The hostess lacks common sense. Why would you seat a party of two in the back section where a private birthday party is taking place ? There wasn't a candle on our table and the chandelier directly above our table was off so the area was too dark to see anything, including the menu. It was so dark that the server couldn't tell how close the black table was so she kept accidentally slamming the glasses/bottle. We requested to move. Better choice. I couldn't tell if the food was good because we were both hungry. My girlfriend also noticed last night that the skinny young server with glasses did not wash her hands after leaving one of the stalls. Aren't employees required to do so? Parked at the garage behind Bambola. This place was so dark we walked past it the first time. But it gives off very low light romantic vibes. We were seated in corner between two couples it was do tight. I felt like we were eating dinner with the two couples. Got the spicy rigatoni and lobster ravioli and dirty martini. Food was good but portions were small left us hungry so we got dessert. The waitress came said her coworker told her we wanted the check we never said that ever... felt very rushed! Bambola and the Girl Next Door all fall under Bambola as one name. We actually as at th Girl Next Door. It was with the Tall Ships in town, and we were looking for a quick bite and a drink. Girl NExt Door was perfect for it, and we sat at the bar, The bartender was friendly and a few people that worked there stopped by to say hi, and check in on us. Ironically, the people next to us at the bar were complaining about everything from Service to the Drinks to the food when it came out. I was skeptical and wondered if we made a mistake. (We did not) - We had apps, and mine were the sliders, pictured in this review. They were served in an appropriate amount of time, we perfectly cooked, and topped with a pickle, and served on a Hawaiian roll. As it was hot and busy, I just went with an Ice Tea - my friends went with adult libations with no complaints, and the same with their apps. The bartender apologized that things were slow coming from the kitchen as they had a surprise Health Inspection and that slowed things down. It was not that long, and it was a busy day in Boston. The staff were so attentive and funny. In busy times, that helps. I think the people next to us made such a fuss, they were gun shy. I was excited to have another Italian restaurant in the Seaport. The ambiance was very chic and upscale which I enjoyed. What is confusing is this vibe and then the bar attached to it "Girl Next Door" is a glorified college themed bar which does not match the restaurant but that is just a poor choice by the restaurant group. The cocktails were good but nothing amazing. The problem was unfortunately the food. We ordered the Rigatoni all' Amatriciana, Cacio e Pepe, and Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino. Each dish was around $25 and the portion was about 5 bites of food. It is typical for an Italian restaurant to have larger portions for that price and these portions had left us still hungry. Later that night, I had food poisoning. I suspect the guanciale had gone bad. Very disappointing and this quality will not survive in the seaport until they figure out how to improve the food. read more

can i rate this place negative stars??? My friends and I came in just wanting some drinks and apps and my male friend was in a black tank top covering every part of his body.. besides his shoulders. We were approached and told to leave the building as it was not appropriate. My other friend and I were in much more very revealing tops (girls) and they had no problem with our tops. We tried to ask if he could put a jacket on and they refused and made him leave. As walking us out the security guard called our friend a slur under his breath as he forcibly removed us. We are honestly beyond amazed that an establishment would be this sexist, homophobic, and rude. read more

I don't really get this restaurant. My dining experience was very mediocre, and for the prices and hype, I expected much better. Drinks & Food: The Paloma Rosata was just okay. The "pita" bread was tasty, but it's the wrong kind of bread for dipping in olive oil. The meatballs had good flavor but were lukewarm. The fried burrata was cold in the middle. The veal Milanese was overcooked and tough to cut. The Paccheri had a nice sauce but came in a tiny portion. And the tiramisu was honestly gross -- the ladyfingers were completely oversoaked, and the "happy birthday" written on the plate was done with baking chocolate, which tasted awful. Service: Service was inattentive and disorganized. They brought us two entrées we didn't order and later two desserts we also didn't order. It felt like no one was paying attention to the tables. Ambience: The restaurant is extremely loud -- you can't have a normal conversation. The music was a strange mix of ABBA, Lionel Richie, and "Volare," while the bathroom was blasting Bad Bunny. It all felt chaotic rather than intentional. The One Positive: The manager was the only bright spot. He made multiple rounds, cleared plates promptly, and seemed to be the only person keeping an eye on the dining room. Boston has so many genuinely good Italian restaurants. We ate at Bambola on 8-15-2026. Needless to say we will not be back, the food and drinks were subpar. The restaurant Is beautiful but the music was so loud everyone had to yell over it to have a conversation. My daughter had the spaghetti with chicken, the noodles were way undercooked, not alienate. I had the pork loin with potatoes. The potatoes were outstanding, pretty hard to kill a potato. My pork loin was so terribly dry it was hard to cut and swallow. my daughters Mohito was aweful, soda water and mint, no simple syrup and no rum. The ever present hard working manager visited our table two times. We didn want to make a scene or be disrespectful but I explained our displeasure anyway. I'm from the restaurant industry I said so Im pointing out these issues to be helpful. He brought my daughter a fantastic martini and comped my dinner and her Mojito. As neighborhood patrons, we were stunned and furious. We were allowed inside, only to be humiliated and denied service under a ridiculous 'security' excuse. We've been there before with zero problems. To ban us out of nowhere, in our own neighborhood, is downright offensive. This was an outrageous and insulting experience. They should be ashamed of how they treat good people. They told me to F**k myself. Real nice. read more
