Large Pepperoni Calzone
Dan M.

This was a small pizzeria. The staff was nice and the food came out in a timely matter. I tried the large pepperoni calzone ($15?), large chicken chipotle calzone, and a slice of pepperoni pizza ($3?). The pepperoni calzone was by far the best item tasted. There was plenty of pepperoni and cheese while the bread had a slight crunch. The chicken chipotle calzone was a little different. I was not a fan of the chopped chicken that was used. There was a slight kick to it with the chipotle seasoning, but I was just not a fan. I really had to dunk these in the ranch dressing that was provided. The slice of pepperoni pizza was decent. The crust was too thin for my liking. The sauce was a little plain as well. There was enough cheese and pepperoni and the slice was of good size. Will I go back? Debatable.

a half eaten pizza

They have us a "buffalo chicken pizza" that was absolutely repulsive and not even cooked. I'm not sure what they even gave us but it was not a good experience

The food here is absolutely terrible. I saw a huge line out the door so figured it would be amazing. However, it was probably because it was one of the only food places open near the bars we were at. I just don't understand how you can mess up pizza so badly. There was literally no sauce on my cheese pizza! So disappointing. I honestly love every pizza usually after a night out of drinking but this was horrible. Will never go back no matter how hungry I am!

Tastes like chef boyardee. Was ready fast and delivered hot, but the product wasn't great.

I was first introduced to McGoo's chicken wings about 5 years ago. I am not a huge chicken wings fans, but I love McGoo's chicken wings. They are the perfect size, perfect amount of crisp, not too greasy and cooked just right. McGoo's also has fantastic pizza. I also recommend the speciality subs, in particular the raging bull which is a toasted oversized sub roll with roast beef, cheese, grilled onions and bbq sauce. You can eat in or take out. The inside is unassuming and simple yet bright and cheery.

Convenient little pizza shop in the South Boston that is cheap and delicious. $2 per slice and the portions are huge!

Absolutely disgusting just ordered a meatball and cheese. Cheese was hard and meatballs cold. One bite and in the trash.

Good pizza. Very thin and easily foldable which is the key to great pizza. :-) Good delivery experience.

Crust was thin - a little floppy in the middle and blistered on the edges with a dusting of cornmeal on the bottom. Didn't have too much taste to it. Space was straight up no frills, cozy Eastie that hasn't changed for a long time. We ordered online at 3:30 on a Sunday and it was ready in 25 mins. It was pretty good pizza - I don't fully understand the hype, but made my Logan pickup more enjoyable.

Even though I was born and raised in the Boston area and have resided here for the entirety of my three decade long life, I've never had the original Santarpio's pizza until just now. I remember eating at their second location on Route 1 not long after it opened, but I thought it was just okay. Ever since then I've always thought to myself, "the original has gotta be better, right?" Well, my boyfriend and I finally made our way to the original Santarpio's on a Saturday a little after noon. The place isn't much to look at but was hopping for the weekend lunch rush with almost every table full, and we got put in what appeared to be one of the last available tables in the place. Our order was taken very quickly after sitting down. The menu is strictly pizza with around a dozen toppings to choose from and a handful of grilled meats. That's it. We ordered a pizza with garlic and hot peppers as well as a steak tip skewer. The steak tips were juicy and cooked nicely, but they tasted like they lacked seasoning or marinade so I had to sprinkle some salt and pepper on them. Of course, the pizza is what we were really there for and I can tell you that it checks all the boxes for a classic pizza. The crust is on the thinner, crispier side which I actually prefer. The pie as a whole had a great color and good flavor between the cheese, sauce and toppings. After experiencing it for myself, it's pretty easy to understand why Santarpio's is so highly regarded in the world of pizza. They stick to what they know and they execute it well.

This is such a beautiful, romantic…read morespeakeasy-style restaurant with an intimate, moody atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. I came with a group of four, which I highly recommend because the menu is designed for sharing. We ordered several dishes so we could try a little bit of everything. The crab beignets were probably my least favorite and something I'd skip next time, but the seared halloumi was delicious, the Lazy Lobster Dumplings were a MUST, and the Mediterranean Chicken was so flavorful and satisfying. And then there's the Prime Rib Chop, absolutely cannot come here without ordering it. It was easily top 5 best steak I've ever had! For dessert we tried the creme brûlée , the cheesecake and the carrot cake- honestly they were all unique and great. Yvonne's is definitely pricey, but I think it's worth it for the food, ambiance, and overall experience. Come with a group, share a bunch of plates, order the Prime Rib Chop and lobster dumplings, and enjoy the night. This is the kind of place that feels perfect for a special occasion or a romantic night out.

Luckily, they have a grace period of 15 minutes so it was not a problem that we were about 10 minutes late. The restaurant was loud and busy. I didn't mind the volume but some people surely would. It's dark inside, so the kind of place that some people would need to put on their readers and use their phone's flashlight to read the menu. Over the course of the night, each of us got 2 drinks. Altogether, the drinks we chose were the Icarus, the passionfruit mule, and we each got an espresso martini. No complaints, all were delicious. We were a bit overwhelmed by the options but luckily our server was very informative. Told us what he recommends and what's popular. We went with the crispy tater cubes, the lazy lobster dumplings, the bavette steak mirabeau, and the brussels sprouts. My ranking of how much I liked them would be the steak, the dumplings, the tater cubes, and then the brussels sprouts. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the brussels sprouts, but the steak and dumplings were especially good. Beware, the servings are quite small. So if you have a large party, prepare to order quite a bit. The prices aren't terribly unreasonable for most of the dishes, but it adds up fast. We still had some room for dessert, and my wife very much wanted to try the baked alaska. She didn't even know what it was, but her interest was piqued by photos online as well as seeing other tables order it. We ordered the half baked alaska, and were both very satisfied with it. All in all, we were happy with Yvonne's. When you come in, realize that you're probably gonna be spending quite a bit of cash. But we were satisfied.
