Pepperoni and basil pizza - delicious!!

Met a friend last minute, only seating was at the bar, which was perfect for talking with the mixologist/bartender. He made a perfect black manhattan and his suggested wine pairings for our food orders enhanced the meal. We dove into the tuna tartar before taking a picture. The chopped pistachios and heavy citrus flavor is not for everyone but we enjoyed the dish once our expectations were adjusted. The shrimp toast was saltier than I liked but it was a favorite for my dining companion. We both loved the fingering potatoes, cornbread and our pizzas. Definitely worth the trip! I look forward to going back when I can enjoy the patio!

I love this pizza spot in Somerville's Union Square! The vibes here are so cool and cozy, and the food is really delicious. Definitely make reservations beforehand to guarantee a seating. I've been here twice and both times I ordered their fingerling potatoes and the like a pepperoni pizza. Their salads are good too, but the pizza is the star! The dough has the perfect crispy, chewy, and airy texture and the flavors are so good. Great spot for a date night or a night out with friends. They have a good selection of drinks as well. If you drive, there is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, or there are metered spots nearby and Somerville resident parking spots around.

Make reservations! That's the best advice I can give. Parking was pretty rough. The tiny lot was about 50% occupied by construction. Another 30% by the outdoor seating pop up. Most of the streets around it are permit only. Get there early because you could spend 20 minutes finding parking. There is a 20% automatic gratuity on every bill. Fortunately the waitress was great. I might be upset if I was charged it and the waitress wasn't good. Tipping is how customers show appreciation or indicate the service was lacking. If it's always added as a flat rate you lose that ability. The mussels appetizer was great. Loved the sauce and the toasted bread. Pizza wise: the Shuggie is your standard Margherita pie. Very good. The dough is excellent. The chimney sweep is blue cheese and pine nuts and I think basil. That one was good also. The dough was the best part. It's in a wood fired oven. Ambience is nice. The place has a good vibe. No soft drinks really. At least not your basic ones. So you're sort of guided into more expensive options. I do wish they had Mexican coke though. That's my favorite drink with pizza. Overall it's worth visiting. Due to parking I would never chance it on a Friday or Saturday.

This is delicious sourdough pizza with a tangy crust and a nice robust sauce. The schuggie has a nice basil pesto with a little kick, basil and fresh mozzarella. The crust is nice and airy so not too heavy. Service is great with 20% gratuity already added and the interior has a nice ambiance.

I had the occasion to be in Somerville for the first time in decades and stumbled into June Bug just outside of Union Square. I was reminded that it is a good idea to venture off Cape Cod more often if for no other reason to experience such spectacular atmosphere, service and food. Our starter was a roasted cabbage salad with a lemon mustard dressing, encrusted with breadcrumbs, amazing flavor. We followed that with a beet salad with generous chunks of locally sourced beets, winter citrus and onion topped with a blood orange glaze and smooth cashew butter. The finish was a brick oven pizza featuring smoked cheddar, sliced apple, caramelized onion and fennel sausage on a naturally leavened crust. Risky but flawless. Every bite was delectable. I would go out of my way to return.

Very cute restaurant in Union Square! Came on a weekday and didn't need a reservation at all. I love how cozy and colorful the decor was. Our server was great, super friendly and consistently filling our glass. We tried both a salad and pizza- both were delicious and perfect for sharing!

Wow this is such a cute and artistic place with brick walls and colorful art on the walls! We tried the pizzas: the chimney sweep and Dylan's garlic one - we loved both of them! Wood fired but the crust was so soft! For the chimney sweep, you really need to love bleu cheese or you shouldn't get it! We also tried their charred orange lemonade which was quite on the sweet side but was refreshing!

Love the ambiance inside and the pizza is definitely worth the buzz. It is a cozy yet bustling spot that is warmly lit by lamps inside that makes it a great slightly nicer than casual date spot. We tried other dishes from the menu and although they are good, they are bit pricey for what they are. The service was quick and friendly with any question we have.

Great atmosphere. Good music. Incredibly chill vibe and friendly staff. Very professional yet comforting. Came here with a couple friends, ordered several pizzas which are on the smaller side, more reason to try a couple. You have the option for crust dippers which are absolutely worth a try. Hot honey and dill ranch were our favorites. Great time all around.

Came here with reservations on a Tuesday night. It was about half full when we arrived but by the time we left, every seat was taken. For appetizers we shared Blue fin tuna crudo and Fluke & bay scallop tartar. Both were incredibly fresh and hit every taste bud possible. The habanero really came through every so slightly in between each bite of tuna. Sun choke chips were delicately thin and salty but perfect for the scallops. Unsure of the portions, we ordered two pizzas between the two of us. I found both the Dylan's special pie and the shuggie's pizza to be individually unique. As a huge fan of pesto, it was like eating a deconstructed form on a pizza. Paper thin sliced cabbage as a topping was also a first for me but with the chewy thin crust and fresh squeeze of lemon juice, it was a perfect match. To finish off our meal, we shared the Apple crisp with ginger ice cream. Can never go wrong with a warm dessert topping with a cold scoop of cream. Being not a big fan of cooked fruit, it still kept my interest. But I was certainly more of a fan of the ginger ice cream. Overall, I had a perfect experience. Our waitress was attentive, professional, and timely. Establish is eclectic all the way from their decor to their dishes and cutlery. Looking forward to coming again and highly recommend others to check them out!

We ordered online from their actual website, and the online menu was very clearly labeled and was SO thorough in explanations and checkmark boxes for variations and letting the place know about allergies and such. That is rare to find, and people with allergies always have to worry about that kind of thing, it's a whole to-do. IYKYK. If you have celiac, it may not be a great option as they have cross contamination for their pizzas. Anyways, now the grand reveal: I got a gluten free and dairy free pizza with various toppings and it was GREAT!! It's rare to find a pizza place that can fill the place of regular pizza when you have gluten & dairy allergies, but this comes close! I'm very happy with what I ordered. It is pricey, and their extras are pricey to add on. However, I don't really care as it is rare to be able to enjoy pizza for me. They also provide little gf/df marshmallow treats as a little dessert, for free. That was a nice surprise. Companies don't do stuff like this, so it goes a long way in my book! Overall, great allergy friendly pizza place, and also for regular folks who want a regular pizza. Everyone will be happy.

It was so delicious & I was surprised to have eaten everything within a few minutes as I'm a slow eater & do take me time to eat my meal. All this for $30! If you and your friends are in more of a nibbling mood, this is a fine option. Other great things we ordered: 1. Half chicken Milanese - I loved the layer of greens and creme on top, makes for a beautiful presentation. That said, this dish is best eaten right there at the table when it's hot and crispy. I had some for leftovers the day after and the texture definitely wilted. 2. Duck bacon pizza - can't go wrong with duck bacon but it's pretty rich and indulgent and, while I love pizza, one slice of this was enough. Next time, I'd try the pepperoni and vodka pie, which our waitress was super enthusiastic about. 3. Swiss chard Caesar salad - love that they add fish roe on top for an unexpected burst of flavor and saltiness. 4. Rigatoni - sauce had a lot of depth to it but very, very salty. 5. Cacio e pepe arancini - we ate this so quickly that I didn't have time to snap a photo. Dessert was soft serve, they're very generous with the portion. The layout of the restaurant is a little funny - when you come in, the host stand is in an empty space with the pizza oven right behind it, and then you walk a little further back into the actual bar/restaurant area. It's a pretty casual sit-down place, with both families and office dinners happening. Lots of street parking outside.

That soup was a work of art! I would go back just for that. Five stars for paying attention to the details, for the artistry of putting together just the right balance of flavor, texture, and visual presentation. This is way more than "a good pizza place."

The dining room is fairly small with some bar seating available as well. It was clean and bright. It took about 7 mins for the server to come over and she lead with "are you ready to order?" I guess simple pleasantries are useless anyway. We knew our drinks and appetizers order but not what we wanted for pizza yet so we ordered those and told her we'd order pizzas when the apps and drinks came. She came back about 3 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order yet. Feeling pressured, we ordered thinking that perhaps they close soon (not the case). The bartender delivered our drinks a few minutes later and about 5 mins after that both the appetizers and pizza arrived at the same time. Besides the fact that our table wasn't large enough to accommodate all that food and drink, it was never our intention to eat our appetizers with our meal. The good news is that the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The potato bombs were excellent. Crispy home fry like potatoes and the peppers had a nice heat. I would love to try the popper version next time. The pizzas were good too, but be prepared for floppy and slightly under done base crust but a perfectly charred edge crust. I find many wood fired pizza to come this way but I did see other reviews mention this as a negative. The bill comes in a small ball jar with a delicious rice crispy treat. While the jar worked it must have made it hard to see that I dropped my credit card in it, so after the waitress walked by a few times I removed the card and made it visible on the table. When the tab came to sign I was not given a pen. I should have walked out and just let them charge me for just the tab but I cannot stiff waitstaff, even when it's poor service. My only hope is that it was the waitress's first day and she somehow figures out the typical cadence and procedure involved in waiting tables.
