Pepperoni

Ordered a pepperoni pie for my hungry volleyball player to devour in the hotel room. Pizza was HUGE. Great flavor, crispy thin crust, and perfect little crispy pepperoni cups. Only complaint is that it could have used a little more sauce, but still teenage daughter gives it 2 thumbs up.

Veggie pizza
Nathan D.

I swung by here to get a pizza on my way back to our hotel. They have some unique food and it is good. Got the Veggie pizza and a hot honey wrap. Given that they don't have different sizes I was shocked to see how big their pizza is. It was so big they had to fold it a bit to fit in the box! Quality pizza though, the flavors of the sweet potato and whole garlic cloves was so good, we wanted to keep eating the pizza but it was way too big for two people. Hot honey wrap was delicious as well, though we saved it for the next day. Healthy feeling option with all of the cabbage and carrots and really filling. I'm stoked that this place was close to our hotel and the food was above expectations. I would certainly order from here again especially with a couple extra friends to help eat it.

Pizza with pepperoni $19
Alan C.

I am in town and staying a nearby hotel for a medical convention and meetings ran late on a Friday night and all of the places I was thinking to eat at had closed or were near closing (9:30-10 PM) so I was kinda stuck and hungry. Saw the decent reviews for this southie boardwalk pizza joint so I walked over and got a pepperoni pie to go. Place was clean and empty at 10:30 with only a few walk ins for the slice special ($10.50 for 2 slices and a soda) so I grabbed my pie and headed back to the hotel, figuring I'd put the extras in my hotel mini fridge and eat them later. The pie was decent and priced fair $19.00 with not as much cheese as I usually like but a decent amount of pepperoni on it. Crust was thin and crispy but not as airy as I like it and the sauce was kinda bland but passable. If you are near the convention center and need a late night pizza or slices or a Sammie this seems like a decent option and they were open until 11 PM which helped !

North Shore Roast Beef Sandwich
Matt D.

They now serve north shore roast beef sandwiches on Thursdays- cheese, horse radish, and plenty of James River. Will definitely be back for this sandwich again.

Chicken Parm Sandwich

Amazing subs! Seriously amongst the best in the city. Chicken parm was one of the best I've had. Smoked vodka parm was also amazing. Ingredient quality is top tier which justifies the higher prices compared to the many mediocre pizza places in Southie. Pizza crust is not my favorite but the toppings still make it a pretty good pizza. Don't let the appearance fool you, this is way better than most corner pizza places.

Solid pizza. Tastes like a higher end Papa Ginos in the best way. Would definitely order again.

But I'm actually writing about the company's website and phone recording. Once, on a prior holiday, and today due to a winter storm, I wasn't sure if the restaurant was open. In both cases (where the restaurant turned out to be closed), the website (appropriately) didn't allow online orders, and (more importantly) THE OUTGOING PHONE RECORDING WAS UPDATED WITH CURRENT INFORMATION. In an era where businesses barely have phone numbers to call, or employees who answer with something other than 'hello', is rare (and by the way, this is the fault of management if they don't properly train their staff). THANK YOU FOR HAVING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER IN COMMUNICATING YOUR HOURS TO THE PUBLIC. I, for one, appreciate it.

Sam LaGrassa's is a Boston legend that's lost its way…read more As a local, I used to defend Sam LaGrassa's to anyone who called it a tourist gimmick. It was the gold standard for a real sandwich in the city. Sadly, the magic has faded. Between the soaring prices and the shrinking portions, the value just isn't there anymore. You can taste the "corner-cutting"--the flavors aren't as bold as they used to be, and the sandwiches feel noticeably smaller even though the cost has increased exponentially - I mean $30 for a sammy?! It should have gold in it! Even then, I'd keep coming once in awhile if the service was worth it. but honestly - the staff seems burnt out even bright early in the morning. It's hard to justify the premium price for a shadow of what this place used to be.

I ordered a chicken salad on a croissant with pickles, onions, and lettuce and it was really good. The best part is you can pretty much build whatever sandwich you want- breakfast or lunch. They've also got plenty of drinks, chips, and treats to choose from. Service is crazy fast too. They had my order ready in no time. There's a small bar setup with a few stools and a couple of tiny tables, so you can sit and eat quickly, but I wouldn't rely on getting a seat if it's busy or if you're with a group. My custom sandwich was $10, which felt reasonable. They've been around for 32 years, which says a lot. Definitely one of those local spots worth supporting. I'll 100% be back. Highly recommend.

I still can't believe that I only just found out about the place despite frequenting the downtown area and working close by for nearly a decade. They're quick counter service and serve a few simple items for breakfast and lunch, mostly sandwiches. So far I've had the pastrami egg sub and the yahoo sandwich. They're both good, but I'd have to say the yahoo is the winner so far as far as the sandwiches go. You can order online, which is a big plus for me and it's very easy to customize items through the online ordering portal. I also happen to really like their iced coffee, too. It's nice to see that there are still simple, no frills spots that execute good tasing food at a reasonable price, and Archie's is definitely one of those spots.

It's a pretty great sandwich, actually. I like the Boss, but there are many great options. There are just two things to keep in mind: 1) it's relatively expensive (though doable) 2) the sandwiches are quite rich and salty, often relying on a flavorful cream element (truffle cream, pistachio cream, etc.) As a result, I probably wouldn't go every day or even every week. I've eaten here before (it's a small area, but does have a lot of seating) but normally I get it as take out. The cafe itself is super casual, it's the perfect place to pop into during lunch or after a walk. My food is always ready on time which is nice, and when I've eaten there I'm usually able to find a seat. The spinach tortellini with the pesto cream sauce is my absolute favorite- it's a HUGE portion and so delicious. It usually lasts me at least 2 meals. The bread they include is also great! I like to dip it in the sauce. The past time I got Dino's I accidentally ordered spinach ravioli instead of tortellini...that was my bad. HOWEVER I think I might have found my new favorite? The raviolis are huge and so fat. I'm talking like 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch thick. There is so much stuffing and the spinach ricotta mix tastes so fresh and delicious...it's a must try. I've also gotten the eggplant parm before, and the fettuccini Alfredo. Both were also delicious. I've never had any of the sandwiches, but if they are anything like their pastas then I'm sure they are great! The bang for your buck here is also great which is nice. Highly recommend!
