Truly a great neighborhood spot! Loved the vibes of the restaurant and they were so accommodating despite our party's dietary restrictions. We ended up with quite a protein-heavy meal (deviled-eggs, lettuce-wrapped burger, and salmon crudo) and everything was delicious with generous pourings of wine. I really enjoyed this dinner and would love to go again to try more things off the menu.

The menu is nothing super special. The Exotic Escape cocktail was very good and the smash burger had a generous helping of meat, although other than grilled onions and cheese didn't have anything else on it. The service team seem to have a good thing going on which is nice. They must still be working out kinks early on as the website isn't live and I had some issue with their waitlist. I put my name and number down (and confirmed this) as there was a 1 hour wait (they don't take reservations). More than 1 hour passed and we didn't hear back despite me checking my phone religiously so we walked back to check to which they said our spot was given up because we never responded to their text (which I never got). Fortunately there were seats by that time but we tried letting them know we definitely didn't receive a text and were just met with a "too bad" attitude / disbelief.

Came here without a reservation on a weekday and we were able to get in right away. We had the leek and spinach dip, burger and Caesar salad. Everything was solid and I would come back! I was a tiny bit let down by the burger though because I heard it was the best burger in Boston. I was good but didn't amaze me!

Went to Louis Corner in the South End for brunch and it was super cute inside, seriously such a pretty space. They don't take reservations so it's walk-in only, but luckily it seemed to be a slow Sunday for them and didn't have to wait! I ordered the lobster roll, which was good but definitely not the best I've had in the area. My friends got the avocado toast and smoked salmon Benedict and they liked theirs a lot. The cocktails were the real win though especially the Emerald Espresso. Overall, a solid brunch spot with great drinks and a gorgeous vibe. I love all the restaurants in this group (Ilona, Desnuda, Gigi) so it was nice to try out their new spot!

Charming new gastropub in the South End. Friendly service and tasty food with very reasonably-priced classics from roasted chicken to fish and chips and mac and cheese.

This is a cute spot, but I had a bit of a hectic experience landing a table! I wish they accepted reservations. Unfortunately when I tried to do walk in it was over two hour wait. So we hopped to desnuda and had a full experience there and came back but still no table ready for us. It ended up being about 2.5 hour wait all in all. The prices were very good and the ambiance was nice. But the food and drink was nothing to write home about. The long wait had me expecting something really incredible but it was just okay. If I had been able to book a res and walk right in this would have been a five star experience for me.

Great new Gastropub in the neighborhood with open windows and a retro decor. Brunch was relaxing and delicious. We had the fried oysters & the Rockefeller oysters (fried was better of course), shrimp grits & the kale salad with shrimp. The shrimps were huge and succulent. The drinks were top notch and the bar looks so inviting that we have to come back for more cocktails soon. Service was impeccable especially for a new restaurant. They know what they're doing.

Delicious brunch, yummy cocktails and super friendly staff. We sat at the bar for brunch and didn't want to leave!

We went for brunch, the food was phenomenal, cocktails were unique and delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome, super friendly and fun staff! Cute ambiance with all the windows open, honestly we didn't want to leave! Would highly recommend Bloody Mary, espresso martini, crab benny and corn beef hash. Yum!

You can immediately tell this place takes pride in what they do, especially when you see the chefs in action. Watching them work with the freshly made dough and expertly handle the pizza oven added such a fun and authentic touch to the experience. The food was absolutely incredible. The pizza was hands down one of the best we've had--perfectly crisp crust, fresh ingredients, and full of flavor in every bite. We also ordered the cucumber salad, which was refreshing, light, and the perfect complement to the richness of the pizza. Everything about our visit felt thoughtfully done, from the quality of the food to the energy of the space. If you're in Boston and looking for a spot with amazing pizza, fresh ingredients, and a great vibe, The Salty Pig is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back! While the kitchen delivered a solid meal, the service was so profoundly disappointing that it completely overshadowed the food. The culinary side of things easily earns a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. We ordered a wide variety of items to share, and the highlights included: * The Pizzas: Creative flavor combinations with fresh, high-quality toppings and fantastic crusts. * The Bucatini Pasta: Perfectly cooked and packed with rich flavor. * The Asparagus Appetizer & The Chicken Milanese: Both executed well, flavorful, and cooked to a high standard. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience was uniformly horrible. For a large party, hospitality can make or break the night, and our server missed the mark at every single turn: * Argumentative & Dismissive: He actively argued with our host regarding an appetizer that had been ordered in advance. When asked about vegetarian substitutions for a sold-out pasta dish, he curtly replied, "Pasta with butter is all we can do"--despite the fact that we could clearly see a wide variety of fresh vegetables being used right on their pizzas. * Inattentive: Dirty dishes piled up on our table, and when we politely asked for them to be cleared, he claimed he needed to get help and walked away completely empty-handed. Our drink orders were rarely checked on or refilled. * Rude to Guests: He displayed visible attitude and put-off body language whenever anyone asked a simple question. This peaked when he was outright rude to one of the young women in our party who simply wanted to put her order in a bit early because she had to leave before the rest of the group. It is a real shame because the ingredients and the kitchen's output are genuinely good. However, between the hostile attitude and the lack of basic service standards, we unfortunately won't be rushing back.

Cozy little spot with a pizza oven and an open kitchen (elite combo). Plenty of seating. I went for a weekday dinner and was served instantly. Started with the oyster bombs ($17 for 3) because oyster + tuna is a power couple. Fresh, creamy, perfectly seasoned with mayo and chives...gone in 30 seconds. My server convinced me to get the spicy clam, and it was devoured so fast. It was gone before he filled my water! Packed with clam meat, drowning in tomato sauce, and it actually had heat --not that "we waved a chili at it" kind of spicy. We had just cruised the nearby mall center thingy and were hungry on our last night in Boston. We saw the sites and did the things. Boston is a one of a kind place for sure. This was the choice. It was a great choice! Beautifully decorated and oh so chill inside. We have a thing that we do at places with great appetizers. We just order a bunch of those and feast. That's what we did here! We started with some raw oysters. They were very nice indeed. Island Creek Oysters from Duxbury MA. is where they came from. We love the little local Junts a lot and had them all over the northeast while we were there. We also had Crab Rangoon Dip. Very good, lots of fresh lump crabmeat, with a house chili crisp, scallions, and wonton chips. Loved it! They we had some fantastic mussels to close the deal! The flavor was amazing! I wish I could have them every single day! We also had a bowl of BPH Clam Chowder. CC is one of my favorite things and this place did not disappoint in any way! Delicious!! The server was great. This place has a handwritten note on the mirror that says, "Voted Best Restaurant in Southie for 4…read moreYears in a Row." After dining here, my thought was that it's probably because that's as long as they've been open. I have no idea if that's actually true, but that's just how good their food and dining experience is. The very first thing we noticed when we sat at the bar was how refreshing the water was. I immediately got excited for my meal because, as I told my coworker, "Any place that pays this much attention to the small details and cares about serving the highest-quality tasting table water, their meals have gotta be GOOWD!" And the award-winning tofu burger was just that. But equally impressive were the fries. And then the ginger butter and BBQ dipping sauces absolutely stole the show. They were so good that I found myself scrounging around, looking for anything left on the table to dunk into those uniquely layered flavor-packed sauces just so I'd have an excuse to consume a little more. Then came the literal cherry on top...or perhaps the cookie on top. The chef/owner made a surprise appearance at our table and blessed us with some unbelievably delicious cookies to cap off the night. What a joyous way to end an already fantastic meal. Moonshine 152 is the kind of place that gets the little things right, and those little things add up to a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Boston.

There are some things on a menu that you don't really have a choice but to order. Jalapeño crab…read morerangoons are one of those things. As soon as we saw them at Moonshine 152, it was an auto order, and they were exactly what you'd hope for: the perfect combination of a jalapeño popper and a crab rangoon. We started the night outside on the patio with those, a Downeast cider for me, my favorite, and a Battery Steele Golden Path Pilsner. Great weather, a view of the Pru in the distance, and crab rangoons on the table. Pretty hard to complain. For dinner, I went with Leslie Knope's Fried Chicken and Waffle. Somehow, I had never actually had chicken and waffles before, and now I understand why it's such a lethal combination. The chicken had exactly the crispiness I was craving, and throwing the sweetness of the waffle, cinnamon honey butter, and sriracha-bourbon sauce into the mix completely sold me on the whole sweet and savory thing. I now also understand why Chick-fil-A looked at chicken and waffles and essentially decided to make a sandwich out of it. My friends went with the burger and birria gringo tacos, and both gave their respective orders top marks. The best thing we ate, though, was the bananas n' cream gooey butter cake. Gooey butter cake always slaps, and Moonshine's version was top notch. Chef and owner Asia Mei even gave us a larger order, which leads to probably my favorite thing about Moonshine. Mei brought out all of our food herself and stopped to talk with us throughout the meal. That kind of thing is cool. There are plenty of places where you can get good food, but having the person behind the restaurant actually interacting with you and making you feel taken care of is the type of thing that separates a place. Everyone else working there was just as friendly and attentive, and the whole night felt easy. Sitting outside with friends, looking out toward the Pru, drinking good beer and cider and eating food that was actually fun to order is exactly what I want out of a neighborhood restaurant. Then I found out they do a burger of the month. I love a monthly burger. Give me an excuse to come back every month and see what you've come up with, and there's a pretty good chance I'm going to take you up on it. Moonshine 152 took care of us from the moment we sat down until the oversized gooey butter cake hit the table. It's absolutely worth a visit, and if they keep rolling out a new burger every month, this definitely won't be my last one.
