Spam and Egg Musubi
Lisa Y.

Pretty solid spot for a quick and easy build-your-own poke bowl! Came in on a weekend for an early dinner, and there was no one in line. Choose from a small (2 scoops of fish), medium (3 scoops of fish), or large (4 scoops of fish) bowl. Their bases include white rice, brown rice, salad, or chips. You can do half and half as well. I usually go for salmon and tuna, and I thought the fish quality was decent! You can choose from a variety of toppings, and they'll mix if all together in a sauce of your choice. Their "original" is mild, and though they don't list exactly what's in it, it was pretty good! They also have a variety of musubis, including spam, spam and egg, spicy tuna, crab, and mayo tuna. I tried the spam and egg musubi, and it's served with a side of sauce, seemed like a spicy mayo. They also have some kind of special offer every weekday (like a free drink or scoop of edamame), so make sure to check the chalkboard when you go in!

I want to point out that the gentleman who served me was so kind and patient with me. It was mt first time there and he explained the menu and process to me. When I asked for a little bit of extra sauce or anything he made sure ask if it was enough or if I wanted more. Most Poki places make me feel rushed but the customer service was great! He even made small talk and hoped I liked the food so I can come back. Now the food! It was good! The spicy tuna had a nice flavor and the spicy mayo wasn't overwhelming. Everything was fresh and the bowl was packed which I appreciate. I will be back for the good customer service and good Poki bowls. I didnt get to try anything else but I will next visit.

Felt like poke or Popeyes, decided on the more "healthy" option Went with half and half salad and brown rice, with two scoops of salmon and one of tuna. I chose ponzu with spicy mayo and a bit of spicy cilantro sauce. Super friendly service, he kindly explained which sauces were most popular. Inside was a little warm, but to be fair it was a hot day out. Got it to-go with a carbonated ramune grape drink. Went for a drive down to Laguna beach. Both poke and drink recommendations were great - I'd definitely choose to come back for takeout!

Rice, 2 scoops spicy tuna & 1 scoop salmon, all veggies & extra onion, spicy cilantro, onion garlic, sesame oil, spicy mayo & all toppings.

Found this spot like a year ago & I am just getting around to giving them a review. I LOVE THIS PLACE! They have decent prices and their fish always taste fresh!! They are not skimpy with their portions either! I'm surprised they aren't packed with customers every day!

This was my first time at a PokiDoki, and my kids first time ever trying Poke. The quality of the food is perfect. There are places that serve larger portions, but I could see that everything was fresh and proper. Service was good, he helped the kids along the way and everyone was pleased. There's a decent amount of seating, and the place is very clean and nice. :)

spam musubi and pokinade. wasn't super hungry but wanted a snack so I stopped by heehee. Pokinade was interesting. It says it has strawberry, pineapple and basil but why'd it lowk taste like alcohol? It wasn't good but it wasn't bad?? Then I realized the fruit was probably old. Spam musubi was good! Hard to mess up. Also the staff there were rlly nice and friendly :) Clean place, quiet and nice :) Tbh I'm pretty sure they used old fruit. It tasted rotten. Hopefully I don't die.

Cute location and has all the right poki ingredients to make a good bowl. I thought the tuna, spicy tuna, and salmon was fresh. Bowl was full and filling. I would avoid the spam musubi as it was not prepared well and mainly full of rice.

I know that many other fellow Yelp members complain that this location is rather small but honestly, if they want to see a small Mitsuwa Market, they should visit the one in San Gabriel. That one is very small and has no food court. Anyways, my husband and I decided to visit this Mitsuwa Marketplace two Saturdays ago since we were out in Orange County. We wanted to pick up some groceries before heading back home to the San Gabriel Valley since this was kind of on the way home. In general, Mitsuwa typically seems to be more expensive than Tokyo Central (the Japanese market I frequent most often back home), often times $1-4 more for items. But that doesn't really bother me, as Mitsuwa sometimes will have different or more selection than Tokyo Central for certain items as well. I like to shop at both markets equally. We ended up purchasing a few items. After we finished paying for those groceries, we walked over to the food court to see what eateries and vendors are available. We ended up getting some onigiri at Omusubi Gonbei and decided to enjoy our rice balls here since there is such a large space of seating. Even though this market is smaller than some of their other locations, I would frequent this location if I still lived out here in Cypress.

I ordered the karaage with curry. The food came out hot and fresh, which was a plus. The curry itself was pleasant, leaning a bit on the sweeter side. The karaage had a light batter and was fried nicely the chicken was juicy and paired well with the curry. Overall, while the food was enjoyable, I'd still prefer going to the Costa Mesa location because it offers more variety when it comes to food.

I would definitely get this again. The portion is actually pretty good too Scallop risotto- risotto was creamy and flavorful. Scallops were cooked well. They should put a disclaimer that you may only get 2 pieces instead of 3 as listed on the menu. When I asked the staff about it, the chef said it's because the pieces given are the same as 3 which was a bit weird since the pieces didn't look that big compared to the photos on Yelp. This dish also comes with a salad. Chicken katsu curry- I ordered it medium, but honestly the curry is on the sweeter side with no heat at all. You also get raisins which makes the curry even sweeter. For $26, it's not a good price point for this type of dish. You can get this dish for much cheaper at other establishments. I would pass on this dish. Staff was nice and interior is clean and a bit cramped. My meal was over $100 for the 3 items which I normally wouldn't mind if the quality offsets portions given. Be prepared to spend lots if you want to get full! Also, keep in mind they charge an NCA fee if you don't pay cash. This place is a solid 3.5 for me.

After we walked right in front of Omusubi Gonbei, we both decided to get some onigiri. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly employee behind the counter when we approached this little eatery. We ended up purchasing: Spicy Tuna, $2.70 prior to tax- My husband decided to order this and really enjoyed it. I didn't have any because I am not much of a spicy eater. But my husband enjoyed it. Grilled Eel, $3.60 prior to tax- My husband and I split this one. I really liked the eel and also the sauce that was used on top of the eel. My husband also really liked this one. Fried Oyster, $3.60 prior to tax- I decided to order this one but it was topped with a spicy mayonnaise that I thought was a little too spicy for me (again, I am not a spicy eater). But the fried oyster itself was good. ---------------------------------- (Total= $10.67 after tax) Wait time for our items was pretty much non existent, since the girl helping us boxed up our items before I even had the chance to finish paying (I always struggle to pay via tap on the first try... I always seem to have the credit card somewhere else, instead of wherever the sensor is to pay for it...D'oh). This was a great snack for us since we had lunch 3 hours before (I had a light lunch of a tofu salad so the 1.5 onigiri that I had was perfect for me). I like that the onigiri was fresh and the filling. But there is a significant amount of rice and very little of the filling. The nori is very soft and chewy. It's not separated from the warm gohan itself. So if you're accustomed to onigiri with crisp nori, you will be disappointed. Depending on which kind of omusubi you're getting, I also agree that it may definitely feel like there's a lot more rice than the filling. I usually get the mentaiko, ebiten, and oyster musubis. I feel as though those are actually consistently good. The saltiness of the fillings really offsets the amount of rice included and makes it work. My other favorite flavors are takana and shiso. The two goes perfectly well with the karaage they sell separately. Another thing is that the rice itself is actually seasoned and not plain, which helps. Chashu and other fillings like eel has been a miss at this location. Same with their tuna and salmon offerings. I must admit I'm especially not a huge fan of their tuna offerings. It uses too much katsuobushi flavor in my opinion. I like mine more mayo forward. The service here can be a hit or a miss. It really depends on who is working there and what time/day of the week it is. Same goes with the availability of seatings. Parking is free but can be a hassle to find a close spot because of the proximity to the gym, superchargers, and other businesses.

There was only one server and what it appeared to be one person in the kitchen. I ordered: - Combo A (Chicken Teriyaki with a choice of Gyoza or Cali Roll): I replaced the rice with extra salad. The salad came with a neon pink dressing that was a bit sweet. The salad wasn't properly dried, unfortunately, as there was a pool of water at the bottom. Though some pieces of the chicken was a bit dry, the bed of cabbage underneath soaked up some of the juices and glaze, compensating for the lack of moisture. The Cali Roll was packed and a solid side to the meal. - Rainbow Roll: Though it had large cuts of fish, it unfortunately was not the freshest I've tasted, and also not very tightly rolled. - Crunch Philadelphia Roll: Though not as tightly rolled (it fell apart slightly when I tried picking up a piece), I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the cream cheese. My favorite sushi so far from the 3. The food was prepared quickly, and everything totaled about $42-45, which I thought was reasonable. They have a few minor things to improve upon, but I can see this being a place college students can get food to-go between classes or even shopping patrons dining at for a decent meal.

It makes it easy to see what you'll be getting and helps me make a decision. I was there for a late lunch and ordered the pork katsu curry plate and also, for an additional fee, added an omelette on top of the rice (omu-curry). I was given a pager by the friendly fellow at the counter and my meal was made in less than ten minutes. I sat and ate in the clean, comfortable food court. The pork was good quality, very tender, with a crunchy panko coating. The rice was done perfectly and the omelette on top was delicious with a buttery taste and soft texture.
