This is a huge restaurant, very clean and openly spaced. We were done eating so much Disneyland food and wanted some real warm food so we ordered Bulgogi and the cold vinegar noodles which was so yummy and some dumplings which my son devoured too bad we don't have any pictures of the food, but I do have pictures of the sides and the table. I love that they have a secret compartment for utensils and napkins.
I love how clean and open this restaurant is. The simple and modern decor works very well for this place. There's plenty of seats and even more parking. We came on a Saturday at prime dinner time and while there was a lot of people, there was no wait. Their knife cut noodle in spicy chicken broth ($17.99) is good and their bibimbap ($19.99) is also good, but for no meat it was expensice for what it is. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. They give you red and white kimchi for your banchan and I prefer the white over the red one. Prices are average compared to other places. Service is friendly. Great place to come for really good Korean knife cut and cold noodles!
A friend recommended this spot for good Korean noodles! Some friends and I arrived for dinner on a Saturday around 5:00. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated immediately. By the time we left around 6:30, the restaurant was a lot more full. I ordered the Cold Kimchi Green Chlorella Noodle Soup. The noodles are a vibrant green color! There is also cucumber, kimchi, egg, and red onions in it. The noodles are pretty long, so they give you a pair of scissors to cut them. The flavor isn't too strong, so you can add your own sauce condiments provided on the table if you'd like a little more flavor. Overall, this is a very refreshing dish! I tried some of the Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth as well. In contrast, this is a very hot dish (and stays hot throughout the meal)! They give a dish of kimchi to each person and non-spicy kimchi for each two people. The regular kimchi is on the spicier side. There is ground chicken on top, along with dumplings and some vegetables. This noodle soup was very comforting! They also have a Cold Soybean Green Chlorella Noodles Soup that I'm definitely going to try the next time I come!
We first had MDK Noodle in South Korea, Myeong Dong, the M and the D to MDK. We loved it there and we definitely loved it here!! There were much more varieties here in the US but we tried to stick with what we got in Korea to have a comparison. The knife cut noodle in broth soup was pretty standard and tasted great. Our table also got the spicy version of this, which i liked a bit more. The pork dumplings were surprisingly better here in the US. Probably the way they steamed it. The cold noodles was the tricky one. I didn't see this many selection in Korea, but there were several cold cut spicy noodles and variants here. Wow...so we went with a dish with green noodle and spicy sauce, i think its the arrowroot in spicy sauce without any addons. Either way, it tasted great. Service was quick and to the point. A simple restaurant with simple decor. They say a lot more through their food.

Came for dinner and the place was popping. I'm assuming a lot of people that come here know exactly what menu item they wanted because the staff kept coming back to take our orders immediately haha I wanted some dry noodles so I opted for the Spicy Chewy Noodle. I've never had this dish before so I was surprised when my first bite was cold. Very refreshing! I would say that the noodles got me full from a couple bites, overall it was pretty spicy. I'm not sure if there were deeper flavors than that though. This may be controversial but I wasn't a fan of the kimchi. It was very bitter to me. I did like the other pickled cabbages served to us, very refreshing. A nice touch though is that on the side of the tables, there's a drawer for utensils and napkins! Never seen that before! Do wish the staff would've told us initially beforehand because we were confused where they were. Since I love Korean food, I would wanna come here again to try the other menu items, perhaps other dishes would be more suited for my taste.
MDK is a big let down of a restaurant. the food was very underwhelming and for the same price, there are plenty of other quality restaurants ~Food~ pork dumplings 6/10 pork was a bit smelly and chewy knife cut noodle in spicy broth 8/10 noodles were overcooked but broth was flavorful and spicy cold noodles 5/10 very basic cold noodles, underwhelming ~Service: 7/10 quick but not very friendly ~Cost: $17.99 per entree ~Parking: plenty of plaza parking available
When I'm craving hot noodles, this is my go to place. I love their noodles in chicken broth. I've tried the spicy one but I like the original better. I've also tried some of their other dishes. Some were good and some were a miss. dongchimi with white noodles was good. It normally comes with green noodles but got it replaced with white noodles. It's refreshing and tasty. I did not like the spicy nengmyun. The best thing here is the kimchi that they give. There are white and the red kimchi and both are super good. There is someone going around just to refill kimchi for ppl. They remodeled so the place looks more open and bright. There's a good number of tables but when we went on a Sunday early afternoon the tables filled up.
Can to this place to try their cold noodles as I've only tried it from packets and it didn't disappoint! We ordered some spicy squid can on a clay dish which made the rice nice and crispy! Pork dumpling were nice a juicy and paired well with what I think was ssajam? Overall a good place! Service was quick and helpful
Mdk has the same restaurant name as the 50+ kalguksu restaurant in Korea. Affiliated? Not sure, but the food tastes the same, and dare I say, better. Kalguksu is their signature dish. A single bowl is super filling. You get homemade kalguksu noodles with bits of meat toppings and mandu (dumplings). I though the mandu was better here because there is more filling inside than the ones in Korea. The kimchi is identical to ones they had in the Korean stores.
It was warmer when we wanted to grab lunch and what better way to beat the heat than ordering cold noodles. It was my second time ever having cold noodles and this was so good and hit the spot. Their dumplings are so fresh and packed with so much meat and have a thin wrapper. You know this place is good when you see Korean people eating here alone during lunch. However, compared to before, the food portion and taste didn't seem to improve. Since the broth was chicken-based, it had a slight chicken smell that I didn't really enjoy. Also, the noodles were not handmade, and the extra $5 charge felt too expensive. After finishing the meal, the portion still felt a bit small, which was disappointing. In the end, restaurants that serve generous portions tend to do well, and I wish this place would consider that. At least they gave a small bowl of rice for free, which made me feel a little less hungry.

The kimchi from this place is great! I definitely am glad that you could buy it in bulk to go! Definitely worth the trip to try the dumplings as well! They are loaded with filling! We opted for the pork and shrimp and they were juicy and flavorful. Kimchi pancake was a little salty but filled with a lot of veggies. Service was good. They were quick to seat us both times I went which was on a weekend during lunch and dinner times. The side dishes of kimchi are brought to your table shortly after you order and they offered us refills, if you happen to run out. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu. The interior recently got renovated not too long ago. So there are more tables now and it has more of a modern feel when before it was a more traditional Korean style restaurant. The plaza is kind of dead, so parking wasn't an issue. It's also a relatively big lot.
Unassuming corner restaurant in a spacious plaza. The food was absolutely delicious. My personal favorite was the kalguksu, but my dinner partner preferred the jjolmyeon if you're looking for something a little spicy. The noodles were perfectly cooked with a slight chew. Both kimchis were delicious, I enjoyed the water kimchi more. Service was super friendly and quick. Plenty of parking and definitely can accommodate large parties (8+). Inside was clean! 5 stars I may be slightly biased, but this has been one of my favorite eats in OC since I was a child. Everything here is amazing and flavorful. I ordered - Kalguksu (with chicken broth) $17.99 : Portion size is very generous, the soup is so hearty and filling, especially on a cold day. The noodles are cooked perfectly and is topped with a generous amount of beef. My #1 recommendation from MDK. - Pork dumplings $17.99 : My favorite dumplings in all of OC. They are so incredibly juicy and flavorful and the thin wrapper helps bring out the flavors even more. The spicy kimchi here is also so yummy, the perfect balance of spicy and garlicky. I highly recommend you try it, even if you're not the biggest fan of kimchi. Overall, MDK has been here for years, and will always have a special place in my heart for the yummiest, heartiest foods. read more

I was missing Korea and my first visit to MDK did not disappoint!!! Located in a rather random shopping center next to a Seafood City Market, MDK is a no frills restaurant. Expectations were high, as this is a branch of the famous chain in Korea... When we walked in we were a bit surprised to enter a large space filled with tables. It almost felt cafeteria like- literally very sparse deco and rows of tables lined up side by side and in rows. But on a Sunday at lunchtime, it was a full house as people kept coming in and leaving. Service was friendly and efficient. A testament to this truly being a KOREAN restaurant, utensils are hidden from site by sliding out a side drawer from under the edge of the table. The most popular items here are the Kalguksu and Mandu. They also have several other offerings like bibimbap, but since bibimnaengmyeon is my favorite I ordered that. While we waited we noticed two different Grandmas at two different tables pulling Tupperware out of their purses and taking home their kimchi banchans (lol)! Once I took a bite of mine I stopped laughing AB's investors why they did that- their Kimchi is really good!!! They sell it, so you can take some home with you! So there are lots of receipts that say it's not as good as Korea, which I get but feel is kinda unfair. The kalguksu here is still aeons above a majority of restaurants here in SoCal. The one thing I couldn't get over is the fact that 'kalguksu' is supposed to be 'knife cut noodles'. That is, noodles that are slightly thick and not uniform in size- the noodles here are perfectly cut to an odd with smaller than udon noodles and just not what you're expecting. It would be like ordering tagliatelle pasta and getting linguine noodles instead. However, if you can get past that the actual quality and texture of the noodles was great! The shrimp and pork steamed dumplings were delicious! Perfectly paired with vinegar and soy sauce, we ended up eating them all! And my spicy cold noodles were the best I've had in California! MDK definitely met my expectations and I will definitely be back soon! read more

Craved this place so I went the next week! This time we had the shrimp and pork dumplings (I prefer the pork) and got the kalguksu. I loved the broth of the kalguksu but prefer noodles that are a bit chewier! Pork dumplings will definitely be my go to order here Service was consistently fast and place continues to be clean and spacious! Great ac hehe read more

Tried this place in a whim and was not disappointed. The tteokbokki was perfect, the chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the kimchi was excellent. The service was excellent and I'm glad we arrived early, because it started to get very full by the time we'd finished!! read more

ive wanted to try this spot in korea but the wait was way too long. it was a hot day so i got cold noodles andit was so refreshing. my friend got the dumpling and rice cake soup and the wrap they used was perfectly chewy. i'd love to try their hand cut noodles considering the dumpling wrapper texture had such a nice bite. it comes with a side of broth and banchan, with some garlicky kimchi read more

MDK Noodles is pure comfort in a bowl. My family and I aboslutely love this place!!! The Ground Chicken Noodles and Pork Dumplings are phenomenal and they disappear fast. The Knife Cut Noodles in Spicy Chicken Broth are also top notch --sooooo deeply satisfying. I also fully admit to inhaling all the banchan before the meal even starts. No regrets. The service is fast. And the ambiance is no-nonsense, no frills...which is really all you need in a place that focuses on simple yet soulful food. If you're craving something that soothes and heals you from the inside out, gotta go to MDK. Just do it! read more

I like how they used a wider surface dolsot (hot stone pot), that way a lot more rice will crisp up. Their kimchi is so delicious too. I always buy a container to take home. We came here for the first time!! It was a good Korean restaurant in the area! We got handful of orders and they were all delicious! When you're the only non Korean diner in the whole place you know it's a good sign. Within minutes of being seated for lunch the place was packed!! The soup was flavorful and their fresh kimchi sealed the deal!! Spicy and non spicy options on their menu. Easy parking and service was quick. read more
3.5 stars but rounding up due to a surprising lack of decent kalguksu options in the OC. MDK is one of the better ones but to be honest this spot reminds me very little of the OG one in Ktown minus the very garlicky kimchi which is 100% on point. Having tried a few of the noodle dishes here the clear favorite is the knife cut noods in anchovy broth. The spicy jeolmyun I like as well, but it was/is overly sauced with the red pepper paste. Dongchimi kooksu is a pass for me. The dumplings are surprisingly yummy here though a bit small. Service is well, lacking at times but what else is new for OC Korean restaurants. All in all, I like MDK for what it is but it's nothing like the OG one. So temper your expectations and slurp slurp away! read more

Super clean inside and lots of seating so we did not have any wait. Everything was delicious and I would def return to try some more authentic and healthy menu options since we kept it pretty simple and got mostly (soul) Korean food. Got cold noodles here which were fireee. read more

My go to place for the kalguksu for the past 10 years. We got the original kalguksu which is the chicken noodle soup. You can order extra noodles for $5. We wanted more dumplings so my table just ordered one noodle to share and one of each dumplings. It more than enough food for 2. Had a few of dumplings to togo for later. I recommend the shrimp/pork dumplings over the just pork ones. The only down part was the kimchi. It's hard not to compare since I've been going here for so long but I felt like the quality of the kimchi wasn't able good as a few years ago. read more

went here for dinner with my friends!! i haven't been back to this place in so long because they were under renovation but it's still as good as i remember!!! after the renovation, the place is alot brighter and feels more spacious. if you go here, you have to get the kalguksu!! the broth is so sooo flavorful. and the noodles is to dieeee for. we also got the spicy dongchimiguksu. it's definitely still a good dish but didnt stand out to me as much. another worthy mention is definitely their kimchi! a perfect amount of spicy and seasoning:) the service was quick & friendly. will definitely be back!:) read more
I used to eat at Myeongdong Kyoja often in my childhood, so I returned after over 10 years to enjoy some kalguksu again. My husband and I each got kalguksu with chicken broth and an order of pork dumplings. The kalguksu broth is thick and comforting, and the portion size is pretty generous. There are a lot of noodles, some minced seasoned meat, and dumplings. The kimchi is very garlicky and a little spicier than a lot of other places make their kimchi. It's so good. I also like the white kimchi. They come around often asking if you need a refill. The pork dumplings are juicy. I use 1 part soy sauce to 3 parts vinegar provided at the table to make a dipping sauce. I was satisfied with the nostalgic flavor, clean environment, and hospitable service. read more

Korean food makes me happy... If I'm starving, it's a good time for Korean food! If I'm pretty full, it's a good time for Korean food! I was able to try MDK Noodle on two separate occasions, and it was good both times. The interior is minimalistic at best....almost sterile. The waitstaff rushes around with pushcarts filled with menus, banchan, and water...it's pretty fun to watch. They shoot over to your table drop everything off, and they are gone! Once they come back around, you are able to order....and then they show up with your food on the cart. Its that simple! The surprising part was that you never receive tableware or napkins. There is a hidden shelf built into your table and everything is inside! The dishes we tried were tasty and the portion size was decent. We weren't blown away by the flavors, but it was satisfying. The items were a little expensive for what they was...but that's everything nowadays... This is your place if you need a quick, expedited sit-down Korean restaurant. It's relatively fast, and you can eat and get out of there if you really need to. Enjoy! read more

Do they sell frozen dumplings?
No unfortunately we do not. All dumplings are made fresh daily, and because of the thin nature of the skin of our dumplings we do not freeze it. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Hi, all the cold noodles are available except soy bean noodles which we will bring back in the spring :)
Is the kimchi still the same after the ownership/name change?
Hi! The kimchi is the same :). I took over from my father because he is getting older, but food is the same.
Do they have any gluten free options?
They have vegetarian bibimbap (traditional korean dish made of vegetables and rice), beef bulgogi and pork bulgogi, rice cake soup, and any of the dishes that contain chlorella noodles as they are naturally gluten free.
