The manager, Monica, was super friendly and recommended it to me. When I raved about it, she told me it is made with fresh chicken on homemade bread. About $30 ish for a large pizza which can easily feed 4-5 people. They always make their pizza fast so if you want to stop for a quick slice or a whole pie they make it really easy. We walked 16 minutes because it looked that good on yelp. We get here and they are so nice to us, great service making sure our tables are clean, they had great choices for slices to choose from. Loved the thin crust loved the sauce. They let us sit outside even though they were cleaning up for the night they set the chairs back out so we could enjoy a great experience of this part of town. Came here for a quick dinner on a Saturday night with some friends. There were a lot of people doing orders to go which I think contributed to a bit slower service for dine in orders. We ordered a slice of pizza, chicken tenders with fries, baked ziti, and a Caesar salad. The good came out hot which was nice. The Caesar salad didn't have any dressing come with it and our slice of pizza went missing and eventually turned into a small pizza to compensate for the delay which was appreciated. This is a warning to all south end/roxbury residents. On june 30th around 1pm I went to the upper crust on tremont st. I ordered chicken tenders. I bit into one and what I thought was just hardened bread crumbs was actually a small piece of hard plastic. My crown came loose and I ran from the restaurant to my dentist office, which luckily was 2 blocks from there, to ask them to re-cement my crown. After my x ray they told me my tooth was fractured and needed to be removed. I emailed the restaurant right after leaving and they not only broke my tooth but didnt even have the decency to respond to my email. No apology, nothing. I now have to have surgery to remove my tooth. A few weeks later my daughter went in to order food, and the manager refused to serve her because of what happened to me. They care ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for their customers. I've been eating here for over 20 years and when I got hurt they did nothing to help me. Please beware of this restaurant. The only thing they care about is your money. I never thought a business i supported for so many years would treat me and my family like this. There's not too many pizza joint that really stand out besides pizzas in the north end. Upper crust shut down there newbury st joint so I decided to come here for a couple slices. Pretty quiet here around 1pm , I think it's just a bad location in general with not too many pedestrians walking or spots to park. Got a couple of pepperoni slices and they heated up for me to go. So this is the second spot I have tried on my two week Boston pizza tour. It's right across from my Airbnb and I have to say that it was pretty delicious. Granted I mostly get cheese or pepperoni as my baseline when comparing pizzas. I really loved the crust. It was light and thin and overall had a nice flavor. I absolutely love the Upper Crust! I discovered it by chance 6 years ago and I've been in love ever since. I've brought family, friends, and colleagues here and they've all loved it. I've even gotten my college to order from here. Yes, the price point is higher than your average fast food pizza but it's so worth it. The crust is thin, the toppings are fresh, the staff is warm, and the atmosphere is familial. Boston is not Boston without the Upper Crust. Here is my opinion about their pizzas: OK crust, terrible skill with cooking vegetables and careless customer service. Most veggies were not cooked through well. Sliced raw tomato on one of the pizzas. On another pizza, supposedly fire roasted tomatoes though several pieces of inadequately cooked tomatoes. They ran out of basil and instead of phoning to ask what they could substitute, they told me this when i went to pick up. So what was supposed to be a simple pizza with basil, tomatoes and mozzarella now had raw sliced tomatoes, minimal cheese and no basil! I got my flyer in the mail that they changed management and they were offering the buy one get one free pizza deal so i thought id try. Was hoping for better pizza but unfortunately no improvement. The second star is for the product which at its core is solid but the service at this location has gone so far downhill that I'm pretty much done here despite living around the corner and being a loyal customer. Just today, when I asked for the side of marinara that was included w. mozzarella sticks I immediately found myself in an argument w. the supervisor who was trying to charge me extra despite me showing her the website where it was clearly included. This was only "settled" by her calling the manager who of course confirmed the marinara should've been included. My side toppings came smashed together in lids falling all over the place, an annoying mess that I would have never ordered (not even saving plastic here so why the smashed up mess?). The. To make it worse... all the toppings were placed ON TOP of each other instead of separately. I ordered myself a buffalo chicken calzone, and my oh my it was delicious! The buffalo sauce was just right, the chicken was tender, and the bread surrounding my behemoth dinner was crispy and tasty! So why only three stars? I asked specifically for bleu cheese on the side for dipping my buffalo chicken (I heart condiments), even asking if that was an option - and the cashier said it was no problem. So what do I get? Two little tubs of marinara sauce for dipping. DO. NOT. WANT. Especially since the marinara was wicked watery with a few chunks of tomato - not conducive for condiment dippage. Also the wait was kinda long - sure we were walk ins - but there appeared to be many employees behind the counter. Next time I'd call ahead. Or, order a beer (yes they serve beer) while I wait. And lastly, my meal cost over 10 bucks. Even though a boy was buying my dinner (oh hay gurl), there are other pizza places in the area that serve food faster, cheaper, and just as tasty. The best pizza in Boston could be found here! have to walk about seven blocks to get this thin crust, flavorful and huge slices that make my day every time I come over for a savory bite. Have to note that since the store management had changed the place has much more friendly employes and with outstanding customer service. When I came over with a group of friends and some of us had food allergies we were so glad to have a nice and patient cashier helping us out. Love the variety of topping you could add to your pizza, plus slices of the day hands up the most unexpected and tasty. The store has a nice decoration and AC which was soo needed all summer. It's pretty remarkable how far this place has fallen since when I first got to Boston. 15 years ago I'd rank it as top 3 pizza places in Boston. I know they got new management since then in the fall of 2020, and I've tried to give it a few more chances to get back to what they once were. The pizza I got yesterday was seriously amongst the worst I've ever had. Pizza is super thin (great) but still somehow soggy (not great) even after being reheated. So my pizza rating is slightly different as I have to follow a diet that does not involve animal products (health reasons--I love meat and cheese). I have lived in the North End for a longtime now and have experienced the best pizza Boston has to offer (don't forget Santarpios'). I now have to find places that do vegan cheese. Upper crust thankfully is one of them! I got the veggie pizza and the pesto and I was blown away. The crust was well done and the tomato sauce is extremely unique and not overblown!
