5 stars I may be slightly biased, but this has been one of my favorite eats in OC since I was a child. Everything here is amazing and flavorful. I ordered - Kalguksu (with chicken broth) $17.99 : Portion size is very generous, the soup is so hearty and filling, especially on a cold day. The noodles are cooked perfectly and is topped with a generous amount of beef. My #1 recommendation from MDK. - Pork dumplings $17.99 : My favorite dumplings in all of OC. They are so incredibly juicy and flavorful and the thin wrapper helps bring out the flavors even more. The spicy kimchi here is also so yummy, the perfect balance of spicy and garlicky. We came on a Saturday at prime dinner time and while there was a lot of people, there was no wait. Their knife cut noodle in spicy chicken broth ($17.99) is good and their bibimbap ($19.99) is also good, but for no meat it was expensice for what it is. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. They give you red and white kimchi for your banchan and I prefer the white over the red one. We first had MDK Noodle in South Korea, Myeong Dong, the M and the D to MDK. We loved it there and we definitely loved it here!! There were much more varieties here in the US but we tried to stick with what we got in Korea to have a comparison. The knife cut noodle in broth soup was pretty standard and tasted great. Our table also got the spicy version of this, which i liked a bit more. The pork dumplings were surprisingly better here in the US. Probably the way they steamed it. The cold noodles was the tricky one. I didn't see this many selection in Korea, but there were several cold cut spicy noodles and variants here. Wow...so we went with a dish with green noodle and spicy sauce, i think its the arrowroot in spicy sauce without any addons. Either way, it tasted great. Service was quick and to the point. Came for dinner and the place was popping. I'm assuming a lot of people that come here know exactly what menu item they wanted because the staff kept coming back to take our orders immediately haha I wanted some dry noodles so I opted for the Spicy Chewy Noodle. I've never had this dish before so I was surprised when my first bite was cold. Very refreshing! I would say that the noodles got me full from a couple bites, overall it was pretty spicy. I'm not sure if there were deeper flavors than that though. This may be controversial but I wasn't a fan of the kimchi. It was very bitter to me. I did like the other pickled cabbages served to us, very refreshing. A nice touch though is that on the side of the tables, there's a drawer for utensils and napkins! Never seen that before! Do wish the staff would've told us initially beforehand because we were confused where they were. A friend recommended this spot for good Korean noodles! Some friends and I arrived for dinner on a Saturday around 5:00. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated immediately. By the time we left around 6:30, the restaurant was a lot more full. I ordered the Cold Kimchi Green Chlorella Noodle Soup. The noodles are a vibrant green color! There is also cucumber, kimchi, egg, and red onions in it. The noodles are pretty long, so they give you a pair of scissors to cut them. The flavor isn't too strong, so you can add your own sauce condiments provided on the table if you'd like a little more flavor. Overall, this is a very refreshing dish! I tried some of the Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth as well. In contrast, this is a very hot dish (and stays hot throughout the meal)! They give a dish of kimchi to each person and non-spicy kimchi for each two people. The regular kimchi is on the spicier side. There is ground chicken on top, along with dumplings and some vegetables. This noodle soup was very comforting! When I'm craving hot noodles, this is my go to place. I love their noodles in chicken broth. I've tried the spicy one but I like the original better. I've also tried some of their other dishes. Some were good and some were a miss. dongchimi with white noodles was good. It normally comes with green noodles but got it replaced with white noodles. It's refreshing and tasty. Mdk has the same restaurant name as the 50+ kalguksu restaurant in Korea. Affiliated? Not sure, but the food tastes the same, and dare I say, better. Kalguksu is their signature dish. We opted for the pork and shrimp and they were juicy and flavorful. Kimchi pancake was a little salty but filled with a lot of veggies. Service was good. They were quick to seat us both times I went which was on a weekend during lunch and dinner times. I was missing Korea and my first visit to MDK did not disappoint!!! Located in a rather random shopping center next to a Seafood City Market, MDK is a no frills restaurant. Expectations were high, as this is a branch of the famous chain in Korea... When we walked in we were a bit surprised to enter a large space filled with tables. It almost felt cafeteria like- literally very sparse deco and rows of tables lined up side by side and in rows. But on a Sunday at lunchtime, it was a full house as people kept coming in and leaving. Service was friendly and efficient. A testament to this truly being a KOREAN restaurant, utensils are hidden from site by sliding out a side drawer from under the edge of the table. The most popular items here are the Kalguksu and Mandu. They also have several other offerings like bibimbap, but since bibimnaengmyeon is my favorite I ordered that. While we waited we noticed two different Grandmas at two different tables pulling Tupperware out of their purses and taking home their kimchi banchans (lol)! Once I took a bite of mine I stopped laughing AB's investors why they did that- their Kimchi is really good!!! They sell it, so you can take some home with you! So there are lots of receipts that say it's not as good as Korea, which I get but feel is kinda unfair. The kalguksu here is still aeons above a majority of restaurants here in SoCal. The one thing I couldn't get over is the fact that 'kalguksu' is supposed to be 'knife cut noodles'. That is, noodles that are slightly thick and not uniform in size- the noodles here are perfectly cut to an odd with smaller than udon noodles and just not what you're expecting. It would be like ordering tagliatelle pasta and getting linguine noodles instead. However, if you can get past that the actual quality and texture of the noodles was great! The shrimp and pork steamed dumplings were delicious! Perfectly paired with vinegar and soy sauce, we ended up eating them all! And my spicy cold noodles were the best I've had in California! However, compared to before, the food portion and taste didn't seem to improve. Since the broth was chicken-based, it had a slight chicken smell that I didn't really enjoy. MDK is one of the better ones but to be honest this spot reminds me very little of the OG one in Ktown minus the very garlicky kimchi which is 100% on point. Having tried a few of the noodle dishes here the clear favorite is the knife cut noods in anchovy broth. The spicy jeolmyun I like as well, but it was/is overly sauced with the red pepper paste. Dongchimi kooksu is a pass for me. The dumplings are surprisingly yummy here though a bit small. Service is well, lacking at times but what else is new for OC Korean restaurants. All in all, I like MDK for what it is but it's nothing like the OG one. So temper your expectations and slurp slurp away! read more

I've had the MDK in Seoul and have been craving it since we came back! I finally found a reason to come down here and so glad it lived up to my expectations. Parking is ample, the restaurant is located at an industrial complex. Quite an interesting location. There are also plenty of tables. I came here on a random Thursday and there were families on summer break as well as office workers catching a quick bite. My friend and I shared their knife cut noodles (#1) and their pork and shrimp dumplings (#27 or 28). Both were so amazing! I loved the steam dumplings and felt it was as good as when I had it in seoul. Im glad to have finally tried it and that they've kept up their quality. We wanted more dumplings so my table just ordered one noodle to share and one of each dumplings. It more than enough food for 2. Had a few of dumplings to togo for later. I recommend the shrimp/pork dumplings over the just pork ones. The only down part was the kimchi. I used to eat at Myeongdong Kyoja often in my childhood, so I returned after over 10 years to enjoy some kalguksu again. My husband and I each got kalguksu with chicken broth and an order of pork dumplings. The kalguksu broth is thick and comforting, and the portion size is pretty generous. There are a lot of noodles, some minced seasoned meat, and dumplings. The kimchi is very garlicky and a little spicier than a lot of other places make their kimchi. It's so good. I also like the white kimchi. They come around often asking if you need a refill. The pork dumplings are juicy. Korean food makes me happy... If I'm starving, it's a good time for Korean food! If I'm pretty full, it's a good time for Korean food! I was able to try MDK Noodle on two separate occasions, and it was good both times. The interior is minimalistic at best....almost sterile. The waitstaff rushes around with pushcarts filled with menus, banchan, and water...it's pretty fun to watch. They shoot over to your table drop everything off, and they are gone! Once they come back around, you are able to order....and then they show up with your food on the cart. Its that simple! The surprising part was that you never receive tableware or napkins. There is a hidden shelf built into your table and everything is inside! The dishes we tried were tasty and the portion size was decent. We weren't blown away by the flavors, but it was satisfying. The items were a little expensive for what they was...but that's everything nowadays... This is your place if you need a quick, expedited sit-down Korean restaurant. I heard that MDK noodles is as close as you can get to authentic kalguksu in the states. There is plenty of seating inside so even though I came on a Sunday during dinner I was seated right away. The server brought over complimentary plates of red and white kimchi as soon as we were seated. The red kimchi is very garlicky and fresh; just like how I like it. The white kimchi wasn't too vinegary and very lightly pickled. I like the variety and it's a nice break between bites of your main entree. I got the kalguksu with anchovy broth which came with lots of wood ear mushrooms, some slices and carrots, zucchini, and onion. It's a huge bowl of noodles and will definitely fill you up. The broth so so thick but subtly sweet and savory. I didn't try the kalguksu in spicy chicken broth but I believe it comes with ground beef on top. The pork bulgogi had a lot of onions in it (like half of the dish) so beware if aren't the biggest fan of onions. There was always a server walking around with a cart to refill your water or kimchi at all times. I would love to come back to give the cold noodles a try! read more
