One of the best spots I tried during my trip to California! I first heard about this place through a viral TikTok featuring their crispy taco musubis. When I visited on a Friday night, it was packed. The shop is on the smaller side with limited seating, so I'd definitely recommend ordering ahead for pickup. I ordered all three crispy taco musubis: Wagyu Feta, Grilled Unagi, and Crispy Calamari. My ranking would be Unagi first, Wagyu second, and Calamari third--but honestly, I'd happily order all three again. Since we ordered in-store, there was a bit of a wait, but it was completely worth it. The tacos are made fresh to order, with a large seaweed sheet dipped in batter and fried until crispy, creating a unique and delicious shell. I'm a huge sushi lover, so the seaweed shell had me excited. I'm going to list them from favorite To least favorite. 1. Crunchy crumble shrimp taco. Crunchy Shrimp, Crunchy crumble, cilantro-cucumber pickled, rice, seaweed, crab. This had really good flavor. I know a lot of people frown upon imitation crab. I love both. Their flavor and ingredients are on point so it doesn't give cheap. I loved the combination of shrimp with the imitation crab. Topped with spicy mayo. Their mail is made in house and you can taste the love that goes into it. If you love sushi and you love a good crunch. I feel like you could eat any sushi ingredient in this seaweed fried shell and it be delicious 8.5 no complaints. Number 2. would go to Grilled Unagi Taco Unagi, rice, seaweed, crab, cilantro cucumber pickles, sesame seeds. Drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Also made in house. This was really yummy. The combination of flavors was perfect. The crunch got me every single time. Topped with their spicy mayo in heaven. I liked the texture of the Unagi. It was very soft and buttery. Not chewy no fishy flavor very fresh. 8 out of 10. Last but not least also the most expensive was Wagyu Feta Taco Wagyu beef, rice, seaweed, feta cheese, onion, crispy arugula, cilantro sauce. This taco was my least favorite. I felt like the ingredients really didn't go together. I'm a fan of Wagyu beef and feta cheese, but the flavor threw my whole pallet off. Maybe if I would've started with this taco instead of the seafood first I would feel differently. They give you a great amount of ingredients, not skimpy with the meat. Had a nice flavor. Some pieces were more tender than others. for a taco where you don't want to worry about choking while you're eating it, I would say the slices of beef were large for a taco. Maybe not a bowl but definitely for a taco. I would suggest slicing the pieces a lot smaller so that it's easier to eat. Again everything was fresh. for a meat lover. This would definitely be a goto. I really did enjoy the first two more than this one. I would still recommend for you to try it maybe eat it first before you try any of the seafood. The staff were extremely helpful in recommendations and answering questions. Although I will say the wait is long if you order in the store especially if you get the tacos. Easy parking, small spot, a few tables. We grabbed a few different musubis. - The trio spam, which was smaller pieces of spam musubi, each with different sauces. - miso salmon, this was my favorite as it had the most flavor and tasted the most fresh. It just fell apart after the first bite though. - beef bulgogi musubi, my fiancé's favorite one. A little on the dry side to me, but tasted good still. - soft shell crab musubi, it's exactly that. I think this would benefit maybe with some furikake flakes or something to add a little more flavor, but otherwise, it was still good. Had this place bookmarked for a while and it did not disappoint. The KBBQ Short Rib Musubi Taco was probably my favorite--the meat was flavorful, juicy, and paired so well with the musubi concept. The Wagyu Feta Taco was another standout and had a really nice combination of rich and salty flavors that worked surprisingly well together. What I appreciated most is that there wasn't a weak item. Sometimes fusion concepts can be hit or miss, but everything here felt well executed and thoughtfully put together. Was nervous because of the mixed reviews for this place but glad we decided to try it. Order was ready pretty quick from ordering = ~15min. It's a small restaurant with nice workers. We actually went twice because we liked it that much. First time they were out of the short ribs and we opted for another wagyu feta roll. In total we tried the eel, wagyu feta, calimari, short rib musubi tacos, spicy crab musubi and soft shell musubi. Felt like the tacos were more worth it in terms of quantity and quality versus the musubi which needed more filling but good crab taste. The eel was amazingggggg! We got it both times. The taco shell is so crispy and has a nice umami aroma. The eel was plentiful and tender and had such a good saucey flavor. The Wagyu feta wasn't our favorite. The meat was fine not super tender or anything and the feta threw us off. Probably wouldn't order that again. The calamari was pretty, crispy and tender. The short rib was also really good. Sooo good! I wanted to try their musubi tacos because I've never seen anything like it before. I had their crunchy shrimp one and my friend got the unagi one. Musubi Square was a bit of a mixed experience for me. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking, and the menu is simple with musubi, rice bowls, and sides. We ordered the spam, bulgogi, and crispy soft shell crab musubi, plus the wagyu feta taco and grilled uni taco. The food was actually surprisingly good, especially the crispy soft shell crab musubi and the tacos. What hurt the experience was the dine-in side. The space is small, not very inviting, and honestly not the cleanest. Some tables were dirty, one had a dirty apron left on it, and the bathroom was out of order. A little more classic flavor profile, kinda similar to sushi The wagyu feta honestly reminded me of the chipotle carne asada marinade - lots of flavor and spices, and the feta added a sharp creaminess to the meat. They also have Taco Musubi: Wagyu Feta, Grilled Unagi (freshwater eel) and Crispy Calamari. The seaweed acts like a tortilla, which is why it's called "Taco" Musubi. I've also tried their spicy rice cake and carbonara rice cake ($7/each). I love how the price is so affordable. From the musubi menu, I've tried Spam, both the mild and spicy Crab, Miso Salmon, and Bulgogi BBQ. From the rice bowl menu, I've only tried the Miso Salmon, which comes with Brussels sprouts. The reason why I haven't tried any other bowls was because the Miso Salmon is so delicious that I always end up sticking with this rice bowl. One of my favorites. We make musubi at home, so we come strictly for the tacos , and they're amazing. They always keep us coming back. Lately they've been going through waves of being extremely busy because of social media exposure (good for them!). We've come on nights where it's packed and the staff seems overwhelmed. When it gets like that, the dining area starts slipping, tables need wiping, trash and recycling pile up, and people end up standing around because no one wants to sit at dirty tables. It can feel pretty hectic. On slower days, though, everything is clean, organized, and running smoothly. Orders are taken quickly and the space looks well kept. It really depends on the timing, later nights tend to be the busiest. I've also seen boxes stacked down the hallway and even in the restroom before, which was a little off putting. Musubi Square is on LaPalma (and Magnolia) but not street facing. It is located by Quick Mart and adjacent to LensCrafters. After so much social media buzz, we were excited to check it out. When we got to the restaurant, there was surprisingly no other customers. However after we placed our order, there was a sudden influx of at least 10 other people. Items are made to order because we waited a bit for our food and despite being first, some received their food before us. That aside, I was honestly disappointed with what we ordered. To me, everything we got (1) grilled unagi taco musubi, (2) bulgogi bbq beef musubi and (3) soft shell musubi were underwhelming, especially the soft shell crab. I get along with my coworkers because we all have a shared common love for food, and for one of the working days, we decided to try this place out, despite it being a bit out of our way. The reviews and photos seemed promising so it seemed worth it! My coworker picked it up but there seemed to be a delay during the lunch rush. I tried the crispy soft shell crab musubi, bulgogi musubi, and I was able to trade one of my bulgogi musubi's for one of my coworker's grilled veggie musubi. I wasn't expecting much from the grilled veggie, but I ended up really liking that one because of the flavor from the grilled veggies. That one and the crispy soft shell crab were tied for my favorite. The bulgogi was good but it wasn't anything too special. Each order comes with two pieces, so if you want to try multiple flavors, I'd suggest sharing to try more flavors. The unagi had great flavor and texture, the wagyu feta was rich and savory, and the shrimp had a nice crunch that made it really satisfying. The Korean BBQ short ribs and spicy yuzu pork ribs were solid too and brought some good variety to the lineup. Overall, I can see why this spot has been getting so much attention. It's not too recommended for sit down as it does get pretty packed and the place is more on the small and cozy side. The person at the register was super patient with us while we took our time to decide what to get, so thank you! During our visit, I grabbed the calamari musubi taco and the spicy yuzu pork taco. I didn't get much spice from the pork taco, but I liked how much flavor it had and how much they give you. I recommend getting a few napkins though because the insides pour out a lot after each bite. The calamari taco I was not really a fan of. It's also full of flavor but the sauce combined with the fried portion made it a bit too salty for me. The infamous crunchy nori sushi taco is intact VERY crunchy, its tempura battered and withstands the weight of the taco ingredients. We tried 3 different tacos and 2 musubi. The bulgolgi was delicious, a generous piece of eel and the shrimp tempura was yummy. I was hesitant about the Wagyu feta taco, get it! The spot is tucked pretty far back, so you can't really see it from the main street -- but once you find it, it's a small and super cute place. They specialize in musubi, and the prices are really affordable. We got the 3 musubi for $7 deal, which was a great value! Everything tasted good overall, but I do wish they had been warmed up -- they felt like they might've been sitting out for a bit. For Valentine's day we came to grab our picnic supplies and head to the park nearby. We ordered the Unagi (eel) Taco Musubi, Wagyu Feta Taco Musubi and their musubi trio. Each Taco Musubi is around $12 but the ingredients are all really tasty and it's filled to the seam. The musubi trio was $7 and again, mountain of toppings. They have a huge menu with other items too and I have a feeling their bowls and tteokbokki are also good. I personally love unagi so it is no surprise that it was my favorite. A big piece of grilled eel on top and the crispy seaweed shell holding the rice were perfect. It took us maybe 15-20 minutes to actually eat it since we took it for our picnic but it was still crispy! The wagyu feta was also very tasty and different as it had little cubes of grilled wagyu. The combination of wagyu and feta is unexpected but works! A little fatty for our taste but had to try it. The musubi trio had 3 different flavors. My husband loved the jalapeno while I really enjoyed the spicy mayo cause it had spam and egg inside. The sesame was a solid second favorite for both of us. Tip: Because they're making these to order, it might be a little wait. The interior is also small with only 3-4 tables so you might not get a seat inside. Finally had the opportunity to try this restaurant to see what's all the hype is about... Finally verdict: way overrated! We got the calamari musubi taco, and the trio. We were very disappointed with the calamari taco. More like "crispy dough bits musubi taco". We keep biting the "calamari" apart to see the calamari, you will need a magnifying glass to see it. It was 99.8% dough, and a piece that's thin like hair that supposed to be calamari. I want to know if the owner even know the quality of their food. We certainly feel like we got ripped off. We hope the owner see this review and make a change for the better for you. In addition, it was just too greasy overall. We all felt sick afterward... As for the Spam trio, nothing amazing. I've been a fan of Musubi Square for quite some time because I consistently receive good, efficient service. And the food never disappoints! This evening I tried one of the tacos (shrimp) for the first time and absolutely loved it. The seaweed held it all together and the crunchy, savory shrimp was amazing. Now I have to try the tacos too! read more

This places need to hire more help. There were only 2 people working. A bunch of online orders coming in, people waiting at the register to order with no one to help. People were just ordering online, which I started to and found that Door Dash pricing was more expensive...the Taco Musubi's was $11.50 online vs $9 in store. Yes I know $2.50 is not much of a difference to some, but if I'm standing IN store, and ordered a total of 7 taco musubi's ($2.50 x 7=$17.50), that $2.50 adds up quick! We ordered at 10:45 and got our order at 11:20 The taco musubi was pretty big! The size of my hand! We ordered the Wagyu Feta Taco Musubi - there was definitely not Wagyu Beef...the meat was not tough, but it wasn't super tender either. Grilled Unagi Taco Musubi - there was nice generous portion slab of unagi in a taco. The unagi was soft and just enough sauce. Crispy Calamari Taco Musubi - there was some kind of sweet teriyaki kind of sauce that was overpowering. Bulgogi Beef Musubi - this was probably the best thing that we ordered. Overall, with the wait and the food, I don't think we would be coming back. It's a great concept tho. read more
