This review is mainly for the breakfast burrito which is basically the only thing I've had from here. It's amazing!! It's got eggs, cheese, chorizo, peppers, and beans. It comes with this delicious chipotle-ish dipping sauce on the side. A little pricey at $13 but that's pretty par for the course in Boston. My favorite breakfast burrito around these parts!! The cafe area is usually pretty packed with people working/studying, so it can be hard to get a place to sit. I recommend picking up to go and then going to sit in a nearby park, if the weather is nice. read more

It's great that Pepita can take advantage of the Lamplighter space during the morning/early afternoon hours. The cafe is buzzing with energy on weekend mornings, and there's a dedicated quiet space in the back if you prefer. The food was surprisingly good, I wasn't expecting a small but mighty kitchen to serve up a great veggie burrito. The avocado was fresh, the cheese was melting, and the tortilla was crispy with just a bit of chewiness, really nicely done. I'm sure I'll get put in hipster jail for saying this, but I actually wasn't too impressed with the espresso. I had a cappuccino and it had a strong bitter aftertaste. Maybe one day we'll all stop pretending that beans sourced from random countries then roasted to a crisp make for good coffee drinks? But it was still tolerable, just don't expect the best ever. Pepita Coffee is a solid cafe for studying! Would give them more a 3.5. They have a decent amount of seating, outlets and quiet spaces to cozy up in. Their staff are also friendly and helpful. I went with their Wild Mushroom Sandwich that was packed with mushrooms + add-ins. The sandwich had a nice kick from the sauce, but unfortunately ended up so greasy that the bread went soggy. Also, $14 for a vegetarian sandwich is expensive but maybe that's to be expected of Boston. read more

I still haven't tried the food here but I've had their lattes a couple of times and have enjoyed them. The syrup flavor comes through without making the coffee overly sweet, and the espresso is strong! The place gets pretty packed during the weekends and the line to the baristas can take a while. I stopped by on a Saturday morning and it took me about 30 minutes total to wait in line, order, then get my coffee to go. Great spot to get some work done or just hang out with a book! We came earlier on a Tuesday morning and were easily able to grab a spot. It got way busier around 9-9:30am so I'd recommend coming early, especially if you're with other people. There are outlets spread out around, although some areas I couldn't see one nearby, like the seats by the window right next to the door. There are also gender neutral restrooms down the hall by the counter. I got an iced matcha latte and a pastry, both of which I enjoyed. The prices aren't too bad either. They have a lot of spread out seating and charging ports (which I appreciate) and you can see this is a go-to spot for people working on their laptops during the day. I spent a couple hours there working on my laptop - and it wasn't too loud with the great background music and good lighting. I ordered the classic vanilla latte and it was SO GOOD. It might be one of the best lattes I've tried in Mass. They have a large array of food items too and they all looked and smelled so good. The bacon egg and cheese I had was honestly incredible. Not sure why I was bold and got a matcha but their matcha wasn't great. My friend also got a matcha and hers was much darker and she loved it? Mine was milky and separated quickly. So maybe some variety on quality. But either way, I highly recommend the bacon egg and cheese. PRO TIP: Get there early for a seat of your choice. Overall, solid spot. Don't be nervous if you see a lot of brewing equipment. You're in the right place! Cafe in the morn and pub when the sun goes down. First off - polite staff and solid drinks. I really enjoyed their seasonal options and would recommend it others that a tinge of creative drinks. Ambiance is great. Good vibes. You can definitely tell it's bar at night which gives you room to enjoy some personal space. There are also some communal spaces. If you are planning to stay there for a while with an electronic that needs to be charged, you'll more likely to find an electrical outlet away from the high-stool areas. They tend to be around the wooden tables or the separated room with unique furniture. Bathroom is also available down a little alley past the ordering area. Have fun! read more

I love Pepitas coffee. The fact that it's a coffee shop in the morning and a brewery in the evening is such a cool vibe. It's the perfect place to come in the morning to grab some breakfast and chill with friends or even read a book or catch up on some errands. 5 stars for ambience, 2.5 stars for food. This is the perfect place to come and work on a weekday - it's quiet, airy, spacious, and clean! The space is beautiful and the service is great too. Unfortunately, the food / drinks are not great. Perhaps it's because the menu is so extensive and the space does so much in a given day since it doubles as a brewery at night. I tried the iced cappuccino, avocado toast, and croissant sandwich, and the quality really doesn't compare to what you'd get at a Tatte or a Blue Bottle. I loved Longfellows, the previous coffee shop in this space shared with Lamplighter Brewery, and am still a fan of Pepita, the brewery's own venture into coffee and food. Much of the staff is the same, with the main change being a real food program in the form of breakfast tacos. The drinks remain on point, and I still quite enjoy the matcha and chai lattes (by Mem Tea) and espresso drinks (by Barrington and other local craft roasters). They no longer carry almond milk, which is a bit sad to me, but oat and soy milks are still good vegan options. The tacos satisfy and are decently priced for a non-SoCal place. You can request corn tortillas to make them gluten free, and they are also easy to make dairy-free as well without cheese and crema. Although my tacos tend to look sparser than my friends' since they're stripped of most of their toppings (see the photos), I still find them tasty. The avocado tostada remains my favorite, with a thick slather of spiced mashed avocado accompanied by the crunch of pepitas and tartness from pickled onions (which I usually don't like, but I like them here). I've seen some gluten and dairy free My friends have also really enjoyed the carnitas and egg taco on flour tortillas. The Tall Man often gets the cold brew flight, which you can order at the bar. The place has kept its fun atmosphere, with lots of types of seating and board games to play. It still gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends and once Lamplighter starts serving beer (around 3pm on weekdays), so it's not the best place for groups, unless you really time it right. Getting there early with just a couple people seems to work well, though. read more

I got a drip-coffee which was the best cup of coffee I've had in quite some time. The passion fruit danish was absolutely stunning in its deliciousness. I was just *so* good; best food item I've ever had in a coffee shop, or anywhere for that matter. The service is superb, and staff is professional, prompt, friendly and helpful. This location is sizable, compared to many similar types of coffee shops, so that, even though it was busy, it didn't feel overly crowded and found a place to sit for four people as soon as our orders were ready, which was pretty quickly. As far as ambiance, it certainly is not "quiet" but neither was it too noisy; even though it was full, we had no problems at all conversing with each other. read more

I love visiting Lamplighter for their brews but had never come early on a weekend to try their cafe. I got the orange mocha iced latte which was very good. Super cute! Would definitely come back for co-working in the future. The music is the loudest thing there, with everyone quietly sipping on coffee or sucked into laptop work. This space doubles as a bar in the evenings and I could see how it would be great for both aspects. Very clever use, making it available for a range of full-day options. Some options for different food sensitivities, but none of them heavy on the protein front. I would recommend more for the sit, sip, and snack person rather than those looking for lunch on the run or a meal to keep you full. The grilled cheese was almost overwhelming in the amount of cheese provided, and the chai was overly spiced. My husband and I came here for brunch (around noon) on a Sunday. It was busy but we were still able to get a seat. We ordered a flight of cold brew, carnitas taco, elote tacos, avocado tostado, green chile cornbread, and raspberry currant muffin. Everything was so delicious. The portion of the cornbread was so much larger than I was expecting. The cold brew was so good but the nitro really hit it out of the park. The flight was also big enough that my husband and I could share it over brunch. Tacos and tostado were so so so good. My husband loved the carnitas tacos but since I don't eat pork I couldn't try them. The elote tacos were perfectly spiced and actually filling. The pickled onion was so tangy but delicious. Everything was perfectly proportioned but would have loved extra on the side! Oh and it's awesome that they offer corn and flour tortillas! We will definitely be back. read more

Took over for Longfellows. Pepita Coffee still has the same drink menu including mostly beer and coffee. The tap room has some decent beers (clearly I'm not a beer fan) and they have a good variety of coffee (I am a huge fan of coffee) including dark and light roast cold brews, nitros, lattes, cortados, and bottomless drip coffee! Nothing too special about the taste, but it's always nice to have options. The new thing that Pepita Coffee adds to Longfellows are the tacos. Only a few options including the Eggs and Chorizo, Eggs and Carnita, Avocados, and a couple more which I don't remember. Coming from SoCal, my Mexican food standards are extremely high. Pepita definitely doesn't measure up to Oscars or Taco Stand in San Diego, but it's still a step up from most Boston Mexican joints. For $4.50, you get a filled 5 inch round taco that is well worth the price point. The Eggs and Chorizo has a cheddar cheese base which was extremely extremely cheesy. All I tasted was the potatoes and cheese, very little amounts of chorizo. Not bad but also not great. The Eggs and Carnitas also had very little amounts of carnitas. It did include an over easy egg on top which was nice and runny. I personally preferred the chorizo but overall both were average at best. The food is a 3/5, drinks a 4/5. It is, however, a great addition to the Cambridge restaurant/cafe/brewery scene so I had to round up! read more

Great food! My boyfriend and I got the egg and cheese sandwich on the caramelized onion and Gruyère biscuit. The biscuit was so delicious and moist. We also got the avocado toast. Usually I am against ordering avo toast at restaurants because it's always overpriced and underwhelming. But during a previous visit to Pepita when I saw another customer get it, I knew I had to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. It's well priced and tasted as amazing as it looks!! Pepita had some huge shoes to fill. Longfellows was a staple and had one of those ambiances that drove people in hoards to visit. Pepita maintained the same staff, and a similar coffee menu which made the entire place familiar, homy and casual with still the same trendy inman-y vibe that can be expected from this brewery-coffee shop. The food menu is what has experienced an entire overhaul. The baked goods, generally, are good. Where they partner less with neighbouring partners, and instead make lots of things in house - they generally have an incredible flavour, and have something different. Their pumpkin bread, for example is well balanced and tasty, and overall something that I would go back for. I have not yet tried their tacos - mostly because I am pork free, and their menu is highly pork focused... but there is still time. Will go back for more. This is still one of my favourite places to study because it has a good loud-ish vibe, but it isn't overwhelming or pretentious. read more

This is our first time in Boston and we are off to a great start if Pepita Coffee is any indication. We left impressed. They have a great menu selection, but we came in this morning for the breakfast taco as the hotel concierge had told us the Pepita breakfast tacos were as good, or better than any we would find in our hometown of Austin, TX (fighting words). The shop was busy but the Barristas were super friendly and the food was made quickly. Just like Texas breakfast burritos, Pepita did not leave a lot of excess tortilla wrapped around itself, the ingredients inside filled it perfectly which made the flavor really stand out. The place was immaculate, the coffee was fresh, and the staff (despite their funny Yankee accents) was fun. Ever had a Vietnamese Coffee popsicle? Neither had we...but they are the perfect breakfast dessert. Great call by the concierge. read more

Pepita just opened today, with lots of tough expectations following the closing of Longfellow's. The tacos are a good size and hefty portion for 3.50 and 4.00 dollars. Unbeatable at that price point.
