Delicious new Korean restaurant in Anaheim! My husband and I were craving Korean food one day and we saw that this place just opened up early summer and we decided to give it a try. We were welcomed by the staff and the manager when we came on a Friday with our daughter. Everything that we tried so far was very good! We liked this place so much that we ended up already going back again and also even ordering to-go. Our favorite so far is their combos- the Beef Bulgogi combo that comes with tofu soup and their Galbi combo w/ tofu soup. They also give banchans (Korean side dishes) when dining AND to-go (though they only give you 4 banchans when dining out). They give a good amount of meat that my husband and I can share and we loved that they gave us so much tofu soup when we ordered to-go that we ended up having seconds! Walking in, I was greeted with a tablet showing a waitlist, so I was pretty disappointed; however, I was immediately directed to a table because there was no waitlist, so that was a good surprise. At the table, ordering was done on a tablet that was installed on every table, but I wish, there were more descriptions, especially for the bibimbap. Food itself was superb, we were presented with complimentary iced water or hot tea along with some banchan, which even included a couple fried fish dishes, which were superb. On for the main course, everything was great and well cooked, the bulgolgi, tofu soups, grilled atka mackerel, bibimbap were all amazing. It's rare for a place to cook octopus that's nice and tender and this place does it perfectly. The only slight critique I have is the bibimbap and tofu soup spice levels are not equivalent, mild on the bibimbap has a little more spice than the tofu soup, so J eould like that they make it consistent, because the tofu soup mild almost feels like no spice at all. Place was clean, had some sports games going on the tv, and was pretty chill, I would definitely recommend checking it out before it gets popular and an actual line forms out the door. read more

Happy to have a Korean restaurant close by instead of going all the way to Buena Park. I've been here twice so far and here are my thoughts. The first visit, we put in our name on the waitlist as it was busy the day we went. We stepped out to kill time, thinking they would text us when our table was ready. But after waiting for 30min we felt something was wrong and went back to the restaurant. We checked in with the staff and was told the kiosk doesn't work well and won't give text alerts. So we pretty much waiting a lot longer than it was necessary. They apologized for the inconvenience but I think they should just put up a sign to have people wait in the restaurant so it doesn't confuse customers or just get rid of the kiosk and do paper waitlist if there's no text alerts. Once we were seated, there was a screen you can easily order your food or call the staff if needed. Ordering process was quick but it did take time for certain dishes. I ordered a beef tofu soup so mine came out pretty quickly but my husband had to wait a long time for his marinated pork dish. The dish itself was delicious, he would order it again but keep in mind you will be waiting a long time for this to come out. The tofu soup was flavorful as nice but it was on the saltier side for me (I've had many tofu soups) so I had to pour some water into it and made it just right. I would still order it again but I might need some hot water on the side to dilute a bit if needed. The second time we visited was recent. I ordered katsu and my husband tried the honeycomb cut pork. Katsu was average, which I kind of expected since this is a tofu soup place (I didn't feel like eating tofu soup that day) and I would not order the katsu here next time - it's not bad but not great either. The pork was also a let down because the meat was dry and hard to eat the more my husband was eating it. It doesn't come with soup or salad so you don't really have something you can down this with aside from rice and banchan. I gave him my soup so it's easier for him to eat. Overall, this place is a hit or miss with their dishes. Would I come back? Absolutely, and I'll still try other dishes to narrow down what's good and not good here. For now, tofu soup is a safe bet here. read more

I liked how creamy the soybean noodles were, but I had an unexpected allergic reaction and the staff was super considerate and professional about the situation. We ordered braised black cod with radish, enough for two people at $45.99 served with 5-6 side banchan (side dishes) and a bowl of rice and seaweed soup. The portions are all pretty small, banchan, cold noodles (size of some small persons fist) and the combo meat was so small. Considering its small portions, the prices are quite high. The restaurant owner was nice and attentive to customers to see if they needed any other help or other amenities. He offered me a cup of cold water while I was waiting for my order. The Bibimbap was packaged well as they kept hot rice away from the vegetables. The portion was perfect; not too small to make you feel wondering whether to eat more or too large to finish all. Food: I loved the side dishes because they tasted very fresh. However, the main dishes were a little weak in flavor. We ordered three dishes: dumpling tofu soup with bulgogi, buckwheat cold noodles, and buckwheat bibim noodles. With the bibim noodles, I felt like I was eating the noodles and sauce separately rather than them coming together as one dish. The bulgogi was a little chewy, but I liked the flavor. Overall, all three dishes were light in taste. Perhaps this is their style, but I personally prefer a deeper, richer meat-broth flavor. Ambience: The restaurant was very, very clean. I always check a restaurant's bathroom because I feel that if a restaurant takes care of an area that is often overlooked, it reflects how they manage the rest of the restaurant and food preparation. The bathroom was very clean. However, I'm not sure if it was unfinished, but the women's bathroom had two stalls without doors. The bathroom is large enough that adding doors should not be a problem. Service: The service was excellent. At many Korean restaurants, the servers are extremely busy and seem to be constantly running around. At this restaurant, however, they seemed to have an adequate number of servers, which allowed them to be attentive to the customers. The owner (?) was also walking around and asking customers about their experience, which I really appreciated. Overall: I'm giving the restaurant three stars because I was hoping for deeper and richer flavors in the dishes I ordered. Our party of 10 ordered several dishes and here is my honest feedback. Galbi Jjim Tender pieces of short ribs and veggies cooked in a sweet soy marinade. I loved how well trimmed the meat was as I hate biting into pure fat. The veggies were also unique (consisting of peppers and sweet potatoes) compared to other restaurants. Pork Galbi Smoky, tender and seasoned only to the extent where you can actually still taste the natural flavor of the meat. Both ribs and meat come together on a sizzling bed of sliced onions. Spicy Black Cod Large pieces of melt in your mouth Cod with tofu and veggies. The spiciness was just a gentle kick so my children were able to enjoy it too. Spicy Baby Octopus Must try dish. The octopus was cooked impeccably and the thick spicy sauce (slightly spicier than the Black Cod dish) was addicting. Make sure to get the fried rice made with the left over sauce at the end! I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say. Each dish including the sides were all seasoned perfectly with fresh ingredients. The kimchi tasted like it was freshly made each day. However, my biggest surprise was how precisely each protein was cooked. The beef and pork were tender yet not mushy, the baby octopus was a perfect balance of tenderness and chewiness, and the black cod held its form until it melted away immediately in my mouth. The New Tofu Sheriff in Town. We've always been going to the usual tofu chains. Then, by pure chance, we stumbled into Ondam Tofu, which only opened a couple of months ago. What a difference. Everything that came out of the kitchen was flavorful and properly hot. The banchan felt more premium than what we've grown used to, and the side fish that arrives with the tofu was crispy and temperature hot. This used to be standard elsewhere but has slipped at almost all of places. Ondam has quietly reset the bar. Service was exceptional and genuinely friendly. Prices sit right in line with the competition, so not overly expensive for what you get. The space itself is modern, clean, and bright an absolute delight compared to the chain places we've been going to for years. Ondam took the familiar tofu experience and elevated it in taste, quality, and service. If you're a tofu fanatic like me, this is now our top spot when the craving hits.
