Let's talk about the restrooms to start. I understand that the restaurant is not responsible for the public restrooms which are attached to the restaurant itself, but all the stalls were completely usable on Sunday while the restaurant was still operating. I'm not sure if there is some kind of ordinance in place that requires restrooms for the public to use while patronizing a restaurant, but there was no way the bathrooms were sanitary enough for use. There were overflowing toilets, feces on the floor, urine from wall to wall. They were absolutely deplorable. The food is good but if you have to use the restroom you will instantly lose your appetite. read more

Great hangout spot down in Long Beach. This is one my girlfriends favorite spots to hang and have a pretty darn good Impossible burger. We went here based on the high reviews and were quite disappointed. The food was ok. We had the breakfast burritos, and they were dry and somewhat bland. The orange juice tasted like Tang. If was just the mediocre food, I would have put three stars, but then there is the atmosphere. The area around the restaurant is awful. The bathrooms are so filthy that they are unusable. There are lots of people hanging around who appear to be in need of drug rehabilitation and/or mental health services. I feel bad for the families who had come to the beach to spend their day (no safe place for children to use a toilet). Do not go here if you want to sit in peace and enjoy a meal. read more

During one of my sunny morning walks along the beach, I decided to stop at Saltwater Deck to get some kind of coffee. Decided to go for their Cafe au Lait s, although if you are coming down here to get one, know that they don't make it with regular milk (hence the au lait) they use almond milk. Upon drinking it, I find it to be pretty good. Not as flavorful with espresso as i would like, but good. They have a variety of menu items to satisfy most people they have breakfast, Beach bites, burgers, hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps and salads, desserts and a variety of beverages. What makes this place stand out is the proximity to the beach. it's right on the sand between the walk/bike path and the ocean. All the seating is outdoor seating they have beautiful colorful orange tables and teal colored seats. They have lively fun music playing from their speakers and they even have a bean bag toss game off to the side while you wait for your food. Since you're looking for a place to hang out very close to the beach just relax enjoy the Sun, have something fun to eat, maybe take your kids to play at the park area on the other side, then definitely this a good place. read more

I figured the high reviews was due to the fact the location is right on the beach, rather than delicious food, but I was pleasantly surprised! The breakfast burrito was great, even the tortilla was good, and the view doesn't hurt either. At first when I rolled into the beach parking, I thought my GPS was trippin, like it has before, but Saltwater is on the sand. The parking is city parking, so pay or don't pay at your own risk lol. It's not far from the entrance of beach parking, at all. It's on the sand and right across from the basketball court/workout/play areas. Staff - super friendly and helpful, food was very good and affordable. The garlic grilled cheese was delicious and came in a box with chips. The ice cream is share size in my opinion. Only complaint would be the potatoes, which were absolutely delicious, could have been diced for better ingredient ratio in each bite. I think that would make the burrito nearly perfect. Today we decided to try Saltwater Deck because of the 5 star rating and it did not disappoint. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The view alone deserves 4 stars! The portions were really good and the food was too. I took of .5 point because my husband felt that the pastrami sandwich needed onions and condiments to give it more flavor. I finally made it down to Saltwater Deck!! They're are an awesome restaurant right on the sand at Junipero Beach. They have sandwiches, burgers, salads and an assortment of other items. You can dine right there looking out on the water or get your grub to-go if you prefer. Either way, it's a win! For my trip, I had their Breakfast Pastrami Sandwich. It was packed with delicious pastrami and eggs. Pro tip...keep the mustard and pickles to make it next level. This was a hearty sandwich exploding with flavor. The pastrami was fresh cut in house (so is all their other deli meat) and had great savoriness to it. The three fried eggs were cooked wonderfully. The bread was soft and light, yet held it all together very nicely. The mustard and pickles rounded it out wonderfully and gave it that classic pastrami goodness. The chips on the side were crispy and complimented the sando nicely. I've never had or even thought of having a breakfast pastrami, but wow I'm glad I did. This thing was delicious. I'll definitely be going back to try more of the menu. I'm pretty stoked on Saltwater Deck and the chill beach vibes. The staff was also super nice and gave awesome customer service. Such a great vibe! Came here in a Saturday at 9am and it was nice and empty with lots of space for my husband, dog and I. I loved music playing (Cuban cha cha cha and salsa)- felt like a vacation. Someone left a review in Facebook saying the salsa wasn't that great , so being the picky salsa loving person I am I brought my own fire roasted pepper goodness for my breakfast burrito. I found out I shouldn't have bothered though, the salsa was amazing! It had heat , was tangy and perfect for the breakfast burrito , which was also amazing! The staff is upbeat & kind. They brought water out for my dog. They have oat milk creamer for thier coffee , and pineapple cream soda is fabulous! So happy to have this spot with great views , I'm glad their not filming Dexter here in Long Beach anymore , they'd no doubt be filming here regularly and I would be able to get my burrito !
