This was some of the best pizza I have ever had. The crust was thin and perfect and the toppings were a great combination. We ordered ahead and ate at a local park and the service was quick and efficient. I only gave it a 4 though because I thought it was slightly on the expensive side for pizza .... BUT worth it because I'm not from Boston and enjoyed every slice.

Stopped by on our trek of the Freedom Trail hungry after hours of walking. We wanted something quick before we headed for the pastry shoppes and this placed smelled amazing from a block away. Service was quick for a single slice and the pizza itself was good but not great. The pizza did have a bit of a weird aftertaste after eating it about half way. The inside is simple and fine as long as it's not too busy otherwise they would likely run out of seating.

For Boston pizza, this place was very solid! I'm always looking for options for a good slice and I would put Upper Crust in my rotation. However, if you're looking for the best option in the Beacon Hill area, go to Florina instead. My friend and I ended up camping out at the counter area for a bit, but they had regular tables as well. The service was fast, which I very much appreciated. This also seems like the perfect place to grab some pizza and take it to the Boston Commons. No complaints from me!

We ordered the Harvard Street pizza and it was delicious. We split a small between 3 people and it was more than enough. Great prices and good pizza. Their cheese bread was also large and big enough for 3-4 people to share. Highly recommend. Casual local spot.

We were visiting the area for a wedding and had walked around the common for a bit. This was super close. They had a lot of neat offerings but we stuck with a small classic pepperoni. The pizza was perfect.

I just have to start off this review by saying, crush red peppers should AUTOMATICALLY be given on the side when ordering a whole pizza. Especially when it's two whole pizza lol this would have been a 5 Star review because the crush red peppers is crucial on a very very good pizza... FOOD : The figs, goat cheese, and prosciutto pizza is a must get. The sweet onions on it makes it so good. Highly recommend it! The Buffalo chicken was also good but the Buffalo sauce can be a little spicy for some. A little extra blue cheese or ranch will make it good. Overall, got to love upper crust. But please start providing crush red peppers!!

Loved their vegan pizza! I went to an event that had several pizzas delivered from here, and was very happy with the vegan option. The crust is super super thin and a little crunchy at the edges, which I loved. Would recommend.

If you love thin crust pizza this is your place. The pizza was amazing, but the fried mozzarella was okay at best. There is a place to sit though it's limited. Service was fast despite the July 4th rush hour!

Stopped in for a quick bite. There's a pretty good ratio of pepperoni to pizza, but it's very flimsy. Has a similar taste to a frozen pizza. Personally just not a big fan.

When in Boston, on Beacon Hill, and craving pizza, this is the place! Mostly take out. Limited seating. Wonderful selection, crispy thin crust, yum!

    Raw dough

I kept coming across this place for vegan pizza and decided to finally try it. I can't figure out what everyone is ranting and raving about. 1. Expensive like most have noted but I was okay with that if the quality matched. It didn't. 2. The pizza dough was raw on the bottom. When I picked the slice up, it flapped all over the place and when I bit it, the bottom was soggy and disgusting. Literally inedible. Had to throw the whole thing away. Complete waste of money.

I truly like the pizza but there wasn't much room for patrons. There was maybe a total of 3 tables and two bar areas for maybe 3-5 people. Very small location BUT the food was definitely great

The box combos are where the value really shines. You get a great deal on a satisfying meal where everything works together. The chicken is always reliably good, and that signature sauce, a creamy, tangy, slightly peppery blend is what ties it all together. It's delicious for dipping not just the chicken, but also the fries and that excellent, soft Texas toast. The fries themselves hit that sweet spot of being crispy without being greasy. A word to the wise: the lines can get seriously long, as it's a hugely popular spot. The absolute best move is to order ahead through their app to skip the wait, which makes grabbing a quick and easy meal a total breeze. Overall, it's a consistently good, decently-priced meal for when a fried chicken craving strikes. We walked into a unique space with dim lighting, stylish décor, and an energetic vibe that makes it feel like a great place for dinner with friends or a date night. The interior has a polished, slightly moody energy that fits the style of the food, and the layout accommodates both small tables and larger groups comfortably. It can get busy, so making a reservation is a good idea if you are planning to visit during peak hours. The biscuits are easily the standout item and are a must-order. They come out warm, buttery, and incredibly soft, making them one of the most memorable dishes on the menu. The restaurant is designed around sharing, so ordering a variety of small plates is the best way to experience it. We tried several dishes and found the flavors well balanced, with the shrimp and grits delivering a rich, savory depth and the fried chicken offering a crispy exterior with a juicy interior. The mac and cheese was creamy without being too heavy, and the variety of flavors across the menu made it easy to sample several different dishes in one meal. The cocktails are also worth exploring, with creative combinations that complement the food without overpowering it. Service was attentive throughout our visit, and the food arrived at a steady pace despite the restaurant being busy. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations, guiding us through the small plates format without pressure. The atmosphere stays lively without feeling overwhelming, though it is definitely on the louder side during dinner service. The energy of the room adds to the experience, and the pacing of the meal allowed us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. Prices are a little higher than average, but that is expected for the Back Bay location and the quality of the food. Buttermilk & Bourbon is a great option if you are looking for creative Southern-inspired food in Boston. The combination of excellent biscuits, flavorful shareable plates, and a fun atmosphere makes it a destination for a meal that feels both polished and approachable. It is especially suited for dining with a group, where the format encourages exploration and sharing, and the lively setting adds to the sense of occasion.

Seems like most restaurants begin at the suggested 18% tip to start. Some calculate their tipping suggestions at your subtotal before adding the taxes to your bill. This restaurant included the taxes as part of its tip calculation so be aware that you're actually tipping more than 18%. FYI: as a customer, you decide how much to tip for quality service. Bringing your orders to your table is basic. How many times they filled your water cups and check up on you are important and expected. Tipping is not automatic in my humble opinion. That combination sounds like it could go sideways, but the kitchen handles the range with enough confidence that the whole thing works. The fried chicken is the anchor of the menu and the reason most people come back. We ordered the soy garlic wings, the most talked about item, and they justified the reputation. They came out freshly fried with a glaze that coated evenly and a crunch that held. The chili basil version is worth ordering alongside if you want some heat, and the classic crispy is the right call for anyone who wants to taste the chicken itself without much interference. The calamari is a strong starter, well fried and light enough that it did not weigh down the rest of the meal before it got going. On the Japanese side of the menu, the kaisen don stood out. The presentation was careful and the fish was fresh in a way that made it feel like a dish the kitchen takes seriously rather than an afterthought. The hand rolls are solid and satisfying, though they lean more reliable than revelatory, making them a good addition to a larger spread rather than the sole reason to visit. For a spot covering this much ground, the consistency impressed us most. People drive over an hour to eat here, and that says something. It earns the trip. We would come back for the soy garlic wings and a bowl of kimchi tofu soup, and we would bring friends who want both Korean fried chicken and fresh sushi under one roof.
