Trade! The service was top notch, and the drinks were fantastic. The dining room is nice and elegant but, fair warning, the lighting is very dim. It's not much of an issue but be prepared when it comes time for looking at the menu. I had the branzino. It was one of the best fish dishes I've ever ordered. The skin was crispy, the meat was tender, and the chimichurri was a perfect pairing. Get a little bite of the tender lemon potato with a forkful and it's heaven. From a vegetarian perspective, trade is good for apps and drinks, but they only have one vegetarian entree. I personally don't like eggplant either, so this was a little tricky. Usually when a place is dimly, you know it's going to be expensive, offer incredibly small portions and sometimes ultimately only offer decent dishes. Luckily, this place was dimly lit with great ambiance, had decent portion, and the dishes were incredibly enjoyable! It was suggested that we order lots of things to share. The charred carrots, broccolini, eggplant, octopus and calamari were my favorites. Service was fantastic and everyone made sure our large group was well looked after. A quick walk over from South Station, Trade was the perfect respite from long hours being cramped on an Amtrak train. Met my friends here for lunch after hopping off the train and appreciated the airy, natural lighting. Trade is a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant -- I loved being able to walk into a place with soothing ambience, offered water and a place to sit and unwind. The attention to detail (fishing nets being used as decor for overhead lighting over the booths) was a special touch. Seemed like it catered to the working lunch crowd and commuters. John, the GM, was so welcoming and the staff here were all amazing! Really appreciated the warm hospitality. We ordered several dishes to share and enjoyed them all. Kudos to Chef Jody Adams. Deliciousness in each bite and lovely presentation. The price point was on the higher side, but seemed about par for the area. We especially enjoyed the pita (which they make fresh in-house) + mèze spread (the charred eggplant was phenomenal), village salad (refreshing!) and mushroom pizzette. It came on this beautiful board with divots for the spread. The pita was light and refreshing combining well with the different flavored spreads. The Taziki spread was creamy and tangy. The chard eggplant had a umami and rich flavor. The whip feta was my favorite providing that fresh and zesty flavor. The spicy garlic shrimp was by far one of my favorite dishes. The shrimp itself was juicy and the sauce pairing was delicious. The staff was very kind and advised us to use the extra pita bread they brought to dip into the sauce of the shrimp. What a fine dining experience here today! We had made dinner reservations and were seated promptly. Muwonge, our server was a delight. His was attentive, friendly and polite. We had some dietary restrictions and he took great care of it. We ordered octopus for our appetizers and a salad and swordfish entree'. The octopus was the best I ever had. It was cooked to perfection and it had no fishy smell whatsoever. So fresh and delicious. The swordfish with the harissa-pepper sauce was finger licking good and was presented well. I could NOT stop eating pita with this sauce after finishing the carrots!!! Rarely do I just hand out a perfect 5/5 however Trade, one of the Boston's finest Greek joint is definitely an exception to this. I was celebrating my friends anniversary. Great cozy, inviting, warm upscale ambience. The restaurant had olive trees which gave a touch of nature right in the heart of the bustling city. Drinks were strong and good. We ordered everything that was vegetarian on the menu. I was actually surprised to see so many vegetarian options. Some of my favorites were Pomegranate Glazed Eggplant, Falafel Bulgar Pilafc, Spanakopita Flatbread, and fried cauliflower. The food was so tasty; it was extremely well seasoned and cooked perfectly. All the sauces were delicious. The presentation was outstanding. The staff is extremely friendly. They do charge 3% fee to the overall bill excluding the gratuity/tax which is a bit off putting . The service is a bit slow and even though the drinks took a long time to come; considering everything was so amazing we overlooked the long wait. I haven't written a review in a long time but after my experience last night I cannot help myself. Trade is officially my favorite restaurant in Boston! I cannot believe it has taken me this long to go! Everything from the ambiance, service and food were 20/10! Mohammed was our waiter and I cannot even begin to express how great he was. He was accommodating, gave fantastic recommendations, and kept the drinks/water flowing. At one point we had another person join us last minute so we had to move tables and he was so patient with us! Especially considering we had already had a few drinks at that point. For the food we started with the mezze & pita, lamb arancini and octopus. Holy shit those dips and pita. I could have had 100 pieces of that pita!! The lamb arancini were huge and delicious. The octopus though...I wish I got a second order of it. I can't remember what it was served on top of, I think it was a pea puree. Regardless, the octopus was grilled perfectly and whatever it was on top of was delicious as well! For my main I had the herb crusted lamb chops. I thought the lamb would be the highlight of the dish...don't get me wrong they were amazing but honestly the arrowhead cabbage was out of this world! I never thought I would love a veggie side so much. Since we decided we weren't ready to leave and apparently had no concept of how full we actually were we finished with the chocolate cake. We jokingly asked for an extra large piece and they delivered. Imagine the ideal chocolate cake and that is what we had! There are so many positives about Trade. I'll start with the ambience which is classy, dimly lit with indoor plants added a charm to it. The servers were really friendly and knowledgeable. They explained the menu really well and gave excellent recommendations. We ordered Aphrodite's tears cocktail which is Mathilda liquor based drink and was utterly refreshing. So confused by the mixed reviews of this place! It must be all about what you order, because we had a great experience and always have during past visits. We stopped by for a friend's birthday celebration and had such a great meal. Service was super fast, which was much appreciated since we were a bit late for our reservation and needed to make a show shortly after. The staff was really accommodating and didn't compromise on the quality of the food or experience at all. I started with the Mykonos cocktail, which I would totally order again, and the tuna tartar and calamari. There was a bit too much of the crunchy topping on the tuna tartar, it over powered the dish a little bit, but the flavors and quality of the tuna made up for it in my opinion. The calamari was great - the peppers and lemon aioli make it a little more unique than the traditional style. My number one tip for this place - if you're here with two or three other people, go for the Greek Feast. Such a great way to sample a variety of menu items and it was the perfect amount of food for four when paired with a couple of apps. This place is definitely the definition of a hidden gem. I came here for my birthday with my best friend. Being Greek myself I certainly can appreciate delicious and authentic Mediterranean and Greek dishes. Everyone here is amazing, special shout out to Miguel making our experience fabulous. You can always tell the quality of a Mediterranean restaurant by a few things: their dips, their pitas, and their octopus! All three hit the mark and then some! The baked feta was what dreams are made of. The branzino was cooked to perfection.
