This place has surprisingly good food, and I'd say (so far in the year I've been in the city) hands-down the best pancakes. I've docked a star for their disposable plates and flatware. It is both environmentally unsound and to me. . . disrespectful to the food. (That said, I can see how buying, washing, and storing dishes is challenging if one doesn't have the room or resources). read more

We're visiting Boston, and we found this hole in the wall diner to grab a quick bite near our hotel. My Sicilian pizza was large, tasty, and filling. My husband didn't expect his meatball sandwich to taste so good. He said the bread was awesome too. My son, who already had a quick bite earlier opted for a blueberry muffin. They grilled and buttered it, and it was amazing! It's been here since 1982, and locals who work in the area seem to like it as well. Great foot and efficient service. I got the seafood linguine and there was more seafood especially lobster than linguine. The fish and chips were huge and my son said it was the best fish and chips he has had. My other son had the mac and cheese lobster and it was good but not great. Kinda tricky to find with all of the surrounding construction. Looks like it's attached to a warehouse. They serve breakfast, lunch and even pizza by the slice. Really friendly service. Most definitely not a tourist trap. This North Boston establishment is located in an industrialized neighborhood where it seems blue collar workers like to frequent for a satisfying lunch. My friend and I were very hungry so we both got the seafood platter that included fried haddock, shrimp, and scallops with fries and slaw. The batter on all the items was so light and flakey it didn't feel heavy after finishing it. The dining area is not super fancy but it's not supposed to be. I really got the sense this was an authentic meal locals get and the staff were very polite. read more

This is the spot to eat in this side of town. Is it a bit industrial? You bet! I walked past Boston's hardest working folks as I entered this little gem. Why is it a gem? Ironically, I discovered Pete's Dockside on my last day living in Seaport. It's definitely in a random location compared to the actual neighborhoody part of the neighborhood, but that makes it a hidden gem. It seems the most frequent patrons are the construction workers who work nearby. The menu is surprisingly broad--I ordered a few things, including eggs and a pancake (which was huge). This is more homestyle food, so don't expect any "artisinal" fruit preserves and such here, but you know that is not the vibe here so it's not a problem. My blueberry pancake was only $1.25, which is totally unbelievable to be in/near Seaport! A lady brought my order out to me once it was ready; I actually didn't realize in the beginning that they had table service. Word to the wise: The hot water dispenser for tea is like scalding, melt-ya-skin-off-for-real level hot, so be careful! The friendly guy behind the register warned me about that, which I appreciated. Grilled Haddock Mashed potatoes and gravy on the side Steamed vegetables Serving for an army and the price was $20 for plate and bottled soda. Easily could have split/shared. Was in the Seaport and looking for a breakfast spot within walking distance. If you are looking for a low key, good priced spot this is it. Not fancy as the food is served on paper plates. But the portions and prices were very good. I had the Breakfast Burrito, it was full of flavor and very good. My wife had the Sausage and Cheese Omelet. It was loaded with sausage and was great for the price. The location has parking and is located at the end of a loading dock. Definitely would visit again when in The Seaport. Staying at the Hilton next doorish and found this spot. Thank God!! We stopped for lunch day 1 and had hand battered chicken fingers, chicken cutlet hero with marinara, a cheeseburger, a turkey club and a fish sandwich. Fish sandwich? Yes! Don't miss out on the fish sandwich! It was moist, crispy, tasty and just enough. The chicken cutlet sandwich was perfectly cooked and the sauce was the perfect match. That would be my 2nd choice if not for the fish sandwich. The burger was the weakest link as a thin tough patty. The fries could be cooked longer but it was lunch time for the workers that frequent the place and seemed to be rushed. Day 2 we skipped the sad hotel breakfast (10 deep to make your own waffle) that was free to return for bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches. The hamburger roll was weak (the offer a "roll") and I would go english muffin next time but over all satisfying. Also got a breakfast burrito and after finishing that I may skip lunch. The breakfast burrito was full of meat, plenty of eggs and peppers. I got extra hot sauce and it was perfect Don't miss out on a side of home fries! Seriously get the home fries. I got a 2nd order to eat late night after going to Harpoon Brewery just down the street. The ambience is dock worker grease joint but it is a must do if you are in the area and not looking for a fancy overpriced meal. Oh, the turkey club looked great but watching my son eat a club sandwich for the first time took away from the opportunity to see if it was good. It was messy appearing. read more

Of course I found this place on my last day in Boston Well, it was partially because it closes at 2. What a hidden gem! I decided to try it for lunch. I walked in just before a rush, apparently the locals already know what's up. The staff was friendly and offered to assist with any questions. The menu is on a couple of chalk boards hanging up giving the restaurant a real lunch counter feel. This restaurant has no frills, but the food is good. I decided on the seafood platter, this included haddock, scallops and shrimp all fried and opted for sweet potato fries and mixed vegetables instead of regular fries and coleslaw. It was a lot of food and the most reasonable amount I've paid for food my entire stay in Boston. If you're close, give it a try my food was awesome and too much for me to finish in one sitting. read more

When they open at 6, you best believe all the construction workers are in line! They have minimal parking space outside. Not too large as it is a quick service. Food served on styrofoam plates. We ordered a breakfast platter with three eggs, 6 slices of bacon, large potatoes with 2 crispy pancakes. What won me over was the pancake. They are round, fluffy and has a certain crispy flavor which is unique and tastes really good. Service was okay but that pancake really was so goood! read more

It was a cold and raining Boston Thursday. Woke up from killing trivia the night before at Fenway. My wife, hurting;me hurting. I knew if I didn't find something hearty and fresh for us it would be a long day. Enter Pete's. It was exactly the kind of breakfast I love. Quick deli style. It's hard to find because of all the trucks are in the dock but it has a neat vibe with the heartbeat of America's work force working hard as your meal entertainment. The burrito I had was piping hot, heavy and full of bacon, ham, egg and sausage. Just what I needed to bounce back! I came for the food, left with a full belly of being proud of my fellow Americans. Very local breakfast til eleven and lunch spot. Walk to the counter on the right where you can see the lunch special behind glass and order there. Stand back and wait for your lunch if it's from the kitchen and pay at the register on the left side. No signs, you just have to know. Served in a styrofoam container, grab your own plastic ware and they have a drink cooler to grab a soda or water. A dozen tables or so inside, three or four picnic tables outside. I had the lunch special broiled haddock rice and veggies. The piece of fish was huge! Large portion of rice and steamed veggies as well. $11.00. Fantastic price. Haddock was broiled well and the rice was, well just rice, although it was cooked well too, not sticky or dry. Veggies were just salted but they weren't over cooked. All in all a good experience that I would do again. The seating area was pretty warm, maybe 75 degrees, but I bet that changes with the seasons read more

Came here based on Yelp due to proximity to Harpoon brewery, waiting for our tour to start. It is part of an industrial complex with a lot of commercial trucking activity all around. There is an old sign for the restaurant outside. The place is packed with local workers for lunch on Monday, 5/20/2019. I view this as a very good sign. The lunch menu is huge and cheap. The breakfast menu looks even bigger. The line flows steadily to order. We are able to get seating inside, but outside would have been fine. The food takes a little while to prepare, but it is packed and everything is made to order. I got Pete's Steak Combo with fries. HUGE sandwich and the fries were completely unnecessary. I tried one just to taste it, but I am stuffed. Very tasty mix of meat and cheese in a soft roll. Five stars. Wife got a tuna melt, daughter American Chopped Suey, which is like a goulash. Both five stars. Staff is very nice and professional. There is nothing to complain about. Five stars all around. read more

I went here before PAX for a quick bite. Service was good. The place was mobbed, but I didn't feel like we waited too long for food. My girlfriend got a breakfast burrito that tasted pretty good. I got a steak and egg wrap. I did not expect the steak to be shaved steak like a steak & cheese. It was a little dry, and the steak did not have much flavor. The eggs were perfectly cooked I did get food envy looking at what everyone else got. If I had gotten something else this would probably be a 4*+ breakfast place. An awesome and authentic piece of Southie part of Boston. It's still intact and they serve a huge Irish breakfast and lunch. All for under $8 bucks a plate too! It's a hole in the wall and kinda hard to find, but well worth it. We walked from our Seaport hotel, about 1.5 miles and I gotta say, you have to walk it to get the real experience. read more
