This is one of the coolest restaurants I've been to in Boston. Highly recommend coming here with a lot of people and sharing a bunch of delicious food! We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and had a wonderful experience. The service was fantastic- the waitstaff took their time to explain dishes to us and made my friend's birthday very special. It was not only dinner, it was an event. We shared a bunch of dishes: Krab Rangoon, Bang Bang Noodles, Cucumber Salad, Fried Rice, Soup Dumplings, Steak & Chicken Fingers. Everything was delicious. My top three favorite dishes were the Cucumbers, Fried Rice, and Chicken Fingers. The cucumber salad will rock your world! It's so fresh and flavorful with tang and schezuan. The Bang Bang Noodles and Fried Rice were excellent, a nice contrast between a cold and hot carb dish. The chicken fingers were golden and the steak was so tender. The only thing is that I wish the portions were a bit bigger, but you can always order more. We ended the night with their strawberry shortcake and ice cream which was fantastic. They brought out the food to us in 3 shifts so we had a great time trying everything and chatting in between sessions. Highly recommend this spot for a fun dinner with friends. read more

Had my birthday dinner here came up from Connecticut. Everything i order wss delish I ordered the octopus hands down one of the best I've had! Was thinly sliced. The steak amd the wings were yummy . We also order the white fish with some type of sauce . It was just ok. Waiter wss great but felt a bit rushed to order reservation was 9:30 apparently kitchen closed at 10:00. I went here recently for a girls night and it was a lot of fun! Great girls night spot. It's very vibey which is on brand for seaport. We got seated in a booth which was secluded from the rest of the restaurant which was nice- my friends and I were able to hear each other really well when we were talking. That being said, the music was loud and I think if we were seated in the main dining area, it probably would have been a different experience. The cocktail menu is great, and they are tasty! But small. It felt like I got 3 sips for $15-$20. They were tasty but I wish the cocktails were bigger. The food itself was okay. The only one that was actually outstandingly good was the corn dumplings and spicy cucumbers, but the rest were very mediocre. The noodles, scallion pancakes, and other dumplings were just okay. I would not get them again honestly, there are other places in boston that make much better ones. Overall it's a fun spot to go to for a girls night- it's very easy to share food and chit chat. This place was absolutely horrible. I bought 4 things and it ended up being 100$. The food is completely not worth it as the portions arr so tiny. The fried rice was undercooked. I felt like I was being watched by six waiters which made me very uncomfortable. This place is a disgrace to Chinese food and the XiaoLongBao was 21$ for four small dumplings! Of all the restaurants we tried during our recent trip to Boston, Mr. H was our favorite. My husband was skeptical about trying it as he thought some of the menu items were unusual. When he took a closer look, he saw that many items were worth trying. The ambiance definitely says "Chinese restaurant" in an upscale sort of way. Mr. H serves small plates (think "Chinese tapas"). We went on a weeknight when they open at 5 p.m. and were immediately seated and greeted. Our server was friendly, efficient, and well-versed regarding the menu. He told us that for two people, three to four small plates would be just right. We quickly found ourselves in agreement on which three items to order. There's a section of the menu that lists Polynesian-inspired items. From that section, we ordered "Crab Rangoons" which consist of: "charred scallion cream cheese, jalapeno, hot sweet and sour sauce, sesame". The Crab Rangoons were huge! Never have I seen any so big. We were given four of them. Despite having jalapenos in the mix, they weren't overly spicy, which was fine with us. They came to the table piping hot. We also ordered "chicken fingers," which were also listed in the Polynesian section of the menu. They consist of: "Bob Lee's batter, Mr. H duck sauce, Chinese hot mustard, Sichuan pepper salt". I guess that the batter got its name from the long-defunct Bob Lee's Islander, which was in Chinatown. These chicken fingers were quite plump. I remarked to my husband that they looked like little corn dogs. They, too, arrived piping hot. We both availed ourselves of the dipping sauces, all of which were quite good. For the third plate, we got "Mushroom fried rice" which consists of: "smoked basmati, king trumpet, wood ear and shiitake, ong choy (which I found out is also called "water spinach" in Mandarin Chinese) sprouts, eggs and Yuxiang garlic sauce." This rice was amazing. It was fluffy and moist with all the flavors working very well together. After we placed our order, our server asked if we would like some hot tea. I said "yes". At first, my husband said "no" because he had ordered a Tsingtao non-alcoholic beer. When I told him how much I was enjoying the Milky Oolong tea, he asked if we could share it - of course, we could and did. This is a very mild tea that has no bitterness. We both liked it so much that when we got home, we ordered some online. It just came today, and we look forward to brewing it. We didn't have any dessert so we can't speak to that. !!! PSA: Do NOT celebrate your birthday here unless you want to pay an additional $5 PER PERSON to EAT your OWN DESSERT that YOU BROUGHT to the restaurant !!! This 'rule' is absolutely ridiculous and its the first time I heard of a restaurant charging US money to eat a cake WE brought. Just because this place is more modern and 'upscale' they think they can charge us ridiculous fees. They brought our cake to us at the end of dinner and took away all our utensils. When we asked for utensils to eat the cake, they said they would have to take it back to the kitchen and charge us $5 to cut it. So we asked them to just give our regular knives and forks back so they won't have to do any work and they refused. We were literally not allowed to eat this cake without the $5 charge. What a waste of our time. Not only denying our rights to eat our own cake, they messed up the cake when they took it out of the box! The server briefly apologized and left. Afterwards, we flagged this issue to someone else about how they messed up our cake and refused to let us cut our own cake. They ended up waiving the $5 fee PER PERSON. Honestly ridiculous. JUST LET US EAT THE CAKE. ------- on another note --------- The only thing good about this place is their decor. Their restaurant is so pretty, I love the designs, patterns, and the vibe. However, the food is just ok. They have a Chinese style menu with dim sum items, cold apps, hot apps, and 'entrees'. The server told us you might need 'entrees' per person. If you go to any Chinese restaurant you would know that these 'entrees' would be big enough to share with a whole family. But you're telling me this fried rice is suppose to only serve 1-2 people? And it comes out looking like one portion? bruhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Their soup dumplings are also lacking soup. I'm expecting it to bust open with liquid when I bite into it but its like stiff LOL. read more

After a night of drinking, my friends wanted to eat here. It was my first time and I really love the decor (don't like it dark, but nice otherwise). Hien was super awesome, I asked her to pick out a drink for me, Hong Kong Tea. It was nice and strong. Then got me the Mushroom Cheung Fun, which I was afraid to be vegan for the night, but she added the Siu Mei Steak. We were happy to get a last min rez for my hubby's birthday. It wasn't super crowded which we expected cause it was a Monday. Upon walking in the host was super friendly and the decor is striking. We were seated right away. It didn't take long for our server to offer us water. We ordered a couple of cocktails-they were tasty. The food options were interesting. We ordered the spicy cucumbers to start and they were delicious. For dinner we shared the house fried rice (I ordered the mushroom fried rice but they brought the wrong one and I didn't want to deal with it) and the chicken dumplings. My hubby ordered the lobster too. Everything was tasty. I ordered the cake to go and it was sooooo good. I'm giving Mr. H 4 stars cause of the service. It was pretty slow. I even had to ask for more water, I know - what a travesty. It seemed like there was one server for the entire restaurant although several staff were standing nearby. Another beautiful concept from the COJE group! As expected, Mr H is stunning and very instagrammable. Service was great too. They were professional & kind. They do tapas-style plates, so we ended up trying the below: 1. Soup Dumplings ($21) - Damn good pork soup dumplings but you only get four unfortunately. Dumpling Sauce + Chili Oil combo was A+ though. 2. Spicy Cucumbers ($13) - Loved these! The sauce they were seasoned with was so good, and these cucumbers make a nice snack while sipping on a cocktail. 3. Popcorn Spareribs ($16) - Delicious! They're spicy, savory and crisped to perfection. 4. Siu Mei Steak ($28) - A tad dry but good condiments. Main issue is they give you 4 pieces of just okay steak for $28 which seems like robbery. Would not get this one again. 5. "Cake-Out" Box ($18) - one of the best slices of cake I've had in a while. The lychee & coconut flavors were divine, and the cake was so moist. Beautifully decorated on the inside you are sure to have an elevated experience. Servers are friendly and helpful. All of the food came out quickly and was served family style. Popcorn Spareribs $16 Crispy boneless pork, jalapeno, crispy garlic, Sichuan pepper salt Juicy and soft, but over-tenderized, so it lost its pork flavor. It is similar to Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Oysters Mee Sua $19 Grilled Chatham Oysters, vermicelli wheat noodles, spicy bonito butter, basil & cilantro After one bite, big no no, that way too salty. When the waiter asked how the food was, we told him it was salty; he just took it away without asking for feedback. At least this dish was not added to our bill, and our waiter did not mention anything until we saw the bill. We had an early dinner at Mr. H and really had an amazing time! Very impressed by the upscale atmosphere and intricate décor--but still a welcoming environment. This is a good place to visit since it is modern and stylish with Asian flare. Prices could be better. Frank W. was our server, and he was amazing! He's super personable, gave great recommendations, and checked in on us regularly. He was also really funny. When we come back we hope we get to have him as our server again! Regarding the food--it was incredible. Everything was flavorful and made with fresh and high quality ingredients. We ordered several dishes including the Spicy Cucumbers (recommended by Frank--good rec!), Soup Dumplings, Pork Dumplings, Popcorn Spareribs, Duck Dan Dan Noodles, and the Cantonese Fried Chicken (comes with noodles and is a good portion to share with 3-4 people). For dessert, we got the Chocolate Buddha--it was fun and creative, but also delicious. The presentation was 10/10. Updating my review after having some difficulty cotacting the restaurant in the past. I was able to try Mr H, a member of my favorite restaurant group Coje, and overall it was pretty good. The drinks were pretty and enjoyable, and the scallion pancakes were delicious. Comparably, I agree with others that seasoning is a bit off on some items on the menu. While we enjoyed the fried rice, the soup dumplings lacked flavor and the dandan noodles were a bit too salty. What compensates for the food is the atmosphere and the staff. Our waitress was kind and courteous, and checked in with us several times. The interior is beautiful, and is perfect for dates and nights out with friends. Overall, I would come back for certain items on the menu but not others because I was hoping for a bit more "wow" given the price point and Coje's reputation. read more

If you're looking for vibes, this is the place to go. It's perfect for a nice out with your friends or a date, has mood lighting and great decor. The service was also really great. The only reason I didn't rate it higher was the food itself was overtly salty (Dandan Noodles) or had no flavor at all (pork dumplings). For the amount you're paying, I would hope for better tasting food. It's very overpriced, $18 for 4 mediocre dumplings. Ambiance brought this review to close to 3 star. Once in a while you eat at an establishment, mind you seaport and higher end, but feel like you lost money and leave unsatisfied looking for another spot to eat at. The service was fine, they were busy on the weekend. We were seated promptly and staff were nice. On the order ticket Bobo bass - thought the seafood was the highlights, but expecting a fillet or steaks of seabass but got little cute cubes i suppose. Dandan noodz - MY goodness my goodness, the sodium was astronomical on this dish. Mind you I usually like things on the saltier side but this was just overboard. The duck sausage was like turkey sausage consistency ground up. And the sauce (usually chili oil and pb or something along those lines) was a salty, watery mess. Fried spareribs - reminds me of popcorn chicken. I'm very surprised that it wasn't crispy but had decent flavor Siu Mei steak cooked well, tough to cut thru with knife provided but flavor was pretty balanced. Honey prawns - liked the sweet chili sauce that came with it and the shrimp was cooked well but my goodness what is up with the fried batter here, everything collapsed to mush when you eat it no crunch or crispy at all. Spicy cucumbers - cucumbers seemed left out and prepped in the morning or something. Gyu Kaku spicy cucumber better. Wang shou wings- again fried crispy wings ...: NOT crispy unfortunately. The mushroom salt and excessive honey have a weird aftertaste to the dish. Celebration cocktail was pretty good. And drinks of the night (don't remember the names). All in was close to $350 with tip. Had reservations on Saturday night for a small birthday celebration. Check-in was quick, and the place was absolutely packed. The service was quite slow, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a quick meal. I noticed the table next to us being asked to leave because their time was up and the next reservation had arrived, even though they hadn't had a chance to order dessert yet, as one of the other patrons mentioned. That was a bit surprising to see. The food was just okay. The flavors were bold, but I found it odd that they don't offer plain white rice, even though fried rice is on the menu. The ambience is beautiful, though the space feels a bit tight. One disappointment was that there was no acknowledgment of the birthday, even though it was noted on the reservation. This Asian fusion restaurant was such a vibe. From its decor to its food, everything was all very well-thought-out. The service was amazing as well. Our waitress made great recommendations and their team was very good at pre-bussing the table to remove any finished dishes and drinks. Amazing place to have a dinner party. Our group do 8 comfortably sat around their circular table complete with lazy Susan which made sharing literally the entire menu possible. As my avid readers know, our supper club goes big when we venture out, trying everything a given place has to offer and Mr. H didn't disappoint. Drinks were excellent as were the many many dumplings we tried (soup dumplings were awesome), various apps (salmon puffs wow), the various noodle dishes, and of course the highlight of the evening, the Cantonese Fried Chicken. From wire to wire this was an incredible shareable meal made even better with the lazy Susan table, and we will definitely be making our way back. Strolled by this fabulous looking, hipster spot that was, the following day, highly recommended by a good friend. So, we arrived fairly early without reservations and were able to grab a couple of seats at the "dim sum "bar". I loved the lively vibe, beautiful decor and fabulous service. The food is definitely Asian/Chinese fusion-expect interesting flavors and textures that stray from traditional and/or Americanized Chinese fare. Our server definitely made the experience even better-he was funny and full of personality. I loved the fact that the crowd was super diverse and while some folks were VERY dressed up, others were super casual (and everything in between). I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. H given the mixed reviews! Mr. H is a trendy sexy version of a dim sum restaurant. We started with the popcorn spareribs, I really enjoyed this dish. It had a yummy dry seasoning and the spareribs were tender! I do wish it had a dipping sauce. From the dim sum we ordered the soup dumplings which were really just okay. For the price I was shocked to receive only four, there was not enough soup in the dumpling, the flavor was lacking, and the casing was just okay - Definitely not close to some of the xiao long bao i've had in other places. The standout dish for us was the hot clam noodles - we weren't sure what to expect but it was delicious. The noodles were buttery and garlicky, there was a little kick of spice, and the clams were salty and fresh. We ended the meal with the buddha desert, which was super fun and aesthetic but taste was alright! I had a great dinner here! I showed up during a prime time on Saturday night without a reservation and was able to walk right into bar seating! They serve the full dinner menu at the bar thankfully. I got the lucky you cocktail - it was quite tasty and in a really cute cup. For food I tried the cucumbers, fried rice, noodles, and chicken dumplings. The fried rice was exceptional and the cucumbers were incredible too! Would definitely recommend those two dishes. The other two dishes were good but nothing crazy. I read the positives and negatives before coming here... Yes, the interior is pretty cool, ingredients are fresh, plating is artful, but the pricing is off the charts. The good: --Mai Tais, perfectly balanced, not too sweet or sour --Wang Shou Wings, the best of everything we ordered, with Thai hot honey, magic mushroom salt, tea smoke. Really great flavor combo. ($21) --Popcorn Spareribs, Crispy boneless pork, jalapeno, crispy garlic, Sichuan pepper salt. ($20) --Sichuan Caulilini, baby cauliflower with Yu Xiang garlic sauce, pickled chilies, peanuts, basil. ($21) The not so good: --tables are spaced tightly, especially the two-tops --I expected a scene, but the pounding club music is way too loud, a strain to hear conversations. --$22 (!) for four pork dumplings, dense filling and nowhere near the best I've had -- Honey Prawns, hot honey glaze, spicy doubanjiang mayo, scallion, sesame. Despite ordering near $1000 in food in 90 minutes (for a group of just 5 people), the waiter told us mere minutes after dropping off the desert menu that they had another reservation waiting and we needed to leave. We were still eating. The staff nearly wrestled the fork out of one of our hands. We wanted to order more. But they drove us out. We also ran into another group of friends who tried to get drinks at the bar. They left after 10 minutes saying the bartender there wouldn't even make time to take their order (and the place wasn't even that busy). This place was a MAJOR disappointment. If you want a good time, go to Maestro's or Grill23 (we went to Maestro's after and had a great time). Don't go to Mr. H--not worth it. Also, it's a small plate restaurant, but the waiter told us we needed to place our full order up front because the wouldn't be back much. What?! read more

The place was empty but was told that if we can leave by 530pm, we can have a table. Service was great. Staff were walking around with cast iron teapots, serving sour plum tea? The effect of dry ice was pretty cool. However, it would be nice to have more than one small pour at the beginning of the meal. Dan Dan noodle entree was extremely salty. Also not spicy at all. Ten juicy char siu slices served on top of Staub cookware looked amazing but again, super salty. They were probably perfectly seasoned but why add the extra salt flakes on top?! The dumplings (4 per order) were ok but not worth the high priced point. Elsewhere you can get premium seafood fillings for six soup dumplings. Finally one plate that was not packed with sodium was the drunken octopus. Thank you for not overcooking the octopus! The vinegar is tangy and smoky. I can drink the entire plate, it was that good. Decided to try Mr H last night for dinner. With new places, I feel like the ratings aren't always an accurate representation of establishments, especially when they are still rather new. However, I would say after visiting, the average rating for Mr H is fair. We were able to grab a table for four on a Friday night without issues & did not have to reserve ahead of time, though it was still pretty packed in there. We ordered a bunch of different items off the menu to try, including: -bobo bass -dandan noodles -fried spareribs -siu mei steak -honey prawns -spicy cucumbers -wang shou wings -Celebration cocktail, along with two other drinks So, in all honesty, I wasn't expecting the food to be the best of the best, given that it's Americanized Chinese food & not authentic Chinese food, but I would've thought that the drinks would be the star of the show. This was not our experience. The drinks were meh & we all found it pretty difficult to finish our drinks, for once haha. For us, we found that their seafood dishes that we ordered were the better dishes & everything else we ordered was very mid. The bobo bass was the only dish that we found to be very good... still pricey for how little you get though. The honey prawns, I'd say, came in second place; it had good flavor. As for the rest, they were quite disappointing. The dishes that were supposed to be "spicy", were not spicy at all & honestly didn't even know the Wang shou wings were supposed to be spicy lol. The wings had a weird after taste too, I believe it was likely the magic mushroom salt. The "spicy" cucumbers were just overly salty. Also, the items that were supposed to be "fried", were not crispy at all, like the fried spareribs or the wings. The dish that I disliked the most would have to be the dandan noodles. OMG, it was incredibly salty & not enjoyable at all. The cucumbers could've been more fresh too. We could tell that they weren't so fresh due to its lack of crunch & kind of wrinkled? Overall, meh. Drinks here are unique and fun! The food is good though some items we ordered were a bit too seasoned for my taste. Top fav dish were the wings! They were crispy and delicious. The dandan noodles were good too but very salty, and the house fried rice was on the sweeter side. The chicken dumplings were really good but expected more than 4 dumplings. I recently tried this new restaurant called Mr H which is located in the Boston seaport. We visited this restaurant on a Friday night so finding street parking was relatively hard so we opted for garage parking which was at a flat rate of 22$ and it was just few block away from the restaurant. We got to the restaurant at around 10pm and the bouncer in the front asked to see our ID's, so I assume this restaurant must be 21+ after a certain time. We did not have reservations but we were immediately seated. I absolutely loved the ambiance of this restaurant. The inside decore is exquisite. The lights inside were deemed and the overall color tone was a dark red. Our server immediately came to check on us and as it was our first time eating at this restaurant he kindly took the time to briefly explain the menu to us. Their menu has a good selection of different dishes which are mainly Chinese and taiwanese cuisine. We immediately put in our order and we opted for the Spicy Salmon Puffs ( which contained raw salmon), Pork Dumplings ( which only came with a serving size of 4), Honey Prawns, Dandan Noodles, House Fried Rice and finally Mushroom Fried Rice. The dishes came out as they were ready so we had to wait a little bit longer before all of them were served. The spicy salmon puffs were absolutely delicious, the raw salmon tasted very fresh and I definitely recommend this dish if you like sushi. Another great dish of the night was the honey prawns. They were fried perfectly and their flavor was absolutely delicious. The house fried rice was also a great dish as the rice was very flavorful and well seasoned. We did not like the pork dumplings that much. The flavor of the filling was not too good and we did not end up finishing this dish. The dandan noodles were mediocre. The noodles itself were perfectly cooked, but the duck sauce they came with was very heavy and too sweet. Lastly the mushroom fried rice was definitely the worst dish of the night. I consider myself a big mushroom lover but the rice tasted very bitter and did not have much flavor, sadly we had to return this dish to the kitchen. Overall we had a pleasant experience at Mr H and it you are a lover of this type of cuisine I definitely recommend to pay them a visit. read more
