Perfect place to load up on carbs. The ratio on the plate of steak frites was mostly fries which was slightly disappointing. The mac and cheese was really good. Overall the portions were larger than expected

The service was excellent. Old fashion steak house vibe. The bread basket was very dry and you could tell it was not freshly sliced. The steak was a little over but good. The fries were excellent. Crisp and well seasoned. The cocktails were traditional and served ice cold. The tuna tartar was fresh and light but drowned in way too much sauce.

My wife and I recently tried grill 23 and we keep coming back. I already knew it was a very popular steak house and it does not disappoint. We were very impressed with the wait staff as they were frequently around and very attentive to every table. The food itself is incredible. Every dish has unique flare and is very tasty. I especially enjoyed the lobster bisque and the onion soup. The steaks are very good quality and truly worth what you pay. They are simply seasoned but cooked to perfection with good flavor. We continuously get the dry aged sirloin. Drinks are good and sides/ starting bread only add to the greatness of the meal. Dessert menu is always switching so we have had a few options, all very good and a solid end to the meal. Highly recommend!

This is a top notch steak house...pricey but good value for the experience. They have an impressive selection of craft beers on tap. We went for the Dine Out Boston package and this is a good way for people to approach this place for the first time. Service was great.

Service was excellent Misty and the Busboy were awesome. The steaks were fresh and tender Lobster tail was ridiculous and not worth $60 the sides were huge and Tasty Calamari had very little Calamari but was prepared well Famous Coconut Cake was awesome Oysters were pricey but insanely fresh and good. It is out of my price range so I would not go back but it is a great establishment selling good food expertly prepared.

I've been wanting to try grill 23 for so long! The service here was great and the restaurant itself was huge and beautiful. For the food, the French onion was DELICIOUS probably the best I've ever had and I would absolutely come back for this. The calamari was good too but nothing amazing. As for the steak, I got the prime New York and it was ok but honestly a bit chewy and not worth the price, I could get something better elsewhere. My boyfriend really enjoyed his ribeye but also didn't think it was the best he ever had. The tots and cookies I would skip honestly (we had Mooo the week previously and these pale in comparison to theirs) but I would def go back for the soup and cocktails!

I came here upon recommendation from a colleague who used to live in Boston. Making a reservation online was easy and smooth. It's definitely a classy spot, white tablecloths, nice ambiance, so dress up a bit! They start you off with complimentary bread, which was delicious. The cornbread especially was a favorite, so much so that we asked if we could have a bit more of just the cornbread, and they happily brought some out. Loved that! DRINKS: -Mojito: good but could've been a bit sweet -Taittinger: my mom enjoyed her champagne -Daou Cab: my sis enjoyed it and had 2 glasses FOOD: Ribeye: So good and was cooked a medium rare, as requested! My sister and I shared it, and they were kind enough to split it for us. Honestly, it looked like two full ribeyes when it came out. It was seasoned well. Salmon: My mom loved hers, it's usually her go-to dish, and she said this one was excellent. Lobster Bisque: They split this for us too, and again, it looked like we each had our own serving. Creamy and flavorful. I would get it again. Carrots: These were adorable -- little stubby glazed carrots (I'm sure they have a proper name), but they were delicious! Our ribeyes came with a side salad, which we didn't realize when ordering, so we probably didn't need the carrots -- but they were still worth it. The crème brûlée was good too, pretty standard but tasty. The only downsides: 1. My sister ordered a second glass of red wine before the ribeye arrived, and it took forever to come out, she wanted to enjoy it with her ribeye, but it arrived much later. 2. And we were seated near the restrooms, which wasn't ideal. Not right next to them, but close enough that people walked by often. If I'd known, I would've requested a different spot when booking. 3. And here's the crazy part, when we got the bill, they applied a separate 30% tax for liquor on my mojito. Not on the champagne or wine. I've never seen that before! I know drinks get taxed like everything else, but it was literally listed as a separate "liquor tax," 30% apart from the food tax. When I asked our server, he kind of joked as if I was clueless on taxes and said, "There's tax on everything,".which wasn't exactly helpful. I asked if it was a Massachusetts thing but he just laughed it off. Maybe it's a Massachusetts thing... Still, it was odd and definitely caught me off guard because everywhere else I've gone, it's just one tax calculation on the total bill. Overall, a lovely dinner with great food, nice service, and a few quirks. I'd still come back, just maybe ask for a different table!

First time - unreal experience! Everything was perfect. The type of spot you want to bring other people so they can experience it. I will be back as soon as I can get a reservation.

The filet here is incredible, drinks (cosmos) were delicious & the overall ambiance / decor was welcoming. Service was amazing, we ordered the 1,000 layer potato thinking it was larger but it was the size of our pinky. We told the waiter and he ordered us the side of potatoes. If you want a fancy small app, get the 1,000 layer potato but if you want a good amount of the same style potato (still layered). Our waiter was super understanding of our confusion and only charged for one. Overall I had a great experience & will come back!

    100 Day Aged Prime Ribeye

My husband took me here for my birthday to celebrate. This was not our first time here and felt like it was time to review. The food was exceptional. Every item we ordered was cooked to the perfect temperature and seasoned well. Not too salty or lacking. We started with the waygu carpaccio. It was tender, flavorful and in my opinion you received a lot of meat for the price. I ordered the wedge salad and could not have been happier. The blue cheese was creamy and tart but not overbearing. My husband ordered the Caesar and I wasn't quite as impressed with that. The anchovy flavor was entirely too strong. It is all I could taste but my husband enjoyed it. He ordered the 100 day aged prime rib and said it was the best prime rib he'd had ever eaten. I traded him a bite of filet for a bite of his and it was an exceptionally juicy and flavorful cut of meat. I ordered the filet with truffle butter. I was a tender piece of meat and cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese was probably the best Mac and cheese I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The cheese was thick and creamy and again seasoned well. I find most restaurants have runny watery cheese but not the case here. The cream corn was amazing and will definitely be getting both of these items again. The fries were good too just not anything I have had comparable at other steak restaurants. By the time we got to dessert we were stuffed but they were both very good and we would get them again. Our server's name was Joel and his support person was Chris. They both took great care of us and made sure my birthday night was a wonderful experience. The vide in the restaurant is lively and fun but it is a bit loud. It's not a place for a quiet conversation but we had a great time. We'll be back again soon!

A birthday meal at Grill 23 & Bar was the kind you don't forget. It was layered with richness, history, and absolute attention to detail. The evening began with a classic Negroni cocktail and the Wagyu Beef Carpacccio: impossibly tender slices of beef, barely kissed by truffle aioli, topped with crispy shallots, arugula, and foie gras. It was delicate and opulent all at once...like silk on the palate. Then came the crab cakes: golden and crispy on the outside, but packed with sweet lump crab inside and zero filler. A little lemon, a little spice, and a whole lot of finesse. For the main course: the 100-Day Aged Prime Ribeye Charred beautifully on the outside, ruby-pink in the center, and brimming with deep, nutty, almost cheese-like umami that only long aging can create. It was bold, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth tender--a steak that tells its own story. Let's not forget about the foie gras. It was buttery and rich with just the right balance of sweetness and salt. It practically dissolved on the tongue. For sides, I couldn't skip the legendary Grill 23 Tots. Lightly crisped, infused with truffle oil, and just indulgent enough to make you close your eyes after each bite. For dessert, the Famous Coconut Cake. It was airy, dreamy layers of coconut cream and sponge, paired with pineapple sorbet and a coconut dulce de leche that pulled everything together in a bright, tropical finish. But the highlight of the sweet course? The PX Affogato. A few scoops of rich vanilla gelato drowned tableside in warm, velvety Pedro Ximenez sherry. Sweet, nutty, and boozy in the most elegant way. Lastly, got to finish the meal with the espresso martini crafted by their award-winning bartender. It was bold, chilled, PERFECTLY frothed, and beautifully balanced. A cocktail made with intention, not trend. Whether you're craving a perfect steak, fresh seafood, or just want to be spoiled for a night, Grill 23 delivers at every level

Arrived on a Friday night with a reservation. We got seated at the upstairs seating which was less crowded than the bar and downstairs section. Food came at a decent pace. Great service and great ambiance!

Wow. What an absolutely phenomenal dining experience! We went to Grill 23 for my birthday dinner and it exceeded my expectations by miles. We were promptly greeted upon walking in and taken to our table. The holiday decor was just lovely! They even have a gingerbread display curated by their pastry chef! Our server, Hector, was an absolute gem. He was prompt, sweet, and professional. He knew when to give us space and could definitely read the table, which is a skill I appreciate! We started off with some drinks and moved right into dinner (plus they brought some fresh bread). I had the steak frites and my husband had the prime meatloaf. Both were outstanding! I ordered the taleggio creamed spinach which was also phenomenal. For dessert we had the G23 vanilla milk and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and all I have to say is DO IT. Hector also brought out a little birthday dessert for me. For all that we got, we expected our bill to be much higher than it was. This was truly a one of a kind fine dining experience and we would love to make this an annual tradition on our trips to Boston!

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

People recently wondered why Boston got nearly entirely shut out by the Michelin people (only 1…read moreone-star was given); among the places that were said to be in the running was Amar, located in a lovely space in the Raffles Hotel. We have been there twice, and I now will put my brief review. The take-home: if Boston, Raffles, and Amar think they deserve a star, they really need to up their game. I will get one thing out of the way very quickly: the food is spectacular and the wine service was excellent; these are not the reason for my comment. The simple truth folks is that a dining experience is not JUST about the food. It's about ambiance--which includes service and atmosphere, and that is where Amar just falls apart. It would be wrong to not recognize that the individual servers were quite nice and attentive. We had an 830 pm seating--hardly late in most cities, though one might suggest that in Boston that is on the later side (it really isn't folks). Regardless, by 1030-11 pm, the dining room was nearly empty on a Saturday night. At that moment, a server came over to us to alert us the kitchen was closing--which was obviously them saying "get out"--but soon thereafter the smell of cleaning fluid filled the air, and we realized there was a person cleaning the tables--with a cleaning cart, complete with mops, brooms, and cleaning fluid in the middle of the dining room. While people were seated and eating. This is a restaurant with a pricey menu and wine list, and I cannot remember a time when dining in a fine restaurant when something like this EVER happened. We found it funny at first, but while trying to eat our dessert and drink our final cocktails the smell of ammonia really ruined the final experience. In the end, once served with the bill, it was not funny. The bill was around $1000 for 4 people including a nice bottle of wine. So: expensive, nice individual service, good food. But the lack of awareness about how diners paying for an expensive meal feel being rushed, and then the utterly ludicrous presence of a cleaning cart in the middle of the dining room while people were still eating (I posted a photo) makes Amar a laughable memory but nowhere I'd go back to.

I've been a loyal fan of haley.henry for years and have recommended this spot to countless friends,…read moreso I was really excited to finally bring a new coworker here. Unfortunately, this most recent visit didn't live up to the high standards I've come to expect. While a few dishes hit the mark, the majority of our order was a letdown: Tinned Octopus: Surprisingly chewy and lacked seasoning. Mushroom Toast: The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was completely drowned out by an aggressive amount of balsamic. Beets: Had a very overwhelming cumin flavor that threw the dish out of balance. Roast Beef Slider: Served cold and felt a bit uninspired. It's such a cute, intimate space, and I've had so many wonderful nights here in the past, but the execution was just off this time around. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was definitely disappointing given how much I usually love this place!

The wine selection is excellent and thoughtfully curated -- whites, reds, bubbles, orange wines, and more, so there's truly something for every palate. My friend and I both ordered a red, and it was absolutely perfect. Our server was super friendly and attentive, and she even offered a few samples so we could try before committing to a full glass, which we really appreciated. For food, we shared the hot dog with fried oysters to pair with the wine, and it was surprisingly delicious and a fun, elevated bar bite. Overall, the experience was fantastic -- great wine, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Pricing is definitely on the higher end, with wine glasses around $20 and the hot dog at $14, but the quality and experience justify it. I'd absolutely come back for another wine night.

The chicken anticuchos were great--highly recommend them for anyone who doesn't like gamey meats. I'm Peruvian, and at first I thought the menu might not look Peruvian enough. The restaurant wasn't full, so we had no wait at all. Service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. And the churros--wow! You have to get them. So simple, yet so good. We had a few oysters, which were small but very fresh and on the sweeter side. I usually prefer briny ones, but these were very tasty. The tuna ceviche was perfect. The chicken tacos were also juicy and delicious, and the calamari were very nicely flavored and crisp, and come with a mildly spicy sauce. I will definitely be back soon.

Soon as he found out we came all the way from Hawaii, he made us feel right at home. Real good energy, super welcoming, and took care of us the whole night. The adults started with a couple Manhattans, and da buggahs had mana . Exactly how a Manhattan supposed to be. For appetizers, we went with the full Abe's Seafood Tower and the Caesar salad. I highly recommend both. My daughter and son went all in, and the homemade croutons made that Caesar salad pop. We liked the oysters so much, we ended up ordering another dozen. Sahin told us the Duxbury oysters (I think that's the ones we had) are local to the Boston region and are farmed in the upper water column above the oyster bed, which keeps them in the current and gives them that clean, briny taste. Mean, supah ono! For the main, we shared the 22 oz bone in ribeye and lobster tail. Steak was cooked proper, juicy, flavorful, just how it should be. Sahin even offered to have the steak sliced up for us, which was a nice touch. For sides, we had the au gratin potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both were super tasty, and the Brussels sprouts had that perfect char. Ended the meal with da cookie dessert which had homemade whipped cream. Overall, real good experience. Great food, great drinks, and service that made us feel comfortable from the jump. If you staying in Boston and like seafood and steak, this spot is worth checking out. Just note, it's a typical Boston setting, everybody talk loud haha. Mahalo plenty, Sahin. It was a pleasure. I give dis place, 2 shakas and an auriiite!
