i got the snack attack, which comes w/ 3 chicken fingers, 3 chicken wings, and 3 mozzarella sticks, and fries + onions rings. for $13, it was quite disappointing. it seemed like it was frozen food that was fried after it was ordered. the fries were also soggy. i def didn't enjoy the food as i physically didn't feel good while eating it. the taste + texture were also not good. i wouldn't recommend this spot and would suggest other food spots in the area. read more

The food here is absolutely terrible. I saw a huge line out the door so figured it would be amazing. However, it was probably because it was one of the only food places open near the bars we were at. I just don't understand how you can mess up pizza so badly. There was literally no sauce on my cheese pizza! So disappointing. This was a small pizzeria. The staff was nice and the food came out in a timely matter. I tried the large pepperoni calzone ($15?), large chicken chipotle calzone, and a slice of pepperoni pizza ($3?). The pepperoni calzone was by far the best item tasted. There was plenty of pepperoni and cheese while the bread had a slight crunch. The chicken chipotle calzone was a little different. I was not a fan of the chopped chicken that was used. There was a slight kick to it with the chipotle seasoning, but I was just not a fan. I really had to dunk these in the ranch dressing that was provided. The slice of pepperoni pizza was decent. The crust was too thin for my liking. The sauce was a little plain as well. There was enough cheese and pepperoni and the slice was of good size. Will I go back? Debatable. read more

I first had McGoo's Pizza five years ago, and the experience still haunts me to this day. Admittedly, my friends and I had partook in a few beverages to celebrate the 4th of July holiday, which arguably makes how offensive the pizza was even worse. Personally, when I'm under the influence, I can eat just about anything and think it's a great meal -- but not this. My friend coined it best: "You'd have to be absolutely desperate to eat McGoo's." If presented with the choice of a quality slice from elsewhere dropped on the street or a fresh slice of McGoo's, I'd scrape that cheese off the pavement sooner than I'd willingly eat another slice from this establishment. I didn't order pizza. Instead I got a burger and fries. My bad. I had to explain to the guy on the phone that I wanted a cheeseburger on a bun.. "like a roll?".. "no.. a bun".. "like a what kind of bun".. "just put it on anything that resembles a cheeseburger".. So that was kinda weird, but when it arrived at my doorstep it looked just like it was supposed to. He even threw in an extra soda for me. I've gone in here for a slice and fries in between bars, and the guys are fun to joke around with. We helped the window-man as his spell-check for putting on the specials and the snow-men for winter, good times. Easy to stop in here for a slice and they have two slices for $5 or you can get two slices of plain cheese and grab a soda/water with it for $5. I like most of their slices. I don't think they're anything to rave about or to give a pizza suggestion, but they do stay open late and have slices. read more

I was first introduced to McGoo's chicken wings about 5 years ago. I am not a huge chicken wings fans, but I love McGoo's chicken wings. They are the perfect size, perfect amount of crisp, not too greasy and cooked just right. McGoo's also has fantastic pizza. I also recommend the speciality subs, in particular the raging bull which is a toasted oversized sub roll with roast beef, cheese, grilled onions and bbq sauce. You can eat in or take out. McGoo's has become my go-to takeout place in Southie. The guys who work there are so cute and nice! They have quick delivery and the food is pretty decent. I've had the pizza, buffalo chicken fingers, and a couple of different subs. The buffalo fingers might be the best out of all of the pizza places in the area. Sometimes the fries are soggy -- it seems to depend on the time of day you order. Pizza is on the same mediocre level that all Boston pizza sits. read more

Without a doubt McGoo's is the best pizza I've had in Boston. Lots of places here just dish out the same, greasy, sloppy pizza that has no flavor and no appeal. McGoo's makes delicious pizzas that a dude can't help but crave two or three times a week. I find myself stopping in for a slice all the time. The staff is awesome. They are super-friendly and always chatting it up with the customers. I've been given free pizza multiple times because they felt bad that I had to wait or simply because it was close to closing time or once, because it was Christmas. My man and I are relatively new to Southie and not wanting to go out one night, because we were still full from our lunch and beers from earlier in the day, I suggested some pizza and salad delivery. Found the menu in a drawer and figured why not give it a try. We ordered a small mushroom pizza and greek salad and I have to say that I was definitely surprised by how good everything actually was. Unfortunely I had a horrible experience here. I called food in and was not happy with what I received. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad and received a grilled chicken salad. The chicken was clearly kabobe chicken just tossed in Buffalo sauce after the fact. My friend ordered extra cheese on his bread less sub. There was only one slice of cheese. If you want quantity this is not the place to go. We ordered two meals for delivery. We got one fork..... not sure how they expected us to split the fork. I ordered the Chicken Marsala Linguine, however they ran out of the sauce and I appreciated a phone call with an offer for a spaghetti chicken Alfredo. It was whatever. I'm a pasta buff, so I'll eat anything with pasta. The meal was just a plain jane for me. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't anything good. The sauce that held the pasta together was... dry. The pasta sort of stuck together, and I had to grab a stronger fork to scoop some pasta up. The chicken was a little dry, but eatable. Again, just a plain jane. I ordered a large pizza and a Gatorade and it took over an hour and a half for them to deliver it. I called after an hour to ask where my order was and was reprimanded for living so far away (1.2 miles)... Oh, and guess what? They forgot my Gatorade and my pizza was completely cold. I told the driver not to worry about the Gatorade, and to just reimburse me, and that never happened. I really enjoy stopping in to Mr. McGoo's on way walk home from Broadway. The staff there are super friendly, and always make me my Greek calzone with chicken (and EXTRA sauce!) just the way I like it. While I'm waiting I enjoy watching some of southie's finest drunks walk (umm stagger) by or maybe even pop in to sit in one of the chairs inside. I'm a big people watcher and this place offers some real winners! The pizza is Ok...not my fave. But edible when I also find myself staggering by from a night out on the town. read more
