Overhyped and overpriced. The music is way too loud--if I wanted that kind of volume, I'd just go eat at a club. Definitely not the vibe I'm looking for when trying to enjoy a meal. My son and I stumbled upon Musubi Square and decided to check it out. We ordered the Spam, two Bulgogi, and the Crunchy Shrimp musubi. My son tried them one by one, and when he finally got to the shrimp, his face instantly lit up -- that one was a clear winner. Great flavor and really well executed. I kept on seeing this place on various social media platforms and wanted to love it. But I feel like it fell short for me. My sister and I tried the crunchy crumble shrimp taco musubi and the grilled unagi taco musubi. I'll admit the outer taco shell has a nice crunch to it, yet I expected more than just a panko shrimp tempura placed on top of the rice. The grilled unagi was definitely better than the shrimp in taste and quantity-wise. Service is decent. We went in when it was lunch time, so it seemed pretty busy with just the owner and one other worker. We waited for around 15-20 minutes for two tacos. The price point for one taco musubi is pretty steep within the $9-$12 range, so it's not something I would probably get again. Musubi Square was a bit of a mixed experience for me. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking, and the menu is simple with musubi, rice bowls, and sides. We ordered the spam, bulgogi, and crispy soft shell crab musubi, plus the wagyu feta taco and grilled uni taco. The food was actually surprisingly good, especially the crispy soft shell crab musubi and the tacos. What hurt the experience was the dine-in side. The space is small, not very inviting, and honestly not the cleanest. Some tables were dirty, one had a dirty apron left on it, and the bathroom was out of order. They have a variety of musubis, such as Spam, Crab (mild/spicy), Bulgogi BBQ (beef), Truffle Grilled Veggie, Crunchy Shrimp, Miso Salmon, Crispy Soft Shell Crab, and Wagyu Beef. They also have Taco Musubi: Wagyu Feta, Grilled Unagi (freshwater eel) and Crispy Calamari. The seaweed acts like a tortilla, which is why it's called "Taco" Musubi. I've also tried their spicy rice cake and carbonara rice cake ($7/each). I love how the price is so affordable. One of my favorites. We make musubi at home, so we come strictly for the tacos , and they're amazing. They always keep us coming back. Lately they've been going through waves of being extremely busy because of social media exposure (good for them!). We've come on nights where it's packed and the staff seems overwhelmed. When it gets like that, the dining area starts slipping, tables need wiping, trash and recycling pile up, and people end up standing around because no one wants to sit at dirty tables. It can feel pretty hectic. On slower days, though, everything is clean, organized, and running smoothly. Orders are taken quickly and the space looks well kept. It really depends on the timing, later nights tend to be the busiest. I've also seen boxes stacked down the hallway and even in the restroom before, which was a little off putting. Items are made to order because we waited a bit for our food and despite being first, some received their food before us. That aside, I was honestly disappointed with what we ordered. I get along with my coworkers because we all have a shared common love for food, and for one of the working days, we decided to try this place out, despite it being a bit out of our way. The reviews and photos seemed promising so it seemed worth it! My coworker picked it up but there seemed to be a delay during the lunch rush. I tried the crispy soft shell crab musubi, bulgogi musubi, and I was able to trade one of my bulgogi musubi's for one of my coworker's grilled veggie musubi. I wasn't expecting much from the grilled veggie, but I ended up really liking that one because of the flavor from the grilled veggies. That one and the crispy soft shell crab were tied for my favorite. The bulgogi was good but it wasn't anything too special. Each order comes with two pieces, so if you want to try multiple flavors, I'd suggest sharing to try more flavors. The infamous crunchy nori sushi taco is intact VERY crunchy, its tempura battered and withstands the weight of the taco ingredients. We tried 3 different tacos and 2 musubi. The bulgolgi was delicious, a generous piece of eel and the shrimp tempura was yummy. I was hesitant about the Wagyu feta taco, get it! It's not too recommended for sit down as it does get pretty packed and the place is more on the small and cozy side. The person at the register was super patient with us while we took our time to decide what to get, so thank you! During our visit, I grabbed the calamari musubi taco and the spicy yuzu pork taco. I didn't get much spice from the pork taco, but I liked how much flavor it had and how much they give you. I recommend getting a few napkins though because the insides pour out a lot after each bite. The calamari taco I was not really a fan of. It's also full of flavor but the sauce combined with the fried portion made it a bit too salty for me. Once you head inside, the seating area is small which gives it a certain hole-in-the-wall charm to it. I saw the taco musubi on Instagram so I ordered an unagi and wagyu feta taco musubi. Both were great and I especially enjoyed the unagi musubi. The actual taco was a fried seaweed shaped into a taco and was crispy and perfectly firm. Each bite was enjoyable. Both taco musubi were flavorful and filling. I believe you get your money's worth! The staff is courteous and helpful when placing your order. For Valentine's day we came to grab our picnic supplies and head to the park nearby. We ordered the Unagi (eel) Taco Musubi, Wagyu Feta Taco Musubi and their musubi trio. Each Taco Musubi is around $12 but the ingredients are all really tasty and it's filled to the seam. The musubi trio was $7 and again, mountain of toppings. They have a huge menu with other items too and I have a feeling their bowls and tteokbokki are also good. I personally love unagi so it is no surprise that it was my favorite. A big piece of grilled eel on top and the crispy seaweed shell holding the rice were perfect. It took us maybe 15-20 minutes to actually eat it since we took it for our picnic but it was still crispy! The wagyu feta was also very tasty and different as it had little cubes of grilled wagyu. The combination of wagyu and feta is unexpected but works! A little fatty for our taste but had to try it. The musubi trio had 3 different flavors. My husband loved the jalapeno while I really enjoyed the spicy mayo cause it had spam and egg inside. The sesame was a solid second favorite for both of us. Tip: Because they're making these to order, it might be a little wait. The interior is also small with only 3-4 tables so you might not get a seat inside. Really tasty Korean fusion masubi selection and creatively delicious nori tacos. The kalbi short rib taco and yuzu spicy pork tacos are a must. The marinated beef is so tender and contrast really well to the tempura fried nori shell. I was surprised that the nori had held up so well. It was still crispy even an hour later. There was a pretty long line, but we didn't have to wait too long for our food, about 10-15 min, and everything came out fresh. There was ample seating and we were able to get a seat. We got one of each of the musubi tacos. The tacos were quite big, about the length of my hand, and they were stuffed to the brim with toppings. The wagyu feta was a bit smoky and very flavorful. Personally, the flavors were a bit too strong for me, I wouldn't be able to finish a whole one myself, 5/10. I was most excited for the calamari taco because I love calamari and how crunchy they are. However, the calamari was a bit oily and wasn't super crunchy. There also wasn't much sauce and it didn't taste like much, 6/10. I enjoyed the unagi taco the most. A pretty unique concept of making musubi's. The Musubi Taco a first try of its kind, we went with the Unagi and the Wagyu Feta Taco. We also tried their Pork Rice bowl. The Musubi Taco's were good. A nice crunchy seaweed with maybe a little too much rice. The Wagyu beef was interesting. The chunks of wagyu had a distinct flavor of seasoning, but maybe the feta is what gave a different taste. The unagi was really good. A nice portion of eel and not too much eel sauce. I really liked the pork rice bowl. As common of a dish, the taste was very satisfying. As for food I give Musubi Square three stars. I felt the price for these tacos is a bit high. If I ordered two for myself, that's already $20 just for two tacos. I know it's Wagyu but that's a loose term being over used to sell beef. The other reason MS lost a star rating is because of the training of staff. That is a problem with small businesses. They lack training in their staff. I understand the young lady at the counter taking orders was new as she said, but if she was trained well, she would either know the answer or know to ask someone that would know. I asked what kind of Wagyu they use. She said beef. I said, do you know if it's American Wagyu, she said I don't know anything about the Wagyu, I'm new. Then I asked about the spam crab musubi, if it's imitation crab, she said you didn't order that as she's looking at my receipt. So that's why I was curious about the other crab. She said, I think so, I'm not sure, I'm new. At no time did she think again to ask someone. The service and the care for their establishment is put to the wayside. Tables aren't clean. I had to get napkins and water to clean a table myself. The trash can was more than overflowing. It was so full, I and others had to put it on top of the trash bin. I mentioned it to another girl, and not even a thank you for letting her know. My kids and I love musubi, so naturally we wanted to try this place. The bulgogi beef is amazing. Not fatty and full of flavor. The crunchy shrimp musubi was so good. We loved the spam musubi without the egg. Only things I wish they had was spicy mayo and wasabi. But their spicy sauce they have is so good! The service was so quick! We ordered online and picked up without any problem. The place is small so it's more of a takeout place. read more

Be careful when ordering, the spam musubi does not come with egg a lot of the time. I have ordered from here multiple times and this is now the 2nd time there has been no egg in the musubi's. We specifically order from here for the fact that it has the egg in it. When I called and asked the owner he said sometime they don't have it and don't put it in. I asked them if there was a way they could put this online when people order a since it's false advertising otherwise. Also, the cost should be less if the egg is not included. I asked if there was a way to get a credit or discount the next time I order since I've spent hundreds of dollars there and not getting what I was expecting and he told me no. No remorse and no care to have customer service. Since this is the 2nd time this happened I called and now after the lack of care, they lost a customer. Be wary where you spend your hard earned money and give it to people who don't try to give you a product you did not pay for. read more

Updating my review haven't been back for a while still tasty but the sauce issue sucks I always ask to make sure there is sauce. The one time I didn't it was missing. I personally think the sauce makes the food taste so much better. Now I have to use soy and it's just not the same. So unfortunate. read more

I ordered here on one Lenten Friday. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to eat so I decided to try this place that was near my work. I ordered through Grubhub and was not disappointed. The musubis were bigger than your usual musubi and they were definitely hefty and filling. I also tried their appetizer carbonara tteok bokki and it was delicious. I'm a wuss for spicy so when I saw this I needed to try it.. and I'm glad I did!! Will be coming back here again for sure! read more
