I stopped into Ward 8 for drinks and apps with a friend before seeing a show at City Winery. The ambiance is cozy with dim, moody lighting. The service was great as well. The cocktail and food prices felt a bit high for the sizes of them but everything we had was good. I especially enjoyed the burrata toast and the chips and queso!

TWO DOLLARS per cube of ice!!

BUYER BEWARE. They are charging TWO DOLLARS FOR ICE in drinks. My friend ordered a tequila on the rocks and was asked by the bartender if she "wanted a big cube". She ended up having two drinks and was charged an additional FOUR DOLLARS for two "BIG ROCK"s on our bill. Needless to say we didn't pay for the ice... unfriendly service, subpar food. As a note to the manager, she did not specifically request a BIG ROCK ice cube for an outrageous TWO dollars... I also noticed that the $2 up charge was not listed on your drink menu and we were NOT told by the bartender that there was a $2 charge for ONE ice cube. Who would possibly agree to that? Please message me directly.

Fantastic place. Came here before a concert and had the best dinner! Service was impeccable, and we didn't feel rushed or ignored. The place itself is cool and modern but somehow cozy as well. For food we had the burrata and toast which was phenomenal, and for dinner I tried the turkey burger which was the best I have ever had! Well seasoned, not too dry, with a fun combo of flavors balancing it out. Will be returning!

Ward 8 was amazing! The food, music, and staff was phenomenal! We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food, and the bartender was very attentive and helpful. Food was quick to come out and delicious!

Came for drinks and a little app on a thursday night and was pleasantly surprised with how cozy and warm the restaurant was. I got a hang ten which was sweet and fruity. We got the maple chili duck wings to split. They are a must try - it's sweet, sticky and has a bit of a kick. The meat was so tender and the duck flavor really came through. I would love to come back and try some more things off of the menu.

Good Food and Cheap Beers I went here at the last minute with a friend before an AEW event and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was very nice and had a range of selections. We both ended up getting the burger and it was excellent and perfectly cooked. There was also a great selection of cocktails and reasonably priced oysters! It took a little longer than I would have expected for our food to arrive but not outrageously so. Service was friendly and I would definitely go back before my next visit to the Garden. Tip: Hamms Cans for 4 bucks Thanks

Came here with my co-worker after dinner because it was close to the hotel we were staying at. We enjoyed the drinks and since we are from the West Coast (it being my first time in the area) we asked the server of any recs and he did not disappoint! drinks are strong, snacks were just ok, but the inside is a nice open space. perfect for a large gathering. it was around 11pm when we arrived i think and the taylor swift concert just ended- we saw a lot of swifties! lol

We came before a concert in August. I'm not sure if the ac wasn't working but they had the windows opened and fans on, it was so hot. We ordered a few drinks, the margarita tasted like tequila water.. made in a cute glass but wasn't fun to drink. Ordered the ward 8 bowl without sour cream and Mac and cheese. The bowl was pretty good, a lot more spinach than I expected, but carrots and broccolini were yummy.

In town for college move in, figured we'd spend a day in Boston. After taking the train in, we wanted to good food before the museum. Yelp offered up this gem. We were greeted as we arrived and asked to sit outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. Outside seating is on a corner with some shade. Fence to separate yet enough space to people watch. Server took some time to warm up, once he did, he was great! Mimosas for drinks, the top 5 best corned beef hash I have ever had, and steak and egg burrito, very good. Would we come back? We'd like to try in the evening for drinks and food!

Ward 8 was around the corner from the hotel so we walked by it 100x, and it continued to pique our interest. Small place, eminating a low key local indie neighborhood vibe. Got a dinner rez the last night of our stay. It was completely full to capacity, partly due to the nearby country music concert that night. Suddenly the North End was nothing but cowboy hats and metallic fringe. Anyway - our table inside was kinda small and barely held our drinks and appetizers. Noise level that night - 11 out of 10. Intriguing cocktail selection. I had an elevated wine spritzer with elderflower, and because I am a sucker who will order any drink with a clever name, a Scorched Earth which was true to its name. Thumbs up on both. We ordred a variety of plates including brussels sprouts and wings - I forgot what else because that last drink almost knocked me off my chair. The food was good and the service was attentive. I have a feeling we would have appreciated everything a lot more on a normal night with less East Coast cowgirls. Seems like the perfect spot for a lazy-Sunday-day drinking-brunch-on-the-patio type deal. Maybe next time :)

French Toast, Waffles - Nutella, Side Bacon

Walked in on a Sunday morning. They were pretty busy and were only able to seat us at a high top table. Servers came by quickly to put in our drinks order then came back around for food orders. 1/5 shot of espresso (w/ milk on the side) - too acidic for me. I added all the milk but it was still more acidic than I would have liked. I know coffee is acidic but I have espresso with milk/cream pretty regularly and this was more acidic than I'm used to. I think this means the pull time was too short. Its fine, a brunch spot isnt known for its coffee lol 5/5 french toast - would get this again if i were to come back. Great amount of moisture and good texture. Included the right amount of berries and whipped cream. My friend got coffee, seemed pretty standard. He didn't finish it. He got waffles with nutella and didn't particularly like it, had about half of it. It was dry. He liked my french toast though. He also got a side of bacon and was glad he did. Noticed a table celebrating a birthday towards the front of the restaurant. They had happy birthday words taped up to the mirror on the back wall. Indeed it is kind of a cute place to celebrate a birthday. Maybe it was bc it was super busy, we had a hard time flagging down a server to get the check but you can check out at the table so it was quick once we got our server's attention. I really wanted to like this place but if you breakdown the entire experience piece by piece, only the french toast was really good out of the items we ordered and service was slow. Perhaps other items are better here. The interior was nice and not too loud- decent place to chat over a meal so I give it a solid 3 stars.

My cousin and I stopped in recently for a bite to eat and a couple of cocktails before a show at the garden. If you're looking for a cute spot with craft cocktails that's within walking distance but offers a more intimate atmosphere then I would definitely recommend checking them out. We ordered the flat bread and duck wings for food. The flat bread was fine, a little dry and not exactly bursting with flavor. The duck wings on the other hand were excellent. Packed with flavor and the meat melted off the bone. Would highly recommend adding them to your order. We didn't explore the entrees but the menu in whole looked appetizing. The drinks were creative enough without being intimidating and were quite tasty. If you're an herbal lover like me then the Scarborough fair is a must try! Our servers were friendly and attentive offering great recommendations for drinks. Overall a really nice time in a really cute spot.

    Fried Chicken Sandwich

Came here for a Saturday brunch - $5 mimosas were a nice draw for our group! We were seated by the window and it was frigid, so we kept our coats on the whole time but hey it is winter in Boston. Per our waiters recommendation I tried the chicken sandwich and it was quite tasty and I loved the home fries. They were really well seasoned. The only knock on this place was we ordered 2 sodas and reminded the waiter 3 times and still never got them.

Met 4 colleagues at The Red Fox for dinner, a recommendation from a friend of my colleague. Tough to find initially and very unsuspecting upon arrival. As you enter the front door (think like walking into a foyer of a small apartment building) you go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. Then wow, this place is awesome! Small entry way into the restaurant with a hostess immediately greeting you. The bar is your first view of the place and it was packed. I'd describe it as dimly light, great atmosphere and ambience, almost a speakeasy feel. I'd recommend a reservation. The hostess walked us to our table, walking along the bar line with small 2-4 top tables to our left, we then turned left into the main dining room. 5 of us and we were seated at a horseshoe style table, plenty of room for up to 6 adults. Service was instant, she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps. The drinks arrived along with bread service. They added small side plates with oils and olives, a nice touch. The cocktails were fantastic as was the homemade bread. A unique twist with my cocktail (kettle one & soda), was the single ice cube that was a long rectangle cube that was so clear you couldn't see it! The cubes length was the same as the tall glass it was served in and didn't melt. For dinner I listened to our server who recommended the Chicken Parmigiana with a chefs twist using a vodka infused sauce, this dish was amazing! My colleagues all shared the same feelings that this meal was spectacular. Highly recommend The Red Fox!

For two straight years, my top-tier chum who…read moreliterally went to the school of hospitality and I mistakenly thought we could just wing it in the North End prior to Celtics games on the weekends and find a decent place to eat without a reservation. We were burned two times (not egregiously, but where we had to go to mediocre establishments that had seating availability for a reason), but no more. Parla isn't an off-the-charts Italian restaurant, but it was above average and the cocktail situation is excellent. I stumbled across Parla last year when we were looking for dining options, but alas, not in time to secure a reservation. The cocktail menu looked intriguing (particularly their ye olde shrub cocktail mix and match section) and the location seemed convenient. This time around we made dinner reservations about two months in advance, which I'd pretty much recommend for anything in this neighborhood if you have the ability. We came by this past Sunday before the Celtics/Timberwolves (there were multiple patrons wearing jerseys, including us) around 5pm in the rain. The entrance is a little nondescript but ultimately easy enough to spot. It's a pretty intimate interior with limited seating (maybe 10 tables or so?) and only four bar stools at the bar in the back. We were seated by the front window which was nice but again, offered at that time merely an excellent view of early spring weather. The food we had was good, and yet not the selling point - sort of a compliment, sort of not. We split the seared octopus app, which was interesting but ultimately not my favorite way to eat that particular seafood; I'm used to it grilled. We were both a little surprised to see it in salad form and had to refer back to the menu, which did mention one of the other ingredients as arugula (a fair clue). I would recommend they put the word "salad" in the official name of the app though; my guess is we probably opt for something else if we had that additional information. That said, it was fine - I wasn't crazy about the pairing of octopus and balsamic vinegar/arugula, which to me and my chum dominated the palate over the octopus, which should totally be the star of the dish. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm, which was very good - decent portion for sure and I almost finished it despite eating two other meals fairly recently. Interestingly, the best part is the sauce - it's a sweeter sauce that's thick but not chunky. Really good, and something I'd get again in a pinch. The cocktails are really something. For me, I stumbled a little out of the gate with the shrub section, opting for a mule with strawberry peppercorn. It wasn't bad but for my palate, it felt off - that's a drink I should be getting in July, not a nippy/rainy March evening. On me completely. My chum got the margarita equivalent and liked it enough to order it two more times. But I shifted to a very cool gimmick they had, which I believe was called Dungeon Master (an homage to D&D?), where you rolled a 20-sided die and had to pick whatever cocktail was associated with the specific number, no questions asked. My chum gets a little naughty with gin so couldn't risk it and had to just watch mournfully on the other side of the table as I played twice. Both of my mystery cocktails had gin in it, so...probably the right decision, at least from my perspective. I don't want to provide spoilers and damage the integrity of the game, but the nuanced layers to each drink are exactly why I love mixology/a good cocktail - the only kind of science I truly get behind. (I also liked learning about clouds in 5th grade). Very cool feature and something I'd love to make an annual tradition. Our waitress was great. She initially seemed a little eccentric/ditzy (in a good way), but it was clear that that was a mirage - she was VERY observant and at the end of the meal knew my first name for my specific credit card because earlier she'd noticed my head tilt when someone at another table used it. Really impressive stuff and a huge asset for the restaurant. She also was super knowledgeable about the menu and the cocktails specifically, and it was fun to guess what was in each of my mystery beverages with her after I took a few experimental nips. Very cool, very unique establishment. Glad to finally find a selling point for the North End.
