We tried a few different options, getting the fluffy egg, garlic butter crab, grilled bulgogi, and the spicy grilled eel. The fluffy egg and garlic butter crab were big hits with my three kids--they really enjoyed them. I went with the spicy grilled eel, and it was really good. It had a nice kick to it, which was right up my alley. The store itself is very clean, and it's just a comfortable place to grab a bite. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. Finally visited Atoyubu in Buena Park after hearing good things about it. I really liked the concept--a healthy yubu (tofu pocket) base topped with your choice of ingredients. Having protein options ranging from fish to meat made it easy to try a good mix of flavors. The food tasted great, looked very neat, and offered excellent value. At around $5 per piece, it is remarkably affordable considering current food prices everywhere else. The portions are generous, too--two pieces are plenty for a full meal, and three will easily satisfy a bigger appetite. Wow!!! This is a hidden gem! I happen to find this spot on Instagram and happen to be in the area this week. When you go in to order, there is a kiosk for you to order on, however, the workers are all super helpful and gave recommendations. I ended up getting the spicy tuna which had a strong kick to it! I found Atoyubu while browsing Yelp and decided to check it out. I probably wouldn't have discovered it on my own because it's tucked away in a very small plaza, but the good news is there's parking right out front. I went on a Friday right when they opened at 4 p.m. When I stepped inside my first thought... did this place just open? There are tables and chairs, but not much else. No photos or decor on the walls. There were two men behind the counter and I wasn't greeted, so I walked up to the digital menu to place my order. I also noticed the all-gender restroom, which I liked as an option, though it wasn't very clean during my visit. For food, I ordered several of the yubu rice balls. I tried the lemon pepper salmon, chipotle salmon, sweet barbecue gyro, and another one with crab. The sushi rice was cooked great and the fish tasted fresh. My son was a really big fan of the sweet barbecue gyro and liked it so much that he ordered another one. The barbecue sauce was very sweet, maybe a little too sweet. As for the little wrap around the rice, I couldn't quite figure out what it was. It didn't really add or take anything away. As I'm walking to the door, I pass another place where two guys are sitting close to the window and I notice they are eating stuffed inari sushi. I backup to see the sign above. ATOYUBU!!! I go in to check it out... and the lady starts talking to me in Korean, then quickly switches to English asking if it's my first time. People are casually sitting at small tables, so I discreetly glance to see what they're eating... then, decide to try it out... Ayoo I'm a sucker for inari whenever I eat at sushi restaurants so these yubu's blew me away! Don't even bother with any soy sauce or wasabi, the flavors are perfect as is. They provide chopsticks and even disposable gloves for better handling. I was using the small round paper plate kind of like a taco holder to keep everything in place. All of the yubus have pretty well balanced flavors. The only one that surprised me was the lemon pepper since it's what I normally see on a chicken wing... but it was really good with the little lemon slice on top. Of the four I ate, i can't really decide which one was my favorite since they were all good. They are packed with quite a lot of rice, so for small eaters maybe start with two pieces rather than three? They're famous for their "Inari Bombs" (basically fresh fish packed inside a lightly sweetened tofu skin pouch thing) We tried four different flavors, & honestly... ALL FOUR were absolute flavor bombs. They were not shy with the seasoning at all, which I loved. They made sure to explain everything you wanted to know as well. Garlic Butter Crab Yubu -- my favorite! Anything garlic is a yes for me, and this did not disappoint. So rich and flavorful. I had driven to Buena Park from San Diego for a book event, but one of my side quests was checking out Atoyubu, I saw a TikTok about their restaurant and since it was close to the event I had to check them out. It was a rainy evening, I got to Buena Park area around 5:22 pm and there was ample parking, I think the rain really deterred a lot of people from being out but there were definitely a lot of people still eating inside. As soon as I got in, I was greeted right away, there was another patron in front of me so but I had been stalking their menu online so I already knew what I was going to get. The cashier was really friendly and explained to me the options, I mentioned to her that I had come all the way from San Diego and she was so happy that I made the trip, seriously so kind. She said typically people order three, but I was going to Portos next so I only opted for 2, I wish I had listened and got 3 because these were so delicious. I'm a so basic, I ordered the myungran crab and the spicy tuna yubu. When I picked up my order, I was surprised at how big it was, I thought they would be dainty but they were actually such a good size for the price and the price points are really really fair. The cashier was so kind and offered my a soda for free which I appreciated after such a long drive in the rain. I tried the crab yubu first, I wasn't sure how to eat it so I just watched others, after taking a big bite, I decided to take the toppings off to make i easier for first timer me, can I just say this was so delicious. Everything was seasoned so well, do you marinate the tofu pockets too because it was so soft and flavorful and the filling, the rice and imitation crab were all so delicious. Then the spicy tuna, was really spicy, not obscenely, but just the right amount of spice, I kid you not it was so good. The tuna was fresh, the spicy sauce had a good kick to it and the sweetness from the rice and tofu pocket balanced it out so nicely. I REGRET NOT GETTING MORE. If I didn't have a book event for 3 hours I would have ordered more to take home and now I will have to find a way to satiate the cravings back home. I really enjoy Atoyubu, especially when I am in the need of a quick bite to eat during lunch. Atoyubu has offerings of rice wrapped concoctions filled with rice and a delicious variety of toppings. I've had the crab and fresh salmon during my first two visits and I have had the bulgogi in addition to them during my first. I found that for me personally, three made me feel overstuffed, but two were plenty. They are much more filling than they look. My second visit was months after my first, and I found that they have added quite a few more offerings! This just makes me want to come back more and try more variety. Ordering is more or less like a fast food establishment. You order through the large kiosk at the register and the workers are working like very busy worker bees. There is usually an employee at the front who will assist you if needed. I will definitely be by more often to try their other options. read more

These Yubu, or Ubu, or Inari pockets are my new obsession! I love being able to get a variety of flavors and you definitely can with these! They are a fried soybean pocket (inari) filled with sushi rice and your toppings of your choice. You can get sushi like toppings or cooked toppings like bulgogi, eel, or spicy pork. I've tried these a few times at different places and these were delicious. Today I tried the spicy tuna (indeed SPICY and I can handle spice), the fresh salmon, and the blue crab (real crab) with salmon. I loved them all and can't wait to try more. Three Yubus is plenty for lunch or get a fourth if you are starving. I think their logo is so adorable (they should give out stickers or something) and the service was great. My fiancé and I came across Atoyubu after a long day at Knotts Soak City. We arrived a little too early and the doors were still closed, but we were able to find good parking. While waiting, we noticed a line starting to form right outside their doors. That's when we knew "this place has to be good!".
