I rarely leave negative reviews, but I'm very disappointed by the complete lack of communication. I had a reservation that I canceled due to an unexpected work commitment. Shortly afterward, I learned the meeting had been canceled and immediately contacted the restaurant to reinstate my reservation. Unfortunately, the table had already been given to another party. While I understand and respect cancellation policies, the fee was $40 per person, so I felt my situation warranted at least a review. When I called the restaurant, I was told that the cancellation fee could be waived, but that I needed to submit my request by email for management to review. I did exactly as instructed and sent my first email on May 29. Since then, I have followed up multiple times (on June 4, June 10, and again later) and, nearly a month later, I have still not received any acknowledgment or response. I was not expecting a guaranteed refund--only the courtesy of a response. Whether the answer is yes or no, customers deserve timely communication, especially when a significant cancellation fee is involved and they have followed the process the restaurant requested. The lack of communication has been far more frustrating than the fee itself and has left me with a very poor impression of the restaurant's customer service. read more

My friends wanted to go out to somewhere new and we decided to try Marcelino's. I was surprised at how good the food and drinks were here! The patio was a bit cold but they had heat lamps. We were seated at a big short table with small square seats. It was comfortable. The vibe was great though. I liked how it had different seating and the view was beautiful. Definitely will be a great spot during the summer. We ordered bone marrow, eggplant, beef skewer, chicken skewer, salad, lamb chops, steak, branzino, ceviche, garlic shrimp, lebne, rose cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, and pear dessert. Honestly everything was good. The garlic shrimp was a bit salty though. They served pita bread with the dishes and boy, the pita bread was pillowly and hot. So good. It helped cut some of the saltiness. If I had to pick my favorite dishes were the bone marrow, eggplant, lebne, garlic shrimp, and chocolate lava cake. Our server was attentive and the ambiance is great for drinks, would be cute for a date night or honestly any occasion. I liked that it felt elegant without having a snobby air. The rose cheesecake had a strange taste and not a typical cheesecake texture; this was the only thing I didn't like. Both drinks I specifically came to this restaurant for were "still being prepped" at 5:30 pm. I told the waitress I was from out of town and would wait for the Boston crème espresso martini after she said it wasn't possible to get it at the time I asked. 7 min later she said it was being prepared. I'm not sure what I drank, but it tasted like stale Starbucks with something disgusting on top. Not even sweet. Dishes were lackluster despite an exciting menu. 10/10 would recommend you checking this place out. I found it on social media. It has the waterfront views and its outdoor set up with sofas and tables. They also have an indoor restaurant and huge bar area. I didn't have a reservation but was able to seat at the outdoor bar area. The service was great and helpful when deciding between drinks. They have an extensive drink menu and Mediterranean food menu as well. I got the following drinks: Melon chili, light and refreshing the melon was just a garnish and not really tasted in the drink. There was a chili taste and Smokey element as well. Watermelon rhubarb, was a watermelon refresher with a feta cheese cream top. Very light and refreshing Baklava was their take on an old fashioned. First time visiting for a friend's birthday and overall we had a mixed experience. The drinks were great and the food was honestly amazing, everything we ordered was flavorful and well done! The restaurant itself is super cute and has such a fun vibe, which made it a great spot to celebrate. That said, the service really didn't match the rest of the experience. We had to wait a long time just to get our drink order in, and throughout the night it felt like we weren't being checked on or taken care of consistently. For how much we ended up spending on dinner and drinks, I expected a higher level of service. I felt very rushed when we were able to get the waitresses attention. I'd definitely come back for the food and atmosphere, but I really hope the service improves because that was the biggest downside of the night. read more

I'll start this by saying: Marcelino's is a tough one to review. It's a beautiful space with quality drinks and food in a prime location, but it's real expensive, and takes itself pretty seriously. We stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. There's a bouncer at the front door and while there was no line at 7pm when we arrived, by the time we left there was a substantial line (velvet ropes and all) of people dressed to the nines waiting to get it. The restaurant is really luxurious and vibey but super small - though I think the back room has a DJ that was drawing this crowd in. At its core, Marcelino's is a cocktail bar. The drink menu is all designed around the flavor profiles and ingredients. Some of our favorites were the classic dirty martini, Oregano/Tomato, and Basil. There were some great flavors and everything was perfectly balanced, but at $20-$30 per cocktail, you'd expect nothing less. There's also a full menu of mediterranean small plates (at full entree prices...). Everything we tried was delicious, but with a group of 4, it was really hard to order enough to fill everyone up without spending a fortune. Our waitress was really helpful and the service all around was great, I just probably wouldn't visit for a meal again. It's more of a drinks and a light snack spot for a special occasion in my opinion. Restaurants like this have been popping up more and more to fill a hole in the nightlife scene in Boston (such a casual city), but you're really paying for the decor, location, and IG photos, rather than the actual meal. Very pricey though (~$20/cocktail) and some places I think it's worth it but I wasn't blown away by these. Very good but not worth that price. Drinks, hummus, and the fattoush salad were absolutely divine--truly the standout stars of the meal. The flavors were incredibly vibrant and well-balanced, and honestly, some of the best we've had. We would 100% come back just for the small plates and drinks. The atmosphere added to the experience too--intimate, quieter than a typical bar, with a beautifully designed interior and a great vibe. That said, the tuna and chicken dishes didn't quite live up to the same standard. After such a strong start with the hummus and salad, we had high expectations. I really wanted to like this place but this bathroom was so disgusting. We got there at 550 for our reservation and went into the restroom while waiting. It was a mess so I told the hostess who said they would get someone in there. These pictures are from 2 hours later. No toilet paper anywhere. Someone had brought more paper towels in, but the place was trashed. For the amount of money spent here for a nice meal, I'd like to think they could clean it better. Lamb chops were amazing! I'd come back to eat this. It smelled incredible walking in. The view is beautiful from the high tops by the railing. I felt like sitting inside or on the regular tables on the patio had an obstructed view. Service was super slow and inattentive on a Tuesday evening. I can't imagine what this would be like on a busier day. I agree the pricing is high. I had a mid cocktail for over $23 with the taxes included. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. I have never once written a review before, because until this experience, no restaurant had ever shocked me enough to deserve one. Congratulations to Marcelino's for finally changing that. My friends and I arrived for our 7:30 PM reservation to celebrate a bachelor party. The reservation had been booked nearly two weeks in advance--the earliest possible opportunity. The groom was wearing Burberry pants, and the "gentleman" at the front refused to let him inside because of them, though he refused to explain what exactly was wrong with them. Instead, the bouncer directed us to a clothing store around the corner where, according to him, the groom could buy pants that would make him "look decent." Before leaving, we specifically confirmed with him that everyone else in our group was dressed appropriately. He assured us they were. The second we walked into the store, the salesperson immediately knew Marcelino's had sent us. Apparently this happens often enough that no explanation was necessary. $120 later, our friend was wearing brand-new NONREFUNDABLE pants--the salesperson made a point of emphasizing that fact, which certainly didn't make the whole arrangement feel suspicious at all. We returned to Marcelino's roughly 20 minutes later, now late to a reservation we had originally arrived early for, only for the bouncer to suddenly decide that two other members of our party were also not dressed appropriately. When we reminded him that he had already confirmed everyone else was fine, he flatly denied ever saying it. At that point, we asked for the manager and demanded to be seated. After some "deliberation," they graciously decided to allow us inside. However, despite our reservation, they still didn't have our table available. Instead, they shoved us into an overcrowded bar area where waiters struggled to squeeze past us and everyone felt claustrophobic and uncomfortable. Several members of our party literally chose to stand in the bathroom because, somehow, being surrounded by ACTUAL defecation and urination was more pleasant than being in the overcrowded bar-area they had shoved us into. By 8:00 PM--half an hour after our reservation time--we were finally seated. The food itself was aggressively mediocre. To be fair, our waitress was kind and attentive, and she consistently refilled our water glasses. That was about the only positive aspect of the evening, and frankly, the same level of service could have been achieved at a McDonald's. We had an amazing weekend in Boston, with the sole exception of our visit to Marcelino's Seaport. I would genuinely rather relive the funeral of my only son than ever return to this establishment. The Bouncer working the front door on Saturday, May 25th, 2026 at 7:30 PM was truthfully one of the most unpleasant people I have ever encountered. I wish I'd gotten an impromptu prostate exam rather than coming here. Honestly. I'm not even joking. If you're visiting Boston to celebrate a special occasion, go to O Ya. The service is infinitely better, the food is above and beyond, and you don't get treated like trash. The only people I would recommend Marcelino's to are sadists. Came here late on a Sunday night after dinner for drinks. Immediately, when I walk in, a lady tells me that I have to try one of the cocktails. It was this half coffee half citrus drink - definitely something I haven't had before, and I ordered another after I finished it. I had a wonderful time here. It was completely packed when I arrived, but managed to snag two seats at the bar. I would highly encourage people to get a reservation before arriving. Bartender and staff were friendly, warm and walked us through the menu. The cocktails were outstanding, well-balanced and creative. They reminded me a lot of the (now closed) Good Company Cocktail Bar - whereas the closer resemble a particular dish (like the Baklava Cocktail). The food was good. 4/5 for me. The tartare was is one of the better tartare's in Boston and was particularly impressive. That said, as a restaurant - I don't think is worth going out of your way for. But as a bar with snacks, this hits the spot. The restaurant is beautifully decorated which helps. I'm not going to ding any stars for this - but I do think the place has a bit of an identity crisis. Yes, the menu is cohesive and work beautifully with the drinks. But I was confused about why they hired a DJ? The place is loud enough, it's completely seated, it's too small to be a club and there's certainly no room to dance. That whole aspect could've been replaced with a Spotify Playlist, and been 10-15% quieter. Funny thing is that the DJ was pretty good, just unnecessary. I have a feeling this was a "Friday night" thing, so I may most recommend here on a weekday. All this aside, in a Seaport full of *meh* bars and restaurants - Marcelino's is a welcomed addition. There's still some kinks to work out - which is fine, I don't think they've had a grand opening yet - so I'm excited to see what'll be like in 6 months. Looking forward to coming back. read more

I mind you, I saw no posted dress code and nobody said anything when we walked in. (I was wearing sweatpants, a full Alo set for that matter). All this to say, we spent a fair amount on dinner and drinks, the manager Ian was so kind, but it only takes one negative person/experience to ruin a night out.
