Order the whole fish Kaia style. You won't regret it. The food is delicious overall. A slightly Asian interpretation of Greek food. Light, fresh, flavorful. We also had the potatoes, octopus and shrimp (not pictured), but the whole fish is the showstopper dish you have to have. The service is friendly and attentive though the restaurant is quite busy. read more

Kaia has a beautiful interior with an airy, modern feel that makes the space immediately inviting. The service is attentive without being overbearing, which I really appreciate, and the food has consistently been delicious every time I've visited. I wouldn't necessarily describe the food as traditional or fully authentic Greek cuisine. Instead, Kaia has its own signature style, with a modern interpretation and creative touches that make the dishes feel distinctive. A great spot for a relaxed dinner, wine, or cocktails in a stylish setting. read more

I was really impressed with both our food and service from Aubrey. We tried three different mezzes and a whole sea bass. Each dish had unique flavors and was delicious. The only negative of the experience was that there were little fruit flies flying around the restaurant, but given how excellent both our food and service were, I didn't take anything off for those annoying little gnats. Food here is not cheap, but the quality and flavors were worth it. read more

We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and interacting with Santos. He was extremely thoughtful and considerate of my gluten and dairy allergies, and he went out of his way to work with the chef to make adjustments to dishes so they didn't contain allergens -- and were amazing! He was so lovely and truly made our night. read more

Sat outside and it was very busy on a Friday night. I love the vibe with the DJ and being able to watch the sun set over the city at dinner! Zucchini chips, drinks, and dessert are not to be skipped. We couldn't decide between the olive oil cake and the donuts so we got them both and when I go back, I will order both again! read more

Kaia in the South End had a really nice vibe and the food lived up to the hype I had seen in other reviews. We ordered the octopus and fried zucchini. The octopus was tender and flavorful, and the fried zucchini was crispy, light, and honestly hard to stop eating. Good spot for sharing a bunch of small plates with a group. Food and atmosphere both made it an easy place to enjoy a long dinner. read more

We celebrated our 25th anniversary here at this trendy restaurant. I've been meaning to come here sooner since everybody said it was a big must. I certainly don't have any regrets because the food was delicious! We ordered the zucchini chips, the hamachi crudo (my favorite) the octopus, and the lobster. It was divine. For dessert we had the baklava and the coconut cake. For Greek desserts they were generous portions, but they made them with a modern twist. Honestly, I preferred the traditional style. The ambience was modern chic and it was very busy and very popular. I highly recommend making reservations early in advance and I certainly hope to come back here for another occasion. read more

The perfect spot for a special occasion, Kaia is a beautifully decorated restaurant with a well curated menu to match. Favorite dishes included both of the whole fish (branzino and sea bream) which were cooked to perfection. The orange blossom honey and pickled seaweed preparation was an interesting twist. The treasures of the sea platter was also a decadent combination of fresh seafood. Servers were attentive and kindly helped to change servingware and plates often between courses as needed. read more

The dips for the zucchini chips and the bread were insanely good. We even ordered another bread just to eat more of the dip with. Honestly, all the sauces and dips in this meal were made fantastically. My cocktail was really good. I am normally really sensitive to the taste of alcohol but it was so subtle in this drink so I really enjoyed it. The service was really good, everyone was so attentive. I made a reservation for 6pm and ended up being late because the train shut down in the middle of my route (typical Boston public transit lol) and they were super accommodating and understanding. read more

This is my second time at Kaia. I'm a huge fan of Bar Vlaha, so I've been hopeful that Kaia would be a new staple. Unfortunately, after two attempts, I do think Kaia falls short. There are a lot of positives. The space is beautiful, chic, and luxurious. The service is very attentive: all the servers know the menu well and do a great job of explaining Kaia's theme as the Greek, seafood-focused restaurant in the chain. They bring out the food promptly and the presentation is gorgeous. However, both times I've been to Kaia, I've been somewhat disappointed by the food. It's quite expensive and I find myself disappointed by the flavors. My most recent time, we ordered the focaccia, the yellowtail crudo, the cabbage, and the beef short rib dish. We concluded that the focaccia was the best . The yellowtail and the cabbage were fine, but the seasoning was kind of bland and nothing stood out to us. The beef short rib was seasoned in a strange way--both of us were shocked when we took our first bite. It came with an eggplant spear that was stuffed with a bechamel of some sort. It kind of oozed and again, was kind of bland and boring. We finished the dish, but didn't necessarily love it. Granted, both times I've gone, I haven't gotten the seafood, which is the linchpin of the restaurant. But after two experiences paying a ton for food that feels like it's trying too hard to be upscale without delivering on flavor combinations that work. read more

If you're looking for a new restaurant to try for a date night or a night out with friends then I would recommend visiting Kaia. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is very warm and intimate. The staff is also very friendly and very helpful with describing menu options and providing suggestions. The only disappointment was the octopus dish--I had seen photos online and was really excited to try it, but it didn't quite meet my expectations when it arrived. read more

Fish was very tasty. Overall best meal presentation of any restaurant I've been to in Boston. Great service.

Finally tried Kaia -- I've skimmed their menu before and could tell it was clever and thoughtful, but actually going in person and tasting everything went beyond my expectations. I got their pineapple, chamomile, rum drink with a drizzle of olive oil -- so refreshing, fruity, and lovely. When my octopus dish came out, someone in a chef's coat stopped by to walk me through the elements, which I thought was such a nice touch. You could really feel the thought and intention behind the dish. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors, textures, and overall cook were perfect. I'd been so excited to try Kaia, and now I'm just as excited to go back. The staff were helpful and cool, and the space has this open, modern vibe -- great for a date, group dinner, family night, or even something more corporate. This first experience made such a great impression and Kaia could easily become my new favorite restaurant in the Bos area. read more

Amazing meal and service was spot on! Let me break down what we loved: Zucchini crisps (5/5) - these were so unique. Perfectly crisp and tossed in hot honey The scallop crudo (5/5) was fresh and tasty The octopus (5/5) - crisp outside but tender inside. This was perfectly grilled and paired with a dip The lettuce (3.5/5) meh. Not bad if you absolutely want to add some greens to your meal. But nothing special here. Matcha bakhlava (4/5) - the matcha was a surprisingly complementary flavor, but the lemon gelato didn't pair well with the bakhlava. The other dessert we had amazing. Overall lovely experience, will definitely be back! Note - the patio chairs don't have any backrest and can feel uncomfortable after some time. read more

Stunning spot serving beautifully reimagined Greek dishes. It's perfect for a girls night out. To start, the servers are so nice. They went through the menu one by one and were very proud of the dishes being put out. Pricing-wise Kaia is rather expensive as it's a higher end restaurant, so you're mainly paying for the beautiful ambiance and aesthetic dishes. We tried a couple of their Meze dishes such as their potato, gyro & octopus. While they were beautiful, there was just something small that could've been improved upon each one. For example, a crispy octopus could've been better than the soft one they served. Also while the gyro condiments were perfect, we found the lamb a bit dry. I thought their potato was perfection though. We also tried their desserts which were interesting. I really love how they always add touches of acidity with citrus. However I did find the Loukoumades texture a bit gummy-like. Maybe a bit too much syrup but the orange blossom honey flavor was lovely the first couple bites. Overall, would definitely come back though. All dishes were still great, just slightly missing a little oomph. read more

Sunday night at 6pm was a great time to visit Kaia. It was very calm and the space was full of rounded curves from the couches to the ceiling arches set beneath a comforting glowing candlelight. It was not crowded when we arrived which was perfect since I have seen it completely packed before. Our server, Faith, made it an exceptional experience. She was patient, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a very warm presence. She was very considerate and accommodating for my dairy allergy. The cucumber and mandarin cocktail was light and refreshing. All three dishes we ordered had unique and distinct mod Greek flavors. The cauliflower was slightly grilled and resembled a broccolini / cauliflower hybrid. I wish there were more macerated cherries, they added a great compliment to the nuttiness and crunch of the pine nuts and spice of the harissa chili oil. The octopus was incredible even omitting the butter from the sauce. It was grilled perfectly, both crispy and soft. A must order! Lastly, since it was a special occasion we decided to order the grilled whole sea bream. It was delicious, a thick lemony sauce was ceremoniously poured over the fish pooling around it. The thin skin was luxuriously crispy and flavorful. The fish was slightly nutty and buttery soft. The meal from start to finish was delicious, service was excellent, we left with abundant satisfaction. read more

Went here for a double date with my fiancés brother and his husband to celebrate our engagement! This was such a perfect place for a group of people. Tapas style food with a small menu which is great if you are indecisive. Everything was so yummy and had such a great presentation to it. Our server was helpful when it came to choosing wines and when we got our dishes they were great about explaining what everything was. It felt like I was in a Michelin star restaurant! Super great location in the south end and the space is super cozy. I really like how contemporary it looks and how filling the dishes are. Also since we were celebrating my fiancé and I engagement they gave us all a shot of their alcohol and a card to say congrats! Super special and felt really taken care of by everyone! read more

Great option for a vibey, special occasion dinner in the South End if you are a fan of seafood. The decor from the tables, chairs, and lighting to the service was great. We shared the zucchini chips which were light and puffy with a tangy spicy sweet chili like sauce. One of the better zucchini chips that I've had in Boston. Pretty good portion size as well. Ordered the spinach spanakopita which was super flakey with lots of yummy layers. And it was super pretty to eat. The pork had a yummy sauce but was not the biggest fan. Didn't realize it would taste more like a meatball. Finished off with the Aegean style seabream. The presentation was amazing and the server cut it up and placed pieces of the fish into a plate of soup that each person got. The soup was super yummy and the fish was perfectly cooked. But heads up that this is market price and def not the cheapest dish you will get. I think it was worth it for a special occasion. read more

Food ordered: Gifts Of The Sea (3 seafood options for one person, only food item I would pass on if I go again), Yellowtail Crudo (so much flavor and incredible quality), Feta (SO GOOD!!!! Probably my favorite), Spinach (like a lasagna), Octopus (great portion size), Gyro (half size was plenty for 5 people!) The restaurant itself is so beautiful. Kaia is a dining experience that will blow you away and make you want to come back as soon as possible. The aesthetic is upscale, modern and cozy. They have a dj that starts playing some beats you'll be happy about. The staff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and kind all around. The food is out of this world! We started with two different glasses of their greek rose, both were delicious and went well with everything we ordered. We started with their gifts of the sea tasting. All of it was great, my favorite was the crab claw. Next we had the potatoes which were to die for. They come with fried skins and also this charcoal paste type of addition that was amazing. Broccolini was one of my highlights for the night - it's cooked 3 different ways which gave it a nice crisp. Octopus was beautiful and delicious. Prawn was the biggest prawn I'd ever seen, and makes my mouth water writing this. For dessert we had the baklava and their gelato. Both were the perfect cap to a perfect dinner of flavors and great vibes. Absolutely coming back! read more

Classy and minimalist interior with a DJ. The service was attentive without being too overbearing. Was so excited to pick this place for my birthday dinner. Went ahead and made a reservation for outside and had 2 of my friends come with. We went to the hostess to check in for the reservation early. She was so incredibly rude and told us we had to sit inside. We told her we had made the reservation for outside hoping it was a confusion but she rolled her eyes and told us that we had not. (Even with the reservation in hand in front of her) We then politely asked if there was space for us to sit outside and she once again told us no and caught an attitude. I understand if it would've been full but shortly after three girls without a reservation came and asked the same thing and were seated outside. On the reservation we had noted it was a birthday. And someone had even come by to ask the name of the birthday girl but then there was no follow up. Overall experience wasn't worth it but luckily the food was good and we managed to salvage the evening. read more

Cute spot and easy reservations. Cucumber and Mandarin drink was light and refreshing. Scallop Crudo hit the spot. Grilled seabass was really good with the sauce. Octopus was tender. I would come back and try more items. Great addition to south end! read more

Absolutely loved! Went for drinks and zucchini chips. We started with the pickled melon and cane, sweet salty perfection. Such an interesting combination of flavors but works well together . Came to this place with a friend because I was feeling a little fancy for dinner. The atmosphere is pretty lively. We were seated in the bar area and the server was great. Gave us good recommendations and explained to us the different drinks they had which matched the taste profile I requested. The food tasted great and everything was cooked perfectly without being overcooked. The crudo was definitely fresh, nice and tangy. The pasta was creamy and savory with a meaty taste of mushrooms. Definitely my favorite of all the dishes I tried. The Feta dish had the strongest flavor which was great at first but became too much towards the end. The octopus had a great char, but after trying this in other places, it wasn't at the top of my list for me. The beef was also very tender and juicy. Although, I liked the food for some reason it didn't really stand out as fantastic. The flavors were definitely on the milder side (except the feta). Lastly, the dessert was also just ok. The Baklava had an interesting take where it was more divided and had some kind of dip that I don't know how to describe and didn't like. The basil & carob followed the same mild tasting theme, but the flavors itself with the olive oil was definitely tasty. Parking in the area was unbelievably hard with not that many street parking options around the restaurant, especially on a busy Friday night. I recommend parking a bit further and walking about 10 minutes to the restaurant. read more

Kaia reimagines classic Greek flavors. Sometimes new age restaurants miss the mark but Kaia hits the bullseye. The beautifully renovated space is ideal for date nights, special occasions, or group gatherings. The staff deserves exceptional praise for their level of service everyone was professional, friendly, and helpful. Our server Kseniia was incredible she significantly elevated our experience. Highlights: - Zucchini chips: Perfectly crisp with tzatziki powder and garos caramel - creative yet respectful of tradition - Spanakopita: Expertly elevated classic - highly recommended - Broccolini: Simple, but an excellent meat free option - Potatoes: Outstanding with charcoal emulsion and crunchy shallot crumble - Prawn: Enormous and perfectly cooked - Octopus: Excellent flavor and perfectly cooked - Gyro: Top 3 dish an absolute must order - Grilled sea bream: Standout dish with perfectly cooked fish and delicious orange lemon sauce - Baklava: The only dessert I'd recommend - The drinks and wine were top notch. I recommend the Dill & Juniper. Skip: - Tuna Crudo: Tahini and sumac overwhelmed the fish; odd texture from xidato jelly - Souvlaki: Despite promising lion's mane mushrooms, the sauce was excessively sweet - Squid: Overly complicated - Donuts and juniper honey ice cream read more

LOTS of hype over this new opening in South End. This spot has a really nice vibe, a live DJ, lots of bar seating, and great service. There's a lot of street parking in the area, but it can get really busy in the evening, especially on the weekends. Not the best value for what you pay, but overall a great experience. We will for sure be back! Zucchini chips were so crispy and fresh out of the fryer. I got in early for once! From the parent company of Greek favorites Krasi and Bar Vlaha, Kaia focuses more on the Aegean coast of Greece. Vibey place with great service. Onto the food: * Kopanisti: spicy feta & stinky tofu made for a very pungent combo, but it worked! Would've preferred bread to carrots for dipping though. * Cod cheeks: the one disappointment. The fish was very tender, but the dish was one-note (creamy) and lacking flavor. * Kormos: great end to the meal! Juniper & honey semifreddo that was floral and refreshing. Overall, I liked its sister restaurants better, but Kaia is still def worth a try! Reservations are hard to get so plan ahead. read more

Fabulous! What a vibe. This place was packed at 5 P on a Saturday. We love Krasi so naturally had to try its sister restaurant. Kaia was modern, sleek, and elevated in ambiance. The service was great, attentive. Our waitress was informed and helped us choose two solid red wine bottles to pair with our dinner. Fan favorites from the food menu were the zucchini chips (which we did with caviar), tuna crudo, feta dip, the potato, gyro, octopus, and the grilled whole fish. The grilled whole fish was light and flavorful. The broccolini was a little dry but yummy. We finished with the loukoumades which were delectable. We also requested a house made hot sauce which paired really well especially with the deconstructed gyro. I'd absolutely come here again. The bar looks fun too as a place to enjoy.
