This is the working man's cafeteria. Nestled in the corner of a dock in the middle of an industrial area is this small place that provides a quick bite. Everything from breakfast to lunch and snacks in between. I had the shrimp platter (fried shrimp, thick cut fries, and coke slaw) and my boyfriend had the pastrami sandwich with fries. Tucked away in a loading dock, Pete's offers no frills food meant for hungry stomachs. I was pleasantly surprised by how cheap everything was. Beware of the lunch hour rush, as it can get pretty hectic. I ordered a hamburger and fries, which came out within 5 minutes. The burger was pretty good, it had a nice smoky flavor. Pete's Dockside is the best restaurant in the Seaport--maybe in the whole city. Barbara Lynch, eat your heart out. Pete's is so good I agonized over whether I should tell anyone about it, but given the amount of people in there on any given day and its high yelp ratings I figured I couldn't do much damage. Plus, I blabbed about it to my coworkers right on the first day. This place is a relic of a largely bygone Boston that my relatives tell me about. Some reviewers have described it as a lunch counter, but it's more like a cafeteria for iron workers and weekend warriors. I've been there a few times and it's always packed. It's in a busy commercial-industrial building next to warehouses and construction sites. If you don't like that I'm sorry you don't appreciate Boston's nautical and industrial history. It's not all "luxury" condos and overpriced cocktails out here, bud. The magic at Pete's is the hot lunch specials. The specials are different every day and they fill a giant styrofoam container with your choice (the styrofoam is the only critical thing I can think of regarding Pete's). They post them almost every day on their Facebook page: there's usually a seafood option, a chicken, a beef, and a pasta or vegetarian. And, they give you two sides with that! The first time I went to Pete's I only asked for rice and the server looked at me like I was crazy and asked, "JUST rice?" Thank god I just got rice, with the teriyaki pepper steak on top. Listen, I'm a big guy and I can chow it down. I got two lunches out of this. Price? $9.95, plus tax. Where else in Boston are you gonna buy hot lunch out for $5.00 per unit cost? It's almost like Pete's hasn't changed their prices since the '90s. And the quality is amazing. This teriyaki steak, to continue with the story, was so tender, juicy, and flavorful that I just kept shoveling it into my mouth. It took me a while to realize I was getting totally full. I wanted to finish every last bite and then lick the container. The cooks at Pete's clearly know their thing, have been doing it a long time, and understand the concept of incremental innovation as opposed to total revolution. Everything I've had at Pete's since then has been fantastic. The haddock, chicken dishes, hamburgers, even the pizza! All good. I'd been searching for decent pizza--or let's be honest, any pizza--in the Seaport since Sal's closed last year. Pete's is the answer. I have yet to try Pete's breakfast, but I'm looking forward to it some day. Look, I may be biased because I was born here in Beantown, but if you don't like scarfing down a cheap hot lunch on picnic tables next to a fish warehouse, you shouldn't legally be allowed to appreciate the finer things in life, like Legal Sea Foods rooftops. Such things share an affinity and history for inexpensive, high-quality products and craft that you clearly don't understand. And that's the end of my Pete's Dockside rant. The breakfast wrap I had was good. But I wasn't really that excited about the location or the experience. It was like eating in an old cafeteria on a construction site, a little dusty and crusty feeling, extremely industrial, nothing fancy. It's not exactly "dockside" other than being in the very general vicinity of the cruise port- so I find the name to be a little misleading. Not a place to go if you are a tourist and looking for somewhere cool or interesting to eat. The bathrooms are far away- you have to walk all the way through an active warehouse to find them. Food is decent but service is lacking. They are easily overwhelmed and can't handle a simple transaction. I have only limited time to eat on my break at work and they ruined that. When asking for a refund they ruined that as well because they gave me a hard time and wouldn't provide me with a receipt of my refund and they refunded me the wrong amount. I was told I would get a full refund and I was charged for some of the garbage I was given. The meal was wrong and the experience was ruined. The least I would do as a business would be to try to make it right for them on their way out the door. They will never get another dime for me and I used to go there all the time, every week. Mess up the order ok, but don't mess up the refund. Also the reason they didn't give me the receipt was because they were dealing with two other guys who's orders were wrong and breaks ruined. 0 stars for the experience read more

Pete's was pretty close to our hotel so an easy walk to stop in for lunch. I had a fish sandwich. It was fresh and very tasty. My husband ordered the special of the day. It was some kind of fish (I can't remember) and two sides. He ordered the mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was super yummy. Because of some construction it was a little tricky to find but I don't think this would have been any problem at all had we been in a car. What a hidden gem. Yelp searched breakfast options near the waterfront. Had some trouble finding it as its inside a warehouse or dock. Looks like some local guys serving up home cooking for the dock workers. Some locals have caught on too. I ordered Tony's special; two eggs any style, two meats, French toast or pancakes served with home fries. I personally like a little bit of everything hence my choice, but be warned this place is a LOT of everything. Huge portions only superhumans can consume. Maybe share with a friend. I was tasked with leading our group to a nearby breakfast spot and brought us to dockside. Dockside is a misnomer, really, because the restaurant certainly isn't looking at the dock. It was hard to find but well worth it. They sell it like it is, a breakfast place with nothing fancy and reasonable prices. The food was pretty average but the portions were great. My buddy got Tony's special (side note, his name is Tony) and the amount of food he received was insane. I ate a veggie breakfast burrito. What a find - thanks Yelpers! Fish sandwich with fries was fantastic. Perfect light breading of a fresh filet that was entree sized. Moist and flaky at once. Maybe even harder to find with new construction and closed sidewalks along the route. But well worth the hunt. Five stars for a no-tablecloth joint? Had breakfast here before a work conference because I didn't want to buy the overpriced continental breakfast. It was a short walk from the waterfront hotel area, but I ended up walking through some of the service roads with no sidewalk. Pete's is located in the working part of the docks, but it is so worth it. It had the feel of a true locals place. I had the Pete's Scramble, which is 4 eggs, several meats, peppers and onions and cheese, with home fries AND toast. So much good food for half the price of the hotel breakfast. We were the only tourists here, everybody else was a millennial on their lunch break. It was awesome to get wonderful food at a fair price with friendly staff members. It's a very busy place, fresh hot food, employees yelling out orders left and right. The nine-year-old and 12-year-old and mom and dad were all happy ,how often does that happen? I see people that try to get some greens and Mr. Pete is like, "?", because you come here to eat good, greasy food. Yeah, you will be fatter, but don't ruin your meal trying to be healthy. One of the few times yelp reviews have let me down. We had the pancake which the 9 yr old said tasted weird. A steak egg and cheese sandwich that had no flavor whatsoever. Found this gem on the Yelp app and true to form... the ratings don't lie!! This place was filled with construction workers, dock workers and cops so you know the food is good and reasonably priced! Had the Fried Haddock Sandwich, w lettuce, tomato and tarter sauce on a toasted hoagie roll. Came w choice of fries or slaw... I got the fries. Everything was awesome!! Loved the French Toast. But syrup on the table was thick but not sweet. The decaf was weak like tea, perhaps regular was normal.. Finding this hidden gem is as inglorious as it gets: at the end of a loading dock with an unmarked door. But the phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover" could not be more relevant when discussing the experience you will have at Pete's Dockside. Once my boyfriend and I figured out the correct door to get inside, we walked up to the counter and began to scan the brunch menu. Scott, the friendly chef behind the counter, said hello and asked if we had been here before (as he had probably seen us circle the place a good two times trying to find the entrance). We conversed for a few minutes, talking about the brunch menu and what popular items are. Scott exuded charm and a genuine interest in finding us the perfect options to order. We ordered the Tony's Special, subbing a fresh baked croissant instead of toast (which he advertised he would griddle on the flat top with butter, and which didn't disappoint whatsoever) and choosing the 2 French toast, which were included in the meal. My boyfriend opted for the Pete's Scrambler, subbing out toast in favor of an everything bagel. Both breakfasts were brought out to the table when finished, and both were equally giant. Tony's Special was 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage and 2 French toast (or pancakes). Here's the result: Eggs were perfectly moist, hash browns could've been cooked more so they formed a crunchy exterior crust on them, the sausage was juicy, the bacon crisp, the croissant perfectly buttered and griddles on the flat top, and the French toast Texas Toast style cuts of bread with lots of cinnamon (yum!) and that "homemade" simplicity to it. Pete's Scrambler was 4 eggs scrambled with sausage, bacon, ham, onions, green peppers, and cheese with an everything bagel on the side, griddled to golden perfection with butter on it. Enormous portion, could've been enough for both of us to eat and be very full. The green bell peppers were crunchy and fresh, the ingredients juicy and moist. The bagel was super good, having that flattop griddle yumminess to it. This place, from the outside, does not do justice for the amazing food and super friendly staff awaiting your arrival inside! read more

Tried the seafood combo, it was decent. I went in around 10 am and was told I might have to wait longer to allow the fryolator to warm up. A Decent portion of food. Fries was generously salted, didn't need to add. The only issue was the scallops being in the fryer a bit longer than it should. A good place to go if you work near there. okay, slightly disappointed here, yelpers. was guided here through yelp reviews. we had just gotten off the red eye from LA and i was looking for a yummy breakfast spot to take my parents. they're big fish eaters and i saw the great reviews for pete's dockside so why not! well, unfortunately they do not serve fish during their breakfast hours (which is understandable, my bad). eating here is kinda like eating at a truck stop. you get a healthy helping at a minimal cost. very basic foods. fine if thats what you're looking for, but meh if you're touristing around. personally, i also found it really hard to find. restrooms are also inconvenient to get to. workers were really nice though. have to pay for parking. read more
