I was fully intending to write a five star review when I had my poke bowl. The first two or three times I've been here service was spot on and the bowl was simply the best. I think what happened is I wrote down my order on their order pad--all other times I've just verbally gave my order. Maybe my marks weren't clear on the page. Tonight I go to bite into my bowl and I'm just inundated with sauce. Granted, I chose three sauces, but I have every other time, and they just lightly put on each. I never had that issue. Then, I took a bite of the salmon, and it was luke warm. I was thinking okay the rice is warm I drove home... then there was lots of fish skin, which wasn't my preference, okay miscommunication, but then I realized... where's the edamame? Crispy onion? Ginger? Etc. so the. I posted this review. I don't know if I'll go again. Maybe worth a shot. read more

The gentleman at the counter was very helpful and hospitable . The large bowl is very tiny and they cut the fish into teeny tiny cubes and the portions are very very small. The spicy Mayo tastes strongly of mayonnaise. I know that sounds crazy but the good spicy mayos I have had don't taste like I'm slurping down mayonnaise from the jar. The Avocado and eel roll has the tiniest sliver of eel inside the roll. No public restrooms which is pretty lame. The place is really clean and nice and cool. Seems new ownership has ruined a great poki spot. The poki is now being covered by a film which is odd because you want to see the quality of the seafood. I learned why after tasting ‍. Freshness is way down and the avacado was brown and tasted bad. This seems to be the reason why they don't want you to see the food so you buy it and hope the sauces hide the taste of the low quality. read more

Might be the best poke bowl I've had in SoCal. Caveat, this restaurant is not serving traditional Hawaiian style poke. They serve the more Americanized poke bowl style. However, what is outstanding is the quality and freshness of the fish. Secondly, they toppings and sauces are not drowning the bowl itself which allows the fish to standout. The spicy sauce is a gochujang/vinegar sauce which is much more of a Korean style hwae restaurant. Service is excellent. We found this literally hidden gem, in one of the plazas here in Cypress. When you first enter it gives you Japanese alleyway vibes. The food was amazing, we tried both Katsu/Cutlet. Owner also accommodated my infant son with a slice of avocado when he got hungry too. We were going to get poke/ sushi, however we spotted the cutlet and we were sold; pretty sure poki/sushi is amazing too. It got busy around 7 so get here before the rush. Poki Roll has been around for a while, but it was only through yelp that I was able to find it. This spot is a small, family-owned business. The best value is their "special combo", which is a small poke bowl with a "base roll" for $15.50. I upgraded to a medium bowl and my "roll" was a crunch roll. With their poke bowls, their small bowl is two scoops of protein, their medium bowl is three scoops of protein, and their large bowl is 5 scoops of protein. I have to say that I enjoyed my roll and my bowl, but my issue is that the scoops of protein are on the smaller side. The scoop is about the size of a knob of butter on a stack of pancakes. I was waffling between three stars and four. Even though I felt that what I ordered was delicious, I ultimately felt that the value and food experience was simply OK, which is three stars in the yelp scale. I do think that it's a good spot for poke and everything tastes good. If you're hungry, definitely go with a large bowl and don't overlook that "special combo" as it helps you maximize value. read more

My family and I used to love this poke restaurant. When it first opened, it was our go to place!! It was fresh, clean, cool, and always inviting. The fish was amazing, the place felt vibrant, and every visit was a great experience. They used to have freshwater with lemons on tap and a complementary miso soup, and had that, well kept feel that made you feel confident about eating raw fish. One of the best parts has always been the owner!! He is such a kind and welcoming person who always greets us and makes time to chat. That personal touch really made it feel special. We also loved his nephew who would be in often too in the beginning! Unfortunately, after our most recent visit, I left feeling disappointed and honestly a little sad. The space just doesn't feel clean anymore. The moment we walked in, it felt humid and stuffy, almost like something wasn't being properly ventilated or maintained. That fresh, crisp air that used to hit you when you walked through the door is gone, and instead there's this uncomfortable, "off" feeling that doesn't pair well with eating raw fish. It pains me to say it, but I don't see myself going back unless some serious changes are made. The quality and atmosphere that once made this place stand out seem to be slipping fast. I truly hope they turn things around and go back to what made them so great in the beginning, because they're definitely headed in the wrong direction right now. read more

Sushi taste so good don't get me wrong, but the owner is very sketchy and unprofessional. I ordered two sushi roles went home and saw he charged me $40, when the roles are $10 each. What a scam!!! I also asked the owner for hot sauce and he kept telling me it's in the bag, I get to my car look in the bag, no hot sauce, so I went back in told the owner, "I got no hot sauce" and he basically just threw 1 sauce container at me and was completely rude about it. My family has been coming here for years now, we will no longer be supporting this bussiness any more. I hate to leave a review like this because I enjoyed coming here all throughout college, but the owner was so rude to my mom! My mom is a soft spoken woman but she won't be taken advantage of, so she rightfully chirped up when the owner was scooping menial 1/2 scoops of fish into her bowl. I don't think he liked her correction very much, as he got very snarky with her the remainder of the interaction and voiced frustration when she asked for additional fried onions (supposedly free btw).. My mom was perturbed with this, didn't leave a tip (this is a take out counter by the way so I think we can all agree that while it's polite/encouraged for great service, she wasn't deranged for not leaving anything), and then he proceeded to audibly throw a fit. Weird! I'm reading other reviews here, stating that portion sizes and quality have diminished. Sucks to hear, I love this spot. Still the prices were decent and the dining atmosphere is great for those who want a sit down experience. I got mine to go this time. I didn't try the sushi this time but they have a sizable vatiety. Food 1/5 We ordered 2 Medium poke bowls. The white and brown rice was mushy. The poke scoops were small. While most places will mix the poke in the sauce before putting it on top of the rice, this place just squirts the sauce on top. This makes for an imbalance bowl and even more soggy bottom. Fish didn't taste fresh especially the yellowtail. Ambience 1/5 The place was empty during lunch on a weekday. There is very low lighting and lack of natural light. The place is clean but just looks old. The bathroom was even worse with a strange odor. The place needs an update. One thing to note is they are playing Christian music in the background. Not sure how i feel about eating poke while wondering if Jesus is judging me for not finishing my food. Just an FYI for those who might be turned off by that. Was eager to try this place due to the high reviews, however, upon entering the store the atmosphere felt... oddly intimidating? The owners both stared us down and also rushed us to order, despite there being nobody else there but us. We got build your own poke bowls with half chips and half rice. Portions were very small and the fish is cut even smaller, each piece being small enough to fit on my fingertip. Fish tasted fine but one thing to note was that they didn't mix my fish separately in a bowl (which to me is standard at most poke places.) Fish was just put on top of the rice in my bowl and he proceeded to just put the sauces directly in the bowl. The rice was super soggy due to the fact that everything was just tossed into one bowl and they called it a day. Poke wasn't not done well and the menu is a bit hard to read, I wouldn't come back for the poke. read more

They were pretty stingy with both the fish and the add-ons. My husband and I each ordered a large bowl, and when we opened the bag, we genuinely thought we were given the wrong size -- the "large" looked more like a medium. For $16 per bowl, I expected a more generous portion, especially when it comes to the protein. It just didn't feel like the value matched the price.
