Had a great experience at Gufo. At first we were going to be seated at a booth towards the back of the restaurant, one member of our party was on crutches so we requested to be moved to a more comfortable table in the restaurant. Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave good food and wine recommendations from the menu. Our party really enjoyed the octopus as it was a tender bite with freshness coming from the peas/mint/cilantro. We also enjoyed the juicy meatballs with tomato sauce and again a hint of freshness and nuttiness coming from the pine nut pesto. We were not crazy about the striped bass crudo. It just seemed to fall flat flavor wise for me maybe not enough salt or acid to really counter balance the other fresh clean flavors in the dish. That being said it was not bad just underwhelming. The pizzas were great value price wise and the flavor combinations were unique but also worked well with one another. I liked how they didn't shy away from using spicy peppers on the Nduja pizza. The Fennel Sausage pizza had that fattiness from the sausage mixed with acidity from the cherry peppers and some creaminess/extra layer of flavor with the green garlic cream sauce. I somewhat wish the pizza bottom was baked slightly longer for a less floppy center but that's just personal preference. They clearly put a lot of effort into this pizza recipe. The only critique we would have is the service seemed a bit rushed. We would have enjoyed a bit more time between appetizers and the mains. Even the check came pretty shortly after we finished which would be understandable on a busy weekend night but this was a Tuesday evening and there seemed to be plenty of empty tables around us. Other than that would recommend for an elevated night out!
Have wanted to try Gufo for a couple of years now, and finally made it in for an early birthday date night. We didn't make a reservation so we ended up at the bar but I didn't mind. I got the after school snack cocktail which was very refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. We split the Bucatini Verde and it was so delicious. I couldn't even pinpoint the flavors I was eating but it was amazing. Fresh pasta and just really good flavor. We saw a dish online we wanted, but the server explained they use that pasta for different dishes and change out the sauce, so I'm glad I got to try it. We then split the Pepperoni + Vodka Sauce pizza which was good. I'll be honest I was a tad disappointed in the pizza. It was flavorful but I think I was expecting the same feeling I got when I had the pasta. It was good, but just that, good. Crust was a little burnt. I did love the vibes and pasta and it's definitely known in Cambridge for a good reason. I'd recommend a reservation if you'd like a table as it does fill up fast.
Outstanding restaurant! As you walk in, it feels very airy and inviting due to a thigh ceiling, light woods, and lots of live plants all around. The service was kind, prompt, and very accommodating to questions and alterations. The food was fantastic - the mussels toast was loaded with mussels, the creamy cheese app was delicious, pizzas were raved about, my favorites were the delicate pastas with rich sauces, and of course the whole sea bass was a star. Drinks were a hit as well. This is a perfect spot!
Had a great time at Gufo - such interesting and fresh flavors from the dishes. The arancini and the snow crab pasta were absolutely outstanding. The restaurant itself was super cute, and we were able to get seated quickly. Dishes were a bit pricey for the amount of food we got, but overall the food was delicious and had a great atmosphere
Really good pizza and small plates and the ambiance is nice. I really appreciated how they paced the food so my party had the time to enjoy everything and not be rushed. The snap pea salad changed my life!
I held this year's birthday dinner here. I had a good impression of Coda Restaurant Group before, and this place did not disappoint. Prosciutto: The best dish of the meal. The prosciutto slices were perfectly salty, rich in fat, and smooth, wrapped around the refreshing sweetness of kumquats, the delicate creaminess of stracciatella cheese, the crunch and nutty aroma of pistachios, and topped with a smoky touch of sumac powder. It had a rich and distinct flavor profile while offering a gentle and comfortable taste. Spaghetti: The refreshing lemon and basil paired with the umami crab meat is a classic combination. Chili oil added a touch of spice and aroma, while pea tendrils provided a light herbal fragrance. The sauce was emulsified very smoothly, making it both rich and palatable, although the spaghetti itself didn't leave a particularly strong impression. Half Chicken Milanese: A large portion, perfect as a main course to share. The chicken cutlet was thick, fried to a fragrant perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Wrapped in lettuce and eaten with mayonnaise, it brought back memories of the fast food stalls outside my school when I was a child. This was my first time trying rhubarb stems. The tangy and refreshing taste cut through the richness, and the texture was like softer celery and firmer green bell peppers - quite interesting. Duck Bacon Pizza: The most highly rated pizza online, and it was truly delicious! The rich, savory flavor of the duck bacon, the succulent richness of the shimeji mushrooms, and the mellow sweetness of the caramelized onions, combined with the creamy cheese base, made it a calorie bomb, but I still felt it was the right choice. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit hard, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Cotechino Pizza: This was my first time trying a pizza with sweet potatoes, and I couldn't help but admire their innovation. The colors were vibrant, and the sweetness of the sweet potatoes paired with the smoky aroma of Cotechino sausage bits created a full yet harmonious flavor, evoking the feeling of being in the southern Italian countryside in early autumn, basking in the bright sunshine and the satisfaction of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offered menus printed with "Happy Birthday," and the waiters provided professional cake-cutting service. Overall, a very comfortable experience.
A while back, I had seen a photo on social media of the "snacks" tray offered at Gufo and I couldn't get it out of my head - it's about six little dishes of various offerings, like smoked almonds, wonderfully citrus-y bright green olives, anchovies in olive oil and chili dust, radishes over sheep's milk butter, a wedge of cheese in fig jam, and eggplant caponata in whipped ricotta, with a side of focaccia. All this for $30! If you and your friends are in more of a nibbling mood, this is a fine option. Other great things we ordered: 1. Half chicken Milanese - I loved the layer of greens and creme on top, makes for a beautiful presentation. That said, this dish is best eaten right there at the table when it's hot and crispy. I had some for leftovers the day after and the texture definitely wilted. 2. Duck bacon pizza - can't go wrong with duck bacon but it's pretty rich and indulgent and, while I love pizza, one slice of this was enough. Next time, I'd try the pepperoni and vodka pie, which our waitress was super enthusiastic about. 3. Swiss chard Caesar salad - love that they add fish roe on top for an unexpected burst of flavor and saltiness. 4. Rigatoni - sauce had a lot of depth to it but very, very salty. 5. Cacio e pepe arancini - we ate this so quickly that I didn't have time to snap a photo. Dessert was soft serve, they're very generous with the portion. The layout of the restaurant is a little funny - when you come in, the host stand is in an empty space with the pizza oven right behind it, and then you walk a little further back into the actual bar/restaurant area. It's a pretty casual sit-down place, with both families and office dinners happening. Lots of street parking outside.
Had a great experience at Gufo! The ambiance is nice here. It's cozy, the bar area is such a vibe, and the lighting is just right. Not too bright, but also not too dim where you can't see what's going on. The tables are a little close together (especially if you have a winter jacket you're dealing with) but we made it work. I got the garden party mocktail and the rigatoni bolognese and I'm very happy with my order! The next time I come back, I'll probably reorder this again. My friend got the vodka pepperoni pizza which is clearly the crowd favorite. Looking around, you could see a lot of tables had ordered this. She asked for it to be well-done so it came out dark and cooked a little longer than usual (the dough of the pizza on the table to our left was much lighter and less cooked through). I tried a bite but I thought it wasn't juicy enough. The pizza was good, but nothing to write home about. That's probably because she ordered it well-done so I definitely want to try it again, ordered as is. For dessert we tried the olive oil cake and it was interesting. Not to sound crazy, but we both tried a bite of the cake with the whipped cream and peaches that come on the side. As one big bite it literally tasted like bruschetta. Not in a good way either. It was wild haha. We tried a second bite without going for the whipped cream and peaches and it was much better but still not my cup of tea. A great experience all around but was an interesting palette!
We loved the contemporary feel of the restaurant. It was romantic, but also trendy. You can go dressed up or dressed down. Great for girls night dinner! Although we had a wait for our table, despite making reservations, the staff was extremely hospitable and provided us with snacks complementary! And also gave us the cutest complimentary ice cream platter for my birthday! As for the food, everything was amazing! The eggplant caponata was the best of the snacks! The carbonara was a hit, with a few girls saying it was better than the carbonara in Italy! The bolognese also was really delicious and full of flavor without being too salty. Chicken Milanese was super juicy and yet crispy on the outside. We also loved the broccolini and octopus, although portions were kind of small. We also got a pizza which was really good even though it didn't quite pass the fold test. We also liked that you can order a side of dipping sauce like hot honey! Meatballs, arancini, and squid ink pasta were also pretty good. Definitely recommend!
Came for shared dinner and drinks and really enjoyed our time. Vibe: Upscale decor and furnishings with warm and comfortable atmosphere. Service: Server was patient with us waiting for our full party to arrive and us taking time to figure out what to order. Food came out at different times, which was okay as there wasn't a ton of table space for all that we ordered. Drinks: I got the prickly pear gimlet which was delicious but also very tiny. Food: Most of what we got was delicious and interesting. We got 2 'snacks' and 5 dishes for 4 people as well a one desert we all shared and it was plenty of food. We started with the robiola bosina cheese w/ preserved fig honey - tasty but not a stand out and the eggplant caponata, which was standout delicious, highly recommend. This came with very good quality bread but we had to ask for more as the cheese/eggplant to bread ratio was off. Loved: Bucatini verde - absolutely delicious, HIGHLY recommend Octopus - deliciously deep grilled flavor with tasty broth, also highly recommend Liked: Charred sweet potato - very good Eh: Snap pea caesar - could have used more dressing, the radishes were good but mostly just tasted like eating straight snap peas Cotechino pizza - way too much crust to toppings ratio and the sweet potato overpowered the other flavors making it super sweet For desert we got a "cheesecake," interesting but didn't love Value: For all of the above plus 3 drinks came out to a little over ~$200, split four ways about ~$50 per person. A bit pricey but we left full and with a little pizza leftover and some of the dishes were excellent. Overall really enjoyed eating here and would return.
Another wonderful dinner at Gufo - service was top notch, timely and never rushed, and the food was delicious. The spring-y version of gnocchi with clams, guanciale, herbs, lemon cream and breadcrumbs was a touch salty, but in a good way. Gnocchi was so pillowy and served nice and hot. Snap pea caesar had a really good dressing, but wish there was a bit more veggie dimension than just the snap peas and radish. The star of the meal was actually the soft serve, which was a generous creamy twist of basil and orange with brown butter breadcrumbs. Will definitely be back.
10/10 meal! Excellent service, beautiful and cozy interior, and great food. My favorite of the night has to be the mussel toast, followed by the rigatoni pasta and duck bacon pizza. We also got the sweet potato and prosciutto which were yummy, but I'd skip in favor of trying new things next time. Drinks were also very solid.
I visited gufo for dinner with friends and was left a bit disappointed. I believe our server was possibly new because she seemed a bit frazzled and was not very attentive and didn't really check on us. Overall, the food was also just ok. I enjoyed snap pea caesar salad but it could've used for dressing for sure. The pizzas were just fine, nothing very impressive that I would return for. The vodka pepperoni pizza was very greasy and I tasted no vodka sauce at all, it was basically regular pepperoni pizza. The Swiss chard pizza also tasted nothing like I would expect, but a simply white pizza with some balsamic. I didn't get any flavor of chili oil or lemon that it had in the description. Maybe the pasta plates are better but we did not have any.

Delicious Italian food and wonderful service! We sat at the pizza bar and got to watch them make pizzas to order, definitely fun to watch. We got a pizza and two pastas family style and they were all so good, my favorite of the night was the sweet potato pasta! It's a bit pricey with not big portions so I'd recommend sharing so everyone can try a bit of everything! 5/5 food - the nduja pizza had such a unique flavor, we also got a sweet potato pasta and clam pasta 5/5 service - quick service and very kind! 5/5 vibes read more
Visited with a party of 10 for a birthday celebration. Shared a bunch of bites (appetizers) which were tasty and the group enjoyed them. We tried a few salads which were also solid. Well-dressed and well executed. Pizzas were ok, was under impressed with the pepperoni/ vodka which sounded amazing on paper but was light on the pepperoni and on the actual flavor. Pastas were tasty and popular with our group, but to me over priced for what they were - pasta with little to no meat for $28-$30. Service was poor... our server ("Hannah") had troubles landing the hot honey to accompany the pizza on our table and it landed on me and another person in our party, ruining my shirt and pants. An apology never came and no effort to make it right or acknowledge the mistake, I guess the guaranteed tip for large parties provided little incentive for our server to provide adequate customer service. IMO, Drinks were overpriced and small (a 12 ounce draft beer for $10???). Gufo translates to "owl"... cute! Based on my experience I'd rename it "Goof-Up" because that was my personal experience. Hope you have a better experience. read more
Blown away by Gufo! We went in without any expectations and were so pleasantly surprised. The décor is clean, modern, and minimalist, with a casual but refined atmosphere. The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and the prices were fair. I was with a big group, so I didn't get many pictures, but the snap pea Caesar, meatballs, and rice balls were all 10/10. The pizza was a solid 8/10, and the branzino was excellent--10/10. My coworkers really enjoyed their pasta, too. One of my coworkers who lives nearby says it's one of the best restaurants in Boston, and I can see why! A great date-night spot. I'd absolutely go back! read more

Cool decor, especially the bar with the plants! You can see inside the kitchen and watch pizza prep in front. We had to wait a bit to be seated despite having a reservation and it was a tad noisy - but our margherita pizza was SO good! Wish we lived a bit closer - recommend! I was a bit confused which room to reserve when we booked - this is the main dining room. read more
This cozy eatery surprised us in the best way. My family and I came craving brick oven pizza--and Gufo delivered exactly that. Each pie arrived hot, crispy, and tailored to our preferences. The timing was spot-on, and the flavors were even better. One tip: if you're not a fan of herbs, speak up when ordering. But if you're open to a little herbal flair, let the chef work his magic--you might just discover a new favorite. While Gufo may not ooze upscale panache, it more than compensates with bold flavors and a welcoming, homestyle vibe. We walked, so I can't speak to parking, but the price-to-portion ratio is excellent. In fact, prices overall are refreshingly reasonable. Service came with a genuine smile, and the ice cream selection at the end was a delightful bonus--definitely save room. If this review or the photos help you out, feel free to drop a like or comment. It means a lot. read more

What's the best thing about this place is the space-- it's spacious, it has a covered outdoor patio and a large indoor dining room that sustain its customers all year long. You can walk in here with more than one friend in tow and be guaranteed a seat! Food, also good. Have I had better Italian? Yes. Gufo's take on Italian is more upscale Italian American food so for those seeking authentic Italian, look to another place. Otherwise? Great date spot, service was very friendly and we never felt rushed. read more

Street parking was fairly easily to find. Staff was very friendly ensured to check up on us. Ordered the vodka pizza and Nduja pizza. Pizza was light (not to much dough) which was a good thing and packed with flavors. I was pleasantly surprised by the Nduja as it's more of an artisan pizza flavor profile but great. Chocolate cake was nice. Overall great experience would recommend to others read more
Came here for drinks and a pizza after work last Friday. I heard good things about their pizza so I got the mortadella pizza. It was okay but only because the pizza seemed to be a bit burnt at parts and felt more like I was eating the crust. I don't know if that's how their style of pizza was but wasn't the biggest fan. We did enjoy their drink choices and my partner got the vermouth on the rocks which was tasty and I got the almost famous which was delicious. The service was okay but since we only ordered drinks and a pizza we didn't see our waiter much after which is fine since we said that's all we were getting. However seeing as the pizza was a lot of crust I would've asked for a dip for it but no worries! We sat outside and the ambiance was great. The train had run through at one point which was super cool, I didn't know that there was a train that ran. Overall, had a good time but if I went again would want to order some other items on the menu instead. read more
Great night at Gufo in Cambridge. I've been here before but wanted to take my partner. The reservation process was super easy with Resy and the host/server was great. The Caesar salad was a great start to the meal along with the whipped ricotta... we would definitely recommend! If you are gluten free, they offer gluten free crackers to accompany. The sweet potatoes were really well done and the Rigatoni pasta was fantastic. We also got the pasta gluten free and it was some of the best GF pasta we have had. The interior felt warm and relaxing, looking forward to coming back and dining on the patio soon! read more

gufo came highly recommended, so i finally visited on a saturday night after hearing about it months ago. it was packed and they had a very warm outdoor patio. the interior is nicely designed, while the patio has a much more casual atmosphere. hannah was our server for the night, and was pleasant. for drinks, we tried their kway rum punch and pandan-monium. the pandan-monium has an interesting aftertaste of cereal, and i didn't like the notes of the rum punch, it was too bitter for me. i replaced it with the smoke on the water, which was better, but personally thought they were trying too hard to make the drinks unique rather than taste good. for food, we started with meatballs and shared a margherita pizza. the meatballs tasted good with flavor and great sauce, but they were cool, not even warm. first time trying cool meatballs. we ordered the margherita pizza and it was good, i thought the crust lacked flavor but they have dipping sauces available. meatballs 5.6/10 margherita pizza 8.2/10 pandan-monium 3.5/10 kway rum punch 5/10 smoke on the water 9/10 i'd give them another chance on a less busy night, if there is one, as gufo is listed as one of the top foodie spots in east cambridge. i do have to compliment how warm the patio is, it's even warmer than the restaurant which is a plus. ambiance: 4.2/5 food: 3.4/5 drinks: 2.9/5 service: 3.9/5 gufo: 3.6/5 read more
A lovely spot with great atmosphere to catch up with friends. We walked in around 6pm on a weeknight without reservations but were able to get seats at the bar. We ordered the squid ink bucatini, snap pea Caesar, and a pizza to share. Bonus, you can ask for half and half pizza flavors if you can't decide! Everything was delicious! We especially loved the squid ink bucatini which was perfectly al dente and unlike anything we've had in the city. Can't wait to return. read more
I loved the open kitchen and bar setup. it's so fun watching the chefs cook right in front of you. The dishes were beautifully presented, and they even have a few intimate booths that are perfect for date night. Portions were on smaller side, but still perfect for sharing. Cozy spot for date nights! read more

Wow can I just say amazing service from the manager here! Our table was half hour wait from reservations so they complimented us with a free tray of appetizers to compensate for the wait. The pasta was sooo good especially the carbonara. Pizza was delicious as well and the meatballs were sooo yummy. The wait was pretty long for food so keep that in mind as the place does get busy and we had dinner at 9 ish pm. The drinks weren't bad either but nothing out of the ordinary. Drink menu and main menu is just one sheet so not many options for mixed drinks but maybe they might expand. I would love to see different varieties of espresso martinis if I could Make a suggestion Overall we will definitely be coming back :) read more

I love coming here for lunch and getting some work done at the bar. Gufo has really good pizza. And there's usually metered street parking available close to the restaurant. In the summer, the patio has the best vibes but in the winter it's been nice to cozy up inside by the bar and enjoy some great eats. My favorite pizza is one they do in the summer with mushrooms and Meyer lemon...absolute perfection. read more
This place has a lot of hype and I think it lived up to it. The space is bigger than expected given the side door entrance and pretty easy to get a reservation. The vodka peperoni slice was great and we added ricotta and hot honey which I would for sure recommend! Was a bit floppy but flavour was there and the actual crust was crispy and not overdone (i HATE when my pizza is too charred). The rigatoni bolognese tasted like my nonna's in the best way. We also got the spoja with sweet corn and it was very light and surprising in flavour.. almost like a warm pasta salad? Not much corn flavour but not bad by any means, just unexpected. The arancini was good but tbh this is where they lost the last star because it was was brutally cold in the middle, threw me off especially as the first dish to come out- luckily the rest brought it together. Would 100% order the pizza again read more
