Never had the opportunity to visit the OG location in Connecticut but I must say... the food here is really legit. We've been here 3 times now and have had the chance to try a bunch of different dishes and we haven't been disappointed yet! Here are the things we've tried so far (as of 2/2026). The Tre - $16.50 (for 3): This without a doubt is one of the best values you can have here! We've tried and recommend the following: - Fried Mozzarella - Nicely seasoned and great flavor. A bit heavy (obviously!). - Crispy Calamari - Also well seasoned and the Calabrian aioli pairs perfectly. - Italian Wings - Juicy and tender! The ranch sauce is also quite good. - Meatballs - Tender, flavorful and not too dense! Caesar Salad - $13.25 - Great price for the amount you get. Their dressing is also made in house and can actually be quite strong, flavor wise. We've found it best to have it on the side and add it ourselves. The first time we had it, it was a perfect amount but the 2nd time it was a bit overpowering when they over dressed it. Mozzarella and Tomato Sauce Pie - $16.50 (small) - Their pizzas here are phenomenal. The charcoal oven is really what makes a huge difference as the flavor it imparts onto the dough is superb. New Haven Original Clam - $21.50 (small) - Great pizza with ample amounts of clams. Would also recommend. Calabrian Stinger - $22.50 (small) - This pizza is quite saucy and very atypical when it comes to a pizza. HOWEVER, the flavor is stupendous with the hot peppers and hot honey. Would definitely recommend but be warned that it's a bit droopy from all the topics and sauce. Rigatoni Vodka - $23 - Great flavor in the sauce. Huge fan of it and would recommend. Do note that we were able to sub our pasta from rigatoni to fettuccini (from the Tagliatelle Bolognese). Speaking of which... Tagliatelle Bolognese - $24 - Great ragu sauce and not too heavy! Very fresh. Sally's Burger - $17 - Good burger but nothing that special. Price is great though. Vodka Parm - $17 - Again, the value is unbeatable and you get a ton of fries with the dish. It's basically a pizza folded in half with crispy chicken, mozzarella and their fantastic vodka sauce. You won't be left hungry if you can finish this! Overall, this is our go to when a pizza craving hits. The vibe here is also great with high ceilings and attentive wait staff. Would 100% recommend. read more

Well, New Haven style pizza... figured tone to give a try. Nice restaurant inside to visit with bar. Sat at the pizza bar by the oven . Well... Wad here at the coal oven replenishment time . Oven a coal fired vs a wood fired pizza oven. The guy filling heavy bags of coal dropping in trench under was noisy and no ambiance listening to banging of coal rocks . Then the filling of coals to the right oven side looked dangerous as some hot coals fell on floor? This looks like a back breaker job lifting sacks of coal. Now? What coal... any wood fired pizza ovens adds wood smoke flavors to pizza? I ordered the chopped salad and a roasted chicken pizza. The salad was impressive , and nice presentation, but I would have preferred a blue cheese or peppercorn or a Ceasar dressing vs the oily bit spicy dressing . It was a good mix , next time I would order the other salad wedge version. The pizza was thin crust , charcoal blend and taste . I didn't think the coal added anything and wood fired would be better as I taste at other pizza spots in New England... Frank Peppes also from Ct. Roasted chicken... not much on pizza... Pizza was ok, ad tomato sauce had nice taste I wanted more cheese and don't think this coal fired New Haven pizza is anything I would buy again. I then sad saw a guy up on ladder spraying cleaner on wall to clean tile, then stick hand in the dough corn meal bin for dough? Didn't see gloves change? Why cleaning walls while oven and pizza making happening at dinner hour? Sally should consider wood fired and reduce this labor intensive oven that requires a weight lifter muscle guy to operate? I have been here half a dozen times at this point, starting with their grand opening and circling back whenever I am in the mood for pizza that actually feels worth the effort. That first night set a pretty wild tone. There were performers, including a Boy George impersonator, Donna Summer impersonator, and a saxophonist who also sang and absolutely stole the room. The space itself is lively without being chaotic. It can get loud when it is full, but it works with the energy rather than against it. Service has consistently been warm and dialed in, even when the place is packed. You notice people paying attention without hovering. The food is the real reason I keep coming back. The tomato pizza is deceptively simple and really lets the sauce do the work. I've been to most of the New Haven pizza spots I think Sally's has the best sauce. The margherita has that balance of char, salt, and fresh basil that makes you keep reaching for another slice. Pepperoni is classic and crisp at the edges. The hot honey pizza surprised me the first time and now I order it almost every visit. Both the chopped and Italian salads are solid and actually feel like they belong on the table, not an afterthought. One thing to know is that pizza can take a bit when it is busy. Twenty five to thirty minutes is not unusual, so this is not the spot if you are rushing. If you have the time, it is absolutely worth settling in. read more

I really enjoyed my time here, not only is pizza really good thin crust (not super cheesy), the other sides were so good. Caesar salad salad is a must try. The mozzarella sticks were super big and so yummy. We also tried the calamari which was great with their sauces. The restaurant was completely packed. I would recommend a reservation. We had a graduation party reservation at this restaurant, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. First, when we arrived, the staff didn't seem to know where we were supposed to sit, and they couldn't properly manage the food service. It was buffet-style, but they would place food on the table and everyone would just grab things because there was no organization at all. The assistant manager, Amanda, was extremely rude and had a very bad attitude. One of our guests asked her if they could order a drink, and she responded very rudely, saying, "I'm not your server, you need to order from them." Also, our table was right next to the entrance, and it was very cold. I went to close the door, and she told me in a very disrespectful tone that the door had to stay open. Came here around 3pm on a Thurs and sat at the bar and it was not busy. Super friendly and attentive service. Restaurant is bright and clean. Got a small pepperoni and it lives up to Portnoy's score. The young dark-skinned lady at the front had a really pleasant attitude and gave great customer service. The pizza on the other hand was BLAND, these reviews on here highly overrated Sally's Apizza. I ordered the cheese pie to play it safe and had to add pepper because all I could taste was a hint of sauce and the char from the oven. They recently opened and were packed and not taking anymore walk-ins so we were lucky to grab two bar seats. The red sangria was a generous size and delicious. My husband had a few beers. The tre appetizer was a great deal, sampling 3 of the appetizers for $15. We sampled tasty fried mozzarella, good meatballs and the very spicy wings. This came out quickly, but the kitchen was backed up and the mozzarella & tomato pie was very slow to follow. We heard our neighbor at the bar also asking about the status of his food. My husband loved the pizza! I did not, much prefer Sam Pepe's. There was so little cheese that I asked if it was under the sauce. Service was friendly and attentive. I just visited this place today. Service was excellent. The pizza was not so great for me. Extremely thin pizza crust and it looked over cooked. It was cheese with sausage. The sausage looked like flaky sausage on top if there is any such thing & there was no slices or chunks of sausage. I asked for oregano and salt due to very little flavor. Regarding portion size, pizza was big but paper thin so needed a minimum 4 slices/person to feel satisfied. Toppings were scarce for the price point.
