Ernesto's was only a few feet away and was the perfect spot to grab an inexpensive meal that was not fast food. There was a variety of slices ready to choose from at the counter. The jumbo slices which would run you about $6-7, depending on the toppings, were quite literally 1/4 of a large pizza . Throw in a drink and you've got yourself a whole meal for around $10. You really can't beat it. The crust was thin and crispy. No floppy pizza or toppings that just slide off. It's not a huge space so I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group. Order take out. This is a great option if you are looking for something casual before a show, a date, or while walking around the shops. It is quick counter service, with no frills, but it delivers. I would call it a three-and-a-half-star spot, but I am rounding up to four. It is reliable, well-located, and gives you exactly what you expect. And yes, the new Superman movie was worth seeing. I came to Ernesto's just now for a quick lunch while at Assembly Row. Multiple people greeted me as I came to the counter (I feel this is rare in the greater Boston area, so it was nice). I got a slice of BBQ chicken. First thing to know: A "slice" here is actually two slices sold as one, so they are huge. It is 1/4 pizza. Second thing to know: The BBQ chicken slapped! It was totally delicious and didn't have in unnecessary ingredients like red onion. Hot and fresh and all is right with the world. This is my new quick stop when I'm over here at the mall...and for $7.50, you can't beat it. They also have a small outdoor seating area that is great on days like today. We took a look at the pizza slices to choose from and the chicken ranch bacon slice looked the best. The slice was humongous as it always is at Ernesto's and costed with one water bottle in total, $8. I asked if they could cut the slice in half which they said was no problem. When I tried the slice which also had thin slices of tomato on it, it reminded me of the grilled cheeses with tomato my mom used to make at home. Tip: The inside of the venue is quite worn and looking a bit grubby; fortunately, that doesn't seem to have any negative effects on the food ;-) The slices we ordered were pretty good, though the salad I asked for never did appear.... My friends and I got take-out as we were at a nearby hotel in preparation for Encore. As I was not involved in the ordering or picking up process, I cannot speak for the organization or time management of that. However, it was hot and fresh by the time it made it to our room. It was a thin crust with slightly sweet tomato sauce. As someone who doesn't usually go for pepperoni pizza anymore, it might have reconverted me on to it. I've never been to Ernesto's in the north end but I thought this was pretty good. The buffalo chicken I liked less but it was still tasty. The pizza here is very, very good. It may not be the absolute best pizza you have ever had, but it's up there. They have lots of varieties. I usually get a couple slices of the "Caprese" or "Old School". Those are my 2 favorites. Price may seem expensive per slice, but slices are huge (1/4 pizza). It's pretty great pizza! It can be hit and miss though, mostly depending on what flavor you get, specifically the buffalo chicken and classic tomato and mozzarella. I would ask for those to be heated in the oven for a little bit longer so it fully melts the cheese. Other than that, the people that work there are alright, sometimes you can tell if they're having a good day or a not so good day depending on how they react when you say "how're you doing today". Some are nicer than others, can't complain too much though because you only interact with them for a minute or so haha. The space itself has a pretty good amount of seating, some comfortable seats near the window especially. What makes this slice amazing is the crust. Crispy with great undercarriage. The kind of pizza I'd expect in Boston. Loved it. They took only 3 minutes to warm it up and place on cheap paper plates. It's a nice place to grab a quick bite. You get 2 slices of pizza when you order (that's the jumbo slice) it's 1/4 a pizza. Thin crust, which is always good. I failed to find that rich pizza flavor in my pepperoni pizza though, and i found that I was eating a lot of burnt edges. Also got an arancini, and they keep those in a fridge ready to place in the over. It's served in the plastic container they stored it, which is good for the environment- no waste :) I would prefer to be served fresh food rather than food that's sitting in the cold. I'd give it a go again and perhaps try ordering fresh. Not a bad place, but not memorable. If I'm craving pizza I'd go somewhere else.
